1. യൊരോബെയാം ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാന് പീഠത്തിന്നരികെ നിലക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ ഒരു ദൈവപുരുഷന് യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനയാല് യെഹൂദയില് നിന്നു ബേഥേലിലേക്കു വന്നു.

1. Then a man of God came from Judah by the order of the Lord to Beth-el, where Jeroboam was by the altar, burning offerings.

2. അവന് യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനയാല് യാഗപീഠത്തോടുയാഗപീഠമേ, യാഗപീഠമേ, യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുദാവീദ്ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു യോശീയാവു എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു മകന് ജനിക്കും; അവന് നിന്റെ മേല് ധൂപം കാട്ടുന്ന പൂജാഗിരിപുരോഹിതന്മാരെ നിന്റെമേല് വെച്ചു അറുക്കയും മനുഷ്യാസ്ഥികളെ നിന്റെമേല് ചുട്ടുകളകയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.

2. And by the order of the Lord he made an outcry against the altar, saying, O altar, altar, the Lord has said, From the seed of David will come a child, named Josiah, and on you he will put to death the priests of the high places, who are burning offerings on you, and men's bones will be burned on you.

3. അവന് അന്നു ഒരു അടയാളവും കൊടുത്തു; ഇതാ, ഈ യാഗപീഠം പിളര്ന്നു അതിന്മേലുള്ള ചാരം തൂകിപ്പോകും; ഇതു യഹോവ കല്പിച്ച അടയാളം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. The same day he gave them a sign, saying, This is the sign which the Lord has given: See, the altar will be broken and the burned waste on it overturned.

4. ദൈവപുരുഷന് ബേഥേലിലെ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞ വചനം യൊരോബെയാംരാജാവു കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവന് യാഗപീഠത്തിങ്കല്നിന്നു കൈ നീട്ടിഅവനെ പിടിപ്പിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; എങ്കിലും അവന്റെ നേരെ നിട്ടിയ കൈ വരണ്ടുപോയിട്ടു തിരികെ മടക്കുവാന് കഴിവില്ലാതെ ആയി.

4. Then the king, hearing the man of God crying out against the altar at Beth-el, put out his hand from the altar, saying, Take him prisoner. And his hand, stretched out against him, became dead, and he had no power of pulling it back.

5. ദൈവപുരുഷന് യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനയാല് കൊടുത്തിരുന്ന അടയാളപ്രകാരം യാഗപീഠം പിളര്ന്നു ചാരം യാഗപീഠത്തില്നിന്നു തൂകിപ്പോയി.

5. And the altar was broken and the burned waste on it overturned; this was the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the Lord.

6. രാജാവു ദൈവപുരുഷനോടുനീ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു കൃപെക്കായി അപേക്ഷിച്ചു എന്റെ കൈമടങ്ങുവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ദൈവപുരുഷന് യഹോവയോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; എന്നാറെ രാജാവിന്റെ കൈ മടങ്ങി മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെ ആയി.

6. Then the king made answer and said to the man of God, Make a prayer now for the grace of the Lord your God, and for me, that my hand may be made well. And in answer to the prayer of the man of God, the king's hand was made well again, as it was before.

7. രാജാവു ദൈവപുരുഷനോടുനീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ അരമനയില് വന്നു അല്പം ആശ്വസിച്ചുകൊള്ക; ഞാന് നിനക്കു ഒരു സമ്മാനം തരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. And the king said to the man of God, Come with me to my house for food and rest, and I will give you a reward.

8. ദൈവപുരുഷന് രാജാവിനോടുനിന്റെ അരമനയില് പകുതി തന്നാലും ഞാന് നിന്നോടുകൂടെ വരികയില്ല; ഈ സ്ഥലത്തു വെച്ചു ഞാന് അപ്പം തിന്നുകയില്ല, വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയും ഇല്ല.

8. But the man of God said to the king, Even if you gave me half of all you have, I would not go in with you, and I would not take food or a drink of water in this place;

9. നീ അപ്പം തിന്നരുതു, വെള്ളം കുടിക്കരുതു; പോയ വഴിയായി മടങ്ങിവരികയും അരുതു എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളപ്പാടായി എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. For so I was ordered by the word of the Lord, who said, You are not to take food or a drink of water, and you are not to go back the way you came.

10. അങ്ങനെ അവന് ബേഥേലിലേക്കു വന്ന വഴിയായി മടങ്ങാതെ മറ്റൊരുവഴിയായി പോയി.

10. So he went another way, and not by the way he came to Beth-el.

11. ബേഥേലില് വൃദ്ധനായൊരു പ്രവാചകന് പാര്ത്തിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര് വന്നു ദൈവപുരുഷന് ബേഥേലില് ചെയ്ത കാര്യമൊക്കെയും അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു; അവന് രാജാവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കുകളും അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പനെ അറിയിച്ചു.

11. Now there was an old prophet living in Beth-el; and one of his sons came and gave him word of all the man of God had done that day in Beth-el, and they gave their father an account of the words he had said to the king.

12. അവരുടെ അപ്പന് അവരോടുഅവന് ഏതു വഴിക്കു പോയി എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു; യെഹൂദയില്നിന്നു വന്നു ദൈവപുരുഷന് പോയ വഴി അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര് കണ്ടിരുന്നു.

12. Then their father said to them, Which way did he go? Now his sons had seen which way the man of God who came from Judah had gone.

13. അവന് തന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരോടുകഴുതെക്കു കോപ്പിട്ടുതരുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു, അവര് കഴുതെക്കു കോപ്പിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു; അവന് അതിന്റെ പുറത്തു കയറി ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു;

13. So the prophet said to his sons, Make ready an ass for me. So they made an ass ready, and he got on it,

14. അവന് ഒരു കരുവേലകത്തിന് കീഴെ ഇരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടുനീ യെഹൂദയില്നിന്നു വന്ന ദൈവപുരുഷനോ എന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

14. And went after the man of God, and came up with him while he was seated under an oak-tree. And he said to him, Are you the man of God who came from Judah? And he said, I am.

15. അവന് അതേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അവനോടുനീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ വീട്ടില് വന്നു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. Then he said to him, Come back to the house with me and have a meal.

16. അതിന്നു അവന് എനിക്കു നിന്നോടുകൂടെ പോരികയോ നിന്റെ വിട്ടില് കയറുകയോ ചെയ്തുകൂടാ; ഞാന് ഈ സ്ഥലത്തുവെച്ചു നിന്നോടുകൂടെ അപ്പം തിന്നുകയില്ല വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയുമില്ല.

16. But he said, I may not go back with you or go into your house; and I will not take food or a drink of water with you in this place;

17. നീ അവിടെവെച്ചു അപ്പം തിന്നരുതു, വെള്ളം കുടിക്കരുതു, പോയ വഴിയായി മടങ്ങിവരികയും അരുതു എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളപ്പാടായി എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17. For the Lord said to me, You are not to take food or water there, or go back again by the way you came.

18. അതിന്നു അവന് ഞാനും നിന്നെപ്പോലെ ഒരു പ്രവാചകന് ആകുന്നു; അപ്പം തിന്നുകയും വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ അവനെ നിന്റെ വീട്ടില് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു വരിക എന്നു ഒരു ദൂതന് യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനയാല് എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് പറഞ്ഞതോ ഭോഷ്കായിരുന്നു.

18. Then he said to him, I am a prophet like you; and an angel said to me by the word of the Lord, Take him back with you and give him food and water. But he said false words to him.

19. അങ്ങനെ അവന് അവനോടുകൂടെ ചെന്നു, അവന്റെ വീട്ടില്വെച്ചു അപ്പം തിന്നുകയും വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

19. So he went back with him, and had a meal in his house and a drink of water.

20. അവന് ഭക്ഷണത്തിന്നിരിക്കുമ്പോള് അവനെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്ന പ്രവാചകന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായി.

20. But while they were seated at the table, the word of the Lord came to the prophet who had taken him back;

21. അവര് യെഹൂദയില്നിന്നു വന്ന ദൈവപുരുഷനോടുനീ യഹോവയുടെ വചനം മറുത്തു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്ന

21. And crying out to the man of God who came from Judah, he said, The Lord says, Because you have gone against the voice of the Lord, and have not done as you were ordered by the Lord,

22. കല്പന പ്രമാണിക്കാതെ അപ്പം തിന്നുകയും വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്യരുതെന്നു അവന് നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ച സ്ഥലത്തു നീ മടങ്ങിവന്നു അപ്പം തിന്നുകയും വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ ശവം നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ കല്ലറയില് വരികയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.

22. But have come back, and have taken food and water in this place where he said you were to take no food or water; your dead body will not be put to rest with your fathers.

23. അപ്പം തിന്നുകയും വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്തശേഷം അവന് താന് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്ന പ്രവാചകന്നുവേണ്ടി കഴുതെക്കു കോപ്പിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു;

23. Now after the meal he made ready the ass for him, for the prophet whom he had taken back.

24. അവന് പോകുമ്പോള് വഴിയില് ഒരു സിംഹം അവനെ കണ്ടു അവനെ കൊന്നു; അവന്റെ ശവം വഴിയില് കിടന്നു, കഴുത അതിന്റെ അരികെ നിന്നു; സിംഹവും ശവത്തിന്റെ അരികെ നിന്നു.

24. And he went on his way; but on the road a lion came rushing at him and put him to death; and his dead body was stretched in the road with the ass by its side, and the lion was there by the body.

25. വഴിപോകുന്ന ആളുകള് ശവം വഴിയില് കിടക്കുന്നതും ശവത്തിന്റെ അരികെ സിംഹം നിലക്കുന്നതും കണ്ടു; വൃദ്ധനായ പ്രവാചകന് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന പട്ടണത്തില് ചെന്നു അറിയിച്ചു.

25. And some men, going by, saw the body stretched out in the road with the lion by its side; and they came and gave news of it in the town where the old prophet was living.

26. അവനെ വഴിയില് നിന്നു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു വന്ന പ്രവാചകന് അതു കേട്ടപ്പോള്അവന് യഹോവയുടെ വചനം മറുത്ത ദൈവപുരുഷന് തന്നേ; യഹോവ അവനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനപ്രകാരം യഹോവ അവനെ സിംഹത്തിന്നു ഏല്പിച്ചു; അതു അവനെ കീറി കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. Then the prophet who had made him come back, hearing it, said, It is the man of God, who went against the word of the Lord; that is why the Lord has given him to the lion to be wounded to death, as the Lord said.

27. പിന്നെ അവന് തന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരോടുകഴുതെക്കു കോപ്പിട്ടുതരുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. And he said to his sons, Make ready the ass for me. And they did so.

28. അവര് കോപ്പിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു. അവന് ചെന്നപ്പോള് ശവം വഴിയില് കിടക്കുന്നതും ശവത്തിന്റെ അരികെ കഴുതയും സിംഹവും നിലക്കുന്നതും കണ്ടു; സിംഹം ശവത്തെ തിന്നുകയോ കഴുതയെ കീറിക്കളകയോ ചെയ്തില്ല.

28. And he went and saw the dead body stretched out in the road with the ass and the lion by its side: the lion had not taken the body for its food or done any damage to the ass.

29. പ്രവാചകന് ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ ശവം എടുത്തു കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു വെച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; വൃദ്ധനായ പ്രവാചകന് തന്റെ പട്ടണത്തില് എത്തി അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു വിലപിച്ചു അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.

29. Then the prophet took up the body of the man of God and put it on the ass and took it back; and he came to the town to put the body to rest with weeping.

30. അവന്റെ ശവം അവന് തന്റെ സ്വന്ത കല്ലറയില് വെച്ചിട്ടു അവനെക്കുറിച്ചുഅയ്യോ എന്റെ സഹോദരാ, എന്നിങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞു അവര് വിലാപം കഴിച്ചു.

30. And he put the body in the resting-place made ready for himself, weeping and sorrowing over it, saying, O my brother!

31. അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തശേഷം അവന് തന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരോടുഞാന് മരിച്ചശേഷം നിങ്ങള് എന്നെ ദൈവപുരുഷനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന കല്ലറയില് തന്നേ അടക്കം ചെയ്യേണം; അവന്റെ അസ്ഥികളുടെ അരികെ എന്റെ അസ്ഥികളും ഇടേണം.

31. And when he had put it to rest, he said to his sons, When I am dead, then you are to put my body into the earth with the body of this man of God, and put me by his bones so that my bones may be kept safe with his bones.

32. അവന് ബേഥേലിലെ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്നും ശമര്യപട്ടണങ്ങളിലെ സകലപൂജാഗിരിക്ഷേത്രങ്ങള്ക്കും വിരോധമായി യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനപ്രകാരം വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞ വചനം നിശ്ചയമായി സംഭവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

32. For the outcry he made by the word of the Lord against the altar in Beth-el and against all the houses of the high places in the towns of Samaria, will certainly come about.

33. ഈ കാര്യം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടും യൊരോബെയാം തന്റെ ദുര്മ്മാര്ഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുതിരിയാതെ പിന്നെയും സര്വ്വജനത്തില്നിന്നും പൂജാഗിരിപുരോഹിതന്മാരെ നിയമിച്ചു; തനിക്കു ബോധിച്ചവരെ കരപൂരണം കഴിപ്പിച്ചു; അവര് പൂജാഗിരിപുരോഹിതന്മാരായ്തീര്ന്നു.

33. After this Jeroboam, not turning back from his evil ways, still made priests for his altars from among all the people; he made a priest of anyone desiring it, so that there might be priests of the high places.

34. യൊരോബെയാംഗൃഹത്തെ ഭൂമിയില്നിന്നു ഛേദിച്ചു മുടിച്ചുകളയത്തക്കവണ്ണം ഈ കാര്യം അവര്ക്കും പാപമായ്തീര്ന്നു.

34. And this became a sin in the family of Jeroboam, causing it to be cut off and sent to destruction from the face of the earth.
