1. നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാം രാജാവിന്റെ പതിനെട്ടാം ആണ്ടില് അബിയാം യെഹൂദയില് വാണുതുടങ്ങി.

1. It was in the eighteenth year of King Yarov'am the son of N'vat that Aviyam began his reign over Y'hudah.

2. അവന് മൂന്നു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമില് വാണു; അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു മയഖാ എന്നു പേര്; അവള് അബീശാലോമിന്റെ മകള് ആയിരുന്നു.

2. He ruled three years in Yerushalayim; his mother's name was Ma'akhah the daughter of Avishalom.

3. തന്റെ അപ്പന് മുമ്പെ ചെയ്തിരുന്ന സകലപാപങ്ങളിലും അവന് നടന്നു; അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം അവന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ഹൃദയംപോലെ അവന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയിങ്കല് ഏകാഗ്രമായിരുന്നില്ല.

3. He committed all the sins his father had committed before him; he was not wholehearted with ADONAI his God, as David his forefather had been.

4. എങ്കിലും ദാവീദിന് നിമിത്തം അവന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവന്റെ മകനെ അവന്റെ അനന്തരവനായി ഉയര്ത്തിയും യെരൂശലേമിനെ നിലനിര്ത്തിയുംകൊണ്ടു അവന്നു യെരൂശലേമില് ഒരു ദീപം നല്കി.

4. Nevertheless, for David's sake ADONAI his God gave him a lamp burning in Yerushalayim by establishing his son after him and making Yerushalayim secure.

5. ദാവീദ് യഹോവേക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു; ഹിത്യനായ ഊരീയാവിന്റെ കാര്യത്തില് മാത്രമല്ലാതെ അവന് തന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതില് ഒന്നും തന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലത്തൊരിക്കലും വിട്ടുമാറീട്ടില്ല.

5. For David had done what was right from ADONAI's perspective; he had not turned away from anything he had ordered him to do, as long as he lived, except in the matter of Uriyah the Hitti.

6. രെഹബെയാമും യൊരോബെയാമും തമ്മില് ജീവപര്യന്തം യുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

6. There was war between Rechav'am and Yarov'am as long as he lived.

7. അബീയാമിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന് ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ. അബീയാമും യൊരോബെയാമും തമ്മിലും യുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

7. Other activities of Aviyam and all his accomplishments are recorded in the Annals of the Kings of Y'hudah. But there was war between Aviyam and Yarov'am.

8. അബിയാം തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവര് ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തില് അവനെ അടക്കംചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ ആസാ അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

8. Aviyam slept with his ancestors, and they buried him in the City of David. Then Asa his son became king in his place.

9. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ ഇരുപതാം ആണ്ടില് ആസാ യെഹൂദയില് രാജാവായി.

9. It was in the twentieth year of Yarov'am king of Isra'el that Asa began his reign over Y'hudah.

10. അവന് നാല്പത്തൊന്നു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമില് വാണു; അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു മയഖാ എന്നു പേര്; അവള് അബിശാലോമിന്റെ മകള് ആയിരുന്നു.

10. He ruled forty-one years in Yerushalayim; his [[grand]]mother's name was Ma'akhah the daughter of Avishalom.

11. ആസാ തന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിനെപ്പോലെ യഹോവേക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.

11. Asa did what was right from the perspective of ADONAI, as David his ancestor had done.

12. അവന് പുരുഷമൈഥുനക്കാരെ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു പുറത്താക്കി, തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്ന സകലവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെയും നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

12. He rid the land of cult-prostitutes and removed all the idols his ancestors had made.

13. തന്റെ അമ്മയായ മയഖ അശേരെക്കു ഒരു മ്ളേച്ഛവിഗ്രഹം ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്നതു കൊണ്ടു അവന് അവളെ രാജ്ഞിസ്ഥാനത്തില്നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു; ആസാ അവളുടെ മ്ളേച്ഛവിഗ്രഹം വെട്ടിമുറിച്ചു കിദ്രോന് തോട്ടിന്നരികെവെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

13. He also deposed Ma'akhah from her position as queen mother, because she had made a disgusting image as an [asherah]. Asa cut down this image of hers and burned it in [Vadi] Kidron.

14. എന്നാല് പൂജാഗിരികള്ക്കു നീക്കംവന്നില്ല. എങ്കിലും ആസയുടെ ഹൃദയം അവന്റെ ജീവകാലത്തൊക്കെയും യഹോവയിങ്കല് ഏകാഗ്രമായിരുന്നു.

14. But the high places were not removed. Nevertheless, Asa was wholehearted with ADONAI throughout his life.

15. വെള്ളി, പൊന്നു, ഉപകരണങ്ങള് എന്നിങ്ങനെ തന്റെ അപ്പന് നിവേദിച്ചതും താന് തന്നേ നിവേദിച്ചതുമായ വസ്തുക്കളെ അവന് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

15. He brought into the house of ADONAI all the articles his father had consecrated, also the things he himself had consecrated- silver, gold and utensils.

16. ആസയും യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ബയെശയും തമ്മില് ജീവപര്യന്തം യുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

16. There was war between Asa and Ba'sha king of Isra'el as long as they both lived.

17. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ബയെശാ യെഹൂദയുടെ നേരെ വന്നു, യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ആസയുടെ അടുക്കല് പോക്കുവരുത്തിന്നു ആരെയും സമ്മതിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു രാമയെ പണിതു ഉറപ്പിച്ചു.

17. Ba'sha attacked Y'hudah, and he fortified Ramah to prevent anyone's leaving or entering the territory of Asa king of Y'hudah.

18. അപ്പോള് ആസാ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ ഭണ്ഡാരത്തില് ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്ന എല്ലാ വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും രാജധാനിയിലെ ഭണ്ഡാരവും എടുത്തു തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു; ആസാരാജാവു ദമ്മേശെക്കില് പാര്ത്ത ഹെസ്യോന്റെ മകനായ തബ്രിമ്മോന്റെ മകന് ബെന് -ഹദദ് എന്ന അരാംരാജാവിന്നു അവയെ കൊടുത്തയച്ചു

18. Then Asa took all the silver and gold left among the treasures of the house of ADONAI and among the treasures of the royal palace; and, entrusting them to his servants, King Asa sent them to Ben-Hadad the son of Tavrimmon, the son of Hezyon, king of Aram, who lived in Dammesek, with this message:

19. എനിക്കും നിനക്കും, എന്റെ അപ്പന്നും നിന്റെ അപ്പന്നും തമ്മില് സഖ്യത ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; ഇതാ, ഞാന് നിനക്കു സമ്മാനമായി വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും കൊടുത്തയക്കുന്നു; യിസ്രയേല്രാജാവായ ബയെശാ എന്നെ വിട്ടുപോകേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ ചെന്നു അവനോടുള്ള നിന്റെ സഖ്യത ത്യജിക്കേണം എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

19. There is a covenant between me and you, which existed already between my father and your father. Here, I am sending you a present of silver and gold; go, and break your covenant with Ba'sha king of Isra'el, so that he will leave me alone.'

20. ബെന് -ഹദദ് ആസാരാജാവിന്റെ അപേക്ഷകേട്ടു, തന്റെ സേനാപതികളെ യിസ്രായേല്പട്ടണങ്ങള്ക്കു നേരെ അയച്ചു ഈയോനും ദാനും ആബേല്-ബേത്ത്-മയഖയും കിന്നെരോത്ത് മുഴുവനും നഫ്താലിദേശമൊക്കെയും പിടിച്ചടക്കി.

20. Ben-Hadad did as King Asa asked- he sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Isra'el, attacking 'Iyon, Dan, Avel-Beit-Ma'akhah, all of Kinn'rot and all the land of Naftali.

21. ബയെശാ അതു കേട്ടപ്പോള് രാമാ പണിയുന്നതു നിര്ത്തി തിര്സ്സയില് തന്നേ പാര്ത്തു.

21. As soon as Ba'sha heard of it, he stopped building Ramah and stayed in Tirtzah.

22. ആസാരാജാവു ഒരു വിളംബരം പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കി ഒട്ടൊഴിയാതെ യെഹൂദയെ മുഴുവനും വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി; അവര് ചെന്നു ബയെശാ പണിതു ഉറപ്പിച്ച രാമയുടെ കല്ലും മരവും എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; ആസാരാജാവു അവകൊണ്ടു ബെന്യാമീനിലെ ഗേബയും മിസ്പയും പണിതു ഉറപ്പിച്ചു.

22. King Asa then issued a proclamation requiring every man in Y'hudah, with no exception, to come and carry off the stones and timber Ba'sha had used to fortify Ramah. With them King Asa fortified Geva of Binyamin and Mitzpah.

23. ആസയുടെ മറ്റുള്ള സകല വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന്റെ സകലപരാക്രമപ്രവൃത്തികളും അവന് ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അവന് പട്ടണങ്ങള് പണിതതും യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ. എന്നാല് അവന്റെ വാര്ദ്ധക്യകാലത്തു അവന്റെ കാലുകള്ക്കു ദീനംപിടിച്ചു.

23. The other activities of Asa, all his power, all his accomplishments and the cities he fortified are recorded in the Annals of the Kings of Y'hudah. But in his old age he suffered from a disease in his legs.

24. ആസാ തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; തന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തില് അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

24. Asa slept with his ancestors and was buried with his ancestors in the City of David his ancestor. Then Y'hoshafat his son became king in his place.

25. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ആസയുടെ രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടില് യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ മകനായ നാദാബ് യിസ്രായേലില് രാജാവായി; അവന് രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം യിസ്രായേലില് വാണു.

25. It was in the second year of Asa king of Y'hudah that Nadav the son of Yarov'am began his reign over Isra'el, and he ruled Isra'el two years.

26. അവന് യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു; തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വഴിയിലും അവന് യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു ചെയ്യിച്ച പാപത്തിലും നടന്നു.

26. He did what was evil from ADONAI's perspective, following the example of his father and the sin through which he had made Isra'el sin.

27. എന്നാല് യിസ്സാഖാര്ഗോത്രക്കാരനായ അഹിയാവിന്റെ മകനായ ബയെശാ അവന്നു വിരോധമായി കൂട്ടുകെട്ടുണ്ടാക്കി; ഫെലിസ്ത്യര്ക്കുംള്ള ഗിബ്ബെഥോനില്വെച്ചു അവനെ കൊന്നു; നാദാബും എല്ലാ യിസ്രായേലും ഗിബ്ബെഥോനെ വളഞ്ഞിരിക്കയായിരുന്നു.

27. Ba'sha the son of Achiyah, from the descendants of Yissakhar, conspired against him; and Ba'sha attacked him at Gib'ton, which belonged to the P'lishtim; for at the time Nadav and all Isra'el were besieging Gib'ton.

28. ബയെശാ അവനെ യെഹൂദാ രാജാവായ ആസയുടെ മൂന്നാം ആണ്ടില് കൊന്നു; അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

28. It was in the third year of Asa king of Y'hudah that Ba'sha killed Nadav and became king in his place.

29. അവന് രാജാവായ ഉടനെ യൊരോബെയാം ഗൃഹത്തെ മുഴുവനും നിഗ്രഹിച്ചു; യഹോവ ശിലോന്യനായ അഹിയാവു എന്ന തന്റെ ദാസന് മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനപ്രകാരം അവന് യൊരോബെയാമിന്നു ശ്വാസമുള്ള ഒന്നിനെയും ശേഷിപ്പിക്കാതെ അശേഷം മുടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

29. As soon as he had become king he killed off the entire house of Yarov'am, destroying every living soul and leaving not one survivor. This was in keeping with what ADONAI had said through his servant Achiyah from Shiloh;

30. യൊരോബെയാം ചെയ്തതും യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു ചെയ്യിച്ചതുമായ പാപങ്ങള് നിമിത്തവും അവന് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചതുനിമിത്തവും തന്നേ.

30. it was the punishment for the sins Yarov'am had committed and through which he had made Isra'el sin, thereby angering ADONAI the God of Isra'el.

31. നാദാബിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന് ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

31. Other activities of Nadav and all his accomplishments are recorded in the Annals of the Kings of Isra'el.

32. ആസയും യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ബയെശയും തമ്മില് ജീവപര്യന്തം യുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

32. There was war between Asa and Ba'sha king of Isra'el as long as they both lived.

33. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ആസയുടെ മൂന്നാം ആണ്ടില് അഹീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ ബയെശാ എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിന്നും രാജാവായി തിര്സ്സയില് ഇരുപത്തുനാലു സംവത്സരം വാണു.

33. It was in the third year of Asa king of Y'hudah that Ba'sha the son of Achiyah began his reign over all Isra'el in Tirtzah, and his rule lasted twenty-four years.

34. അവന് യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു. യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ വഴിയിലും അവന് യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു ചെയ്യിച്ച പാപത്തിലും നടന്നു.

34. He did what was wrong from ADONAI's perspective, following the example of Yarov'am and committing the sin through which he had made Isra'el sin.
