1. അന്നു രാത്രി രാജാവിന്നു ഉറക്കം വരായ്കയാല് അവന് ദിനവൃത്താന്തങ്ങള് കുറിച്ചുവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന പുസ്തകം കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു; അതു രാജാവിനെ വായിച്ചു കോള്പ്പിച്ചു;

1. On that night hath the sleep of the king fled away, and he saith to bring in the book of memorials of the Chronicles, and they are read before the king,

2. ഉമ്മരിപ്പടി കാവല്ക്കാരായി രാജാവിന്റെ ഷണ്ഡന്മാരില് ബിഗ്ദ്ധാനാ, തേരെശ് എന്നീ രണ്ടുപേര് അഹശ്വേരോശ്രാജാവിനെ കയ്യേറ്റം ചെയ്വാന് ശ്രമിച്ചിരുന്ന സംഗതി മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായി അറിവു തന്നപ്രകാരം അതില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

2. and it is found written that Mordecai had declared concerning Bigthana and Teresh, two of the eunuchs of the king, of the keepers of the threshold, who sought to put forth a hand on king Ahasuerus.

3. ഇതിന്നു വേണ്ടി മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിക്കു എന്തു ബഹുമാനവും പദവിയും കൊടുത്തു എന്നു രാജാവു ചോദിച്ചു. ഒന്നും കൊടുത്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു രാജാവിനെ സേവിച്ചുനിന്ന ഭൃത്യന്മാര് പറഞ്ഞു.

3. And the king saith, 'What honour and greatness hath been done to Mordecai for this?' And the servants of the king, his ministers, say, 'Nothing hath been done with him.'

4. പ്രാകാരത്തില് ആരുള്ളു എന്നു രാജാവു ചോദിച്ചു. എന്നാല് ഹാമാന് മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിക്കു വേണ്ടി താന് തീര്പ്പിച്ച കഴുവിന്മേല് അവനെ തൂക്കിക്കളയേണ്ടതിന്നു രാജാവിനോടു അപേക്ഷിപ്പാന് രാജധാനിയുടെ പുറത്തു പ്രാകാരത്തില് വന്നു നില്ക്കയായിരുന്നു.

4. And the king saith, 'Who [is] in the court?' -- and Haman hath come in to the outer court of the house of the king, to say to the king to hang Mordecai on the tree that he had prepared for him --

5. രാജാവിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാര് അവനോടുഹാമാന് പ്രാകാരത്തില് നിലക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അകത്തു വരട്ടെ എന്നു രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചു.

5. and the servants of the king say unto him, 'Lo, Haman is standing in the court;' and the king saith, 'Let him come in.'

6. ഹാമാന് അകത്തു വന്നപ്പോള് രാജാവു അവനോടുരാജാവു ബഹുമാനിപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്ന പുരുഷന്നു എന്തെല്ലാമാകുന്നു ചെയ്തുകൊടുക്കേണ്ടതു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. എന്നെയല്ലാതെ ആരെ രാജാവു അത്ര അധികം ബഹുമാനിപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കും എന്നു ഹാമാന് ഉള്ളുകൊണ്ടു വിചാരിച്ചു.

6. And Haman cometh in, and the king saith to him, 'What -- to do with the man in whose honour the king hath delighted?' And Haman saith in his heart, 'To whom doth the king delight to do honour more than myself?'

7. ഹാമാന് രാജാവിനോടുരാജാവു ബഹുമാനിപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്ന പുരുഷന്നു വേണ്ടി

7. And Haman saith unto the king, 'The man in whose honour the king hath delighted,

8. രാജാവു ധരിച്ചുവരുന്ന രാജവസ്ത്രവും രാജാവു കയറുന്ന കുതിരയും അവന്റെ തലയില് വെക്കുന്ന രാജകിരീടവും കൊണ്ടുവരട്ടെ.

8. let them bring in royal clothing that the king hath put on himself, and a horse on which the king hath ridden, and that the royal crown be put on his head,

9. വസ്ത്രവും കുതിരയും രാജാവിന്റെ അതിശ്രേഷ്ഠപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരില് ഒരുത്തന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കേണം; രാജാവു ബഹുമാനിപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു പുരുഷനെ ആ വസ്ത്രം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു കുതിരപ്പുറത്തു കയറ്റി പട്ടണവീഥിയില് കൂടെ കൊണ്ടുനടന്നുരാജാവു ബഹുമാനിപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്ന പുരുഷന്നു ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യും എന്നു അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് വിളിച്ചുപറയേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. and to give the clothing and the horse into the hand of a man of the heads of the king, the chiefs, and they have clothed the man in whose honour the king hath delighted, and caused him to ride on the horse in a broad place of the city, and called before him: Thus it is done to the man in whose honour the king hath delighted.'

10. രാജാവു ഹാമാനോടുനീ വേഗം ചെന്നു വസ്ത്രവും കുതിരയും നീ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു രാജാവിന്റെ വാതില്ക്കല് ഇരിക്കുന്ന യെഹൂദനായ മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിക്കു അങ്ങനെയൊക്കെയും ചെയ്ക; നീ പറഞ്ഞതില് ഒന്നും കുറെച്ചുകളയരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

10. And the king saith to Haman, 'Haste, take the clothing and the horse, as thou hast spoken, and do so to Mordecai the Jew, who is sitting in the gate of the king; there doth not fall a thing of all that thou hast spoken.'

11. അപ്പോള് ഹാമാന് വസ്ത്രവും കുതിരയും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയെ വസ്ത്രം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു കുതിരപ്പുറത്തു കയറ്റി പട്ടണവീഥിയില്കൂടെ കൊണ്ടുനടന്നുരാജാവു ബഹുമാനിപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്ന പുരുഷന്നു ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യും എന്നു അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.

11. And Haman taketh the clothing, and the horse, and clothed Mordecai, and causeth him to ride in a broad place of the city, and calleth before him, 'Thus it is done to the man in whose honour the king hath delighted.'

12. മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായി രാജാവിന്റെ വാതില്ക്കല് മടങ്ങിവന്നു. ഹാമാനോ ദുഃഖിതനായി തലമൂടിയുംകൊണ്ടു വേഗത്തില് വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോയി.

12. And Mordecai turneth back unto the gate of the king, and Haman hath been hastened unto his house mourning, and with covered head,

13. തനിക്കു സംഭവിച്ചതൊക്കെയും ഹാമാന് ഭാര്യയായ സേരെശിനോടും തന്റെ സകല സ്നേഹിതന്മാരോടും വിവരിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു. അവന്റെ വിദ്വാന്മാരും അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ സേരെശും അവനോടുമൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയുടെ മുമ്പില് നീ വീഴുവാന് തുടങ്ങി; അവന് യെഹൂദ്യവംശക്കാരനാകുന്നു എങ്കില് നീ അവനെ ജയിക്കയില്ല; അവനോടു തോറ്റുപോകെയുള്ള എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. and Haman recounteth to Zeresh his wife, and to all his friends, all that hath met him, and his wise men say to him, and Zeresh his wife, 'If Mordecai [is] of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou art not able for him, but dost certainly fall before him.'

14. അവര് അവനോടു സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് രാജാവിന്റെ ഷണ്ഡന്മാര് വന്നു എസ്ഥേര് ഒരുക്കിയവിരുന്നിന്നു ഹാമാനെ വേഗത്തില് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

14. They are yet speaking with him, and eunuchs of the king have come, and haste to bring in Haman unto the banquet that Esther hath made.
