1. ആദാര്മാസമായ പന്ത്രണ്ടാം മാസം പതിമ്മൂന്നാം തിയ്യതി രാജാവിന്റെ കല്പനയും തീര്പ്പും നടത്തുവാന് അടുത്തപ്പോള് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ശത്രുക്കള് അവരുടെ നേരെ പ്രാബല്യം പ്രാപിക്കും എന്നു ആശിച്ചതും നേരെ മറിച്ചു യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും തങ്ങളുടെ വൈരികളുടെ നേരെ പ്രാബല്യം പ്രാപിച്ചതുമായ ദിവസത്തില് തന്നേ

1. Now in the twelfth month, that [is], the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when the king's commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated them;)

2. അഹശ്വേരോശ്രാജാവിന്റെ സകലസംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലും യെഹൂദന്മാര് തങ്ങളുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങളില് തങ്ങളോടു ദോഷം ചെയ്വാന് ഭാവിച്ചവരെ കയ്യേറ്റം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി; അവരെയുള്ള പേടി സകല ജാതികളുടെയുംമേല് വീണിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ആര്ക്കും അവരോടു എതിര്ത്തുനില്പാന് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

2. The Jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their harm: and no man could withstand them; for the fear of them fell upon all people.

3. സകലസംസ്ഥാനപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും രാജപ്രതിനിധികളും ദേശാധിപതികളും രാജാവിന്റെ കാര്യക്കാരന്മാരും മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയെയുള്ള പേടി അവരുടെമേല് വീണിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും സഹായം ചെയ്തു.

3. And all the princes of the provinces, and the satraps, and the governors, and officers of the king, helped the Jews; because the fear of Mordecai fell upon them.

4. മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായി രാജധാനിയില് മഹാന് ആയിരുന്നു; മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായി എന്ന പുരുഷന് മേലക്കുമേല് മഹാനായി തീര്ന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ കീര്ത്തി സകലസംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലും പരന്നു.

4. For Mordecai [was] great in the king's house, and his fame went out throughout all the provinces: for this man Mordecai became greater and greater.

5. യെഹൂദന്മാര് തങ്ങളുടെ ശത്രുക്കളെ ഒക്കെയും വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നു മുടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; തങ്ങളെ പകെച്ചവരോടു തങ്ങള്ക്കു ബോധിച്ചതുപോലെ പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു.

5. Thus the Jews smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and slaughter, and destruction, and did what they would to those that hated them.

6. ശൂശന് രാജധാനിയില് യെഹൂദന്മാര് അഞ്ഞൂറുപേരെ കൊന്നുമുടിച്ചു.

6. And in Shushan the palace the Jews slew and destroyed five hundred men.

7. ,8 പര്ശന് ദാഥാ, ദല്ഫോന് , അസ്പാഥാ, പോറാഥാ, അദല്യാ,

7. And Parshandatha, and Dalphon, and Aspatha,

8. അരീദാഥാ, പര്മ്മസ്ഥാ, അരീസായി, അരീദായി, വയെസാഥാ എന്നിങ്ങനെ ഹമ്മെദാഥയുടെ മകനായ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ശത്രുവായ ഹാമാന്റെ പത്തു പുത്രന്മാരെയും അവര് കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

8. And Poratha, and Adalia, and Aridatha,

9. എന്നാല് കവര്ച്ചെക്കു അവര് കൈ നീട്ടിയില്ല.

9. And Parmashta, and Arisai, and Aridai, and Vajezatha,

10. ശൂശന് രാജധാനിയില് അവര് കൊന്നവരുടെ സംഖ്യ അന്നു തന്നേ രാജസന്നിധിയില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

10. The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, they slew; but on the spoil they laid not their hand.

11. അപ്പോള് രാജാവു എസ്ഥേര്രാജ്ഞിയോടുയെഹൂദന്മാര് ശൂശന് രാജധാനിയില് അഞ്ഞൂറുപേരെയും ഹാമാന്റെ പത്തു പുത്രന്മാരെയും കൊന്നുമടിച്ചു; രാജാവിന്റെ മറ്റു സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളില് അവര് എന്തു ചെയ്തിരിക്കും? ഇനിയും നിന്റെ അപേക്ഷ എന്തു? അതു നിനക്കു ലഭിക്കും; ഇനിയും നിന്റെ ആഗ്രഹം എന്തു? അതു നിവര്ത്തിച്ചുതരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. On that day the number of those that were slain in Shushan the palace was brought before the king.

12. അതിന്നു എസ്ഥേര്രാജാവിന്നു തിരുവുള്ളമുണ്ടായി ശൂശനിലെ യെഹൂദന്മാര് ഇന്നത്തെ തീര്പ്പുപോലെ നാളെയും ചെയ്വാന് അനുവദിക്കയും ഹാമാന്റെ പത്തു പുത്രന്മാരെയും കഴുമരത്തിന്മേല് തൂക്കിക്കയും ചെയ്യേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. And the king said to Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in Shushan the palace, and the ten sons of Haman; what have they done in the rest of the king's provinces? now what [is] thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: or what [is] thy request further? and it shall be done.

13. അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തുകൊള്വാന് രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചു ശൂശനില് തീര്പ്പു പരസ്യമാക്കി; ഹാമാന്റെ പത്തു പുത്രന്മാരെ അവര് തൂക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

13. Then said Esther, If it shall please the king, let it be granted to the Jews who [are] in Shushan to do to morrow also according to this day's decree, and let Haman's ten sons be hanged upon the gallows.

14. ശൂശനിലെ യെഹൂദന്മാര് ആദാര്മാസം പതിനാലാം തിയ്യതിയും ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി ശൂശനില് മുന്നൂറുപേരെ കൊന്നു; എങ്കിലും കവര്ച്ചെക്കു അവര് കൈ നീട്ടിയില്ല.

14. And the king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and they hanged Haman's ten sons.

15. രാജാവിന്റെ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലെ ശേഷം യെഹൂദന്മാര് ആദാര് മാസം പതിമ്മൂന്നാം തിയ്യതി ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി തങ്ങളുടെ ജീവരക്ഷെക്കായി പൊരുതു ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞു വിശ്രമം പ്രാപിച്ചു. അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ വൈരികളില് എഴുപത്തയ്യായിരം പേരെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു എങ്കിലും കവര്ച്ചെക്കു കൈ നീട്ടിയില്ല.

15. For the Jews that [were] in Shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and slew three hundred men at Shushan; but on the spoil they laid not their hand.

16. ആ മാസം പതിന്നാലാം തിയ്യതിയോ അവര് വിശ്രമിച്ചു വിരുന്നും സന്തോഷവുമുള്ള ദിവസമായിട്ടു അതിനെ ആചരിച്ചു.

16. But the other Jews that [were] in the king's provinces gathered themselves together, and defended their lives, and had rest from their enemies, and slew of their foes seventy and five thousand, but they laid not their hands on the spoil,

17. ശൂശനിലെ യെഹൂദന്മാര് ആ മാസം പതിമ്മൂന്നാം തിയ്യതിയും പതിന്നാലാം തിയ്യതിയും ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി; പതിനഞ്ചാം തിയ്യതി അവര് വിശ്രമിച്ചു അതിനെ വിരുന്നും സന്തോഷവുമുള്ള ദിവസമായിട്ടു ആചരിച്ചു.

17. On the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the same they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

18. അതുകൊണ്ടു മതിലില്ലാത്ത പട്ടണങ്ങളില് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന നാട്ടുപുറങ്ങളിലെ യെഹൂദന്മാര് ആദാര്മാസം പതിന്നാലാം തിയ്യതിയെ സന്തോഷവും വിരുന്നും ഉള്ള ദിവസവും ഉത്സവദിനവും ആയിട്ടു ആചരിക്കയും തമ്മില് തമ്മില് സമ്മാനങ്ങള് കൊടുത്തയക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

18. But the Jews that [were] at Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth [day] of the month, and on the fourteenth of it; and on the fifteenth [day] of the same they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

19. ആണ്ടുതോറും ആദാര്മാസം പതിന്നാലും പതിനഞ്ചും തിയ്യതിയെ യെഹൂദന്മാര് തങ്ങളുടെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞു വിശ്രമിച്ച ദിവസങ്ങളായിട്ടു ദുഃഖം അവര്ക്കും സന്തോഷമായും വിലാപം ഉത്സവമായും തീര്ന്ന മാസമായിട്ടും ആചരിക്കേണമെന്നും

19. Therefore the Jews of the villages, that dwelt in the unwalled towns, made the fourteenth day of the month Adar [a day of] gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of sending portions one to another.

20. അവയെ വിരുന്നും സന്തോഷവുമുള്ള നാളുകളും തമ്മില് തമ്മില് സമ്മാനങ്ങളും ദരിദ്രന്മാര്ക്കും ദാനധര്മ്മങ്ങളും കൊടുക്കുന്ന നാളുകളും ആയിട്ടു ആചരിക്കേണമെന്നും

20. And Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters to all the Jews that [were] in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, [both] near and far,

21. അഹശ്വേരോശ്രാജാവിന്റെ സകലസംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലും സമീപത്തും ദൂരത്തും ഉള്ള സകലയെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും ചട്ടമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായി ഈ കാര്യങ്ങള് എഴുതി അവര്ക്കും എഴുത്തു അയച്ചു.

21. To establish [this] among them, that they should keep the fourteenth day of the month Adar, and the fifteenth day of the same, yearly,

22. അങ്ങനെ യെഹൂദന്മാര് തങ്ങള് തുടങ്ങിയിരുന്നതും മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായി തങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരുന്നതുമായ കാര്യം ഒരു ചട്ടമായി കൈക്കൊണ്ടു.

22. As the days in which the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned to them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.

23. ആഗാഗ്യനായ ഹമ്മെദാഥയുടെ മകനായി എല്ലാ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെയും ശത്രുവായ ഹാമാന് യെഹൂദന്മാരെ നശിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരുടെ നേരെ ഉപായം ചിന്തിക്കയും അവരെ നശിപ്പിച്ചു മുടിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു പൂരെന്ന ചീട്ടു ഇടുവിക്കയും

23. And the Jews undertook to do as they had begun, and as Mordecai had written to them;

24. കാര്യം രാജാവിന്നു അറിവു കിട്ടിയപ്പോള് അവന് യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും വിരോധമായി ചിന്തിച്ചിരുന്ന ഉപായം അവന്റെ തലയിലേക്കു തന്നെ തിരിയുവാനും അവനെയും അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും കഴുമരത്തിന്മേല് തൂക്കിക്കളവാനും രാജാവു രേഖാമൂലം കല്പിക്കയും ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് ആ നാളുകള്ക്കു പൂര് എന്ന പദത്താല് പൂരീം എന്നു പേര് വിളിച്ചു.

24. Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast Pur, that [is], the lot, to consume them, and to destroy them;

25. ഈ എഴുത്തിലെ സകലവൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും ആ കാര്യത്തില് അവര് തന്നേ കണ്ടവയും അവര്ക്കും സംഭവിച്ചവയും നിമിത്തം

25. But when [Esther] came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked plot, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.

26. യെഹൂദന്മാര് ഈ രണ്ടു ദിവസങ്ങളെ അവയുടെ ചട്ടവും കാലവും അനുസരിച്ചു ആണ്ടുതോറും വീഴ്ചകൂടാതെ ആചരിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണവും

26. Therefore they called these days Purim after the name of Pur. Therefore for all the words of this letter, and [of that] which they had seen concerning this matter, and which had come to them,

27. ഈ ദിവസങ്ങള് തലമുറതലമുറയായി സകലവംശങ്ങളിലും സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലും പട്ടണങ്ങളിലും ഔര്ക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണവും ഈ പൂരീംദിവസങ്ങള് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ മദ്ധ്യേനിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകയോ അവയുടെ ഔര്മ്മ തങ്ങളുടെ സന്തതിയില്നിന്നു വിട്ടു പോകയോ ചെയ്യാത്തപ്രകാരവും തങ്ങള്ക്കും സന്തതികള്ക്കും അവരോടു ചേരുവാനുള്ള എല്ലാവര്ക്കും ചട്ടമായി കൈക്കൊണ്ടു.

27. The Jews ordained, and took upon them, and upon their seed, and upon all such as joined themselves to them, so as it should not fail, that they would keep these two days according to their writing, and according to their [appointed] time every year;

28. പൂരീം സംബന്ധിച്ച ഈ രണ്ടാം ലേഖനം സ്ഥിരമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അബീഹയീലിന്റെ മകളായ എസ്ഥേര്രാജ്ഞിയും യെഹൂദനായ മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയും സര്വ്വാധികാരത്തോടുംകൂടെ എഴുത്തു എഴുതി.

28. And [that] these days [should be] remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city; and [that] these days of Purim should not fail [to be observed] among the Jews, nor the memorial of them perish from their seed.

29. യെഹൂദനായ മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയും എസ്ഥേര്രാജ്ഞിയും അവര്ക്കും ചട്ടമാക്കിയിരുന്നതുപോലെയും അവര് തന്നേ തങ്ങളുടെ ഉപവാസത്തിന്റെയും കരച്ചലിന്റെയും സംഗതികളെ തങ്ങള്ക്കും സന്തതികള്ക്കും ചട്ടമാക്കിയിരുന്നതുപോലെയും ഈ പൂരീംദിവസങ്ങളെ നിശ്ചിതസമയത്തു തന്നേ സ്ഥിരമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു

29. Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote with all authority, to confirm this second letter of Purim.

30. അവന് അഹശ്വേരോശിന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിലുള്പ്പെട്ട നൂറ്റിരുപത്തേഴു സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലെ സകല യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും സമാധാനവും സത്യവുമായുള്ള വാക്കുകളോടു കൂടിയ എഴുത്തു അയച്ചു.

30. And he sent the letters to all the Jews, to the hundred twenty and seven provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, [with] words of peace and truth,

31. ഇങ്ങനെ എസ്ഥേരിന്റെ ആജ്ഞയാല് പൂരീംസംബന്ധിച്ച കാര്യങ്ങള് ഉറപ്പായി അതു പുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിവെച്ചു.

31. To confirm these days of Purim in their times [appointed], according as Mordecai the Jew and Esther the queen had established for them, and as they had decreed for themselves and for their seed, the matters of the fastings and their lamentations.
