1. ബാബേല് നദികളുടെ തീരത്തു ഞങ്ങള് ഇരുന്നു, സീയോനെ ഔര്ത്തപ്പോള് ഞങ്ങള് കരഞ്ഞു.

3. ഞങ്ങളെ ബദ്ധരാക്കിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയവര്സീയോന് ഗീതങ്ങളില് ഒന്നു ചൊല്ലുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ഗീതങ്ങളെയും ഞങ്ങളെ പീഡിപ്പിച്ചവര് സന്തോഷത്തെയും ഞങ്ങളോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

3. for there our captors asked us for songs, our tormentors demanded songs of joy; they said, 'Sing us one of the songs of Zion!'

4. ഞങ്ങള് യഹോവയുടെ ഗീതം അന്യദേശത്തു പാടുന്നതെങ്ങനെ?

4. How can we sing the songs of the LORD while in a foreign land?

5. യെരൂശലേമേ, നിന്നെ ഞാന് മറക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് എന്റെ വലങ്കൈ മറന്നു പോകട്ടെ.

5. If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget [its skill].

6. നിന്നെ ഞാന് ഔര്ക്കാതെ പോയാല്, യെരൂശലേമിനെ എന്റെ മുഖ്യസന്തോഷത്തെക്കാള് വിലമതിക്കാതെ പോയാല്, എന്റെ നാവു അണ്ണാക്കിനോടു പറ്റിപ്പോകട്ടെ.

6. May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not consider Jerusalem my highest joy.

7. ഇടിച്ചുകളവിന് , അടിസ്ഥാനംവരെ അതിനെ ഇടിച്ചുകളവിന് ! എന്നിങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞ ഏദോമ്യര്ക്കായി യഹോവേ, യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ നാള് ഔര്ക്കേണമേ.

7. Remember, O LORD, what the Edomites did on the day Jerusalem fell. 'Tear it down,' they cried, 'tear it down to its foundations!'

8. നാശം അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ബാബേല്പുത്രിയേ, നീ ഞങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ നിന്നോടു ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ഭാഗ്യവാന് . നിന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ പിടിച്ചു പാറമേല് അടിച്ചുകളയുന്നവന് ഭാഗ്യവാന് .
