1. ദൈവം യിസ്രായേലിന്നു, നിര്മ്മലഹൃദയമുള്ളവര്ക്കും തന്നേ, നല്ലവന് ആകുന്നു നിശ്ചയം.

1. A Psalm of Asaph. Truly God is good to Israel, to such as are of a pure heart.

2. എന്നാല് എന്റെ കാലുകള് ഏകദേശം ഇടറി; എന്റെ കാലടികള് ഏറക്കുറെ വഴുതിപ്പോയി.

2. But as for me, my feet were almost gone, my steps had well nigh slipped;

3. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ സൌഖ്യം കണ്ടിട്ടു എനിക്കു അഹങ്കാരികളോടു അസൂയ തോന്നി.

3. For I was envious at the arrogant, seeing the prosperity of the wicked.

4. അവര്ക്കും വേദന ഒട്ടുമില്ലല്ലോ; അവരുടെ ദേഹം തടിച്ചുരുണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. For they have no pangs in their death, and their body is well nourished;

5. അവര് മര്ത്യരെപ്പോലെ കഷ്ടത്തില് ആകുന്നില്ല; മറ്റു മനുഷ്യരെപ്പോലെ ബാധിക്കപ്പെടുന്നതുമില്ല.

5. They have not the hardships of mankind, neither are they plagued like [other] men:

6. ആകയാല് ഡംഭം അവര്ക്കും മാലയായിരിക്കുന്നു; ബലാല്ക്കാരം വസ്ത്രംപോലെ അവരെ ചുറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

6. Therefore pride encompasseth them as a neck-chain, violence covereth them [as] a garment;

7. അവരുടെ കണ്ണുകള് പുഷ്ടികൊണ്ടു ഉന്തിനിലക്കുന്നു. അവരുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ നിരൂപണങ്ങള് കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകുന്നു.

7. Their eyes stand out from fatness, they exceed the imaginations of their heart:

8. അവര് പരിഹസിച്ചു ദുഷ്ടതയോടെ ഭീഷണി പറയുന്നു; ഉന്നതഭാവത്തോടെ സംസാരിക്കുന്നു.

8. They mock and speak wickedly of oppression, they speak loftily:

9. അവര് വായ് ആകാശത്തോളം ഉയര്ത്തുന്നു; അവരുടെ നാവു ഭൂമിയില് സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നു.

9. They set their mouth in the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.

10. അതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് തന്റെ ജനത്തെ ഇതിലേക്കു തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് ധാരാളം വെള്ളം വലിച്ചു കുടിക്കുന്നു.

10. Therefore his people turn hither, and waters in fulness are wrung out to them.

11. ദൈവം എങ്ങനെ അറിയുന്നു? അത്യുന്നതന്നു അറിവുണ്ടോ? എന്നു അവര് പറയുന്നു.

11. And they say, How can *God know, and is there knowledge in the Most High?

12. ഇങ്ങനെ ആകുന്നു ദുഷ്ടന്മാര്; അവര് നിത്യം സ്വസ്ഥത അനുഭവിച്ചു സമ്പത്തു വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

12. Behold, these are the wicked, and they prosper in the world: they heap up riches.

13. എന്നാല് ഞാന് എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ ശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചതും എന്റെ കൈകളെ കുറ്റമില്ലായ്മയില് കഴുകിയതും വ്യര്ത്ഥമത്രേ.

13. Truly have I purified my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency:

14. ഞാന് ഇടവിടാതെ ബാധിതനായിരുന്നു; ഉഷസ്സുതോറും ദണ്ഡിക്കപ്പെട്ടും ഇരുന്നു.

14. For all the day have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.

15. ഞാന് ഇങ്ങനെ സംസാരിപ്പാന് വിചാരിച്ചെങ്കില് ഇതാ, ഞാന് നിന്റെ മക്കളുടെ തലമുറയോടു ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു.

15. If I said, I will speak thus, behold, I should be faithless to the generation of thy children.

16. ഞാന് ഇതു ഗ്രഹിപ്പാന് നിരൂപിച്ചപ്പോള് എനിക്കു പ്രയാസമായി തോന്നി;

16. When I thought to be able to know this, it was a grievous task in mine eyes;

17. ഒടുവില് ഞാന് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധ മന്ദിരത്തില് ചെന്നു അവരുടെ അന്തം എന്താകും എന്നു ചിന്തിച്ചു.

17. Until I went into the sanctuaries of *God; [then] understood I their end.

18. നിശ്ചയമായി നീ അവരെ വഴുവഴുപ്പില് നിര്ത്തുന്നു; നീ അവരെ നാശത്തില് തള്ളിയിടുന്നു.

18. Truly thou settest them in slippery places, thou castest them down in ruins.

19. എത്ര ക്ഷണത്തില് അവര് ശൂന്യമായ്പോയി! അവര് മെരുള്ചകളാല് അശേഷം മുടിഞ്ഞുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു.

19. How are they suddenly made desolate! they pass away, consumed with terrors.

20. ഉണരുമ്പോള് ഒരു സ്വപ്നത്തെപ്പോലെ കര്ത്താവേ, നീ ഉണരുമ്പോള് അവരുടെ രൂപത്തെ തുച്ഛീകരിക്കും.

20. As a dream, when one awaketh, wilt thou, Lord, on arising despise their image.

21. ഇങ്ങനെ എന്റെ ഹൃദയം വ്യസനിക്കയും എന്റെ അന്തരംഗത്തില് കുത്തുകൊള്ളുകയും ചെയ്തപ്പോള്

21. When my heart was in a ferment, and I was pricked in my reins,

22. ഞാന് പൊട്ടനും ഒന്നും അറിയാത്തവനും ആയിരുന്നു; നിന്റെ മുമ്പില് മൃഗംപോലെ ആയിരുന്നു.

22. Then I was brutish and knew nothing; I was [as] a beast with thee.

23. എന്നിട്ടും ഞാന് എപ്പോഴും നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നീ എന്നെ വലങ്കൈകൂ പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

23. Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden my right hand;

24. നിന്റെ ആലോചനയാല് നീ എന്നെ നടത്തും; പിന്നെത്തേതില് മഹത്വത്തിലേക്കു എന്നെ കൈക്കൊള്ളും.

24. Thou wilt guide me by thy counsel, and after the glory, thou wilt receive me.

25. സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് എനിക്കു ആരുള്ളു? ഭൂമിയിലും നിന്നെയല്ലാതെ ഞാന് ഒന്നും ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ല.

25. Whom have I in the heavens? and there is none upon earth I desire beside thee.

26. എന്റെ മാംസവും ഹൃദയവും ക്ഷയിച്ചുപോകുന്നു; ദൈവം എന്നേക്കും എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ പാറയും എന്റെ ഔഹരിയും ആകുന്നു.

26. My flesh and my heart faileth: God is the rock of my heart and my portion for ever.

27. ഇതാ, നിന്നോടു അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നവര് നശിച്ചുപോകും; നിന്നെ വിട്ടു പരസംഗം ചെയ്യുന്ന എല്ലാവരെയും നീ സംഹരിക്കും.

27. For behold, they that are far from thee shall perish; thou destroyest every one that goeth a whoring from thee.

28. എന്നാല് ദൈവത്തോടു അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നതു എനിക്കു നല്ലതു; നിന്റെ സകലപ്രവൃത്തികളെയും വര്ണ്ണിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിനെ എന്റെ സങ്കേതമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ആസാഫിന്റെ ധ്യാനം.

28. But as for me, it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord Jehovah, that I may declare all thy works.
