2. പരിജ്ഞാനമില്ലാത്ത മനസ്സു നന്നല്ല; തത്രപ്പെട്ടു കാല് വെക്കുന്നവനോ പിഴെച്ചുപോകുന്നു.

3. മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഭോഷത്വം അവന്റെ വഴിയെ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു; അവന്റെ ഹൃദയമോ യഹോവയോടു മുഷിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു.

3. The folly of a man spoils his ways, and he blames God in his heart.

4. സമ്പത്തു സ്നേഹിതന്മാരെ വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; എളിയവനോ കൂട്ടുകാരനോടു അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. Wealth acquires many friends, but the poor is deserted even of the friend he has.

5. കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷിക്കു ശിക്ഷ വരാതിരിക്കയില്ല; ഭോഷകു നിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകയുമില്ല.

5. A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that accuses unjustly shall not escape.

6. പ്രഭുവിന്റെ പ്രീതി സമ്പാദിപ്പാന് പലരും നോക്കുന്നു; ദാനം ചെയ്യുന്നവന്നു ഏവനും സ്നേഹിതന് .

6. Many court the favor of kings, but every bad man becomes a reproach to [another] man.

7. ദരിദ്രന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെല്ലാം അവനെ പകെക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ സ്നേഹിതന്മാര് എത്ര അധികം അകന്നുനിലക്കും? അവന് വാക്കു തിരയുമ്പോഴേക്കു അവരെ കാണ്മാനില്ല.

7. Everyone who hates his poor brother shall also be far from friendship. Good understanding will draw near to them that know it, and a sensible man will find it. He that does much harm perfects mischief, and he that used provoking words shall not escape.

8. ബുദ്ധി സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നവന് തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു; ബോധം കാത്തുകൊള്ളുന്നവന് നന്മ പ്രാപിക്കും.

8. He that procures wisdom loves himself, and he that keeps wisdom shall find good.

9. കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷിക്കു ശിക്ഷ വരാതിരിക്കയില്ല; ഭോഷകു നിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന് നശിച്ചുപോകും.

9. A false witness shall not be unpunished, and whosoever shall kindle mischief shall perish by it.

10. Delight does not suit a fool, nor [is it seemly] if a servant should begin to rule with haughtiness.

11. വിവേകബുദ്ധിയാല് മനുഷ്യന്നു ദീര്ഘക്ഷമവരുന്നു; ലംഘനം ക്ഷമിക്കുന്നതു അവന്നു ഭൂഷണം.

11. A merciful man is long suffering, and his triumph overtakes transgressors.

12. രാജാവിന്റെ ക്രോധം സിംഹഗര്ജ്ജനത്തിന്നു തുല്യം; അവന്റെ പ്രസാദമോ പുല്ലിന്മേലുള്ള മഞ്ഞുപോലെ.

12. The threatening of a king is like the roaring of a lion, but as dew on the grass, so is his favor.

13. മൂഢനായ മകന് അപ്പന്നു നിര്ഭാഗ്യം; ഭാര്യയുടെ കലമ്പല് തീരാത്ത ചോര്ച്ചപോലെ.

13. A foolish son is a disgrace to his father; vows [paid out] of the hire of a harlot are not pure.

14. ഭവനവും സമ്പത്തും പിതാക്കന്മാര് വെച്ചേക്കുന്ന അവകാശം; ബുദ്ധിയുള്ള ഭാര്യയോ യഹോവയുടെ ദാനം.

14. Fathers divide house and substance to their children, but a wife is suited to a man by the Lord.

15. മടി ഗാഢനിദ്രയില് വീഴിക്കുന്നു; അലസചിത്തന് പട്ടണികിടക്കും.

15. Cowardice possesses the effeminate man, and the soul of the sluggard shall hunger.

16. കല്പന പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നവന് പ്രാണനെ കാക്കുന്നു; നടപ്പു സൂക്ഷിക്കാത്തവനോ മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കും.

16. He that keeps the commandment keeps his own soul, but he that despises his ways shall perish.

17. എളിയവനോടു കൃപ കാട്ടുന്നവന് യഹോവേക്കു വായ്പ കൊടുക്കുന്നു; അവന് ചെയ്ത നന്മെക്കു അവന് പകരം കൊടുക്കും.

20. Hear, son, the instruction of your father, that you may be wise in your latter days.

21. മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തില് പല വിചാരങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടു; യഹോവയുടെ ആലോചനയോ നിവൃത്തിയാകും.

21. [There are] many thoughts in a man's heart, but the counsel of the Lord abides forever.

22. മനുഷ്യന് തന്റെ മനസ്സുപോലെ ദയ കാണിക്കും; ഭോഷകു പറയുന്നവനെക്കാള് ദരിദ്രന് ഉത്തമന് .

22. Mercy is a fruit to a man, and a poor man is better than a rich liar.

23. യഹോവാഭക്തി ജീവഹേതുകമാകുന്നു; അതുള്ളവന് തൃപ്തനായി വസിക്കും; അനര്ത്ഥം അവന്നു നേരിടുകയില്ല.

23. The fear of the Lord is life to a man; and he shall lodge without fear in places where knowledge is not seen.

24. മടിയന് തന്റെ കൈ തളികയില് പൂത്തുന്നു; വായിലേക്കു തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുവരികയില്ല.

24. He that unjustly hides his hands in his bosom, will not even bring them up to his mouth.

25. പരിഹാസിയെ അടിച്ചാല് അല്പബുദ്ധി വിവേകം പഠിക്കും; ബുദ്ധിമാനെ ശാസിച്ചാല് അവന് പരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിക്കും.

25. When a pestilent character is scourged, a simple man is made wiser, and if you reprove a wise man, he will understand discretion.

26. അപ്പനെ ഹേമിക്കയും അമ്മയെ ഔടിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ലജ്ജയും അപമാനവും വരുത്തുന്ന മകനാകുന്നു.

26. He that dishonors his father, and drives away his mother, shall be disgraced and shall be exposed to reproach.

27. മകനേ, പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുമാറേണ്ടതിന്നുള്ള ഉപദേശം കേള്ക്കുന്നതു മതിയാക്കുക.

27. A son who ceases to attend to the instruction of a father will cherish evil designs.

28. നിസ്സാരസാക്ഷി ന്യായത്തെ പരിഹസിക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വായ് അകൃത്യത്തെ വിഴുങ്ങുന്നു.

28. He that becomes surety for a foolish child will despise the ordinance, and the mouth of ungodly men shall drink down judgment.

29. പരിഹാസികള്ക്കായി ശിക്ഷാവിധിയും മൂഢന്മാരുടെ മുതുകിന്നു തല്ലും ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

29. Scourges are preparing for the intemperate, and punishments likewise for fools.
