1. കൂടക്കൂടെ ശാസന കേട്ടിട്ടും ശാഠ്യം കാണിക്കുന്നവന് നീക്കുപോക്കില്ലാതെ പെട്ടെന്നു നശിച്ചുപോകും.

1. Whoever is stiff-necked under reproof will be suddenly and irremediably broken.

2. നീതിമാന്മാര് വര്ദ്ധിക്കുമ്പോള് ജനം സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന് ആധിപത്യം നടത്തുമ്പോഴോ ജനം നെടുവീര്പ്പിടുന്നു.

2. When the upright are on the increase, the people rejoice; when the wicked are in power, the people groan.

3. ജ്ഞാനത്തില് ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവന് തന്റെ അപ്പനെ സന്തോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; വേശ്യകളോടു സഹവാസം ചെയ്യുന്നവനോ തന്റെ സമ്പത്തു നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

3. The lover of Wisdom makes his father glad, but the patron of prostitutes fritters his wealth away.

4. രാജാവു ന്യായപാലനത്താല് രാജ്യത്തെ നിലനിര്ത്തുന്നു; നികുതി വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നവനോ അതിനെ നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

4. A king gives a country stability by justice, an extortioner brings it to ruin.

5. കൂട്ടുകാരനോടു മുഖസ്തുതി പറയുന്നവന് അവന്റെ കാലിന്നു ഒരു വല വിരിക്കുന്നു.

5. Whoever flatters his companion spreads a net for his feet.

6. ദുഷ്കര്മ്മി തന്റെ ലംഘനത്തില് കുടുങ്ങുന്നു; നീതിമാനോ ഘോഷിച്ചാനന്ദിക്കുന്നു.

6. In the sin of the wicked lies a snare, but the upright exults and rejoices.

7. നീതിമാന് അഗതികളുടെ കാര്യം അറിയുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടനോ പരിജ്ഞാനം ഇന്നതെന്നു അറിയുന്നില്ല.

7. The upright understands the cause of the weak, the wicked has not the wit to understand it.

8. പരിഹാസികള് പട്ടണത്തില് കോപാഗ്നി ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. ജ്ഞാനികളോ ക്രോധത്തെ ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

8. Scoffers set a city in ferment, but the wise moderate anger.

9. ജ്ഞാനിക്കും ഭോഷന്നും തമ്മില് വാഗ്വാദം ഉണ്ടായിട്ടു അവന് കോപിച്ചാലോ ചിരിച്ചാലോ ശമനം വരികയില്ല.

9. Let someone wise argue with a fool, anger and good humour alike will be wasted.

10. രക്തപാതകന്മാര് നിഷ്കളങ്കനെ ദ്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; നേരുള്ളവരോ അവന്റെ പ്രാണരക്ഷ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.

10. The bloodthirsty hate the honest, but the upright seek them out.

11. മൂഢന് തന്റെ കോപത്തെ മുഴുവനും വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു; ജ്ഞാനിയോ അതിനെ അടക്കി ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

11. The fool blurts out every angry feeling, but the wise subdues and restrains them.

12. അധിപതി നുണ കേള്പ്പാന് തുടങ്ങിയാല് അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരൊക്കെയും ദുഷ്ടന്മാരാകും.

12. When a ruler listens to false reports, all his ministers will be scoundrels.

13. ദരിദ്രനും പീഡകനും തമ്മില് എതിര്പെടുന്നു; ഇരുവരുടെയും കണ്ണു യഹോവ പ്രകാശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

13. Poor and oppressor are found together, Yahweh gives light to the eyes of both.

14. അഗതികള്ക്കു വിശ്വസ്തതയോടെ ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്യുന്ന രാജാവിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം എന്നേക്കും സ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കും.

14. The king who judges the weak with equity sees his throne set firm for ever.

15. വടിയും ശാസനയും ജ്ഞാനത്തെ നലകുന്നു; തന്നിഷ്ടത്തിന്നു വിട്ടിരുന്ന ബാലനോ അമ്മെക്കു ലജ്ജ വരുത്തുന്നു.

15. The stick and the reprimand bestow wisdom, a young man left to himself brings shame on his mother.

16. ദുഷ്ടന്മാര് പെരുകുമ്പോള് അതിക്രമം പെരുകുന്നു; നീതിമാന്മാരോ അവരുടെ വീഴ്ച കാണും.

16. When the wicked are on the increase, sin multiplies, but the upright will witness their downfall.

17. നിന്റെ മകനെ ശിക്ഷിക്ക; അവന് നിനക്കു ആശ്വാസമായ്തീരും; അവന് നിന്റെ മനസ്സിന്നു പ്രമോദംവരുത്തും.

17. Correct your child, and he will give you peace of mind; he will delight your soul.

18. വെളിപ്പാടു ഇല്ലാത്തെടത്തു ജനം മര്യാദവിട്ടു നടക്കുന്നു; ന്യായപ്രമാണം കാത്തുകൊള്ളുന്നവനോ ഭാഗ്യവാന് .

18. Where there is no vision the people get out of hand; happy are they who keep the law.

19. ദാസനെ ഗുണീകരിപ്പാന് വാക്കു മാത്രം പോരാ; അവന് അതു ഗ്രഹിച്ചാലും കൂട്ടാക്കുകയില്ലല്ലോ.

19. Not by words is a slave corrected: even if he understands, he will take no notice.

20. വാക്കില് ബദ്ധപ്പാടുള്ള മനുഷ്യനെ നീ കാണുന്നുവോ? അവനെക്കാള് മൂഢനെക്കുറിച്ചു അധികം പ്രത്യാശയുണ്ടു.

20. You see someone too ready of speech? There is more to be hoped for from a fool!

21. ദാസനെ ബാല്യംമുതല് ലാളിച്ചുവളര്ത്തുന്നവനോടു അവന് ഒടുക്കം ദുശ്ശാഠ്യം കാണിക്കും.

21. If a slave is pampered from childhood, he will prove ungrateful in the end.

22. കോപമുള്ളവന് വഴക്കുണ്ടാക്കുന്നു; ക്രോധമുള്ളവന് അതിക്രമം വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

22. The hot-head provokes disputes, someone in a rage commits all sorts of sins.

23. മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഗര്വ്വം അവനെ താഴ്ത്തിക്കളയും; മനോവിനയമുള്ളവനോ മാനം പ്രാപിക്കും.

23. Pride brings humiliation, whoever humbles himself will win honour.

24. കള്ളനുമായി പങ്കു കൂടുന്നവന് സ്വന്ത പ്രാണനെ പകെക്കുന്നു; അവന് സത്യവാചകം കേള്ക്കുന്നു; ഒന്നും പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നില്ലതാനും.

24. To hear the curse and disclose nothing is to share with the thief and to hate oneself.

25. മാനുഷഭയം ഒരു കണി ആകുന്നു; യഹോവയില് ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നവനോ രക്ഷപ്രാപിക്കും.

25. To be afraid of human beings is a snare, whoever trusts in Yahweh is secure.

26. അനേകര് അധിപതിയുടെ മുഖപ്രസാദം അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; മനുഷ്യന്റെ ന്യായവിധിയോ യഹോവയാല് വരുന്നു.

26. Many people seek a ruler's favour, but the rights of each come from Yahweh.

27. നീതികെട്ടവന് നീതിമാന്മാര്ക്കും വെറുപ്പു; സന്മാര്ഗ്ഗി ദുഷ്ടന്മാര്ക്കും വെറുപ്പു.

27. Abhorrent to the upright is the sinful, abhorrent to the wicked is one whose way is straight.
