1. മകനേ, എന്റെ ഉപദേശം മറക്കരുതു; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ കാത്തുകൊള്ളട്ടെ.

1. My son, do not forget my teaching, But let your heart keep my commandments;

2. അവ ദീര്ഘായുസ്സും ജീവകാലവും സമാധാനവും നിനക്കു വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചുതരും.

2. For length of days and years of life And peace they will add to you.

3. ദയയും വിശ്വസ്തതയും നിന്നെ വിട്ടുപോകരുതു; അവയെ നിന്റെ കഴുത്തില് കെട്ടിക്കൊള്ക; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ പലകയില് എഴുതിക്കൊള്ക.

3. Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart.

4. അങ്ങനെ നീ ദൈവത്തിന്നും മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും ബോദ്ധ്യമായ ലാവണ്യവും സല്ബുദ്ധിയും പ്രാപിക്കും.

4. So you will find favor and good repute In the sight of God and man.

5. Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.

6. നിന്റെ എല്ലാവഴികളിലും അവനെ നിനെച്ചുകൊള്ക; അവന് നിന്റെ പാതകളെ നേരെയാക്കും;

6. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.

7. നിനക്കു തന്നേ നീ ജ്ഞാനിയായ്തോന്നരുതു; യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു ദോഷം വിട്ടുമാറുക.

7. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and turn away from evil.

8. അതു നിന്റെ നാഭിക്കു ആരോഗ്യവും അസ്ഥികള്ക്കു തണുപ്പും ആയിരിക്കും.

8. It will be healing to your body And refreshment to your bones.

9. യഹോവയെ നിന്റെ ധനംകൊണ്ടും എല്ലാവിളവിന്റെയും ആദ്യഫലംകൊണ്ടും ബഹുമാനിക്ക.

9. Honor the LORD from your wealth And from the first of all your produce;

10. അങ്ങനെ നിന്റെ കളപ്പുരകള് സമൃദ്ധിയായി നിറയും; നിന്റെ ചക്കുകളില് വീഞ്ഞു കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകും.

10. So your barns will be filled with plenty And your vats will overflow with new wine.

11. മകനേ, യഹോവയുടെ ശിക്ഷയെ നിരസിക്കരുതു; അവന്റെ ശാസനയിങ്കല് മുഷികയും അരുതു.

11. My son, do not reject the discipline of the LORD Or loathe His reproof,

12. For whom the LORD loves He reproves, Even as a father [corrects] the son in whom he delights.

13. How blessed is the man who finds wisdom And the man who gains understanding.

14. അതിന്റെ സമ്പാദനം വെള്ളിയുടെ സമ്പാദനത്തിലും അതിന്റെ ലാഭം തങ്കത്തിലും നല്ലതു.

14. For her profit is better than the profit of silver And her gain better than fine gold.

15. അതു മുത്തുകളിലും വിലയേറിയതു; നിന്റെ മനോഹരവസ്തുക്കള് ഒന്നും അതിന്നു തുല്യമാകയില്ല.

15. She is more precious than jewels; And nothing you desire compares with her.

16. അതിന്റെ വലങ്കയ്യില് ദീര്ഘായുസ്സും ഇടങ്കയ്യില് ധനവും മാനവും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

16. Long life is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor.

17. അതിന്റെ വഴികള് ഇമ്പമുള്ള വഴികളും അതിന്റെ പാതകളെല്ലാം സമാധാനവും ആകുന്നു.

17. Her ways are pleasant ways And all her paths are peace.

18. അതിനെ പിടിച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നവര്ക്കും അതു ജീവ വൃക്ഷം; അതിനെ കരസ്ഥമാക്കുന്നവര് ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാര്.

18. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who hold her fast.

19. ജ്ഞാനത്താല് യഹോവ ഭൂമിയെ സ്ഥാപിച്ചു; വിവേകത്താല് അവന് ആകാശത്തെ ഉറപ്പിച്ചു.

19. The LORD by wisdom founded the earth, By understanding He established the heavens.

20. അവന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനത്താല് ആഴങ്ങള് പിളര്ന്നു; മേഘങ്ങള് മഞ്ഞു പൊഴിക്കുന്നു.

20. By His knowledge the deeps were broken up And the skies drip with dew.

21. മകനേ, ജ്ഞാനവും വകതിരിവും കാത്തുകൊള്ക; അവ നിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയില്നിന്നു മാറിപ്പോകരുതു.

21. My son, let them not vanish from your sight; Keep sound wisdom and discretion,

22. അവ നിനക്കു ജീവനും നിന്റെ കഴുത്തിന്നു അലങ്കാരവും ആയിരിക്കും.

22. So they will be life to your soul And adornment to your neck.

23. അങ്ങനെ നീ നിര്ഭയമായി വഴിയില് നടക്കും; നിന്റെ കാല് ഇടറുകയുമില്ല.

23. Then you will walk in your way securely And your foot will not stumble.

24. നീ കിടപ്പാന് പോകുമ്പോള് നിനക്കു പേടി ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല; കിടക്കുമ്പോള് നിന്റെ ഉറക്കം സുഖകരമായിരിക്കും.

24. When you lie down, you will not be afraid; When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

25. പെട്ടെന്നുള്ള പേടി ഹേതുവായും ദുഷ്ടന്മാര്ക്കും വരുന്ന നാശംനിമിത്തവും നീ ഭയപ്പെടുകയില്ല.

25. Do not be afraid of sudden fear Nor of the onslaught of the wicked when it comes;

26. യഹോവ നിന്റെ ആശ്രയമായിരിക്കും; അവന് നിന്റെ കാല് കുടുങ്ങാതവണ്ണം കാക്കും.

26. For the LORD will be your confidence And will keep your foot from being caught.

27. നന്മ ചെയ്വാന് നിനക്കു പ്രാപ്തിയുള്ളപ്പോള് അതിന്നു യോഗ്യന്മാരായിരിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കരുതു.

27. Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in your power to do [it].

28. നിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഉള്ളപ്പോള് കൂട്ടുകാരനോടുപോയിവരിക, നാളെത്തരാം എന്നു പറയരുതു.
2 കൊരിന്ത്യർ 8:12

28. Do not say to your neighbor, 'Go, and come back, And tomorrow I will give [it],' When you have it with you.

29. കൂട്ടുകാരന് സമീപേ നിര്ഭയം വസിക്കുമ്പോള്, അവന്റെ നേരെ ദോഷം നിരൂപിക്കരുതു.

29. Do not devise harm against your neighbor, While he lives securely beside you.

30. നിനക്കു ഒരു ദോഷവും ചെയ്യാത്ത മനുഷ്യനോടു നീ വെറുതെ ശണ്ഠയിടരുതു.

30. Do not contend with a man without cause, If he has done you no harm.

31. സാഹസക്കാരനോടു നീ അസൂയപ്പെടരുതു; അവന്റെ വഴികള് ഒന്നും തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കയുമരുതു.

31. Do not envy a man of violence And do not choose any of his ways.

32. വക്രതയുള്ളവന് യഹോവേക്കു വെറുപ്പാകുന്നു; നീതിമാന്മാര്ക്കോ അവന്റെ സഖ്യത ഉണ്ടു.

32. For the devious are an abomination to the LORD; But He is intimate with the upright.

33. യഹോവയുടെ ശാപം ദുഷ്ടന്റെ വീട്ടില് ഉണ്ടു; നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ വാസസ്ഥലത്തെയോ അവന് അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.

33. The curse of the LORD is on the house of the wicked, But He blesses the dwelling of the righteous.

34. പരിഹാസികളെ അവന് പരിഹസിക്കുന്നു; എളിയവക്കോ അവന് കൃപ നലകുന്നു.
യാക്കോബ് 4:6, 1 പത്രൊസ് 5:5

34. Though He scoffs at the scoffers, Yet He gives grace to the afflicted.

35. ജ്ഞാനികള് ബഹുമാനത്തെ അവകാശമാക്കും; ഭോഷന്മാരുടെ ഉയര്ച്ചയോ അപമാനം തന്നേ.

35. The wise will inherit honor, But fools display dishonor.
