1. മക്കളേ, അപ്പന്റെ പ്രബോധനം കേട്ടു വിവേകം പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പിന് .

1. Children, hear the instruction of a father, and pay attention to know understanding,

2. ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു സല്ബുദ്ധി ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരുന്നു; എന്റെ ഉപദേശം നിങ്ങള് ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതു.

2. for I give you good teaching; do not forsake my law.

3. ഞാന് എന്റെ അപ്പന്നു മകനും എന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു ഔമനയും ഏകപുത്രനും ആയിരുന്നു;

3. For I was my father's son, tender and an only one in the sight of my mother.

4. അവന് എന്നെ പഠിപ്പിച്ചു, എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ ഹൃദയത്തില് സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊള്ക; എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചു ജീവിക്ക.

4. And he taught me and said to me, Let your heart cling to my words; keep my commandments and live.

5. ജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്കവിവേകം നേടുക; മറക്കരുതു; എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുമാറുകയുമരുതു.

5. Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth.

6. അതിനെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതു; അതു നിന്നെ കാക്കും; അതില് പ്രിയം വെക്കുക; അതു നിന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കും;

6. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will keep you.

7. ജ്ഞാനംതന്നേ പ്രധാനം; ജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്ക; നിന്റെ സകലസമ്പാദ്യത്താലും വിവേകം നേടുക.

7. The first thing about wisdom is: Get wisdom. And with all your getting, get understanding.

8. അതിനെ ഉയര്ത്തുക; അതു നിന്നെ ഉയര്ത്തും; അതിനെ ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്താല് അതു നിനക്കു മാനം വരുത്തും.

8. Exalt her, and she will lift you up; she shall bring you to honor when you embrace her.

9. അതു നിന്റെ തലയെ അലങ്കാരമാല അണിയിക്കും; അതു നിന്നെ ഒരു മഹത്വകിരീടം ചൂടിക്കും.

9. She shall bestow a wreath of grace upon your head; she shall give you a crown of glory.

10. മകനേ കേട്ടു എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കൈക്കൊള്ക; എന്നാല് നിനക്കു ദീര്ഘായുസ്സുണ്ടാകും.

10. Oh my son, hear and receive my sayings, and the years of your life shall be many.

11. ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ മാര്ഗ്ഗം ഞാന് നിന്നെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നുനേരെയുള്ള പാതയില് ഞാന് നിന്നെ നടത്തുന്നു.

11. I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in straight tracks;

12. നടക്കുമ്പോള് നിന്റെ കാലടിക്കു ഇടുക്കം വരികയില്ല; ഔടുമ്പോള് നീ ഇടറുകയുമില്ല.

12. when you go, your steps shall not be constricted, and when you run, you shall not stumble.

13. പ്രബോധനം മുറുകെ പിടിക്ക; വിട്ടുകളയരുതു; അതിനെ കാത്തുകൊള്ക, അതു നിന്റെ ജീവനല്ലോ.

13. Take fast hold of instruction, do not let her go; keep her, for she is your life.

14. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ പാതയില് നീ ചെല്ലരുതു; ദുര്ജ്ജനത്തിന്റെ വഴിയില് നടക്കയുമരുതു;

14. Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not go in the way of evil.

15. അതിനോടു അകന്നുനില്ക്ക; അതില് നടക്കരുതു; അതു വിട്ടുമാറി കടന്നുപോക.

15. Avoid it, do not pass by it; turn from it and pass on.

16. അവര് ദോഷം ചെയ്തിട്ടല്ലാതെ ഉറങ്ങുകയില്ല; വല്ലവരെയും വീഴിച്ചിട്ടല്ലാതെ അവര്ക്കും ഉറക്കം വരികയില്ല.

16. For they do not sleep unless they have done evil, and their sleep is taken away unless they cause someone to fall.

17. ദുഷ്ടതയുടെ ആഹാരംകൊണ്ടു അവര് ഉപജീവിക്കുന്നു; ബലാല്ക്കാരത്തിന്റെ വീഞ്ഞു അവന് പാനം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

17. For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

18. നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പാതയോ പ്രഭാതത്തിന്റെ വെളിച്ചംപോലെ; അതു നട്ടുച്ചവരെ അധികമധികം ശോഭിച്ചു വരുന്നു.

18. But the path of the just is as the brightness of dawn, that keeps getting brighter until it is fully daytime.

19. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെവഴി അന്ധകാരംപോലെയാകുന്നു; ഏതിങ്കല് തട്ടി വീഴും എന്നു അവര് അറിയുന്നില്ല.

19. The way of the wicked is as darkness; they do not know at what they stumble.

20. മകനേ, എന്റെ വചനങ്ങള്ക്കു ശ്രദ്ധതരിക; എന്റെ മൊഴികള്ക്കു നിന്റെ ചെവി ചായിക്ക.

20. My son, pay attention to my sayings; extend your ear to my words;

21. അവ നിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയില്നിന്നു മാറിപ്പോകരുതു; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ നടുവില് അവയെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെക്കുക.

21. let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the center of your heart;

22. അവയെ കിട്ടുന്നവര്ക്കും അവ ജീവനും അവരുടെ സര്വ്വദേഹത്തിന്നും സൌഖ്യവും ആകുന്നു.

22. for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.

23. സകലജാഗ്രതയോടുംകൂടെ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ കാത്തുകൊള്ക; ജീവന്റെ ഉത്ഭവം അതില്നിന്നല്ലോ ആകുന്നതു.

23. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.

24. വായുടെ വക്രത നിങ്കല്നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളക; അധരങ്ങളുടെ വികടം നിങ്കല്നിന്നകറ്റുക.

24. Turn away from you the crooked mouth, and put perverse lips far from you.

25. നിന്റെ കണ്ണു നേരെ നോക്കട്ടെ; നിന്റെ കണ്ണിമ ചൊവ്വെ മുമ്പോട്ടു മിഴിക്കട്ടെ.

25. Let your eyes look straight ahead, and let your eyelids look straight before you.

26. നിന്റെ കാലുകളുടെ പാതയെ നിരപ്പാക്കുക; നിന്റെ വഴികളെല്ലാം സ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

26. Ponder the path of your feet, then all your ways will be established.

27. ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വലത്തോട്ടോ തിരിയരുതു; നിന്റെ കാലിനെ ദോഷം വിട്ടകലുമാറാക്കുക.

27. Do not turn to the right hand or to the left; remove your foot from evil.
