1. ഉസ്സീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ യോഥാമിന്റെ മകനായി യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ആഹാസിന്റെ കാലത്തു അരാമ്യരാജാവായ രെസീനും രെമല്യാവിന്റെ മകനായി യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ പേക്കഹൂം യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ നേരെ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്വാന് പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു; അതിനെ പിടിപ്പാന് അവര്ക്കും കഴിഞ്ഞില്ലതാനും.

1. And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, {that} Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up towards Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

2. അരാം എഫ്രയീമിനോടു യോജിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ദാവീദ്ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു അറിവുകിട്ടിയപ്പോള് അവന്റെ ഹൃദയവും അവന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഹൃദയവും കാട്ടിലെ വൃക്ഷങ്ങള് കാറ്റുകൊണ്ടു ഉലയുമ്പോലെ ഉലഞ്ഞുപോയി.

2. And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is confederate with Ephraim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind.

3. അപ്പോള് യഹോവ യെശയ്യാവോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതെന്തെന്നാല്നീയും നിന്റെ മകന് ശെയാര്-യാശൂബും അലക്കുകാരന്റെ വയലിലെ പെരുവഴിക്കല് മേലെക്കുളത്തിന്റെ നീര്പാത്തിയുടെ അറ്റത്തു ആഹാസിനെ എതിരേല്പാന് ചെന്നു അവനോടു പറയേണ്ടതു

3. Then said the LORD to Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shear-jashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller's field;

4. സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്കസാവധാനമായിരിക്ക; പുകയുന്ന ഈ രണ്ടു മുറിക്കൊള്ളിനിമിത്തം അരാമിന്റെയും രെസീന്റെയും രെമല്യാവിന് മകന്റെയും ഉഗ്രകോപംനിമിത്തം നീ ഭയപ്പെടരുതു; നിന്റെ ധൈര്യം ക്ഷയിച്ചുപോകയുമരുതു.

4. And say to him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be faint-hearted for the two tails of these smoking fire-brands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.

5. നാം യെഹൂദയുടെ നേരെ ചെന്നു അതിനെ വിഷമിപ്പിച്ചു മതില് ഇടിച്ചു കടന്നു താബെയലിന്റെ മകനെ അവിടെ രാജാവായി വാഴിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have taken evil counsel against thee, saying,

6. അരാമും എഫ്രയീമും രെമല്യാവിന്റെ മകനും നിന്റെ നേരെ ദുരാലോചന ചെയ്കകൊണ്ടു

6. Let us go up against Judah, and harass it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, {even} the son of Tabeal:

7. യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഅതു നടക്കയില്ല, സാധിക്കയുമില്ല.

7. Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

8. അരാമിന്നു തല ദമ്മേശെക്; ദമ്മേശക്കിന്നു തല രെസീന് അറുപത്തഞ്ചു സംവത്സരത്തിന്നകം എഫ്രയീം ജനമായിരിക്കാതവണ്ണം തകര്ന്നു പോകും.

8. For the head of Syria {is} Damascus, and the head of Damascus {is} Rezin; and within sixty five years shall Ephraim be broken, that it be not a people.

9. എഫ്രയീമിന്നു തല ശമര്യ്യ; ശമര്യ്യെക്കു തല രെമല്യാവിന്റെ മകന് ; നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വിശ്വാസം ഇല്ലെങ്കില് സ്ഥിരവാസവുമില്ല.

9. And the head of Ephraim {is} Samaria, and the head of Samaria {is} Remaliah's son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.

10. യഹോവ പിന്നെയും ആഹാസിനോടു

10. Moreover, the LORD spoke again to Ahaz, saying,

11. നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു താഴെ പാതാളത്തിലോ മീതെ ഉയരത്തിലോ ഒരു അടയാളം ചോദിച്ചുകൊള്ക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചതിന്നു ആഹാസ്

11. Ask thee a sign from the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the hight above.

12. ഞാന് ചോദിക്കയില്ല, യഹോവയെ പരീക്ഷിക്കയും ഇല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD.

13. അതിന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതുദാവീദ്ഗൃഹമേ, കേള്പ്പിന് ; മനുഷ്യരെ മുഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു പോരാഞ്ഞിട്ടോ നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ ദൈവത്തെക്കൂടെ മുഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു?

13. And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David? {Is it} a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?

14. അതു കൊണ്ടു കര്ത്താവു തന്നേ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഒരു അടയാളം തരുംകന്യക ഗര്ഭിണിയായി ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും; അവന്നു ഇാമ്മനൂവേല് എന്നു പേര് വിളിക്കും.

14. Therefore the LORD himself will give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

15. തിന്മ തള്ളി നന്മ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പാന് പ്രായമാകുംവരെ അവന് തൈരും തേനുംകൊണ്ടു ഉപജീവിക്കും.

15. Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.

16. തിന്മ തള്ളി നന്മ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പാന് ബാലന്നു പ്രായമാകുംമുമ്പെ, നീ വെറുക്കുന്ന രണ്ടു രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെയും ദേശം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കും.

16. For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken by both her kings.

17. യഹോവ നിന്റെമേലും നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്മേലും നിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിന്മേലും എഫ്രയീം യെഹൂദയെ വിട്ടുപിരിഞ്ഞ നാള്മുതല് വന്നിട്ടില്ലാത്തൊരു കാലം വരുത്തും; അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവിനെ തന്നേ.

17. The LORD will bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; {even} the king of Assyria.

18. അന്നാളില് യഹോവ മിസ്രയീമിലെ നദികളുടെ അറ്റത്തുനിന്നു കൊതുകിനെയും അശ്ശൂര്ദേശത്തുനിന്നു തേനീച്ചയെയും ചൂളകുത്തി വിളിക്കും.

18. And it shall come to pass in that day, {that} the LORD will hiss for the fly that {is} in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that {is} in the land of Assyria.

19. അവ ഒക്കെയും വന്നു ശൂന്യമായ താഴ്വരകളിലും പാറപ്പിളര്പ്പുകളിലും എല്ലാ മുള്പടര്പ്പുകളിലും എല്ലാ മേച്ചല് പുറങ്ങളിലും പറ്റും

19. And they shall come, and shall rest all of them in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rocks, and upon all thorns, and upon all bushes.

20. അന്നാളില് കര്ത്താവു നദിക്കു അക്കരെനിന്നു കൂലിക്കു വാങ്ങിയ ക്ഷൌരക്കത്തികൊണ്ടു, അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവിനെക്കൊണ്ടു തന്നേ, തലയും കാലും ക്ഷൌരം ചെയ്യും; അതു താടിയുംകൂടെ നീക്കും.

20. In the same day will the LORD shave with a razor that is hired, {namely}, by them beyond the river, by the king of Assyria, the head, and the hair of the feet: and it shall also consume the beard.

21. അന്നാളില് ഒരുത്തന് ഒരു പശുക്കിടാവിനെയും രണ്ടു ആട്ടിനെയും വളര്ത്തും.

21. And it shall come to pass in that day, {that} a man shall nourish a young cow, and two sheep;

22. അവയെ കറന്നു കിട്ടുന്ന പാലിന്റെ പെരുപ്പംകൊണ്ടു അവന് തൈരു തന്നേ കൊറ്റുകഴിക്കും; ദേശത്തു ശേഷിച്ചരിക്കുന്ന ഏവരുടെയും ആഹാരം തൈരും തേനും ആയിരിക്കും.

22. And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk {that} they shall give, he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.

23. അന്നാളില് ആയിരം വെള്ളിക്കാശു വിലയുള്ള ആയിരം മുന്തിരിവള്ളി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന സ്ഥലമൊക്കെയും മുള്ളും പറക്കാരയും പിടിച്ചുകിടക്കും.

23. And it shall come to pass in that day, {that} every place shall be, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand pieces of silver, it shall {even} be for briers and thorns.

24. ദേശമൊക്കെയും മുള്ളും പറക്കാരയും പിടിച്ചുകിടക്കുന്നതിനാല് മനുഷ്യര് അമ്പും വില്ലും എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു മാത്രമേ അവിടേക്കു ചെല്ലുകയുള്ളു.

24. With arrows and with bows shall {men} come thither; because all the land shall become briers and thorns.

25. തൂമ്പാകൊണ്ടു കിളെച്ചുവന്ന എല്ലാമലകളിലും മുള്ളും പറക്കാരയും പേടിച്ചിട്ടു ആരും പോകയില്ല; അതു കാളകളെ അഴിച്ചുവിടുവാനും ആടുകള് ചവിട്ടിക്കളവാനും മാത്രം ഉതകും.

25. And {on} all hills that shall be digged with the mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of lesser cattle.
