1. യോശീയാവിന്റെ മകനായി യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീമിന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ ആരംഭത്തിങ്കല് യഹോവയിങ്കല്നിന്നുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാടാവിതു;

1. The word that was addressed to Jeremiah about all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah (that is to say the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon).

2. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനീ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ പ്രാകാരത്തില് നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു, യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് നമസ്കരിപ്പാന് വരുന്ന സകല യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങളോടും പ്രസ്താവിപ്പാന് ഞാന് നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്ന സകലവചനങ്ങളെയും അവരോടു പ്രസ്താവിക്ക; ഒരു വാക്കും വിട്ടുകളയരുതു.

2. The prophet Jeremiah proclaimed it before all the people of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem:

3. 'For twenty-three years, from the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon, king of Judah, until today, the word of Yahweh has been addressed to me and I have never tired of speaking to you (but you have not listened.

4. എന്നാല് നീ അവരോടു പറയേണ്ടതുയഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് ഇടവിടാതെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചു പറയിച്ചിട്ടും നിങ്ങള് കൂട്ടാക്കാതിരുന്ന എന്റെ ദാസന്മാരായ പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ വചനങ്ങളെ കേള്പ്പാനും

4. Furthermore, Yahweh has untiringly sent you all his servants the prophets, but you have not listened or paid attention).

5. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പില് വെച്ച എന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെ അനുസരിച്ചുനടപ്പാനും നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കയില്ലെങ്കില്,

5. The message was this, 'Turn back, each one of you, from your evil behaviour and your evil actions, and you will go on living on the soil Yahweh long ago gave to you and your ancestors for ever.

6. ഞാന് ഈ ആലയത്തെ ശീലോവിന്നു തുല്യമാക്കി ഈ നഗരത്തെ ഭൂമിയിലുള്ള സകല ജാതികള്ക്കും ശാപവാക്യമാക്കിത്തീര്ക്കും.

6. (And do not follow other gods to serve and worship them, do not provoke me with things you yourselves have made, and then I shall not harm you.)

7. യിരെമ്യാവു ഈ വാക്കുകളെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില്വെച്ചു പറയുന്നതു പുരോഹിതന്മാരും പ്രവാചകന്മാരും സകല ജനവും കേട്ടു.

7. But you have not listened to me (Yahweh declares, so that you have now provoked me with things you yourselves have made, and thus harmed yourselves).'

8. എന്നാല് സകലജനത്തോടും പ്രസ്താവിപ്പാന് യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നതൊക്കെയും യിരെമ്യാവു പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു തീര്ന്നശേഷം, പുരോഹിതന്മാരും പ്രവാചകന്മാരും സകലജനവും അവനെ പിടിച്ചുനീ മരിക്കേണം നിശ്ചയം;

8. 'So-this is what Yahweh Sabaoth says, 'Since you have not listened to my words,

9. ഈ ആലയം ശീലോവിന്നു തുല്യമാകും, ഈ നഗരം നിവാസികള് ഇല്ലാതെ ശൂന്യമാകും എന്നു നീ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില് പ്രവചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതെന്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ജനമൊക്കെയും യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു കൂടി.

9. I shall now send for all the families of the north (Yahweh declares, that is, for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, my servant) and bring them down on this country and its inhabitants (and on all these surrounding nations); I shall curse them with utter destruction and make them an object of horror, of scorn, and ruin them for ever.

10. From them I shall banish the shouts of rejoicing and mirth, the voices of bridegroom and bride, the sound of the handmill and the light of the lamp;

11. പുരോഹിതന്മാരും പ്രവാചകന്മാരും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരോടും സകലജനത്തോടുംഈ മനുഷ്യന് മരണയോഗ്യന് ; അവന് ഈ നഗരത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി പ്രവചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു നിങ്ങള് സ്വന്തചെവികൊണ്ടു കേട്ടുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. and this whole country will be reduced to ruin and desolation, and these nations will be enslaved to the king of Babylon for seventy years.

12. അതിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവു സകലപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരോടും സര്വ്വജനത്തോടും പറഞ്ഞതുനിങ്ങള് കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന വാക്കുകളൊക്കെയും ഈ ആലയത്തിന്നും ഈ നഗരത്തിന്നും വിരോധമായി പ്രവചിപ്പാന് യഹോവ എന്നെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. (But when the seventy years are over, I shall punish the king of Babylon and that nation, Yahweh declares, for the wrong they have done, that is, the country of the Chaldaeans, and make it desolate for ever),

13. ആകയാല് നിങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ നടപ്പും പ്രവൃത്തികളും നന്നാക്കി, നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു കേട്ടനുസരിപ്പിന് ; എന്നാല് യഹോവ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വിരോധമായി അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന അനര്ത്ഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അനുതപിക്കും.

13. and against that country I shall perform all the words with which I have threatened it, that is, everything written in this book.' '

14. ഞാനോ ഇതാ നിങ്ങളുടെ കയ്യില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഇഷ്ടവും ന്യായവും ആയി തോന്നുന്നതുപോലെ എന്നോടു ചെയ്തുകൊള്വിന് .

14. What Jeremiah prophesied against all the nations. ('For these in their turn are to be enslaved to powerful nations and great kings, and I shall pay them back as their deeds and handiwork deserve.')

15. For Yahweh, the God of Israel, said this to me, 'Take this cup of the wine of wrath and make all the nations to whom I send you drink it;

16. അപ്പോള് പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും സകലജനവും പുരോഹിതന്മാരോടും പ്രവാചകന്മാരോടുംഈ മനുഷ്യന് മരണയോഗ്യനല്ല; അവന് നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില് അല്ലോ നമ്മോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. they will drink and reel and lose their wits, because of the sword I am sending among them.'

17. അനന്തരം ദേശത്തിലെ മൂപ്പന്മാരില് ചിലര് എഴുന്നേറ്റു ജനത്തിന്റെ സര്വ്വസംഘത്തോടും പറഞ്ഞതു

17. I took the cup from Yahweh's hand and made all the nations to whom Yahweh sent me drink it

18. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു മോരഷ്ട്യനായ മീഖായാവു സകലയെഹൂദാജനത്തോടും പ്രവചിച്ചുസീയോനേ വയല് പോലെ ഉഴുതുകളയും; യെരൂശലേം കലക്കുന്നായും ഈ ആലയമുള്ള പര്വ്വതം വനാന്തരഗിരികളായും തീരും എന്നിങ്ങനെ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. (Jerusalem and the towns of Judah, its kings and its chief men, to make them a ruin, an object of horror and derision and a curse, as is the case today):

19. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ഹിസ്കീയാവും സര്വ്വയെഹൂദയും അവനെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞുവോ? അവന് യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു, യഹോവയോടു ക്ഷമ യാചിക്കയും താന് അവര്ക്കും വരുത്തുമെന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്ന അനര്ത്ഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു യഹോവ അനുതപിക്കയും ചെയ്തില്ലയോ? നാമോ നമ്മുടെ പ്രാണന്നു വലിയോരു അനര്ത്ഥം വരുത്തുവാന് പോകുന്നു.

19. Pharaoh king of Egypt, his officials, his chief men and all his people,

20. അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ കിര്യ്യത്ത്--യെയാരീമില്നിന്നുള്ള ശെമയ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ ഊരീയാവു എന്നൊരുത്തന് യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില് പ്രവചിച്ചു; അവന് യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ സകലവാക്കുകളെയുംപോലെ ഈ നഗരത്തിന്നും ഈ ദേശത്തിന്നും വിരോധമായി പ്രവചിച്ചു.

20. with the whole conglomeration of peoples there (all the kings of the country of Uz); all the kings of the country of the Philistines, Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron and what is still left of Ashdod;

21. യെഹോയാക്കീംരാജാവു അവന്റെ സകലയുദ്ധവീരന്മാരും സകലപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും അവന്റെ വാക്കുകളെ കേട്ടപ്പോള്, രാജാവു അവനെ കൊന്നുകളവാന് വിചാരിച്ചു; ഊരീയാവു അതു കേട്ടു ഭയപ്പെട്ടു മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി.

21. Edom, Moab and the Ammonites;

22. യെഹോയാക്കീംരാജാവു ചില ആളുകളെ, അഖ്ബോരിന്റെ മകനായ എല്നാഥാനെയും അവനോടുകൂടെ മറ്റു ചിലരെയും മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു അയച്ചു.

22. (all) the kings of Tyre, (all) the kings of Sidon, the kings of the island across the sea;

23. അവര് ഊരീയാവെ മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു യെഹോയാക്കീംരാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവന് അവനെ വാള്കൊണ്ടു കൊന്നു അവന്റെ ശവത്തെ സാമാന്യജനത്തിന്റെ ശ്മശാനത്തില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

23. Dedan, Tema, Buz, all the people with shaven temples;

24. എന്നാല് യിരെമ്യാവെ ജനത്തിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു കൊല്ലാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ശാഫാന്റെ മകനായ അഹീക്കാം അവന്നു പിന്തുണയായിരുന്നു

24. all the kings of Arabia (and all the kings of the conglomeration of peoples) who live in the desert
