1. ഒരു പുരുഷന് തന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കയും അവള് അവനെ വിട്ടുപോയി മറ്റൊരു പുരുഷന്നു ഭാര്യയായി തീരുകയും ചെയ്തശേഷം അവന് അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് വീണ്ടും ചെല്ലുമോ? അങ്ങനെയുള്ള ദേശം മലിനമായ്പോകയില്ലയോ? നീയോ, പല ജാരന്മാരുമായി പരസംഗം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്നിട്ടും എന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിവരുവാന് നീ വിചാരിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

1. Commonly, when a man putteth away his wife, and she goeth from him, and marrieth with another, then the question is: should he resort unto her any more after that? Is not this field then defiled and unclean? But as for thee, thou hast played the harlot with many lovers, yet turn again to me, sayeth the LORD.

2. മൊട്ടക്കുന്നുകളിലേക്കു തലപൊക്കി നോക്കുക; നീ പരസംഗം ചെയ്യാത്ത സ്ഥലം ഏതുള്ളു? മരുഭൂമിയില് അരാബ്യര് എന്ന പോലെ നീ വഴികളില് അവര്ക്കായി പതിയിരുന്നു; നിന്റെ പരസംഗത്താലും വഷളത്വത്താലും ദേശത്തെ മലിനമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

2. Lift up thine eyes on every side, and look, if thou be not defiled. Thou hast waited for them in the streets, and as a murderer in the wilderness. thorow thy whoredoms and shameful blasphemies, is the land defiled.

3. അതുകൊണ്ടു മഴ നിന്നുപോയി; പിന്മഴ പെയ്തതുമില്ല; എന്നിട്ടും നീ വേശ്യയുടെ നെറ്റി കാണിച്ചു, നാണിക്കാതെയിരിക്കുന്നു.

3. This is the cause, that the rain and evening dew hath ceased. Thou hast gotten thee an whore's forehead, and canst not be ashamed.

4. നീ ഇന്നുമുതല് എന്നോടുഎന്റെ പിതാവേ, നീ എന്റെ യൌവനത്തിലെ സഖി എന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറകയില്ലയോ?

4. Else wouldest thou say unto me: O my father, thou art he that hast brought me up, and led me from my youth:

5. അവന് എന്നേക്കും കോപം സംഗ്രഹിക്കുമോ? അവന് സദാകാലം ദ്വേഷം വെച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമോ? എന്നിങ്ങനെ നീ പറഞ്ഞു ദുഷ്ടതകളെ പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു നിനക്കു സാധിച്ചിമിരിക്കുന്നു.

5. Wilt thou then put me away and cast me off for ever? Or wilt thou withdraw thyself clean from me? Nevertheless, thou speakest such words, but thou art ever doing worse and worse.

6. യോശീയാരാജാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു യഹോവ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുവിശ്വാസത്യാഗിനിയായ യിസ്രായേല് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതു നീ കണ്ടുവോ? അവള് ഉയരമുള്ള എല്ലാ മലകളിലും എല്ലാപച്ചമരത്തിന് കീഴിലും ചെന്നു അവിടെ പരസംഗം ചെയ്തു.

6. The LORD said also unto me: in the time of Josiah the king: Hast thou seen what that shrinking Israel hath done? how she hath run up upon all high hills, and among all thick trees, and there played the harlot:

7. ഇതൊക്കെയും ചെയ്തശേഷം അവള് എന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിവരും എന്നു ഞാന് വിചാരിച്ചുഎന്നാല് അവള് മടങ്ങിവന്നില്ല; വിശ്വാസപാതകിയായ യെഹൂദാ എന്ന അവളുടെ സഹോദരി അതു കണ്ടു.

7. hast thou seen also (when she had done all this) how I said unto her: that she should turn again unto me, and yet she is not returned? Judah that unfaithful sister of hers also saw this:

8. വിശ്വാസത്യാഗിനിയായ യിസ്രായേല് വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്ത ഹേതുവാല് തന്നേ ഞാന് അവളെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു ഉപേക്ഷണപത്രം കൊടുത്തതു വിശ്വാസപാതകിയായ യെഹൂദാ എന്ന അവളുടെ സഹോദരി കണ്ടിട്ടും ഭയപ്പെടാതെ അവളും ചെന്നു പരസംഗം ചെയ്തു.

8. Namely, that after I had well seen the advoutry of the shrinking harlot Israel, I put her away, and gave her a bill of divorcement. For all this, her unfaithful sister Judah was not ashamed, but went back and played the whore also.

9. മനോലഘുത്വത്തോടെ ചെയ്ത അവളുടെ പരസംഗംഹേതുവായി ദേശം മലിനമായ്പോയി; കല്ലിനോടും മരത്തോടും അവള് വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്തു.

9. Yea and the noise of her whoredom hath defiled the whole land. For she hath committed her advoutry with stones and stocks.

10. ഇതെല്ലാമായിട്ടും വിശ്വാസപാതകിയായ സഹോദരി യെഹൂദാ കപടമായിട്ടല്ലാതെ പൂര്ണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടെ എന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കു മടങ്ങിവന്നിട്ടില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

10. Nevertheless, her unfaithful sister Judah is not turned unto me again with her whole heart, but feignedly, sayeth the LORD.

11. വിശ്വാസത്യാഗിനിയായ യിസ്രായേല് വിശ്വാസപാതകിയായ യെഹൂദയെക്കാള് നീതിയുള്ളവളെന്നു യഹോവ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

11. And the LORD said unto me. The backslider Israel is more righteous, than the unfaithful Judah:

12. നീ ചെന്നു വടക്കോട്ടു നോക്കി ഈ വചനങ്ങളെ വിളിച്ചുപറകവിശ്വാസത്യാഗിനിയായ യിസ്രായേലേ, മടങ്ങിവരിക എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു കോപം കാണിക്കയില്ല; ഞാന് കരുണയുള്ളവന് ; എന്നേക്കും കോപം സംഗ്രഹിക്കയുമില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

12. and therefore go preach these words toward the north, and say: Thou shrinking Israel, turn again (sayeth the LORD) and I will not turn my face from you, for I am merciful, sayeth the LORD, and I will not alway bear displeasure against thee:

13. നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു നീ ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്തു. പച്ചമരത്തിന് കീഴിലൊക്കെയും അന്യന്മാരോടു ദുര്മ്മാര്ഗ്ഗമായി നടന്നതും എന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടനുസരിക്കാതെ ഇരുന്നതുമായ നിന്റെ അകൃത്യം സമ്മതിക്കമാത്രം ചെയ്ക എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

13. but on this condition, that thou know thy great blasphemy: Namely, that thou hast unfaithfully forsaken the LORD thy God, and hast made thyself partaker of strange gods under all green trees, but hast had no will to hear my voice, sayeth the LORD.

14. വിശ്വാസത്യാഗികളായ മക്കളേ, മടങ്ങിവരുവിന് എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു; ഞാനല്ലോ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭര്ത്താവു; ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ പട്ടണത്തില് ഒരുത്തനെയും വംശത്തില് രണ്ടുപേരെയും വീതം എടുത്തു സീയോനിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവരും.

14. O ye shrinking children, turn again, sayeth the LORD: and I will be married with you. For I will take one out of the city, and two out of one generation from among you, and bring you out of Sion:

15. ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എന്റെ മനസ്സിന്നൊത്ത ഇടയന്മാരെ നലക്കും; അവര് നിങ്ങളെ ജ്ഞാനത്തോടും ബുദ്ധിയോടും കൂടെ മേയിക്കും.

15. and I will give you herdmen after mine own mind, which shall feed you with learning and wisdom.

16. അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങള് ദേശത്തു വര്ദ്ധിച്ചുപെരുകുമ്പോള് ആ കാലത്തുയഹോവയുടെ നിയമപെട്ടകം എന്നു ഇനി പറകയില്ല, അതു മനസ്സില് വരികയില്ല, അതിനെ ഔര്ക്കയില്ല, ചെന്നു കാണുകയില്ല, ഇനി അതു ഉണ്ടാക്കുകയുമില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

16. Moreover, when ye be increased and multiplied in the land, then (sayeth the LORD) there shall no more boost be made of the ark of the LORD's Testament: No man shall think upon it, neither shall any man make mention of it: for from thence forth it shall neither be visited, nor honoured with gifts.

17. ആ കാലത്തു യെരൂശലേമിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ സിംഹാസനം എന്നു പേരാകും; സകലജാതികളും അവിടേക്കു, യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു തന്നേ, യഹോവയുടെ നാമം നിമിത്തം വന്നു ചേരും; തങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്ടഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ ശാഠ്യപ്രകാരം ഇനി നടക്കയുമില്ല.

17. Then shall Jerusalem be called the LORD's seat, and all Heathen shall be gathered unto it, for the name of the LORD's sake, which shall be set up at Jerusalem. And from that time forth, they shall follow no more the imagination of their own froward heart.

18. ആ കാലത്തു യെഹൂദാഗൃഹം യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹത്തോടു ചേര്ന്നു, അവര് ഒന്നിച്ചു വടക്കെ, ദിക്കില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു, ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര്ക്കും അവകാശമായി കൊടുത്ത ദേശത്തേക്കു വരും.

18. Then those that be of the house of Judah shall go into the house of Israel: and they shall come together out of the North, into the same land that I have given your fathers.

19. ഞാനോ നിന്നെ ദത്തെടുത്തു, നിനക്കു ജാതികളുടെ അതിഭംഗിയുള്ള അവകാശമായ മനോഹരദേശം നല്കേണ്ടതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചു; നീ എന്നെഎന്റെ പിതാവേ എന്നു വിളിക്കും, എന്നെ വിട്ടുമാറുകയുമില്ല എന്നും ഞാന് വിചാരിച്ചു.

19. I have shewed also, how I took thee up being but a child, and gave thee a pleasant land for thine heritage, yea and a goodly Hosts of the Heathen: and how I commanded thee, that thou shouldest call me father only, and not to shrink from me.

20. യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമേ, ഒരു ഭാര്യ ഭര്ത്താവിനോടു വിശ്വാസപാതകം ചെയ്തു അവനെ വിട്ടുകളയുന്നതുപോലെ നിങ്ങള് എന്നോടു വിശ്വാസപാതകം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

20. But like as a woman faileth her lover, so are ye unfaithful unto me (O ye house of Israel) sayeth the LORD.

21. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് വളഞ്ഞ വഴികളില് നടന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ മറന്നുകളഞ്ഞതിനാല് അവര് മൊട്ടക്കുന്നുകളിന്മേല് കരഞ്ഞു യാചിക്കുന്നതു കേള്ക്കുന്നു!

21. And therefore the voice of the children of Israel was heard on every side, weeping and wailing: for they have defiled their way, and forgotten God their LORD.

22. വിശ്വാസ ത്യാഗികളായ മക്കളേ, മടങ്ങിവരുവിന് ; ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ വിശ്വാസത്യാഗം മാറ്റിത്തരാം. ഇതാ, ഞങ്ങള് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുന്നു; നീ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയല്ലോ.

22. O ye shrinking children, turn again (saying: lo, we are thine, for thou art the LORD our God:) And so shall I heal your backturnings.

23. കുന്നുകളും പര്വ്വതങ്ങളിലെ കോലാഹലവും വ്യര്ത്ഥം; ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയില് മാത്രമേ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രക്ഷയുള്ളു.

23. The hills fall, and all the high pride of the mountains, but the health of Israel standeth only upon God our LORD.

24. ലജ്ജാവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളോ ഞങ്ങളുടെ യൌവനംമുതല് ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ സമ്പാദ്യത്തെയും അവരുടെ ആടുകളെയും കന്നുകാലികളെയും അവരുടെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും തിന്നുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

24. Confusion hath devoured our fathers' labour from our youth up: yea their sheep and bullocks, their sons and daughters.

25. ഞങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ലജ്ജയില് തന്നേ കിടക്കട്ടെ; ഞങ്ങളുടെ നാണം ഞങ്ങളെ മൂടട്ടെ; ഞങ്ങളും ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരും യൌവനംമുതല് ഇന്നുവരെയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു കേട്ടനുസരിച്ചിട്ടുമില്ല.

25. So do we also sleep in our confusion, and shame covereth us: for we and our fathers from our youth up unto this day have sinned against the LORD our God, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.
