1. എനിക്കു അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം; പഴം പറിച്ച ശേഷമെന്നപോലെയും മുന്തിരിപ്പഴം പറിച്ചശേഷം കാലാ പെറുക്കുന്നതുപോലെയും ഞാന് ആയല്ലോ! തിന്മാന് ഒരു മുന്തിരിക്കുലയും ഇല്ല; ഞാന് കൊതിക്കുന്ന അത്തിയുടെ തലപ്പഴവുമില്ല.

1. WOE IS me! For I am as when the summer fruits have been gathered, as when the vintage grapes have been gleaned and there is no cluster to eat, no first-ripe fig for which my appetite craves.

2. ഭക്തിമാന് ഭൂമിയില്നിന്നു നശിച്ചുപോയി, മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയില് നേരുള്ളവന് ആരുമില്ല; അവരൊക്കെയും രക്തത്തിന്നായി പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ സഹോദരനെ വല വെച്ചു പിടിപ്പാന് നോക്കുന്നു.

2. The godly man has perished from the earth, and there is none upright among men. They all lie in wait for blood; each hunts his brother with a net.

3. ജാഗ്രതയോടെ ദോഷം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരുടെ കൈ അതിലേക്കു നീണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; പ്രഭു പ്രതിഫലം ചോദിക്കുന്നു; ന്യായാധിപതി പ്രതിഫലം വാങ്ങി ന്യായം വിധിക്കുന്നു; മഹാന് തന്റെ മനസ്സിലെ ദുരാഗ്രഹം പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നു; ഇങ്ങനെ അവര് പിരിമുറുക്കുന്നു.

3. Both their hands are put forth and are upon what is evil to do it diligently; the prince and the judge ask for a bribe, and the great man utters his evil desire. Thus they twist between them [the course of justice].

4. അവരില് ഉത്തമന് മുള്പടര്പ്പുപോലെ; നേരുള്ളവന് മുള്വേലിയെക്കാള് വല്ലാത്തവന് തന്നേ; നിന്റെ ദര്ശകന്മാര് പറഞ്ഞ ദിവസം, നിന്റെ സന്ദര്ശനദിവസം തന്നേ, വരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോള് അവരുടെ പരിഭ്രമം വന്നുഭവിക്കും.

4. The best of them is like a brier; the most upright or the straightest is like a thorn hedge. The day of your watchmen, even of [God's] judgment and your punishment, has come; now shall be their perplexity and confusion.

5. കൂട്ടുകാരനെ വിശ്വസിക്കരുതു; സ്നേഹിതനില് ആശ്രയിക്കരുതു; നിന്റെ മാര്വ്വിടത്തു ശയിക്കുന്നവളോടു പറയാതവണ്ണം നിന്റെ വായുടെ കതകു കാത്തുകൊള്ക.

5. Trust not in a neighbor; put no confidence in a friend. Keep the doors of your mouth from her who lies in your bosom. [Luke 12:51-53.]

6. മകന് അപ്പനെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നു; മകള് അമ്മയോടും മരുമകള് അമ്മാവിയമ്മയോടും എതിര്ത്തുനിലക്കുന്നു; മനുഷ്യന്റെ ശത്രുക്കള് അവന്റെ വിട്ടുകാര് തന്നേ.

6. For the son dishonors the father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law--a man's enemies are the men (members) of his own house. [Matt. 10:21, 35, 36; Mark 13:12, 13.]

7. ഞാനോ യഹോവയിങ്കലേക്കു നോക്കും; എന്റെ രക്ഷയുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്നായി കാത്തിരിക്കും; എന്റെ ദൈവം എന്റെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന കേള്ക്കും.

7. But as for me, I will look to the Lord and confident in Him I will keep watch; I will wait with hope and expectancy for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.

8. എന്റെ ശത്രുവായവളേ, എന്നെച്ചൊല്ലി സന്തോഷിക്കരുതു; വീണു എങ്കിലും ഞാന് വീണ്ടും എഴുന്നേലക്കും; ഞാന് ഇരുട്ടത്തു ഇരുന്നാലും യഹോവ എനിക്കു വെളിച്ചമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

8. Rejoice not against me, O my enemy! When I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light to me.

9. യഹോവ എന്റെ വ്യവഹാരം നടത്തി എനിക്കു ന്യായം പാലിച്ചുതരുവോളം ഞാന് അവന്റെ ക്രോധം വഹിക്കും; ഞാന് അവനോടു പാപം ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ; അവന് എന്നെ വെളിച്ചത്തിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കയും ഞാന് അവന്റെ നീതി കണ്ടു സന്തോഷിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

9. I will bear the indignation of the Lord because I have sinned against Him, until He pleads my cause and executes judgment for me. He will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold His righteous deliverance. [Rom. 10:1-4; 11:23-27.]

10. എന്റെ ശത്രു അതു കാണും; നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ എവിടെ എന്നു എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞവളെ ലജ്ജ മൂടും; എന്റെ കണ്ണു അവളെ കണ്ടു രസിക്കും; അന്നു അവളെ വീഥികളിലെ ചെളിപോലെ ചവിട്ടിക്കളയും.

10. Then my enemy will see it, and shame will cover her who said to me, Where is the Lord your God? My eyes will see my desire upon her; now she will be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

11. നിന്റെ മതിലുകള് പണിവാനുള്ള നാള്വരുന്നുഅന്നാളില് നിന്റെ അതിര് അകന്നുപോകും.

11. In the day that your walls are to be built [a day for building], in that day shall the boundary [of Israel] be far extended and the decree [against her] be far removed. [Isa. 33:17; Amos 9:11.]

12. അന്നാളില് അശ്ശൂരില്നിന്നും മിസ്രയീംപട്ടണങ്ങളില്നിന്നും മിസ്രയീം മുതല് നദിവരെയും സമുദ്രംമുതല് സമുദ്രംവരെയും പര്വ്വതംമുതല് പര്വ്വതംവരെയും അവര് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരും.

12. In that day they will come to you from Assyria and from the cities of Matzor [Egypt] and from Egypt even to the river [Euphrates], from sea to sea and from mountain to mountain.

13. എന്നാല് ഭൂമി നിവാസികള്നിമിത്തവും അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികളുടെ ഫലം ഹേതുവായും ശൂന്യമായ്തീരും.

13. Yet shall the earth be desolate because of those who dwell in it, for the fruit of their doings.

14. കര്മ്മേലിന്റെ മദ്ധ്യേ കാട്ടില് തനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതും നിന്റെ അവകാശവുമായി നിന്റെ ജനമായ ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടത്തെ നിന്റെ കോല്കൊണ്ടു മേയിക്കേണമേ; പുരാതനകാലത്തു എന്നപോലെ അവര് ബാശാനിലും ഗിലെയാദിലും മേഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കട്ടെ.

14. Rule and feed Your people with Your rod and scepter, the flock of Your inheritance who dwell alone in a forest in the midst of Carmel [a garden land]; they shall feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

15. നീ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ട കാലത്തെന്നപോലെ ഞാന് അവനെ അത്ഭുതങ്ങള് കാണിക്കും.

15. As in the days of your coming forth from the land of Egypt, I will show them marvelous things.

16. ജാതികള് കണ്ടിട്ടു തങ്ങളുടെ സകലവീര്യത്തിലും ലജ്ജിക്കും; അവര് വായ്മേല് കൈ വെക്കയും ചെകിടരായ്തീരുകയും ചെയ്യും.

16. The nations shall see [God's deliverance] and be ashamed of all their might [which cannot be compared to His]. They shall lay their hands upon their mouths in consternation; their ears shall be deaf.

17. അവര് പാമ്പുപോലെ പൊടിനക്കും; നിലത്തെ ഇഴജാതിപോലെ തങ്ങളുടെ ഗുഹകളില്നിന്നു വിറെച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു വരും; അവര് പേടിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ അടുക്കല് വരികയും നിന്നെ ഭയപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യും.

17. They shall lick the dust like a serpent; like crawling things of the earth they shall come trembling out of their strongholds and close places. They shall turn and come with fear and dread to the Lord our God and shall be afraid and stand in awe because of You [O Lord]. [Jer. 33:9.]

18. അകൃത്യം ക്ഷമിക്കയും തന്റെ അവകാശത്തില് ശേഷിപ്പുള്ളവരോടു അതിക്രമം മോചിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്ന നിന്നോടു സമനായ ദൈവം ആരുള്ളു? അവന് എന്നേക്കും കോപം വെച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നില്ല; ദയയിലല്ലോ അവന്നു പ്രസാദമുള്ളതു.

18. Who is a God like You, Who forgives iniquity and passes over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He retains not His anger forever, because He delights in mercy and loving-kindness.

19. അവന് നമ്മോടു വീണ്ടും കരുണ കാണിക്കും നമ്മുടെ അകൃത്യങ്ങളെ ചവിട്ടിക്കളയും; അവരുടെ പാപങ്ങളെ ഒക്കെയും നീ സമുദ്രത്തിന്റെ ആഴത്തില് ഇട്ടുകളയും.

19. He will again have compassion on us; He will subdue and tread underfoot our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. [Ps. 103:12.]

20. പുരാതനകാലംമുതല് നീ ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ വിശ്വസ്തത നീ യാക്കോബിനോടും നിന്റെ ദയ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടും കാണിക്കും.
