1. രണ്ടു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു പെസഹയുടെയും പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പത്തിന്റെയും ഉത്സവം ആയിരുന്നു. അപ്പോള് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും അവനെ ഉപായത്താല് പിടിച്ചു കൊല്ലേണ്ടതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു അനേഷിച്ചു

1. Now after two days was the Passover and the unleavened bread. And the chief priests and the scholars sought how, having take him with trickery, they might kill him,

2. ജനത്തില് കലഹം ഉണ്ടാകാതിരിപ്പാന് ഉത്സവത്തില് അരുതു എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

2. but they said, Not during the feast, lest there will be an uproar of the people.

3. And while he was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat relaxing, a woman came having an alabaster cruse of ointment of pure spikenard, very valuable. And having broken the alabaster cruse, she poured it on his head.

4. അവിടെ ചിലര്തൈലത്തിന്റെ ഈ വെറും ചെലവു എന്തിന്നു?

4. And some were indignant within themselves, saying, Why has this waste of the ointment happened?

5. ഇതു മുന്നൂറ്റില് അധികം വെള്ളിക്കാശിന്നു വിറ്റു ദരിദ്രര്ക്കും കൊടുപ്പാന് കഴിയുമായിരുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നിങ്ങനെ ഉള്ളില് നീരസപ്പെട്ടു അവളെ ഭര്ത്സിച്ചു.

5. For this could have been sold for over three hundred denarii, and given to the poor. And they grumbled at her.

6. എന്നാല് യേശുഇവളെ വിടുവിന് ; അവളെ അസഹ്യപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതു എന്തു? അവള് എങ്കല് നല്ല പ്രവൃത്തിയല്ലോ ചെയ്തതു.

6. But Jesus said, Leave her be. Why do ye cause troubles for her? She performed a good work on me.

7. ദരിദ്രര് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എല്ലായ്പോഴും അടുക്കെ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; ഇച്ഛിക്കുമ്പോള് അവര്ക്കും നന്മചെയ്വാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു കഴിയും; ഞാനോ എല്ലായ്പോഴും നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കയില്ല.

7. For ye always have the poor with you, and whenever ye may desire ye can do them well, but ye do not always have me.

9. And truly I say to you, wherever this good-news may be preached in the whole world, also what she did will be told for a memorial of her.

10. പിന്നെ പന്തിരുവരില് ഒരുത്തനായി ഈസ്കര്യ്യോത്താവായ യൂദാ അവനെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാര്ക്കും കാണിച്ചുകൊടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു.

10. And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went away to the chief priests, so that he might betray him to them.

11. അവര് അതു കേട്ടു സന്തോഷിച്ചു അവന്നു പണം കൊടുക്കാം എന്നു വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്തു; അവനും അവനെ എങ്ങനെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുക്കാം എന്നു തക്കം അന്വേഷിച്ചുപോന്നു.

11. And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him silver. And he sought how he might betray him conveniently.

12. പെസഹകുഞ്ഞാടിനെ അറുക്കുന്നതായ പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പത്തിന്റെ ഒന്നാം നാളില് ശിഷ്യന്മാര് അവനോടുനീ പെസഹ കഴിപ്പാന് ഞങ്ങള് എവിടെ ഒരുക്കേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

12. And on the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the Passover, his disciples say to him, Where do thou want, after going, we should prepare that thou may eat the Passover?

13. And he sends forth two of his disciples, and says to them, Go into the city, and a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him.

14. And wherever he may enter, say ye to the house-ruler, The teacher says, Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?

15. And he himself will show you a large upper room spread out ready. Prepare ye for us there.

16. ശിഷ്യന്മാര് പുറപ്പെട്ടു നഗരത്തില് ചെന്നു അവന് തങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞതു പോലെ കണ്ടു പെസഹ ഒരുക്കി.

16. And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found just as he had said to them. And they prepared the Passover.

17. സന്ധ്യയായപ്പോള് അവന് പന്തിരുവരോടും കൂടെ വന്നു.

17. And having become evening he comes with the twelve.

18. അവര് ഇരുന്നു ഭക്ഷിക്കുമ്പോള് യേശുനിങ്ങളില് ഒരുവന് എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നവന് തന്നേ, എന്നെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുക്കും എന്നു ഞാന് സത്യമായിട്ടു നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. And as they were relaxing and eating, Jesus said, Truly I say to you, that one of you eating with me will betray me.

19. They began to be sorrowful, and to say to him one by one, Not I? and another, Not I?

20. And having answered, he said to them, It is one of the twelve dipping with me in the dish.

21. മനുഷ്യപുത്രന് പോകുന്നതു തന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ തന്നേ സത്യം; മനുഷ്യപുത്രനെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യന്നോ അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം; ആ മനുഷ്യന് ജനിക്കാതിരുന്നു എങ്കില് അവന്നു കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. The Son of man indeed goes as it is written about him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of man is betrayed! It was good for him if that man was not born.

22. അവര് ഭക്ഷിക്കുമ്പോള് അവന് അപ്പം എടുത്തു വാഴ്ത്തി നുറുക്കി അവര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തുവാങ്ങുവിന് ; ഇതു എന്റെ ശരീരം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. And as they were eating, Jesus having taken bread, having blessed, he broke in pieces, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat, this is my body.

23. പിന്നെ പാനപാത്രം എടുത്തു സ്തോത്രംചൊല്ലി അവര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തു; എല്ലാവരും അതില്നിന്നു കുടിച്ചു;

23. And after taking the cup, having expressed thanks, he gave to them, and they all drank from it.

24. ഇതു അനേകര്ക്കും വേണ്ടി ചൊരിയുന്നതായി നിയമത്തിന്നുള്ള എന്റെ രക്തം.

24. And he said to them, This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many.

25. Truly I say to you, that I will no more drink of the fruit of the grapevine, until that day when I drink it anew in the kingdom of God.

26. And when they sang a hymn, they went out onto the mount of Olives.

27. യേശു അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് എല്ലാവരും ഇടറിപ്പോകും; “ഞാന് ഇടയനെ വെട്ടും, ആടുകള് ചിതറിപ്പോകും” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

27. And Jesus says to them, All ye will be caused to stumble by me this night, because it is written, I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.

28. എന്നാല് ഞാന് ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റശേഷം നിങ്ങള്ക്കു മുമ്പെ ഗലീലെക്കു പോകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. But after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee.

29. But Peter said to him, Even if all will be caused to stumble, yet not I.

30. യേശു അവനോടുഇന്നു, ഈ രാത്രിയില് തന്നേ, കോഴി രണ്ടു വട്ടം ക്കുകും മുമ്പെ നീ മൂന്നു വട്ടം എന്നെ തള്ളിപ്പറയും എന്നു ഞാന് സത്യമായി നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

30. And Jesus says to him, Truly I say to thee, that thou today, in this night, before a cock sounds twice, will deny me thrice.

31. അവനോനീന്നോടുകൂടെ മരിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നാലും ഞാന് നിന്നെ തള്ളിപ്പറകയില്ല എന്നു അധികമായി പറഞ്ഞു; അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ എല്ലാവരും പറഞ്ഞു.

31. But he spoke more extreme, If I must die with thee, I will, no, not deny thee. And they all spoke the same way also.

32. അവര് ഗെത്ത്ശേമന എന്നു പേരുള്ള തോട്ടത്തില് വന്നാറെ അവന് ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടുഞാന് പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചുതീരുവോളം ഇവിടെ ഇരിപ്പിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

32. And they come to a place the name of which was Gethsemane. And he says to his disciples, Sit ye here until I pray.

33. പിന്നെ അവന് പത്രൊസിനെയും യാക്കോബിനെയും യോഹന്നാനെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു ഭ്രമിപ്പാനും വ്യകുലപ്പെടുവാനും തുടങ്ങി

33. And he takes Peter and James and John with him, and began to be greatly disturbed, and very distressed.

34. എന്റെ ഉള്ളം മരണവേദനപോലെ അതിദുഃഖിതമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇവിടെ പാര്ത്തു ഉണര്ന്നിരിപ്പിന് എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

34. And he says to them, My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death. Remain ye here, and watch.

35. And having gone forward a little, he fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.

36. അബ്ബാ, പിതാവേ, നിനക്കു എല്ലാം കഴിയും; ഈ പാനപാത്രം എങ്കല് നിന്നു നീക്കേണമേ; എങ്കിലും ഞാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നതല്ല നീ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നതത്രേ ആകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

36. And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee. Remove this cup from me, but not what I want, but what thou want.

37. പിന്നെ അവന് വന്നു അവര് ഉറങ്ങുന്നതു കണ്ടു പത്രൊസിനോടുശിമോനേ, നീ ഉറങ്ങുന്നുവേ? ഒരു നാഴിക ഉണര്ന്നിരിപ്പാന് നിനക്കു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ലയോ?

37. And he comes and finds them sleeping. And he says to Peter, Simon, Do thou sleep? Could thou not watch one hour?

38. പരീക്ഷയില് അകപ്പെടായ്വാന് ഉണര്ന്നിരുന്നു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിപ്പിന് ; ആത്മാവു ഒരുക്കമുള്ളതു, ജഡമോ ബലഹീനമത്രേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

38. Watch ye and pray that ye may not enter into temptation. Truly, the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

39. അവന് പിന്നെയും പോയി ആ വചനം തന്നെ ചൊല്ലി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു.

39. And again having departed, he prayed, having said the same statement.

40. മടങ്ങിവന്നാറെ അവരുടെ കണ്ണുകള്ക്കു ഭാരമേറിയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് ഉറങ്ങുന്നതു കണ്ടു; അവര് അവനോടു എന്തു ഉത്തരം പറയേണം എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞില്ല;

40. And having returned, he found them again sleeping, for their eyes were weighed down, and they knew not what they should reply to him.

41. അവന് മൂന്നാമതു വന്നു അവരോടുഇനി ഉറങ്ങി ആശ്വസിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് ; മതി, നാഴിക വന്നു; ഇതാ, മനുഷ്യ പുത്രന് പാപികളുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.

41. And he comes the third time, and says to them, Sleep the remaining, and take your rest...It is enough. The hour has come. Behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

42. എഴുന്നേല്പിന് ; നാം പോക; ഇതാ, എന്നെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുക്കുന്നവന് അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

42. Arise, let us be going. Behold, he who betrays me has come near.

43. ഉടനെ, അവന് സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ, പന്തിരുവരില് ഒരുത്തനായ യൂദയും അവനോടുകൂടെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാര്, ശാസ്ത്രിമാര്, മൂപ്പന്മാര് എന്നവര് അയച്ച ഒരു പുരുഷാരവും വാളും വടിയുമായി വന്നു.

43. And straightaway, while he still spoke, Judas, being one of the twelve, comes, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs from the chief priests, and the scholars, and the elders.

44. അവനെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുക്കുന്നവന് ഞാന് ഏവനെ ചുംബിക്കുമോ അവന് തന്നേ ആകുന്നു; അവനെ പിടിച്ചു സൂക്ഷമതയോടെ കൊണ്ടു പോകുവിന് എന്നു അവര്ക്കും ഒരു അടയാളം പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുത്തിരുന്നു.

44. Now he who betrayed him had given them a sign, saying, Whomever I may kiss is he. Seize him, and lead away securely.

45. അവന് വന്നു ഉടനെ അടുത്തു ചെന്നുറബ്ബീ, എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ ചുംബിച്ചു.

45. And when he came, straightaway having approached him, he says, Rabbi, Rabbi, and kissed him much.

46. അവര് അവന്റെമേല് കൈവച്ചു അവനെ പിടിച്ചു.

46. And they threw their hands on him, and seized him.

47. അരികെ നിലക്കുന്നവരില് ഒരുവന് വാള് ഊരി മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ ദാസനെ വെട്ടി കാതു അറുത്തു.

47. And a certain one of those who stood by, having drawn his sword, struck the bondman of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

48. യേശു അവരോടുഒരു കള്ളന്റെ നേരെ എന്നപോലെ നിങ്ങള് എന്നെ പിടിപ്പാന് വാളും വടിയുമായി പുറപ്പെട്ടു വന്നുവോ?

48. And having answered, Jesus said to them, Have ye come out as against a robber with swords and clubs to arrest me?

49. ഞാന് ദിവസേന ദൈവലായലയത്തില് ഉപദേശിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് എന്നെ പിടിച്ചില്ല; എങ്കിലും തിരുവെഴുതത്തുകള്ക്കു നിവൃത്തി വരേണ്ടിതിന്നു ഇങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

49. I was daily near you, teaching in the temple, and ye did not seize me--but that the scriptures might be fulfilled.

50. ശിഷ്യന്മാര് എല്ലാവരും അവനെ വിട്ടു ഔടിപ്പോയി.

50. And having forsook him, they all fled.

51. ഒരു ബാല്യക്കാരന് വെറും ശരീരത്തിന്മേല് പുതപ്പു പുതെച്ചും കൊണ്ടു അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ചു; അവര് അവനെ പിടിച്ചു.

51. And a certain one young man followed with him, having been wrapped naked in a linen cloth. And the young men seized him,

52. അവനോ പുതപ്പു വിട്ടു നഗ്നനായി ഔടിപ്പോയി.

52. but having left behind the linen cloth, he fled from them naked.

53. അവര് യേശുവിനെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുപോയി. അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരും ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും എല്ലാം വന്നു കൂടിയിരുന്നു.

53. And they led Jesus away to the high priest. And all the chief priests and the elders and the scholars assemble with him.

54. പത്രൊസ് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ അരമനെക്കകത്തോളവും അവനെ ദൂരവേ അനുഗമിച്ചു, ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു ചേര്ന്നു തീ കാഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

54. And Peter followed him from a distance, as far as inside the courtyard of the high priest, and was sitting with the subordinates, and warming himself near the light.

55. മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ന്യായാധിപസംഘം ഒക്കെയും യേശുവിനെ കൊല്ലേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്റെ നേരെ സാക്ഷ്യം അന്വേഷിച്ചു കണ്ടില്ലതാനും.

55. Now the chief priests and the whole council sought testimony against Jesus in order to put him to death, and did not find it.

56. അനേകര് അവന്റെ നേരെ കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞിട്ടും സ്സാക്ഷ്യം ഒത്തുവന്നില്ല.

56. For many testified falsely against him, and their testimonies were not consistent.

57. ചിലര് എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവന്റെ നേരെ

57. And some men having stood up, testified falsely against him, saying,

58. ഞാന് കൈപ്പണിയായ ഈ മന്ദിരം പൊളിച്ചു മൂന്നു ദിവസംകൊണ്ടു കൈപ്പണിയല്ലാത്ത മറ്റൊന്നു പണിയും എന്നു ഇവന് പറഞ്ഞതു ഞങ്ങള് കേട്ടു എന്നു കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞു.

58. We heard him saying, I will destroy this temple made with hands, and by three days I will build another not made with hands.

59. എന്നിട്ടും അവരുടെ സാക്ഷ്യം ഒത്തുവന്നില്ല.

59. And not even this way was their testimony consistent.

60. മഹാപുരോഹിതന് നടുവില് നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു യേശുവിനോടുനീ ഒന്നും ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നില്ലയോ? ഇവര് നിന്റെ നേരെ സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

60. And the high priest having stood up in the midst, he demanded Jesus, saying, Thou answer nothing? What is it these men testify against thee?

61. അവനോ മിണ്ടാതെയും ഉത്തരം പറയാതെയും ഇരുന്നു. മഹാപുരോഹിതന് പിന്നെയും അവനോടുനീ വന്ദ്യനായവന്റെ പുത്രനായ ക്രിസ്തുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

61. But he remained silent, and answered nothing. Again the high priest demanded him, and says to him, Are thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

64. ഇനി സാക്ഷികളെകൊണ്ടു നമുക്കു എന്തു ആവശ്യം? ദൈവദൂഷണം നിങ്ങള് കേട്ടുവല്ലോ; നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എന്തു തോന്നുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അവന് മരണയോഗ്യന് എന്നു എല്ലാവരും വിധിച്ചു.

64. Ye have heard the blasphemy. What does it seem to you? And they all condemned him to be deserving of death.

65. ചിലര് അവനെ തുപ്പുകയും അവന്റെ മുഖം മൂടി അവനെ മുഷ്ടി ചുരുട്ടി കുത്തുകയും പ്രവചിക്ക എന്നു അവനോടു പറകയും ചെയ്തു തുടങ്ങി; ചേവകര് അവനെ അടിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു കയ്യേറ്റു.

65. And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to strike him with a fist, and to say to him, Prophesy. And the subordinates were throwing him with slaps.

66. പത്രൊസ് താഴെ നടുമുറ്റത്തു ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരത്തികളില് ഒരുത്തി വന്നു,

66. And as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest comes.

67. പത്രൊസ് തീ കായുന്നതു കണ്ടു അവനെ നോക്കിനീയും ആ നസറായനായ യേശുവിനോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

67. And having seen Peter warming himself, having looked at him, she says, Thou also were with Jesus of Nazareth.

68. നീ പറയുന്നതു തിരിയുന്നില്ല, ബോദ്ധ്യമാകുന്നതുമില്ല എന്നിങ്ങനെ അവന് തള്ളിപ്പറഞ്ഞു; പടിപ്പുരയിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടപ്പോള് കോഴി ക്കുകി.

68. But he denied, saying, I know not, nor understand what thou say. And he went outside onto the porch, and a cock sounded.

69. ആ ബാല്യക്കാരത്തി അവനെ പിന്നെയും കണ്ടു സമീപത്തു നിലക്കുന്നവരോടുഇവന് ആ കൂട്ടരില് ഉള്ളവന് തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു തുടങ്ങി. അവന് പിന്നെയും തള്ളിപ്പറഞ്ഞു.

69. And the servant girl having seen him, she began again to say to those who stood by, This man is from them.

70. കുറയനേരം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അരികെ നിന്നവര് പത്രൊസിനോടുനീ ആ കൂട്ടരില് ഉള്ളവന് സത്യം; ഗലീലക്കാരനല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

70. But he again denied it. And after a little while again those who stood by said to Peter, Surely thou are from them, for thou are a Galilean, and thy accent is similar.

71. നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്ന മനുഷ്യനെ ഞാന് അറിയുന്നില്ല എന്നു അവന് പ്രാകുവാനും ആണയിടുവാനും തുടങ്ങി.

71. But he began to curse and to swear, I do not know this man of whom ye speak.

72. ഉടനെ കോഴി രണ്ടാമതും ക്കുകി; കോഴി രണ്ടുവട്ടം ക്കുകുംമുമ്പെ നീ മൂന്നു വട്ടം എന്നെ തള്ളിപ്പറയും എന്നു യേശു തന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു പത്രൊസ് ഔര്ത്തു അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു വിചാരിച്ചു കരഞ്ഞു.

72. And the second time a cock sounded. And Peter remembered the saying that Jesus said to him, Before a cock sounds twice, thou will deny me thrice. And having broke down, he wept.
