1. യേശു യോഹന്നാനെക്കാള് അധികം ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ ചേര്ത്തു സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പരീശന്മാര് കേട്ടു എന്നു കര്ത്താവു അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് —

1. When Yeshua learned that the [P'rushim] had heard he was making and immersing more [talmidim] than Yochanan

2. ശിഷ്യന്മാര് അല്ലാതെ, യേശു തന്നേ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചില്ലതാനും —

2. (although it was not Yeshua himself who immersed but his [talmidim]),

3. അവന് യെഹൂദ്യദേശം വിട്ടു പിന്നെയും ഗലീലെക്കു യാത്രയായി. അവന് ശമര്യയില്കൂടി കടന്നുപോകേണ്ടിവന്നു.

3. Yeshua left Y'hudah and set out again for the Galil.

4. അങ്ങനെ അവന് സുഖാര് എന്നൊരു ശമര്യപട്ടണത്തില് യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ പുത്രനായയോസേഫിന്നു കൊടുത്ത നിലത്തിന്നരികെ എത്തി. അവിടെ യാക്കോബിന്റെ ഉറവുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. യേശു വഴി നടന്നു ക്ഷീണിച്ചിട്ടു ഉറവിന്നരികെ ഇരുന്നു; അപ്പോള് ഏകദേശം ആറാം മണിനേരം ആയിരുന്നു.

4. This meant that he had to pass through Shomron.

5. ഒരു ശമര്യസ്ത്രീ വെള്ളം കോരുവാന് വന്നു; യേശു അവളോടുഎനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാന് തരുമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

5. He came to a town in Shomron called Sh'khem, near the field Ya'akov had given to his son Yosef.

6. അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര് ഭക്ഷണസാധനങ്ങളെ കൊള്ളുവാന് പട്ടണത്തില് പോയിരുന്നു.

6. Ya'akov's Well was there; so Yeshua, exhausted from his travel, sat down by the well; it was about noon.

7. ശമര്യസ്ത്രീ അവനോടുനീ യെഹൂദന് ആയിരിക്കെ ശമര്യക്കാരത്തിയായ എന്നോടു കുടിപ്പാന് ചോദിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും ശമര്യര്ക്കും തമ്മില് സമ്പര്ക്കമില്ല —

7. A woman from Shomron came to draw some water; and Yeshua said to her, 'Give me a drink of water.'

8. അതിന്നു യേശുനീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാനവും നിന്നോടു കുടിപ്പാന് ചോദിക്കുന്നവന് ആരെന്നും അറിഞ്ഞു എങ്കില് നീ അവനോടു ചോദിക്കയും അവന് ജീവനുള്ള വെള്ളം നിനക്കു തരികയും ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

8. (His [talmidim] had gone into town to buy food.)

9. സ്ത്രീ അവനോടുയജമാനനേ, നിനക്കു കോരുവാന് പാത്രം ഇല്ലല്ലോ; കിണറു ആഴമുള്ളതാകുന്നു; പിന്നെ ജീവനുള്ള വെള്ളം നിനക്കു എവിടെ നിന്നു?

9. The woman from Shomron said to him, 'How is it that you, a Jew, ask for water from me, a woman of Shomron?' (For Jews don't associate with people from Shomron.)

10. നമ്മുടെ പിതാവായ യാക്കോബിനെക്കാള് നീ വലിയവനോ? അവന് ആകുന്നു ഈ കിണറു ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു തന്നതു; അവനും അവന്റെ മക്കളും മൃഗങ്ങളും ഇതിലെ വെള്ളം കുടിച്ചു പോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. Yeshua answered her, 'If you knew God's gift, that is, who it is saying to you, 'Give me a drink of water,' then you would have asked him; and he would have given you living water.'

11. She said to him, 'Sir, you don't have a bucket, and the well is deep; so where do you get this 'living water'?

12. ഞാന് കൊടുക്കുന്ന വെള്ളം കുടിക്കുന്നവന്നോ ഒരുനാളും ദാഹിക്കയില്ല; ഞാന് കൊടുക്കുന്ന വെള്ളം അവനില് നിത്യജീവങ്കലേക്കു പൊങ്ങിവരുന്ന നീരുറവായിത്തീരും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

12. You aren't greater than our father Ya'akov, are you? He gave us this well and drank from it, and so did his sons and his cattle.'

13. സ്ത്രീ അവനാടുയജമാനനേ, എനിക്കു ദാഹിക്കാതെയും ഞാന് കോരുവാന് ഇവിടത്തോളം വരാതെയുമിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആ വെള്ളം എനിക്കു തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. Yeshua answered, 'Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again,

14. യേശു അവളോടുപോയി ഭര്ത്താവിനെ വിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. but whoever drinks the water I will give him will never be thirsty again! On the contrary, the water I give him will become a spring of water inside him, welling up into eternal life!'

15. എനിക്കു ഭര്ത്താവു ഇല്ല എന്നുസ്ത്രീ അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഎനിക്കു ഭര്ത്താവു ഇല്ല എന്നു നീ പറഞ്ഞതു ശരി.

15. 'Sir, give me this water,' the woman said to him, 'so that I won't have to be thirsty and keep coming here to draw water.'

16. അഞ്ചു ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാര് നിനക്കു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോള് ഉള്ളവനോ ഭര്ത്താവല്ല; നീ പറഞ്ഞതു സത്യം തന്നേ എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. He said to her, 'Go, call your husband, and come back.'

17. സ്ത്രീ അവനോടുയജമാനനേ, നീ പ്രവാചകന് എന്നു ഞാന് കാണുന്നു.

17. She answered, 'I don't have a husband.' Yeshua said to her, 'You're right, you don't have a husband!

18. ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് ഈ മലയില് നമസ്കരിച്ചുവന്നു; നമസ്കരിക്കേണ്ടുന്ന സ്ഥലം യെരൂശലേമില് ആകുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. You've had five husbands in the past, and you're not married to the man you're living with now! You've spoken the truth!'

19. യേശു അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞതുസ്ത്രീയേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു വിശ്വസിക്ക; നിങ്ങള് പിതാവിനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നതു ഈ മലയിലും അല്ല യെരൂശലേമിലും അല്ല എന്നുള്ള നാഴിക വരുന്നു.

19. 'Sir, I can see that you are a prophet,' the woman replied.

20. നിങ്ങള് അറിയാത്തതിനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നു. ഞങ്ങളോ അറിയുന്നതിനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നു; രക്ഷ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഇടയില് നിന്നല്ലോ വരുന്നതു.

20. 'Our fathers worshipped on this mountain, but you people say that the place where one has to worship is in Yerushalayim.'

21. സത്യനമസ്കാരികള് പിതാവിനെ ആത്മാവിലും സത്യത്തിലും നമസ്കരിക്കുന്ന നാഴിക വരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോള് വന്നുമിരിക്കുന്നു. തന്നേ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നവര് ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവര് ആയിരിക്കേണം എന്നു പിതാവു ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു.

21. Yeshua said, 'Lady, believe me, the time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Yerushalayim.

22. ദൈവം ആത്മാവു ആകുന്നു; അവനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നവര് ആത്മാവിലും സത്യത്തിലും നമസ്കരിക്കേണം.

22. You people don't know what you are worshipping; we worship what we do know, because salvation comes from the Jews.

23. സ്ത്രീ അവനോടുമശീഹ — എന്നുവെച്ചാല് ക്രിസ്തു — വരുന്നു എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു; അവന് വരുമ്പോള് സകലവും അറിയിച്ചുതരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

23. But the time is coming- indeed, it's here now- when the true worshippers will worship the Father spiritually and truly, for these are the kind of people the Father wants worshipping him.

24. യേശു അവളോടുനിന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ഞാന് തന്നേ മശീഹ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. God is spirit; and worshippers must worship him spiritually and truly.'

25. ഇതിന്നിടയില് അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര് വന്നു അവന് സ്ത്രീയോടു സംസാരിക്കയാല് ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു എങ്കിലുംനീ എന്തു ചോദിക്കുന്നു? അവളോടു എന്തു സംസാരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ആരും ചോദിച്ചില്ല.

25. The woman replied, 'I know that [Mashiach] is coming' (that is, 'the one who has been anointed'). 'When he comes, he will tell us everything.'

26. അനന്തരം സ്ത്രീ പാത്രം വെച്ചിട്ടു പട്ടണത്തില് ചെന്നു ജനങ്ങളോടു

26. Yeshua said to her, 'I, the person speaking to you, am he.'

27. ഞാന് ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ വന്നുകാണ്മിന് ; അവന് പക്ഷേ ക്രിസ്തു ആയിരിക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. Just then, his [talmidim] arrived. They were amazed that he was talking with a woman; but none of them said, 'What do you want?' or, 'Why are you talking with her?'

28. അവര് പട്ടണത്തില് നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു.

28. So the woman left her water-jar, went back to the town and said to the people there,

29. അതിന്നിടയില് ശിഷ്യന്മാര് അവനോടുറബ്ബീ, ഭക്ഷിച്ചാലും എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

29. 'Come, see a man who told me everything I've ever done. Could it be that this is the Messiah?'

30. അതിന്നു അവന് നിങ്ങള് അറിയാത്ത ആഹാരം ഭക്ഷിപ്പാന് എനിക്കു ഉണ്ടു എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

30. They left the town and began coming toward him.

31. ആകയാല് വല്ലവനും അവന്നു ഭക്ഷിപ്പാന് കൊണ്ടുവന്നുവോ എന്നു ശിഷ്യന്മാര് തമ്മില് പറഞ്ഞു.

31. Meanwhile, the [talmidim] were urging Yeshua, 'Rabbi, eat something.'

32. യേശു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്നെ അയച്ചവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം ചെയ്തു അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി തികെക്കുന്നതു തന്നെ എന്റെ ആഹാരം.

32. But he answered, 'I have food to eat that you don't know about.'

33. ഇനി നാലു മാസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു കൊയ്ത്തു വരുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നില്ലയോ? നിങ്ങള് തല പൊക്കി നോക്കിയാല് നിലങ്ങള് ഇപ്പോള് തന്നേ കൊയ്ത്തിന്നു വെളുത്തിരിക്കുന്നതു കാണും എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

33. At this, the [talmidim] asked one another, 'Could someone have brought him food?'

34. വിതെക്കുന്നവനും കൊയ്യുന്നവനം ഒരുമിച്ചു സന്തോഷിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം കൊയ്യുന്നവന് കൂലി വാങ്ങി നിത്യജീവങ്കലേക്കു വിളവു കൂട്ടിവെക്കുന്നു.

34. Yeshua said to them, 'My food is to do what the one who sent me wants and to bring his work to completion.

35. വിതെക്കുന്നതു ഒരുത്തന് , കൊയ്യുന്നതു മറ്റൊരുത്തന് എന്നുള്ള പഴഞ്ചൊല് ഇതില് ഒത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

35. Don't you have a saying, 'Four more months and then the harvest'? Well, what I say to you is: open your eyes and look at the fields! They're already ripe for harvest!

36. നിങ്ങള് അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്തതു കൊയ്വാന് ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; മറ്റുള്ളവര് അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചു; അവരുടെ അദ്ധ്വാനഫലത്തിലേക്കു നിങ്ങള് പ്രവേശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

36. The one who reaps receives his wages and gathers fruit for eternal life, so that the reaper and the sower may be glad together-

37. ഞാന് ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും അവന് എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു സ്ത്രീ സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു നിമിത്തം ആ പട്ടണത്തിലെ പല ശമര്യരും അവനില് വിശ്വസിച്ചു.

37. for in this matter, the proverb, 'One sows and another reaps,' holds true.

38. അങ്ങനെ ശമര്യര് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു തങ്ങളോടു കൂടെ പാര്ക്കേണം എന്നു അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; അവന് രണ്ടുനാള് അവിടെ പാര്ത്തു.

38. I sent you to reap what you haven't worked for. Others have done the hard labor, and you have benefited from their work.'

39. ഏറ്റവും അധികംപേര് അവന്റെ വചനം കേട്ടു വിശ്വസിച്ചു

39. Many people from that town in Shomron put their trust in him because of the woman's testimony, 'He told me all the things I did.'

40. ഇനി നിന്റെ വാക്കുകൊണ്ടല്ല ഞങ്ങള് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നതു; ഞങ്ങള് തന്നേ കേള്ക്കയും അവന് സാക്ഷാല് ലോകരക്ഷിതാവു എന്നു അറികയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സ്ത്രീയോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

40. So when these people from Shomron came to him, they asked him to stay with them. He stayed two days,

41. രണ്ടു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവന് അവിടം വിട്ടു ഗലീലെക്കു പോയി.

41. and many more came to trust because of what he said.

42. പ്രവാചകന്നു തന്റെ പിതൃദേശത്തു ബഹുമാനം ഇല്ല എന്നു യേശു തന്നേ സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

42. They said to the woman, 'We no longer trust because of what you said, because we have heard for ourselves. We know indeed that this man really is the Savior of the world.'

43. അവന് ഗലീലയില് എത്തിയപ്പോള് ഗലീലക്കാര് തങ്ങളും പെരുന്നാളിന്നു പോയി അവന് യെരൂശലേമില്വെച്ചു പെരുനാളില് ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും കണ്ടതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ അംഗീകരിച്ചു.

43. After the two days, he went on from there toward the Galil.

44. അവന് പിന്നെയും താന് വെള്ളം വീഞ്ഞാക്കിയ ഗലീലയിലെ കാനാവില് വന്നു. അന്നു മകന് രോഗിയായിരുന്നോരു രാജഭൃത്യന് കഫര്ന്നഹൂമില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

44. Now Yeshua himself said, 'A prophet is not respected in his own country.'

45. യേശു യെഹൂദ്യദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഗലീലയില് വന്നു എന്നു അവന് കേട്ടു അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു, തന്റെ മകന് മരിപ്പാറായിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു അവന് വന്നു അവനെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കേണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

45. But when he arrived in the Galil, the people there welcomed him, because they had seen all he had done at the festival in Yerushalayim; since they had been there too.

46. യേശു അവനോടുനിങ്ങള് അടയാളങ്ങളും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും കണ്ടിട്ടല്ലാതെ വിശ്വസിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

46. He went again to Kanah in the Galil, where he had turned the water into wine. An officer in the royal service was there; his son was ill in K'far-Nachum.

47. രാജഭൃത്യന് അവനോടുകര്ത്താവേ, പൈതല് മരിക്കുംമുമ്പേ വരേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

47. This man, on hearing that Yeshua had come from Y'hudah to the Galil, went and asked him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.

48. യേശു അവനോടുപൊയ്ക്കൊള്ക; നിന്റെ മകന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യേശു പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു വിശ്വസിച്ചു ആ മനുഷ്യന് പോയി.

48. Yeshua answered, 'Unless you people see signs and miracles, you simply will not trust!'

49. അവന് പോകയില് അവന്റെ ദാസന്മാര് അവനെ എതിരേറ്റു മകന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

49. The officer said to him, 'Sir, come down before my child dies.'

50. അവന്നു ഭേദം വന്ന നാഴിക അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവര് അവനോടുഇന്നലെ ഏഴുമണിക്കു പനി വിട്ടുമാറി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

50. Yeshua replied, 'You may go, your son is alive.' The man believed what Yeshua said and left.

51. ആകയാല് നിന്റെ മകന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞ നാഴികയില് തന്നേ എന്നു അപ്പന് ഗ്രഹിച്ചു താനും കുടുംബം ഒക്കെയും വിശ്വസിച്ചു.

51. As he was going down, his servants met him with the news that his son was alive

52. യേശു യെഹൂദ്യയില് നിന്നു ഗലീലയില് വന്നപ്പോള് ഇതു രണ്ടാമത്തെ അടയാളമായിട്ടു ചെയ്തു.

52. So he asked them at what time he had gotten better; and they said, 'The fever left him yesterday at one o'clock in the afternoon.'
