1. നുകത്തിന് കീഴില് ദാസന്മാരായിരിക്കുന്നവര് ഒക്കെയും ദൈവനാമവും ഉപദേശവും ദുഷിക്കപ്പെടാതിരിപ്പാന് തങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്മാരെ സകലമാനത്തിന്നും യോഗ്യന്മാര് എന്നു എണ്ണേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

1. Those who are under the yoke as slaves must regard their own masters as deserving of full respect. This will prevent the name of God and Christian teaching from being discredited.

2. വിശ്വാസികളായ യജമാനന്മാരുള്ളവര് അവരെ സഹോദരന്മാര് എന്നുവെച്ചു അലക്ഷ്യമാക്കരുതു; തങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ടുള്ള ഉപകാരം അനുഭവിക്കുന്നവര് വിശ്വാസികളും പ്രിയരും ആകകൊണ്ടു അവരെ വിശേഷാല് സേവിക്കയത്രേ വേണ്ടതു; ഇതു നീ ഉപദേശിക്കയും പ്രബോധിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്ക.

2. But those who have believing masters must not show them less respect because they are brothers. Instead they are to serve all the more, because those who benefit from their service are believers and dearly loved. Teach them and exhort them about these things.

3. If someone spreads false teachings and does not agree with sound words (that is, those of our Lord Jesus Christ) and with the teaching that accords with godliness,

4. ദൂഷണം, ദുസ്സംശയം, ദുര്ബ്ബുദ്ധികളും സത്യ ത്യാഗികളുമായ മനുഷ്യരുടെ വ്യര്ത്ഥ്യവാദം എന്നിവ ഉളവാകുന്നു; അവര് ദൈവഭക്തി ആദായസൂത്രം എന്നു വിചാരിക്കുന്നു.

4. he is conceited and understands nothing, but has an unhealthy interest in controversies and verbal disputes. This gives rise to envy, dissension, slanders, evil suspicions,

5. അലംഭാവത്തോടുകൂടിയ ദൈവഭക്തി വലുതായ ആദയം ആകുന്നുതാനും.

5. and constant bickering by people corrupted in their minds and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a way of making a profit.

6. ഇഹലോകത്തിലേക്കു നാം ഒന്നും കൊണ്ടുവന്നിട്ടില്ല; ഇവിടെനിന്നു യാതൊന്നും കൊണ്ടുപോകുവാന് കഴിയുന്നതുമല്ല.

6. Now godliness combined with contentment brings great profit.

7. ഉണ്മാനും ഉടുപ്പാനും ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് മതി എന്നു നാം വിചാരിക്ക.

7. For we have brought nothing into this world and so we cannot take a single thing out either.

8. ധനികന്മാരാകുവാന് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവര് പരീക്ഷയിലും കണിയിലും കടുങ്ങുകയും മനുഷ്യര് സംഹാരനാശങ്ങളില് മുങ്ങിപോകുവാന് ഇടവരുന്ന മൌഢ്യവും ദോഷകരവുമായ പല മോഹങ്ങള്ക്കും ഇരയായിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

9. Those who long to be rich, however, stumble into temptation and a trap and many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

11. But you, as a person dedicated to God, keep away from all that. Instead pursue righteousness, godliness, faithfulness, love, endurance, and gentleness.

12. നീ നിഷ്കളങ്കനും നിരപവാദ്യനുമായി ഈ കല്പന നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുവിന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതവരെ പ്രമാണിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം

12. Compete well for the faith and lay hold of that eternal life you were called for and made your good confession for in the presence of many witnesses.

13. എന്നിങ്ങനെ സകലത്തെയും ജീവിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തെയും പൊന്തിയൊസ് പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നല്ല സ്വീകാരം കഴിച്ച ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിനെയും സാക്ഷിവെച്ചു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു ആജ്ഞാപിക്കുന്നു.

13. I charge you before God who gives life to all things and Christ Jesus who made his good confession before Pontius Pilate,

14. to obey this command without fault or failure until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ
