1. ക്രിസ്തു ജഡത്തില് കഷ്ടമനുഭവിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളും ആ ഭാവം തന്നേ ആയുധമായി ധരിപ്പിന് .

1. Christ, then, having suffered for us in the flesh, ye also with the same mind arm yourselves, because he who did suffer in the flesh hath done with sin,

2. ജഡത്തില് കഷ്ടമനുഭവിച്ചവന് ജഡത്തില് ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുംകാലം ഇനി മനുഷ്യരുടെ മോഹങ്ങള്ക്കല്ല, ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടത്തിന്നത്രേ ജീവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു പാപം വിട്ടൊഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

2. no more in the desires of men, but in the will of God, to live the rest of the time in the flesh;

3. കാമാര്ത്തികളിലും മോഹങ്ങളിലും വീഞ്ഞുകുടിയിലും വെറിക്കൂത്തുകളിലും മദ്യപാനത്തിലും ധര്മ്മവിരുദ്ധമായ വിഗ്രഹാരാധനയിലും നടന്നു ജാതികളുടെ ഇഷ്ടം പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു കാലം പോക്കിയതു മതി.

3. for sufficient to us [is] the past time of life the will of the nations to have wrought, having walked in lasciviousnesses, desires, excesses of wines, revellings, drinking-bouts, and unlawful idolatries,

4. ദുര്ന്നടപ്പിന്റെ അതേ കവിച്ചലില് നിങ്ങള് അവരോടു ചേര്ന്നു നടക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നതു അപൂര്വ്വം എന്നുവെച്ചു അവര് ദുഷിക്കുന്നു.

4. in which they think it strange -- your not running with them to the same excess of dissoluteness, speaking evil,

5. ജീവികളെയും മരിച്ചവരെയും ന്യായം വിധിപ്പാന് ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നവന്നു അവര് കണകൂ ബോധിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടിവരും.

5. who shall give an account to Him who is ready to judge living and dead,

6. ഇതിന്നായിട്ടല്ലോ മരിച്ചവരോടും സുവിശേഷം അറിയിച്ചതു. അവര് ജഡസംബന്ധമായി മനുഷ്യരെപ്പോലെ വിധിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ആത്മാവുസംബന്ധമായി ദൈവത്തിന്നൊത്തവണ്ണം ജീവിക്കയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

6. for for this also to dead men was good news proclaimed, that they may be judged, indeed, according to men in the flesh, and may live according to God in the spirit.

7. എന്നാല് എല്ലാറ്റിന്റെയും അവസാനം സമീപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ആകയാല് പ്രാര്ത്ഥനെക്കു സുബോധമുള്ളവരും നിര്മ്മദരുമായിരിപ്പിന് .

7. And of all things the end hath come nigh; be sober-minded, then, and watch unto the prayers,

8. സകലത്തിന്നും മുമ്പെ തമ്മില് ഉറ്റ സ്നേഹം ഉള്ളവരായിരിപ്പിന് . സ്നേഹം പാപങ്ങളുടെ ബഹുത്വത്തെ മറെക്കുന്നു.

10. each, according as he received a gift, to one another ministering it, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God;

11. ഒരുത്തന് പ്രസംഗിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നു എന്നപോലെയും ഒരുത്തന് ശുശ്രൂഷിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് ദൈവം നലകുന്ന പ്രാപ്തിക്കു ഒത്തവണ്ണവും ആകട്ടെ. എല്ലാറ്റിലും ദൈവം യേശുക്രിസ്തുമൂലം മഹത്വപ്പെടുവാന് ഇടവരട്ടെ. മഹത്വവും ബലവും എന്നെന്നേക്കും അവന്നുള്ളതു. ആമേന് .

11. if any one doth speak -- 'as oracles of God;' if any one doth minister -- 'as of the ability which God doth supply;' that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom is the glory and the power -- to the ages of the ages. Amen.

12. പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു പരീക്ഷക്കായി സംഭവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന അഗ്നിശോധനയിങ്കല് ഒരു അപൂര്വ്വകാര്യ്യം നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വന്നുകൂടി എന്നു വച്ചു അതിശയിച്ചുപോകരുതു.

12. Beloved, think it not strange at the fiery suffering among you that is coming to try you, as if a strange thing were happening to you,

13. ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ കഷ്ടങ്ങള്ക്കു പങ്കുള്ളവരാകുന്തോറും സന്തോഷിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് . അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങള് അവന്റെ തേജസ്സിന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതയില് ഉല്ലസിച്ചാനന്ദിപ്പാന് ഇടവരും.

13. but, according as ye have fellowship with the sufferings of the Christ, rejoice ye, that also in the revelation of his glory ye may rejoice -- exulting;

14. ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ നാമം ഹേതുവായി നിന്ദ സഹിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാര്; മഹത്വത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവായ ദൈവാത്മാവു നിങ്ങളുടെമേല് ആവസിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

14. if ye be reproached in the name of Christ -- happy [are ye], because the Spirit of glory and of God upon you doth rest; in regard, indeed, to them, he is evil-spoken of, and in regard to you, he is glorified;

15. for let none of you suffer as a murderer, or thief, or evil-doer, or as an inspector into other men's matters;

16. ക്രിസ്ത്യാനിയായിട്ടു കഷ്ടം സഹക്കേണ്ടിവന്നാലോ ലജ്ജിക്കരുതു; ഈ നാമം ധരിച്ചിട്ടു ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തുകയത്രേ വേണ്ടതു.

16. and if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; and let him glorify God in this respect;

17. ന്യായവിധി ദൈവഗൃഹത്തില് ആരംഭിപ്പാന് സമയമായല്ലോ. അതു നമ്മില് തുടങ്ങിയാല് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സുവിശേഷം അനുസരിക്കാത്തവരുടെ അവസാനം എന്താകും?

17. because it is the time of the beginning of the judgment from the house of God, and if first from us, what the end of those disobedient to the good news of God?
