1. എന്നാല് ബോവസ് പട്ടണവാതില്ക്കല് ചെന്നു അവിടെ ഇരുന്നു; ബോവസ് പറഞ്ഞിരുന്ന വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരന് കടന്നുപോകുന്നതു കണ്ടുഎടോ, ഇങ്ങോട്ടു വന്നു ഇവിടെ ഇരിക്ക എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് ചെന്നു അവിടെ ഇരുന്നു.

1. Meanwhile, Bo'az had gone up to the gate and had sat down there, when the redeemer of whom Bo'az had spoken passed by. 'Such-and-such,' he said, 'come over, and sit down'; so he came over and sat down.

3. Then he said to the redeeming kinsman, 'The parcel of land which used to belong to our relative Elimelekh is being offered for sale by Na'omi, who has returned from the plain of Mo'av.

4. നിനക്കു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാന് മനസ്സുണ്ടെങ്കില് വീണ്ടെടുക്ക; വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാന് നിനക്കു മനസ്സില്ലെങ്കില് ഞാന് അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നോടു പറക; നീയും നീ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഞാനും അല്ലാതെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാന് ആരും ഇല്ല.

4. I thought I should tell you about it and say, 'Buy it in the presence of the people sitting here and in the presence of the leaders of my people. If you want to redeem it, redeem it. But if it is not to be redeemed, then tell me, so that I can know, because there is no one else in line to redeem it, and I'm after you.' He said, 'I want to redeem it.'

5. അതിന്നു അവന് ഞാന് വീണ്ടെടുക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള് ബോവസ്നീ നൊവൊമിയോടു വയല് വാങ്ങുന്ന നാളില് മരിച്ചവന്റെ അവകാശത്തിന്മേല് അവന്റെ പേര് നിലനിര്ത്തുവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം മരിച്ചവന്റെ ഭാര്യ മോവാബ്യ സ്ത്രീയായ രൂത്തിനെയും വാങ്ങേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. Then Bo'az said, 'The same day you buy the field from Na'omi, you must also buy Rut the woman from Mo'av, the wife of the deceased [[son]], in order to raise up in the name of the deceased an heir for his property.'

6. അതിന്നു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരന് എനിക്കു അതു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല; എന്റെ സ്വന്ത അവകാശം നഷ്ടമാക്കേണ്ടിവരും; ആകയാല് ഞാന് വീണ്ടെടുക്കേണ്ടതു നീ വീണ്ടെടുത്തുകൊള്ക; എനിക്കു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. The redeemer said, 'Then I can't redeem it for myself, because I might put my own inheritance at risk. You, take my right of redemption on yourself; because I can't redeem it.'

7. എന്നാല് വീണ്ടെടുപ്പും കൈമാറ്റവും സംബന്ധിച്ചുള്ള കാര്യം ഉറപ്പാക്കുവാന് ഒരുത്തന് തന്റെ ചെരിപ്പൂരി മറ്റേവന്നു കൊടുക്കുന്നതു യിസ്രായേലില് പണ്ടു നടപ്പായിരുന്നു; ഇതായിരുന്നു യിസ്രായേലില് ഉറപ്പാക്കുന്ന വിധം.

7. In the past, this is what was done in Isra'el to validate all transactions involving redemption and exchange: a man took off his shoe and gave it to the other party; this was the form of attestation in Isra'el.

8. അങ്ങനെ ആ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരന് ബോവസിനോടുനീ അതു വാങ്ങിക്കൊള്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു തന്റെ ചെരിപ്പൂരിക്കൊടുത്തു.

8. So the redeemer said to Bo'az, 'Buy it for yourself,' and took off his shoe.

9. അപ്പോള് ബോവസ് മൂപ്പന്മാരോടും സകല ജനത്തോടും പറഞ്ഞതുഎലീമേലെക്കിന്നുള്ളതൊക്കെയും കില്യോന്നും മഹ്ളോന്നും ഉള്ളതൊക്കെയും ഞാന് നൊവൊമിയോടു വാങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് ഇന്നു സാക്ഷികള് ആകുന്നു.

9. Bo'az addressed the leaders and all the people: 'You are witnesses today that I am purchasing from Na'omi all that belonged to Elimelekh and all that belonged to Kilyon and Machlon.

10. അത്രയുമല്ല മരിച്ചവന്റെ പേര് അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നും അവന്റെ പട്ടണവാതില്ക്കല്നിന്നും മാഞ്ഞുപോകാതവണ്ണം മരിച്ചവന്റെ പേര് അവന്റെ അവകാശത്തിന്മേല് നിലനിര്ത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു മഹ്ളോന്റെ ഭാര്യ മോവാബ്യസ്ത്രീയായ രൂത്തിനെയും എനിക്കു ഭാര്യയായി വാങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നതിന്നും നിങ്ങള് ഇന്നു സാക്ഷികള് ആകുന്നു.

10. Also I am acquiring as my wife Rut the woman from Mo'av, the wife of Machlon, in order to raise up in the name of the deceased an heir for his property; so that the name of the deceased will not be cut off from his kinsmen and from the gate of his place. You are witnesses today.'

11. അതിന്നു പട്ടണവാതില്ക്കല് ഇരുന്ന സകലജനവും മൂപ്പന്മാരും പറഞ്ഞതുഞങ്ങള് സാക്ഷികള് തന്നേ; നിന്റെ വീട്ടില് വന്നിരിക്കുന്ന സ്ത്രീയെ യഹോവ റാഹേലിനെപ്പോലെയും ലേയയെപ്പോലെയും ആക്കട്ടെ; അവര് ഇരുവരുമല്ലോ യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹം പണിതതു; എഫ്രാത്തയില് നീ പ്രബലനും ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമില് വിശ്രുതനുമായിരിക്ക.

11. All the people at the gate and the leaders said, 'We are witnesses. May ADONAI make the woman who has come into your house like Rachel and like Le'ah, who between them built up the house of Isra'el. Do worthy deeds in Efrat; become renowned in Beit-Lechem.

12. ഈ യുവതിയില്നിന്നു യഹോവ നിനക്കു നലകുന്ന സന്തതിയാല് നിന്റെ ഗൃഹം താമാര് യെഹൂദെക്കു പ്രസവിച്ച ഫേരെസിന്റെ ഗൃഹം പോലെ ആയ്തീരട്ടെ.

12. May your house, because of the seed ADONAI will give you from this young woman, become like the house of Peretz, whom Tamar bore to Y'hudah.'

13. ഇങ്ങനെ ബോവസ് രൂത്തിനെ പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചു; അവള് അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായി; അവന് അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നപ്പോള് യഹോവ അവള്ക്കു ഗര്ഭംനല്കി; അവള് ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

13. So Bo'az took Rut, and she became his wife. He had sexual relations with her, ADONAI enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son.

14. Then the women said to Na'omi, 'Blessed be ADONAI, who today has provided you a redeemer! May his name be renowned in Isra'el.

15. അവന് നിനക്കു ആശ്വാസപ്രദനും നിന്റെ വാര്ദ്ധക്യത്തിങ്കല് പോഷകനും ആയിരിക്കും. നിന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവളും ഏഴു പുത്രന്മാരെക്കാള് നിനക്കു ഉത്തമയുമായിരിക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ മരുമകളല്ലോ അവനെ പ്രസവിച്ചതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. May he restore your life and provide for your old age; for your daughter-in-law, who loves you and is better to you than seven sons, has given birth to him.'

16. നൊവൊമി കുഞ്ഞിനെ എടുത്തു മടിയില് കിടത്തി അവന്നു ധാത്രിയായ്തീര്ന്നു.

16. Na'omi took the child, laid it on her breast and became its nurse.

17. അവളുടെ അയല്ക്കാരത്തികള്നൊവൊമിക്കു ഒരു മകന് ജനിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു ഔബേദ് എന്നു പേര് വിളിച്ചു; ദാവീദിന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിശ്ശായിയുടെ അപ്പന് ഇവന് തന്നേ.

17. The women who were her neighbors gave it a name; they said, 'A son has been born to Na'omi,' and called it 'Oved. He was the father of Yishai the father of David.

18. Here is the genealogy of Peretz. Peretz was the father of Hetzron,

19. രാം അമ്മീനാദാബിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

19. Hetzron was the father of Ram, Ram was the father of 'Amminadav,

20. അമ്മീനാദാബ് നഹശോനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; നഹശോന് സല്മോനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

20. 'Amminadav was the father of Nachshon, Nachshon was the father of Salmon,

21. സല്മോന് ബോവസിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ബോവസ് ഔബേദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

21. Salmon was the father of Bo'az, Bo'az was the father of 'Oved,

22. ഔബേദ് യിശ്ശായിയെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; യിശ്ശായി ദാവീദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
