1. അപ്പോള് ശമൂവേല് തൈലപാത്രം എടുത്തു അവന്റെ തലയില് ഒഴിച്ചു അവനെ ചുംബിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതുയഹോവ തന്റെ അവകാശത്തിന്നു പ്രഭുവായി നിന്നെ അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

1. Then Samuel took a vial of oil and poured [it] upon his head and kissed him and said, [Is it] not because the LORD has anointed thee [to be] captain over his inheritance?

2. നീ ഇന്നു എന്നെ പിരിഞ്ഞുപോകുമ്പോള് ബെന്യാമീന്റെ അതിരിങ്കലെ സെല്സഹില് റാഹേലിന്റെ കല്ലറെക്കരികെവെച്ചു രണ്ടാളെ കാണും; നീ അന്വേഷിപ്പാന് പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോന്ന കഴുതകളെ കണ്ടുകിട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ അപ്പന് കഴുതയെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ചിന്ത വിട്ടുഎന്റെ മകന്നുവേണ്ടി ഞാന് എന്തു ചെയ്യേണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു വിഷാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവര് നിന്നോടു പറയും.

2. When thou art departed from me today, then thou shalt find two men by Rachel's sepulchre in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah, and they will say unto thee, The asses which thou didst go to seek are found, and thy father has left the care of the asses and sorrows for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?

3. അവിടെനിന്നു നീ മുമ്പോട്ടു ചെന്നു താബോരിലെ കരുവേലകത്തിന്നരികെ എത്തുമ്പോള് ഒരുത്തന് മൂന്നു ആട്ടിന് കുട്ടിയെയും വേറൊരുത്തന് മൂന്നു അപ്പവും വേറൊരുത്തന് ഒരു തുരുത്തി വീഞ്ഞും ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു ഇങ്ങനെ മൂന്നു പുരുഷന്മാര് ബേഥേലില് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കല് പോകുന്നതായി നിനക്കു എതിര്പെടും.

3. Then shalt thou go on forward from there, and thou shalt come to the plain of Tabor, and three men going up to God to Bethel shall meet thee, one carrying three kids and another carrying three loaves of bread and another carrying a bottle of wine.

4. അവര് നിന്നോടു കുശലം ചോദിക്കും; നിനക്കു രണ്ടു അപ്പവും തരും; നീ അതു അവരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വാങ്ങിക്കൊള്ളേണം.

4. And they will salute thee and give thee two [loaves] of bread; which thou shalt receive of their hands.

5. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം നീ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ പട്ടാളം ഉള്ള ദൈവഗിരിക്കു എത്തും; അവിടെ പട്ടണത്തില് കടക്കുമ്പോള് മുമ്പില് വീണ, തപ്പു, കുഴല്, കിന്നരം എന്നിവയോടുകൂടെ പൂജാഗിരിയില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവരുന്ന ഒരു പ്രവാചകഗണത്തെ കാണും; അവര് പ്രവചിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും.

5. After that thou shalt come to the hill of God where the garrison of the Philistines [is], and it shall come to pass when thou art come there to the city, that thou shalt meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery and a tambourine and a pipe and a harp before them; and they shall prophesy.

6. യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു ശക്തിയോടെ നിന്റെമേല് വന്നിട്ടു നീയും അവരോടുകൂടെ പ്രവചിക്കയും ആള് മാറിയതുപോലെ ആയ്തീരുകയും ചെയ്യും.

6. And the Spirit of the LORD will prosper thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them and shalt be turned into another man.

7. ഈ അടയാളങ്ങള് നിനക്കു സംഭവിക്കുമ്പോള് യുക്തമെന്നു തോന്നുന്നതു ചെയ്ക; ദൈവം നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു.

7. And let it be when these signs are come unto thee [that] thou do [according] as thou shalt find at hand, for God [is] with thee.

8. എന്നാല് നീ എനിക്കു മുമ്പെ ഗില്ഗാലിലേക്കു പോകേണം; ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളും സമാധാനയാഗങ്ങളും കഴിപ്പാന് ഞാന് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരും; ഞാന് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു നീ ചെയ്യേണ്ടതെന്തെന്നു പറഞ്ഞുതരുവോളം ഏഴു ദിവസം അവിടെ കാത്തിരിക്കേണം.

8. And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal, and, behold, I will come down unto thee to offer burnt offerings [and] to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings. Seven days shalt thou tarry until I come to thee and show thee what thou shalt do.

9. ഇങ്ങനെ അവന് ശമൂവേലിനെ വിട്ടുപിരിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് ദൈവം അവന്നു വേറൊരു ഹൃദയംകൊടുത്തു; ആ അടയാളങ്ങളെല്ലാം അന്നു തന്നേ സംഭവിച്ചു.

9. And it was [so] that when he had turned his shoulder to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart, and all those signs came to pass that day.

10. അവര് അവിടെ ഗിരിയിങ്കല് എത്തിയപ്പോള് ഒരു പ്രവാചകഗണം ഇതാ, അവന്നെതിരെ വരുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവു ശക്തിയോടെ അവന്റെമേല് വന്നു; അവന് അവരുടെ ഇടയില് പ്രവചിച്ചു.

10. And when they came there to the hill, behold, the company of prophets met him, and the Spirit of God prospered him, and he prophesied among them.

11. അവനെ മുമ്പെ അറിഞ്ഞവര് ഒക്കെയും അവന് പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് പ്രവചിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടപ്പോള്കീശിന്റെ മകന്നു എന്തു സംഭവിച്ചു? ശൌലും പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് ആയോ എന്നു ജനം തമ്മില് തമ്മില് പറഞ്ഞു.

11. And it came to pass when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What has happened to the son of Kish? [Is] Saul also among the prophets?

12. അതിന്നു അവിടത്തുകാരില് ഒരുത്തന് ആരാകുന്നു അവരുടെ ഗുരുനാഥന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ആകയാല് ശൌലും ഉണ്ടോ പ്രവാചകഗണത്തില് എന്നുള്ളതു പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലായി തീര്ന്നു.

12. And one of the same place answered and said, But who [is] their father? Therefore, it became a proverb, [Is] Saul also among the prophets?

13. അവന് പ്രവചിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം ഗിബെയയില് എത്തി.

13. And he ceased prophesying and came to the high place.

14. ശൌലിന്റെ ഇളയപ്പന് അവനോടും അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യനോടുംനിങ്ങള് എവിടെ പോയിരുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. കഴുതകളെ തിരയുവാന് പോയിരുന്നു; അവയെ കാണായ്കയാല് ഞങ്ങള് ശമൂവേലിന്റെ അടുക്കല് പോയി എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

14. And Saul's uncle said unto him and to his servant, Where went ye? And he said, To seek the asses, and when we saw that [they were] nowhere, we came to Samuel.

15. ശമൂവേല് നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞതു എന്നെ അറിയിക്കേണം എന്നു ശൌലിന്റെ ഇളയപ്പന് പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And Saul's uncle said, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said unto you.

16. ശൌല് തന്റെ ഇളയപ്പനോടുകഴുതകളെ കണ്ടുകിട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവന് ഞങ്ങളോടു തിട്ടമായി അറിയിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; എങ്കിലും ശമൂവേല് രാജത്വം സംബന്ധിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതു അവന് അവനോടു അറിയിച്ചില്ല.

16. And Saul said unto his uncle, He told us plainly that the asses were found. But of the matter of the kingdom, of which Samuel spoke, he did not tell him.

17. അനന്തരം ശമൂവേല് ജനത്തെ മിസ്പയില് യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി,

17. And Samuel called the people together unto the LORD to Mizpeh

18. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് യിസ്രായേലിനെ മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു മിസ്രയീമ്യരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നും നിങ്ങളെ ഉപദ്രവിച്ച സകലരാജ്യക്കാരുടെയും കയ്യില്നിന്നും നിങ്ങളെ വിടുവിച്ചു.

18. and said unto the sons of Israel, Thus hath the LORD God of Israel said, I brought up Israel out of Egypt and delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of all kingdoms [and] of those that oppressed you.

19. നിങ്ങളോ സകല അനര്ത്ഥങ്ങളില്നിന്നും കഷ്ടങ്ങളില്നിന്നും നിങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിച്ച നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തെ ഇന്നു ത്യജിച്ചുഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ഒരു രാജാവിനെ നിയമിച്ചുതരേണമെന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. ആകയാല് നിങ്ങള് ഇപ്പോള് ഗോത്രംഗോത്രമായും സഹസ്രംസഹസ്രമായും യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് നില്പിന് .

19. But ye have this day rejected your God, who saves you out of all your afflictions and your troubles, and ye have said unto him, [No], but set a king over us. Now, therefore, present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes and by your thousands.

20. അങ്ങനെ ശമൂവേല് യിസ്രായേല്ഗോത്രങ്ങളെയെല്ലാം അടുത്തു വരുമാറാക്കി; ബെന്യാമീന് ഗോത്രത്തിന്നു ചീട്ടു വീണു.
പ്രവൃത്തികൾ അപ്പ. പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ 13:21

20. And when Samuel had caused all the tribes of Israel to come near, the tribe of Benjamin was taken.

21. അവന് ബെന്യാമീന് ഗോത്രത്തെ കുടുംബംകുടുംബമായി അടുത്തുവരുമാറാക്കി; മത്രികുടുംബത്തിന്നു ചീട്ടു വീണു; പിന്നെ കീശിന്റെ മകനായ ശൌലിന്നു ചീട്ടുവീണു; അവര് അവനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചപ്പോള് കണ്ടില്ല.
പ്രവൃത്തികൾ അപ്പ. പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ 13:21

21. When he had caused the tribe of Benjamin to come near by their lineages, the family of Matri was taken, and [from it] Saul the son of Kish was taken, and when they sought him, he could not be found.

22. അവര് പിന്നെയും യഹോവയോടുആയാള് ഇവിടെ വന്നിട്ടുണ്ടോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു യഹോവഅവന് സാമാനങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

22. Therefore, they enquired of the LORD further, if the man should yet come there. And the LORD answered, Behold, he has hid himself among the stuff.

23. അവര് ഔടിച്ചെന്നു അവിടെനിന്നു അവനെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. ജനമദ്ധ്യേ നിന്നപ്പോള് അവന് ജനത്തില് എല്ലാവരെക്കാളും തോള്മുതല് പൊക്കമേറിയവനായിരുന്നു.

23. And they ran and took him from there, and when he stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward.

24. അപ്പോള് ശമൂവേല് സര്വ്വജനത്തോടുംയഹോവ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തവനെ നിങ്ങള് കാണുന്നുവോ? സര്വ്വജനത്തിലും അവനെപ്പോലെ ഒരുത്തനും ഇല്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ജനമെല്ലാംരാജാവേ, ജയ ജയ എന്നു ആര്ത്തു.
പ്രവൃത്തികൾ അപ്പ. പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ 13:21

24. And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD has chosen, that [there is] none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted and said, [Long] live the king.

25. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം ശമൂവേല് രാജധര്മ്മം ജനത്തെ പറഞ്ഞുകേള്പ്പിച്ചു; അതു ഒരു പുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതി യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് വെച്ചു. പിന്നെ ശമൂവേല് ജനത്തെയെല്ലാം വീട്ടിലേക്കു പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.

25. Then Samuel recited unto the people the rights of the kingdom and wrote [it] in a book and laid [it] up before the LORD. And Samuel sent all the people away, each one to his house.

26. ശൌലും ഗിബെയയില് തന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോയി; ദൈവം മനസ്സില് തോന്നിച്ച ഒരു ആള്ക്കൂട്ടവും അവനോടുകൂടെ പോയി.

26. And Saul also went home to Gibeah, and there went with him [some from] the army, whose hearts God had touched.

27. എന്നാല് ചില നീചന്മാര്ഇവന് നമ്മെ എങ്ങനെ രക്ഷിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ ധിക്കരിച്ചു, അവന്നു കാഴ്ച കൊണ്ടുവരാതിരുന്നു. അവനോ അതു ഗണ്യമാക്കിയില്ല .

27. But the sons of Belial said, How shall this man save us? And they despised him and brought him no presents. But he pretended not to notice.:
