1. അനന്തരം യോസേഫിന്നുനിന്റെ അപ്പന് ദീനമായി കിടക്കുന്നു എന്നു വര്ത്തമാനം വന്നു; ഉടനെ അവന് മനശ്ശെ, എഫ്രയീം എന്ന രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാരെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു

1. Now after these things, word came to Joseph that his father was ill: and he took with him his sons Manasseh and Ephraim.

2. നിന്റെ മകന് യോസേഫ് ഇതാവരുന്നു എന്നു യാക്കോബിനെ അറിയിച്ചു; അപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല് തന്നെത്താന് ഉറപ്പിച്ചു കട്ടിലിന്മേല് ഇരുന്നു.

2. And when they said to Jacob, Your son Joseph is coming to see you: then Israel, getting all his strength together, had himself lifted up in his bed.

3. യാക്കോബ് യോസേഫിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുസര്വ്വശക്തിയുള്ള ദൈവം കനാന് ദേശത്തിലെ ലൂസ്സില്വെച്ചു എനിക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി എന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു,

3. And Jacob said to Joseph, God, the Ruler of all, came to me in a vision at Luz in the land of Canaan, and gave me his blessing,

4. എന്നോടുഞാന് നിന്നെ സന്താനപുഷ്ടിയുള്ളവനാക്കി പെരുക്കി നിന്നെ ജനസമൂഹമാക്കുകയും നിന്റെ ശേഷം നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കു ഈ ദേശം ശാശ്വതാവകാശമായി കൊടുക്കയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

4. And said to me, Truly, I will make you fertile and give you increase and will make of you a great family of nations: and I will give this land to your seed after you to be their heritage for ever.

5. മിസ്രയീമില് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഞാന് വരുംമുമ്പെ നിനക്കു മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുവെച്ചു ജനിച്ച രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാരായ മനശ്ശെയും എഫ്രയീമും എനിക്കുള്ളവര് ആയിരിക്കട്ടെ; രൂബേനും ശിമെയോനും എന്നപോലെ അവര് എനിക്കുള്ളവരായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

5. And now your two sons who came to birth in Egypt before I came to you here, are mine; Ephraim and Manasseh will be mine, in the same way as Reuben and Simeon are.

6. ഇവരുടെ ശേഷം നിനക്കു ജനിക്കുന്ന സന്തതിയോ നിനക്കുള്ളവരായിരിക്കട്ടെ; അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ അവകാശത്തില് തങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ പേരിന് പ്രകാരം വിളിക്കപ്പെടട്ടെ.

6. And any other offspring which you have after them, will be yours, and will be named after their brothers in their heritage.

7. ഞാന് പദ്ദനില്നിന്നു വരുമ്പോള്, കനാന് ദേശത്തു എഫ്രാത്തില് എത്തുവാന് അല്പം ദൂരം മാത്രമുള്ളപ്പോള് വഴിയില്വെച്ചു റാഹേല് മരിച്ചു; ഞാന് അവളെ അവിടെ ബേത്ത്ളേഹെം എന്ന എഫ്രാത്തിന്നുള്ള വഴിയരികെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.

7. And as for me, when I came from Paddan, death overtook Rachel on the way, when we were still some distance from Ephrath; and I put her to rest there on the road to Ephrath, which is Beth-lehem.

8. യിസ്രായേല് യോസേഫിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെ കണ്ടുപ്പോള്ഇവര് ആരെന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

8. Then Israel, looking at Joseph's sons, said, Who are these?

9. ദൈവം ഇവിടെ എനിക്കു തന്നിട്ടുള്ള പുത്രന്മാര് എന്നു യോസേഫ് അപ്പനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അവരെ എന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരിക; ഞാന് അവരെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കും എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

9. And Joseph said to his father, They are my sons, whom God has given me in this land. And he said, Let them come near me, and I will give them a blessing.

10. എന്നാല് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ കണ്ണു വയസ്സുകൊണ്ടു മങ്ങി കാണ്മാന് വഹിയാതിരുന്നു; അവരെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുചെന്നപ്പോള് അവന് അവരെ ചുംബിച്ചു ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്തു.

10. Now because Israel was old, his eyes were no longer clear, and he was not able to see. So he made them come near to him, and he gave them a kiss, folding them in his arms.

11. യിസ്രായേല് യോസേഫിനോടുനിന്റെ മുഖം കാണുമെന്നു ഞാന് വിചാരിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല; എന്നാല് നിന്റെ സന്തതിയെയും കാണ്മാന് ദൈവം എനിക്കു സംഗതിവരുത്തിയല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. And Israel said to Joseph, I had no hope of seeing your face again, but God in his mercy has let me see you and your children.

12. യോസേഫ് അവരെ അവന്റെ മുഴങ്കാലുകള്ക്കിടയില് നിന്നു മാറ്റി സാഷ്ടാംഗം നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

12. Then Joseph took them from between his knees, and went down on his face to the earth.

13. പിന്നെ യോസേഫ് എഫ്രയീമിനെ വലങ്കൈകൊണ്ടു പിടിച്ചു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ഇടങ്കൈകൂ നേരെയും മനശ്ശെയെ ഇടങ്കൈകൊണ്ടു പിടിച്ചു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ വലങ്കൈകൂ നേരെയുമായി ഇങ്ങനെ രണ്ടുപേരെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു.

13. Then taking Ephraim with his right hand, Joseph put him at Israel's left side, and with his left hand he put Manasseh at Israel's right side, placing them near him.

14. യിസ്രായേല് വലങ്കൈ നീട്ടി ഇളയവനായ എഫ്രയീമിന്റെ തലയിലും ഇടങ്കൈ മൂത്തവനായ മനശ്ശെയുടെ തലയിലുമായി അങ്ങനെ തന്റെ കൈകളെ പിണെച്ചുവെച്ചു.

14. And Israel, stretching out his right hand, put it on the head of Ephraim, the younger, and his left hand on the head of Manasseh, crossing his hands on purpose, for Manasseh was the older.

15. പിന്നെ അവന് യോസേഫിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചുഎന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരായ അബ്രാഹാമും യിശ്ഹാക്കും ഭജിച്ചുപോന്ന ദൈവം, ഞാന് ജനിച്ച നാള്മുതല് ഇന്നുവരെയും എന്നെ പുലര്ത്തിയിരിക്കുന്ന ദൈവം,

15. And he gave Joseph a blessing, saying, May the God to whom my fathers, Abraham and Isaac, gave worship, the God who has taken care of me all my life till this day,

16. എന്നെ സകലദോഷങ്ങളില്നിന്നും വിടുവിച്ച ദൂതന് ഈ കുട്ടികളെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ; എന്റെ പേരും എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെയും യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെയും പേരും ഇവരില് നിലനിലക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ; അവര് ഭൂമിയില് കൂട്ടമായി വര്ദ്ധിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. The angel who has been my saviour from all evil, send his blessing on these children: and let my name and the name of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac, be given to them; and let them become a great nation in the earth.

17. അപ്പന് വലങ്കൈ എഫ്രയീമിന്റെ തലയില്വെച്ചു എന്നു യോസേഫ് കണ്ടപ്പോള് അവന്നു അനിഷ്ടം തോന്നി; അപ്പന്റെ കൈ എഫ്രയീമിന്റെ തലയില്നിന്നു മനശ്ശെയുടെ തലയില് മാറ്റിവെപ്പാന് പിടിച്ചു.

17. Now when Joseph saw that his father had put his right hand on the head of Ephraim, it did not seem right to him; and lifting his father's hand he would have put it on the head of Manasseh.

18. യോസേഫ് അപ്പനോടുഅങ്ങനെയല്ല, എന്റെ അപ്പാ; ഇവനല്ലോ ആദ്യജാതന് ; ഇവന്റെ തലയില് വലങ്കൈ വെക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. And Joseph said to his father, Not so, my father, for this is the older; put your right hand on his head.

19. എന്നാല് അവന്റെ അപ്പന് സമ്മതിക്കാതെ എനിക്കു അറിയാം; മകനേ, എനിക്കു അറിയാം; ഇവനും ഒരു വലിയ ജനമായിത്തീരും, ഇവനും വര്ദ്ധിക്കും; എങ്കിലും അനുജന് അവനെക്കാള് അധികം വര്ദ്ധിക്കും; അവന്റെ സന്തതി ജനസമൂഹമായ്തീരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. But his father would not, saying, I am doing it on purpose, my son; he will certainly become a nation and a great one; but his younger brother will be greater than he, and his seed will become a great family of nations.

20. അങ്ങനെ അവന് അന്നു അവരെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചുദൈവം നിന്നെ എഫ്രയീമിനെയും മനശ്ശെയെയുംപോലെ ആക്കുമാറാകട്ട എന്നു യിസ്രായേല്യര് നിന്റെ പേര് ചൊല്ലി അനുഗ്രഹിക്കും. എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു എഫ്രയീമിനെ മനശ്ശെക്കു മുമ്പാക്കി.

20. So he gave them his blessing that day, saying, You will be the sign of blessing in Israel, for they will say, May God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh; and he put Ephraim before Manasseh.

21. യോസേഫിനോടു യിസ്രായേല് പറഞ്ഞതുഇതാ, ഞാന് മരിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവം നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു നിങ്ങളെ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദേശത്തേക്കു മടക്കി കൊണ്ടുപോകും.

21. Then Israel said to Joseph, Now my death is near; but God will be with you, guiding you back to the land of your fathers.

22. എന്റെ വാളും വില്ലുംകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് അമോര്യ്യരുടെ കയ്യില് നിന്നു പിടിച്ചടക്കിയ മലഞ്ചരിവു ഞാന് നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ ഔഹരിയില് കവിഞ്ഞതായി നിനക്കു തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

22. And I have given you more than your brothers, even Shechem as your heritage, which I took from the Amorites with my sword and my bow.
