1. അനന്തരം അബ്ശാലോം ഒരു രഥത്തെയും കുതിരകളെയും തന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഔടുവാന് അമ്പതു അകമ്പടികളെയും സമ്പാദിച്ചു.

1. And it happened afterward that Absalom prepared a chariot for himself, and horses, and fifty men running before him.

2. അബ്ശാലോം അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു പടിവാതില്ക്കല് വഴിയരികെ നിലക്കും; ആരെങ്കിലും വ്യവഹാരം ഉണ്ടായിട്ടു രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വിസ്താരത്തിന്നായി വരുമ്പോള് അബ്ശാലോം അവനെ വിളിച്ചുനീ ഏതു പട്ടണക്കാരന് എന്നു ചോദിക്കും; അടിയന് യിസ്രായേലില് ഇന്ന ഗോത്രക്കാരന് എന്നു അവന് പറയുമ്പോള്

2. And Absalom rose up and stood by the side of the way of the gate. And it happened that every man who had a cause to come to the king for judgment, Absalom called to him and said, Of what city are you? And he said, Your servant is from one of the tribes of Israel.

3. അബ്ശാലോം അവനോടുനിന്റെ കാര്യം ന്യായവും നേരുമുള്ളതു; എങ്കിലും നിന്റെ കാര്യം കേള്പ്പാന് രാജാവു ആരെയും കല്പിച്ചാക്കീട്ടില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറയും.

3. And Absalom said to him, Behold, your matters are good and right. And there is no listener to you from the king.

4. ഹാ, വഴക്കും വ്യവഹാരവും ഉള്ളവരൊക്കെയും എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നിട്ടു ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും ന്യായം തീര്പ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം എന്നെ രാജ്യത്തു ന്യായാധിപനാക്കിയെങ്കില് കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു എന്നും അബ്ശാലോം പറയും.

4. And Absalom said, Who shall make me a judge in the land, that every man who has a dispute, I will then declare him right, even with justice?

5. ആരെങ്കിലും അവനെ നമസ്കരിപ്പാന് അടുത്തു ചെന്നാല് അവന് കൈ നീട്ടി അവനെ പിടിച്ചു ചുംബനം ചെയ്യും.

5. And it happened, when a man drew near to bow himself to him, he put out his hand and laid hold on him, and gave him a kiss.

6. രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ന്യായവിസ്താരത്തിന്നു വരുന്ന എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനോടും അബ്ശാലോം ഇവ്വണ്ണം തന്നേ ചെയ്തു; അങ്ങനെ അബ്ശാലോം യിസ്രായേല്യരുടെ ഹൃദയം വശീകരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

6. And Absalom acted this way to all Israel who came in to the king for judgment. And Absalom stole the heart of the men of Israel.

7. നാലുസംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് അബ്ശാലോം രാജാവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഞാന് യഹോവേക്കു നേര്ന്ന ഒരു നേര്ച്ച ഹെബ്രോനില് ചെന്നു കഴിപ്പാന് അനുവാദം തരേണമേ.

7. And at the end of forty years, it happened, Absalom said to the king, Please let me go and I shall pay my vow that I have vowed to Jehovah, in Hebron.

8. യഹോവ എന്നെ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു മടക്കിവരുത്തിയാല് യഹോവേക്കു ഒരു ആരാധന കഴിക്കും എന്നു അടിയന് അരാമിലെ ഗെശൂരില് പാര്ത്ത കാലം ഒരു നേര്ച്ച നേര്ന്നിരുന്നു.

8. For your servant has vowed a vow when I lived in Geshur in Syria, saying, If Jehovah bringing shall bring me back to Jerusalem, then I shall serve Jehovah.

9. രാജാവു അവനോടുസമാധാനത്തോടെ പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഹെബ്രോനിലേക്കു പോയി.

9. And the king said to him, Go in peace. And he rose up and went to Hebron.

10. എന്നാല് അബ്ശാലോം യിസ്രായേല്ഗോത്രങ്ങളില് എല്ലാടവും ചാരന്മാരെ അയച്ചുനിങ്ങള് കാഹളനാദം കേള്ക്കുമ്പോള് അബ്ശാലോം ഹെബ്രോനില് രാജാവായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറവിന് എന്നു പറയിച്ചിരുന്നു.

10. And Absalom sent spies among all the tribes of Israel, saying, When you hear the sound of the ram's horn, then you shall say, Absalom is king in Hebron.

11. അബ്ശാലോമിനോടുകൂടെ യെരൂശലേമില്നിന്നു ക്ഷണിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരായി ഇരുനൂറു പേര് പോയിരുന്നു. അവര് ഒന്നും അറിയാതെ തങ്ങളുടെ പരമാര്ത്ഥതയിലായിരുന്നു പോയതു.

11. And two hundred men went out of Jerusalem with Absalom, chosen ones. And they went out in their simplicity and did not know anything.

12. അബ്ശാലോം യാഗം കഴിക്കുമ്പോള് ദാവീദിന്റെ മന്ത്രിയായ അഹീഥോഫെല് എന്ന ഗീലോന്യനെയും അവന്റെ പട്ടണമായ ഗീലോനില്നിന്നു ആളയച്ചുവരുത്തി; ഇങ്ങനെ ജനം നിത്യം അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുകൂടുകയാല് കൂട്ടുകെട്ടിന്നു ബലം ഏറിവന്നു.

12. And Absalom sent Ahithophel the Gilonite, a counselor of David, out of his city, out of Giloh, as he offered the sacrifices. And the conspiracy was strong. And the people were going on and increasing with Absalom.

13. അനന്തരം ഒരു ദൂതന് ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കല്വന്നുയിസ്രായേല്യരുടെ ഹൃദയം അബ്ശാലോമിനോടു യേജിച്ചുപോയി എന്നറിയിച്ചു.

13. And a messenger came to David, saying, The hearts of the men of Israel have gone after Absalom.

14. അപ്പോള് ദാവീദ് യെരൂശലേമില് തന്നോടു കൂടെയുള്ള സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരോടുംനാം എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഔടിപ്പോക; അല്ലെങ്കില് നമ്മില് ആരും അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു തെറ്റിപ്പോകയില്ല; അവന് പെട്ടെന്നു വന്നു നമ്മെ പിടിച്ചു നമുക്കു അനര്ത്ഥം വരുത്തുകയും പട്ടണത്തെ വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാല് നശിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ക്ഷണത്തില് പുറപ്പെടുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. And David said to all his servants who were with him in Jerusalem, Rise up, and we will flee; for we have no escape from the face of Absalom. Hurry to leave, that he not overtake us and bring evil down on us, and strike the city with the mouth of the sword.

15. രാജഭൃത്യന്മാര് രാജാവിനോടുയജമാനനായ രാജാവിന്റെ ഹിതമൊക്കെയും അടിയങ്ങള്ക്കു സമ്മതം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And the king's servants said to the king, According to all that my lord the king desires, behold, your servants will do.

16. അങ്ങനെ രാജാവു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവന്റെ ഗൃഹമൊക്കെയും അവനെ പിഞ്ചെന്നു; എന്നാല് രാജധാനി സൂക്ഷിപ്പാന് രാജാവു പത്തു വെപ്പാട്ടികളെ താമസിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.

16. And the king went out, and all his household at his feet. And the king left ten women, concubines, to keep the house.

17. ഇങ്ങനെ രാജാവു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ജനമൊക്കെയും പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു; അവര് ബേത്ത്-മെര്ഹാക്കില് നിന്നു;

17. And the king went out, and all the people at his feet. And they stood still at the house farthest away.

18. അവന്റെ സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരും അവന്റെ അരികത്തുകൂടി കടന്നുപോയി; എല്ലാക്രേത്യരും എല്ലാപ്ളേത്യരും അവനോടുകൂടെ ഗത്തില്നിന്നു പോന്നിരുന്ന അറുനൂറുപേരായ എല്ലാഗിത്യരും രാജാവിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ കടന്നുപോയി.

18. And all his servants were passing on by his side, and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men who came at his feet from Gath. These were passing on before the king.

19. രാജാവു ഗിത്യനായ ഇത്ഥായിയോടു പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാല്നീയും ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ വരുന്നതു എന്തിനു? നീ മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു രാജാവിനോടുകൂടെ പാര്ക്ക; നീ പരദേശിയും സ്വദേശഭ്രഷ്ടനും അല്ലോ; നിന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു തന്നേ പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ക;

19. And the king said to Ittai the Gittite, Why do you go, even you with us? Turn back and remain with the king, for you are an alien, and also you are an exile. Go to your place.

20. നീ ഇന്നലെ വന്നതേയുള്ളു; ഇന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നെ ഞങ്ങളോടു കൂടെ അലഞ്ഞുനടക്കുമാറാക്കുമോ? ഞാന് തരം കാണുന്നേടത്തേക്കു പോകുന്നു; നീ നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെയും കൂട്ടി മടങ്ങിപ്പോക; ദയയും വിശ്വസ്തതയും നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കട്ടെ.

20. You came in yesterday and today. Should I make you go with us, to go while I go, where I go? Turn back, and turn your brothers to go with you in kindness and truth.

21. അതിന്നു ഇത്ഥായി രാജാവിനോടുയഹോവയാണ, യജമാനനായ രാജാവാണ, യജമാനനായ രാജാവു എവിടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നുവോ അവിടെത്തന്നെ മരണമോ ജീവനോ എന്തു വന്നാലും അടിയനും ഇരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. And Ittai replied to the king and said, As Jehovah lives, and my lord the king lives, surely in the place where my lord the king is, there your servant shall be, whether for death or for life.

22. ദാവീദ് ഇത്ഥായിയോടുനീ കൂടെ പോരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അങ്ങനെ ഗിത്യനായ ഇത്ഥായിയും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും അവനോടുകൂടെയുള്ള കുഞ്ഞുകുട്ടികളും എല്ലാം കടന്നുപോയി.

22. And David said to Ittai, Go on and pass over. And Ittai the Gittite passed over, and all his men, and all the little ones with him.

23. ദേശത്തൊക്കെയും വലിയ കരച്ചലായി; ജനമെല്ലാം കടന്നുപായി; രാജാവും കിദ്രോന് തോടു കടന്നു; ജനമൊക്കെയും മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കുള്ള വഴിക്കുപോയി.

23. And all the land was weeping with a loud voice. And all the people were passing over. And the king was passing over through the torrent Kidron, and all the people passed over, toward the way of the wilderness.

24. സാദോക്കും അവനോടുകൂടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നിയമപ്പെട്ടകം ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു എല്ലാ ലേവ്യരും വന്നു. അവര് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം താഴെ വെച്ചു, ജനമൊക്കെയും പട്ടണത്തില്നിന്നു കടന്നുതീരുംവരെ അബ്യാഥാര് മല കയറി ചെന്നു.

24. And, behold, Zadok also came, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God. And they set the ark of God down. And Abiathar went up until all the people finished passing on out of the city.

25. രാജാവു സാദോക്കിനോടുനീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുപോക; യഹോവേക്കു എന്നോടു കൃപ തോന്നിയാല് അവന് എന്നെ മടിക്കവരുത്തും; ഇതും തിരുനിവാസവും കാണ്മാന് എനിക്കു ഇടയാകും.

25. And the king said to Zadok, Take the ark of God back to the city. If I find grace in the eyes of Jehovah, then He will bring me back and make me see it and His dwelling place.

26. അല്ല, എനിക്കു നിന്നില് പ്രസാദമില്ല എന്നു അവന് കല്പിക്കുന്നെങ്കില്, ഇതാ, ഞാന് ഒരുക്കം; അവന് തനിക്കു ഹിതമാകുംവണ്ണം എന്നോടു ചെയ്യട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. And if He says this, I have not delighted in you, behold, I am here. He shall do to me as seems good in His eyes.

27. രാജാവു പിന്നെയും പുരോഹിതനായ സാദോക്കിനോടുദര്ശകാ, നീ സമാധാനത്തോടെ പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോക; നിങ്ങളുടെ രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാര്, നിന്റെ മകന് അഹീമാസും അബ്യാഥാരിന്റെ മകന് യോനാഥാനും നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ.

27. And the king said to Zadok the priest, Are you a seer? Return to the city in peace, and your two sons with you, your son Ahimaaz, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.

28. എനിക്കു നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല്നിന്നു സൂക്ഷ്മവര്ത്തമാനം കിട്ടുംവരെ ഞാന് മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കുള്ള കടവിങ്കല് താമസിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. Behold, I will wait in the plain of the wilderness until word comes from you to report to me.

29. അങ്ങനെ സാദോക്കും അബ്യാഥാരും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി, അവിടെ താമസിച്ചു.

29. And Zadok and Abiathar took the ark of God back to Jerusalem. And they remained there.

30. ദാവീദ് തല മൂടിയും ചെരിപ്പിടാതെയും നടന്നു കരഞ്ഞുംകൊണ്ടു ഒലിവുമലയുടെ കയറ്റംകയറി; കൂടെയുള്ള ജനമൊക്കെയും തല മൂടി കരഞ്ഞുംകൊണ്ടു കയറിച്ചെന്നു.

30. And David was going up in the ascent of the olives, going up and weeping. And his head was covered, and he was going barefooted. And all the people who were with him each had covered his head, and had gone up, going up and weeping.

31. അബ്ശാലോമിനോടുകൂടെയുള്ള കൂട്ടുകെട്ടുകാരില് അഹീഥോഫെലും ഉണ്ടെന്നു ദാവീദിന്നു അറിവുകിട്ടിയപ്പോള്യഹോവ, അഹീഥോഫെലിന്റെ ആലോചനയെ അബദ്ധമാക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

31. And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O Jehovah, I pray You, make the counsel of Ahithophel foolish.

32. പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് മലമുകളില് ദൈവത്തെ ആരാധിച്ചുവന്ന സ്ഥലത്തു എത്തിയപ്പോള് അര്ഖ്യനായ ഹൂശായി അങ്കി കീറിയും തലയില് മണ്ണു വാരിയിട്ടുംകൊണ്ടു അവന്നെതിരെ വരുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

32. And it happened as David had come to the top, there where he bowed to God. And, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him, his tunic torn, and earth on his head.

33. അവനോടു ദാവീദ് പറഞ്ഞതുനീ എന്നോടു കൂടെ പോന്നാല് എനിക്കു ഭാരമായിരിക്കും.

33. And David said to him, If you pass on with me, then you shall be a burden to me.

34. എന്നാല് നീ പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു അബ്ശാലോമിനോടുരാജാവേ, ഞാന് നിന്റെ ദാസനായിരുന്നുകൊള്ളാം; ഞാന് ഇതുവരെ നിന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ ദാസന് ആയിരുന്നതുപോലെ ഇപ്പോള് നിന്റെ ദാസനായിരിക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാല് നിനക്കു അഹീഥോഫെലിന്റെ ആലോചനയെ വ്യര്ത്ഥമാക്കുവാന് കഴിയും.

34. But if you return to the city, and shall say to Absalom, I also will be your servant, O king; I was servant of your father before now; and now I am also your servant. Then you can break down the counsel of Ahithophel for me.

35. അവിടെ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ പുരോഹിതന്മാരായ സാദോക്കും അബ്യാഥാരും ഉണ്ടു. അതുകൊണ്ടു രാജധാനിയില്നിന്നു കേള്ക്കുന്നവര്ത്തമാനമൊക്കെയും നീ പുരോഹിതന്മാരായ സാദോക്കിനെയും അബ്യാഥാരിനെയും അറിയിക്കേണം.

35. And do you not have there with you Zadok and Abiathar, the priests? And it shall be, you shall declare everything that you hear from the house of the king; you shall report to Zadok and to Abiathar, the priests.

36. അവിടെ അവരോടു കൂടെ അവരുടെ രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാര്, സാദോക്കിന്റെ മകന് അഹീമാസും അബ്യാഥാരിന്റെ മകന് യോനാഥാനും ഉണ്ടു; നിങ്ങള് കേള്ക്കുന്ന വര്ത്തമാനം ഒക്കെയും അവര് മുഖാന്തരം എന്നെ അറിയിപ്പിന് .

36. Behold, there are with them their two sons, Ahimaaz to Zadok, and Jonathan to Abiathar. And you shall send to me by their hand anything that you hear.

37. അങ്ങനെ ദാവീദിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനായ ഹൂശായി പട്ടണത്തില് ചെന്നു. അബ്ശാലോമും യെരൂശലേമില് എത്തി.

37. And David's friend Hushai came into the city. And Absalom came into Jerusalem.
