1. അരാമും യിസ്രായേലും മൂന്നു സംവത്സരം തമ്മില് യുദ്ധം കൂടാതെ പാര്ത്തു.

1. And there continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.

2. മൂന്നാം ആണ്ടിലോ യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു.

2. But it came to pass, in the third year, that Jehoshaphat king of Judah went down unto the king of Israel.

3. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടുഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്ത് നമുക്കുള്ളതെന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നുവോ? നാം അതിനെ അരാംരാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില് നിന്നു പിടിക്കാതെ അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that, ours, is Ramoth-gilead, yet, we, are too idle to take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?

4. അവന് യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടുനീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഗിലെയാദിലെരാമോത്തില് യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോരുമോ? എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിനോടുഞാനും നീയും എന്റെ ജനവും നിന്റെ ജനവും എന്റെ കുതിരകളും നിന്റെ കുതിരകളും ഒരുപോലെയല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to make war upon Ramoth-gilead?

5. എന്നാല് യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിനോടുഇന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിച്ചാലും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people are us thy people, my horses as thy horses.

6. അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു ഏകദേശം നാനൂറു പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി അവരോടുഞാന് ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോകയോ പോകാതിരിക്കയോ എന്തു വേണ്ടു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവര് പുറപ്പെടുക; കര്ത്താവു അതു രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. Then said Jehoshaphat unto the king of Israel, Seek, I pray thee, at once, the word of Yahweh. So the king of Israel gathered together the prophets, about four hundred men, and said unto them Shall I go against Ramoth-gilead, to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said Go up, that the Lord may deliver it into the hand of the king.

7. എന്നാല് യെഹോശാഫാത്ത്നാം അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ പ്രവാചകനായിട്ടു ഇവിടെ ഇനി ആരും ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

7. Then said Jehoshaphat, Is there not here a prophet of Yahweh, besides, that we may seek, from him?

8. അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടുനാം യഹോവയോടു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ഇനി യിമ്ളയുടെ മകനായ മീഖായാവു എന്നൊരുത്തന് ഉണ്ടു. എന്നാല് അവന് എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു ഗണമല്ല ദോഷം തന്നേ പ്രവചിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു എനിക്കു അവനോടു ഇഷ്ടമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. രാജാവു അങ്ങനെ പറയരുതേ എന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് പറഞ്ഞു.

8. And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Besides, is a certain man, by whom we might seek Yahweh, but, I, hate him, for he is never moved to prophesy concerning me anything good, only evil, Micaiah, son of Imlah. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

9. അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു ഒരു ഷണ്ഡനെ വിളിച്ചു, യിമ്ളയുടെ മകനായ മീഖായാവെ വേഗത്തില് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

9. Then the king of Israel called a certain courtier, and said, Hasten Micaiah son of Imlah.

10. യിസ്രായേല് രാജാവും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തും രാജവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു ശമര്യയുടെ പടിവാതില് പ്രവേശനത്തിങ്കല് ഒരു വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തു സിംഹാസനത്തില് ഇരുന്നു; പ്രവാചകന്മാര് ഒക്കെയും അവരുടെ സന്നിധിയില് പ്രവചിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

10. Now, the king of Israel, and Jehoshaphat king of Judah, were sitting each man upon his throne, having put on robes, in a level place, at the entrance of the gate of Samaria, and, all the prophets, were being moved to prophesy before them;

11. കെനയനയുടെ മകനായ സിദെക്കീയാവു തനിക്കു ഇരിമ്പു കൊണ്ടു കൊമ്പു ഉണ്ടാക്കിഇവകൊണ്ടു നീ അരാമ്യരെ അവര് ഒടുങ്ങുംവരെ കുത്തിക്കളയും എന്നിപ്രകാരം യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. when Zedekiah son of Chenaanah made himself horns of iron, and said Thus, saith Yahweh, With these, shalt thou push down the Syrians, until thou hast consumed them.

12. പ്രവാചകന്മാരൊക്കെയും അങ്ങനെ തന്നെ പ്രവചിച്ചുഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെടുക; നീ കൃതാര്ത്ഥനാകും; യഹോവ അതു രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. And, all the prophets, were being moved to prophesy, in like manner, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and thou shelf prosper, and Yahweh will deliver it, into the hand of the king.

13. മീഖായാവെ വിളിപ്പാന് പോയ ദൂതന് അവനോടുനോകൂ, പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ വാക്കുകള് ഒരുപോലെ രാജാവിന്നു ഗുണമായിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ വാക്കും അവരില് ഒരുത്തന്റേതുപോലെ ഇരിക്കേണം; നീയും ഗുണമായി പറയേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. Now, the messenger who went to call Micaiah, spake unto him, saying, Behold, I pray thee, the words of the prophets, with one mouth, are good, as touching the king, let thy word, I pray thee, be as the word of one of them, so wilt thou speak that which is good.

14. അതിന്നു മീഖായാവുയഹോവയാണ, യഹോവ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നതു തന്നേ ഞാന് പ്രസ്താവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. And Micaiah said, By the life of Yahweh, what Yahweh saith unto me, that, will I, speak.

15. അവന് രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നപ്പോള് രാജാവു അവനോടുമീഖായാവേ, ഞങ്ങള് ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോകയോ പോകാതിരിക്കയോ എന്തു വേണ്ടു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവന് പുറപ്പെടുവിന് ; നിങ്ങള് കൃതാര്ത്ഥരാകും; യഹോവ അതു രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. So he came unto the king, and the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he said unto him Go up and prosper, and Yahweh will deliver it into the hand of the king.

16. രാജാവു അവനോടുനീ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില് സത്യമല്ലാതെ യാതൊന്നും എന്നോടു പറയരുതെന്നും എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം ഞാന് നിന്നോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തു പറയേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

16. And the king said unto him, How many times must, I, adjure thee, that thou speak unto me nothing but truth, in the name of Yahweh?

17. അതിന്നു അവന് ഇടയനില്ലാത്ത ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ യിസ്രായേല് ഒക്കെയും പര്വ്വതങ്ങളില് ചിതറിയിരിക്കുന്നതു ഞാന് കണ്ടു; അപ്പോള് യഹോവഇവര്ക്കും നാഥനില്ല; അവര് ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു സമാധാനത്തോടെ മടങ്ങിപ്പോകട്ടെ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17. And he said I saw all Israel, scattered among the mountains, like sheep that have no shepherd, so Yahweh said, These have, no masters, let them return every man unto his own house, in peace.

18. അപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടുഇവന് എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു ദോഷമല്ലാതെ ഗുണം പ്രവചിക്കയില്ലെന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. Then said the king of Israel, unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not say unto thee, He will not be moved to prophesy concerning me anything good, only calamity.

19. അതിന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്നാല് നീ യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേള്ക്കയഹോവ തന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്നതും സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തിലെ സൈന്യം ഒക്കെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വലത്തും ഇടത്തും നിലക്കുന്നതും ഞാന് കണ്ടു.

19. Then he said, Therefore, hear thou the word of Yahweh, I saw Yahweh, sitting upon his throne, and all the host of the heavens, standing by him, on his right hand, and on his left.

20. ആഹാബ് ചെന്നു ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തില്വെച്ചു പട്ടുപോകത്തക്കവണ്ണം അവനെ ആര് വശീകരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു ഒരുത്തന് ഇങ്ങനെയും ഒരുത്തന് അങ്ങനെയും പറഞ്ഞു.

20. And Yahweh said, Who will persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall, at Ramoth-gilead? And, one, said in this manner, and, another, said in that manner.

21. എന്നാറെ ഒരു ആത്മാവു മുമ്പോട്ടു വന്നു യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് നിന്നുഞാന് അവനെ വശീകരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. Then came forth a spirit, and stood before Yahweh, and said I, will persuade him.

22. ഏതിനാല് എന്നു യഹോവ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവന് ഞാന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു അവന്റെ സകല പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെയും വായില് ഭോഷ്കിന്റെ ആത്മാവായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. നീ അവനെ വശീകരിക്കും, നിനക്കും സാധിക്കും; നീ ചെന്നു അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്ക എന്നു അവന് കല്പിച്ചു.

22. And Yahweh said unto him Wherewith? And he said I will go forth, and become a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of all his prophets, So he said, Thou mayest persuade, yea and prevail, go forth, and do so.

23. ആകയാല് ഇതാ, യഹോവ ഭോഷ്കിന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ നിന്റെ ഈ സകലപ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെയും വായില് കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവ നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു അനര്ത്ഥം കല്പിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

23. Now, therefore, lo! Yahweh hath suffered a spirit of falsehood to be put into the mouth of all these thy prophets. But, Yahweh himself, hath spoken concerning thee, calamity.

24. അപ്പോള് കെനയനയുടെ മകനായ സിദെക്കീയാവു അടുത്തുചെന്നു മീഖായാവിന്റെ ചെകിട്ടത്തു അടിച്ചുനിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്വാന് യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു എന്നെ വിട്ടു ഏതു വഴിയായി കടന്നുവന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

24. Then drew near Zedekiah, son of Chenaanah, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said Where then passed the Spirit of Yahweh, from me, to speak unto thee?

25. അതിന്നു മീഖായാവുനീ ഒളിപ്പാനായിട്ടു അറ തേടി നടക്കുന്ന ദിവസത്തില് നീ കാണും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

25. Then said Micaiah, Lo! thou art about to see, on that day, when thou enterest a chamber within a chamber, to hide thyself.

26. അപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു പറഞ്ഞതുമീഖായാവെ പിടിച്ചു നഗരാധിപതിയായ ആമോന്റെയും രാജകുമാരനായ യോവാശിന്റെയും അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു ഇവനെ കാരാഗൃഹത്തില് ആക്കി,

26. And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon captain of the city, and unto Joash son of the king;

27. ഞാന് സമാധാനത്തോടെ വരുവോളം ഞെരുക്കത്തിന്റെ അപ്പവും ഞെരുക്കത്തിന്റെ വെള്ളവും കൊടുത്തു പോഷിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവരോടു പറക.

27. and thou shalt say Thus, saith the king, Put this man into the prison, and let him eat the bread of oppression, with the water of oppression, until I enter in peace.

28. അതിന്നു മീഖായാവുനീ സമാധാനത്തോടെ മടങ്ങിവരുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കില് യഹോവ എന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. സകലജാതികളുമായുള്ളോരേ, കേട്ടുകൊള്വിന് എന്നും അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

28. Then said Micaiah, If thou, return, in peace, Yahweh hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hear, ye peoples, all of you!

29. അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തും ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു പോയി.

29. So the king of Israel went up, with Jehoshaphat king of Judah, unto Ramoth-gilead.

30. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടുഞാന് വേഷംമാറി പടയില് കടക്കും; നീയോ രാജവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചുകൊള്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു വോഷംമാറി പടയില് കടന്നു.

30. And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat I am about to disguise myself, and enter into the battle, thou, therefore, put on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself, and entered into the battle.

31. എന്നാല് അരാംരാജാവു തന്റെ മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു രഥനായകന്മാരോടുനിങ്ങള് യിസ്രായേല് രാജാവിനോടു മാത്രമല്ലാതെ ചെറിയവരോടോ വലിയവരോടോ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.

31. Now, the king of Syria, had commanded the captains of chariots which he had, thirty and two, saying, Ye shall not fight with small or great, save with the king of Israel alone.

32. ആകയാല് രഥനായകന്മാര് യെഹോശാഥാത്തിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോള്ഇവന് തന്നേ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനോടു പൊരുതുവാന് തിരിഞ്ഞു. എന്നാല് യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് നിലവിളിച്ചു.

32. And it came to pass, when the chariot-captains saw Jehoshaphat, that, they, said: Surely it is, the king of Israel! But, when they turned aside against him to fight, Jehoshaphat cried out.

33. അവന് യിസ്രായേല്രാജവല്ല എന്നു രഥനായകന്മാര് കണ്ടിട്ടു അവനെ വിട്ടുമാറി പോന്നു.

33. And it came to pass, when the chariot-captains saw that it was, not the king of Israel, that they turned back, from pursuing him.

34. എന്നാല് ഒരുത്തന് യദൃച്ഛയാ വില്ലു കുലെച്ചു യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിനെ കവചത്തിന്നും പതക്കത്തിന്നും ഇടെക്കു എയ്തു; അവന് തന്റെ സാരഥിയോടുനിന്റെ കൈ തിരിച്ചു എന്നെ പടയില് നിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോക; ഞാന് കഠിനമായി മുറിവേറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

34. But, a certain man, drawing a bow in his innocence, smote the king of Israel, between the shoulder-joints and the coat of mail, wherefore he said to his charioteer Turn thy hand, and convey me out of the host, for I am sore wounded.

35. അന്നു പട കഠിനമായി തീര്ന്നതുകൊണ്ടു രാജാവു അരാമ്യര്ക്കും എതിരെ രഥത്തില് നിവിര്ന്നുനിന്നു; സന്ധ്യാസമയത്തു അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയി. മുറിവില്നിന്നു രക്തം രഥത്തിന്നകത്തു ഒഴുകിയിരുന്നു.

35. But the battle increased that day, and, the king, was propped up in the chariot, before the Syrians, and died in the evening, and so the blood of the wound ran out into the hollow of the chariot.

36. സൂര്യന് അസ്തമിക്കുമ്പോള് ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കും താന്താന്റെ ദേശത്തേക്കും പോകട്ടെ എന്നു പാളയത്തില് ഒരു പരസ്യം പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

36. And a loud cry went through the host, at the going in of the sun, saying Every man to his own city! and every man to his own land!

37. അങ്ങനെ രാജാവു മരിച്ചു; അവനെ ശമര്യയിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവര് രാജാവിനെ ശമര്യയില് അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.

37. So the king died, and was brought into Samaria, and they buried the king, in Samaria.

38. രഥം ശമര്യയിലെ കുളത്തില് കഴുകിയപ്പോള് യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചിരുന്ന വചനപ്രകാരം നായ്ക്കള് അവന്റെ രക്തം നക്കി; വേശ്യാസ്ത്രീകളും അവിടെ കുളിച്ചു.

38. And, when the chariot was washed out at the pool of Samaria, the dogs lapped up his blood, also, the harlots, bathed there , according to the word of Yahweh which he had spoken.

39. ആഹാബിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന് ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അവന് ആനക്കൊമ്പുകൊണ്ടു പണിത അരമനയുടെയും അവന് പണിത എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളുടെയും വിവരവും യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

39. Now, the rest of the story of Ahab, and all that he did, and the house of ivory that he built, and all the cities that he built, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?

40. ആഹാബ് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവന്റെ മകനായ അഹസ്യാവു അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

40. So Ahab slept with his fathers, and, Ahaziah his son, reigned, in his stead.

41. ആസയുടെ മകനായ യഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ നാലാം ആണ്ടില് യെഹൂദയില് രാജാവായി.

41. Now, Jehoshaphat son of Asa, began to reign over Judah, in the fourth year of Ahab, king of Israel.

42. യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് വാഴ്ച തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് അവന്നു മുപ്പത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവന് ഇരുപത്തഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമില് വാണു; അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു അസൂബാ എന്നു പേര്; അവള് ശില്ഹിയുടെ മകള് ആയിരുന്നു.

42. Jehoshaphat, was thirty-five years old when he began to reign, and, twenty-five years, reigned he in Jerusalem, and, the name of his mother, was Azubah, daughter of Shilhi.

43. അവന് തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ആസയുടെ എല്ലാവഴിയിലും നടന്നു; അതു വിട്ടുമാറാതെ യഹോവേക്കു പ്രസാദമായതു ചെയ്തു. പൂജാഗിരികള്ക്കുമാത്രം നീക്കം വന്നില്ല; ജനം പൂജാഗിരികളില് യാഗം കഴിക്കയും ധൂപം കാട്ടുകയും ചെയ്തുപോന്നു.

43. And he walked in all the way of Asa his father, he turned not aside therefrom, doing that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh: nevertheless, the high places, were not taken away, still were the people offering sacrifices and burning incense in the high places.

44. യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിനോടു സഖ്യത ചെയ്തു.

44. And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.

45. യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന്റെ പരാക്രമപ്രവൃത്തികളും അവന് ചെയ്ത യുദ്ധവും യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

45. Now, the rest of the story of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he shewed, and how he warred, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?

46. തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ആസയുടെ കാലത്തു ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്ന പുരുഷമൈഥുനക്കാരെ അവന് ദേശത്തുനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

47. ആ കാലത്തു എദോമില് രാജാവില്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു ഒരു ദേശാധിപതി രാജസ്ഥാനം വഹിച്ചു.

48. ഔഫീരില് പൊന്നിന്നു പോകേണ്ടതിന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് തര്ശീശ് കപ്പലുകളെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി; എന്നാല് കപ്പലുകള് എസ്യോന് -ഗേബരല്വെച്ചു ഉടഞ്ഞുപോയതുകൊണ്ടു അവേക്കു പോകുവാന് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

48. Jehoshaphat, made ships of Tarshish, to go to Ophir, for gold; but they went not, for ships had been broken to pieces in Ezion-geber.

49. അന്നേരം ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ അഹസ്യാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടുഎന്റെ ദാസന്മാര് നിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരോടുകൂടെ കപ്പലുകളില് പോരട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാല് യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്നു മനസ്സില്ലായിരുന്നു.

49. Then, said Ahaziah son of Ahab, unto Jehoshaphat, Let, my servants, go with, thy servants, in the ships, but Jehoshaphat did not consent.

50. യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തില് അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു കൂടെ അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോരാം അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

50. So Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers, in the city of David his father, and, Jehoram his son, reigned, in his stead.

51. ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ അഹസ്യാവു യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ പതിനേഴാം ആണ്ടില് ശമര്യയില് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായി; യിസ്രായേലില് രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം വാണു.

51. Ahaziah son of Ahab, began to reign over Israel, in Samaria, in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned over Israel, two years.

52. അവന് തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വഴിയിലും അമ്മയുടെ വഴിയിലും യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ വഴിയിലും നടന്നു യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.

52. And he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, and went in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused, Israel, to sin.

53. അവന് ബാലിനെ സേവിച്ചു നമസ്കരിച്ചു; തന്റെ അപ്പന് ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചു.

53. Yea he served Baal, and bowed down to him, and provoked to anger Yahweh, God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.
