1. എലീശാപ്രവാചകന് ഒരു പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യനെ വിളിച്ചു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുനീ അരകെട്ടി ഈ തൈലപാത്രം എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു പോക.

1. And Eliseus the prophet called unto one of the children of the prophets, and said to him: gird up thy loins and take this box of oil in thine hand and get thee to Ramoth in Gilead.

2. അവിടെ എത്തിയശേഷം നിംശിയുടെ മകനായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ മകന് യേഹൂ എവിടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നോക്കി അകത്തു ചെന്നു അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ നടുവില്നിന്നു അവനെ എഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചു ഉള്മുറിയിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോക.

2. And when thou comest thither, thou shalt there see Jehu the son of Jehosaphat the son of Namsi and go to him, and make him arise up from among his brethren and carry him to a secret chamber.

3. പിന്നെ തൈലപാത്രം എടുത്തു അവന്റെ തലയില് ഒഴിച്ചുഞാന് നിന്നെ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായി അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു വാതില് തുറന്നു താമസിക്കാതെ ഔടിപ്പോരിക.

3. And take the box of oil and pour it on his head and say, thus sayeth the LORD: I have anointed thee to be king over Israel. And then open the door and flee, and tarry not.

4. അങ്ങനെ പ്രവാചകനായ ആ യൌവനക്കാരന് ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു പോയി.

4. And the servant of the prophet got him to Ramoth in Gilead,

5. അവന് അവിടെ എത്തിയപ്പോള് പടനായകന്മാര് മരുമിച്ചു ഇരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടുനായകാ, എനിക്കു നിന്നോടു ഒരു കാര്യം അറിയിപ്പാനുണ്ടു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഞങ്ങള് എല്ലാവരിലുംവെച്ചു ആരോടു എന്നു യേഹൂ ചോദിച്ചു. നിന്നോടു തന്നേ, നായകാ എന്നു അവന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

5. and when he came, the captains of the Host were sitting together. And he said: I have an errand to thee Sir captain. And Jehu said, unto which of all of us? And he said: to thee O captain.

6. അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു മുറിക്കകത്തു കടന്നു; അപ്പോള് അവന് തൈലം അവന്റെ തലയില് ഒഴിച്ചു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു; ഞാന് നിന്നെ യഹോവയുടെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

6. And he arose and went into the house. And the other poured the oil on his head and said to him, thus sayeth the LORD God of Israel: I have anointed thee to be king over Israel the people of the LORD,

7. എന്റെ ദാസന്മാരായ പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ രക്തത്തിന്നും യഹോവയുടെ സകലദാസന്മാരുടെയും രക്തത്തിന്നും ഈസേബെലിനോടു ഞാന് പ്രതികാരം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു നിന്റെ യജമാനനായ ആഹാബിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തെ നീ സംഹരിച്ചുകളയേണം.

7. that thou slay the household of Ahab thy master. For I (sayeth the LORD) will avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the LORD, of the hand of Jezabel

8. ആഹാബ്ഗൃഹം അശേഷം മുടിഞ്ഞുപോകേണം; യിസ്രായേലില് ആഹാബിന്നുള്ള സ്വതന്ത്രനും അസ്വതന്ത്രനുമായ പുരുഷപ്രജയെ ഒക്കെയും ഞാന് ഛേദിച്ചുകളയും.

8. (for the whole house of Ahab shall be destroyed) and I will destroy unto Ahab what pisseth against the wall, and so much as the prisoned or that is forsaken in Israel,

9. ഞാന് ആഹാബ്ഗൃഹത്തെ നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തെപ്പോലെയും അഹീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ ബയെശയുടെ ഗൃഹത്തെപ്പോലെയും ആക്കും.

9. and will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam son of Nabat, and like the house of Baasa the son of Ahiah.

10. ഈസേബെലിനെ യിസ്രെയേല് പ്രദേശത്തുവെച്ചു നായ്ക്കള് തിന്നുകളയും; അവളെ അടക്കം ചെയ്വാന് ആരും ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല. പിന്നെ അവന് വാതില് തുറന്നു ഔടിപ്പോയി.

10. And as for Jezabel the dogs shall eat her in the field of Jezrahel, and none shall bury her. And he opened the door and fled.

11. യേഹൂതന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തു വന്നപ്പോള് ഒരുത്തന് അവനോടുഎന്താകുന്നു വിശേഷം? ആ ഭ്രാന്തന് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നതെന്തിന്നു? എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് ആ പുരുഷനെയും അവന് പറഞ്ഞകാര്യത്തെയും അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. And when Jehu was come out to the servants of his lord, they said to him: is all peace? Wherefore came this mad fellow unto thee? And he said to him: ye know the person and his communication.

12. എന്നാറെ അവര്അതു നേരല്ല; നീ ഞങ്ങളോടു പറയേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു അവന് ഞാന് നിന്നെ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നാദിയായി ഇന്നിന്ന കാര്യങ്ങള് അവന് എന്നോടു സംസാരിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. And they said: it is not so. But tell us a fellowship. And he said, thus and thus spake he to me saying: Thus sayeth the LORD: I have anointed thee to be king over Israel.

13. ഉടനെ അവര് ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എടുത്തു കോവണിപ്പടികളിന്മേല് അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കല് വിരിച്ചു. കാഹളം ഊതിയേഹൂ രാജാവായി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. And they hasted and took every man his mantle and put under him on an high bench at the top of the steps, and blew a trumpet and said: Jehu is king.

14. അങ്ങനെ നിംശിയുടെ മകനായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ മകന് യേഹൂ യോരാമിന്നു വിരോധമായി കൂട്ടുകെട്ടുണ്ടാക്കി. യോരാമും എല്ലായിസ്രായേലും അരാംരാജാവായ ഹസായേല്നിമിത്തം ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിനെ കാവല് ആക്കി സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്നു.

14. And so Jehu the son of Jehosaphat the son of Namsi conspired against Jehoram. And Jehoram had been waiting at Ramoth Gilead, and all Israel with him for fear of Hazael king of Siria,

15. അരാംരാജാവായ ഹസായേലിനോടുള്ള യുദ്ധത്തില് അരാമ്യര് തനിക്കു ഏല്പിച്ച മുറിവുകള്ക്കു യിസ്രെയേലില്വെച്ചു ചികിത്സചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു യോരാംരാജാവു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നിരുന്നു. എന്നാല് യേഹൂനിങ്ങള്ക്കു സമ്മതമെങ്കില് യിസ്രെയേലില് ചെന്നു ഇതു അറിയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആരും പട്ടണം വിട്ടുപോകാതെ സൂക്ഷിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. and was returned to be healed in Jezrahel, of the wounds which the Sirians had given him as he fought with Hazael king of Siria. Then said Jehu: If it be your minds, then let no man escape out of the city, to go and tell in Jezrahel.

16. അങ്ങനെ യേഹൂ രഥം കയറി യിസ്രെയേലിലേക്കു പോയി; യോരാം അവിടെ കിടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. യോരാമിനെ കാണ്മാന് യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അഹസ്യാവും അവിടെ വന്നിരുന്നു.

16. And Jehu rode and went to Jezrahel: for Jehoram lay there, and Ohoziah king of Juda was come to Jehoram.

17. യിസ്രെയേലിലെ ഗോപുരമുകളില് ഒരു കാവല്ക്കാരന് നിന്നിരുന്നു; അവന് യേവഹൂവിന്റെ കൂട്ടം വരുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടുഞാന് ഒരു കൂട്ടത്തെ കാണുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള് യോരാംനീ ഒരു കുതിരച്ചേവകനെ വിളിച്ചു അവരുടെ നേരെ അയക്കേണം; അവന് ചെന്നുസമാധാനമോ എന്നു ചോദിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

17. And the watchmen that stood on the tower in Jezrahel spied the company of Jehu as he came, and said: I see a company. And Jehoram said: take an horseman and send against them, and let him ask whether it be peace.

18. അങ്ങനെ ഒരുത്തന് കുതിരപ്പുറത്തു കയറി അവനെ എതിരേറ്റു ചെന്നുസമാധാനമോ എന്നു രാജാവു ചോദിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. സമാധാനം കൊണ്ടു നിനക്കു എന്തു കാര്യം? തിരിഞ്ഞു എന്റെ പുറകില് വരിക എന്നു യേഹൂ പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള് കാവല്ക്കാരന് ദൂതന് അവരുടെ അടുക്കലോളം ചെന്നിട്ടും മടങ്ങിവരുന്നില്ല എന്നു അറിയിച്ചു.

18. And there went one on horseback against him and said: thus sayeth the king: is it peace? And Jehu answered: what hast thou to do with peace? turn and come after me. And the watchman told saying: the messenger came to them but he cometh not again.

19. അവന് മറ്റൊരുത്തനെ കുതിരപ്പുറത്തു അയച്ചു; അവനും അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നുസമാധാനമോ എന്നു രാജാവു ചോദിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. സമാധാനംകൊണ്ടു നിനക്കു എന്തു കാര്യം? തിരിഞ്ഞു എന്റെ പുറകില് വരിക എന്നു യേഹൂ പറഞ്ഞു.

19. Then he sent out another on horseback, which came to them and said, thus sayeth the king: is it peace? And Jehu answered, what hast thou to do with peace? turn and come after me.

20. അപ്പോള് കാവല്ക്കാരന് അവനും അവരുടെ അടുക്കലോളം ചെന്നിട്ടു മടങ്ങിവരുന്നില്ല; ആ ഔടിക്കുന്നതു നിംശിയുടെ മകനായ യേഹൂ ഔടിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; ഭ്രന്തനപ്പോലെയല്ലോ അവന് ഔടിച്ചുവരുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. And the watchman told saying: he came to them, but he cometh not again, and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Namsi, for he driveth as he were mad.

21. ഉടനെ യോരാംരഥം പൂട്ടുക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; രഥം പൂട്ടിയശേഷം യിസ്രായേല് രാജാവായ യോരാമും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അഹസ്യാവും താന്താന്റെ രഥത്തില് കയറി യേഹൂവിന്റെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു, യിസ്രെയേല്യനായ നാബോത്തിന്റെ നിലത്തിങ്കല്വെച്ചു അവനെ എതിരേറ്റു.

21. Then said Jehoram, make ready. And they made ready his chariot. And Jehoram king of Israel, and Ohoziah king of Juda went out either in his chariot against Jehu, and met him in the furlong of Naboth the Jezrahelite.

22. യേഹൂവിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോള് യോരാംയേഹൂവേ, സമാധാനമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു യേഹൂനിന്റെ അമ്മയായ ഈസേബെലിന്റെ പരസംഗവും ക്ഷുദ്രവും ഇത്ര അധികമായിരിക്കുന്നേടത്തോളം എന്തു സമാധാനം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. And when Jehoram saw Jehu, he said: is it peace Jehu? And he said, what peace should there be, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezabel and her witchcrafts are so great?

23. അപ്പോള് യോരാം രഥം തിരിച്ചു ഔടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു അഹസ്യാവോടുഅഹസ്യാവേ, ഇതു ദ്രോഹം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

23. And Jehoram turned his hand and fled, and said to Ohoziah: there is falsehood(treason) Ohoziah.

24. യേഹൂ വില്ലുകുലെച്ചു യോരാമിനെ ഭുജങ്ങളുടെ നടുവെ എയ്തു; അമ്പു അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം തുളഞ്ഞു മറുപുറം കടന്നു; അവന് രഥത്തില് ചുരുണ്ടു വീണു.

24. And Jehu took a bow in his hand and smote Jehoram between the shoulders, that the arrow came out at his breast. And he fell down three fold in his chariot.

25. യേഹൂ തന്റെ പടനായകനായ ബിദ്കാരോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഅവനെ എടുത്തു യിസ്രെയേല്യനായ നാബോത്തിന്റെ നിലത്തില് എറിഞ്ഞുകളക; ഞാനും നീയും ഒരുമിച്ചു അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ ആഹാബിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ കുതിരയേറി പോകുമ്പോള്

25. Then he said to Badakar a lord of his, take and cast him in the plat of ground of Naboth the Jezrahelite. For I remember as I and thou rode together after Ahab his father, how the LORD spake these words against him:

26. നാബോത്തിന്റെ രക്തവും അവന്റെ മക്കളുടെ രക്തവും ഇന്നലെ ഞാന് കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു സത്യം എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു; ഈ നിലത്തുവെച്ചു ഞാന് നിനക്കു പകരം വീട്ടുമെന്നും യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നിങ്ങനെ യഹോവയുടെ ഈ അരുപ്പാടു അവന്നു വിരോധമായി ഉണ്ടായെന്നു ഔര്ത്തുകൊള്ക; അവനെ എടുത്തു യഹോവയുടെ വചന പ്രകാരം തന്നേ ഈ നിലത്തില് എറിഞ്ഞുകളക.

26. I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth and of his sons, said the LORD, and I will quite him in this ground, sayeth the LORD. Now therefore take him and cast him in the plat of ground according to the word of the LORD.

27. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അഹസ്യാവു ഇതു കണ്ടിട്ടു ഉദ്യാനഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ വഴിയായി ഔടിപ്പോയി. യേഹൂ അവനെ പിന്തുടര്ന്നുഅവനെയും രഥത്തില് വെട്ടിക്കളവിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അവര് യിബ്ളെയാമിന്നു സമീപത്തുള്ള ഗൂര്കയറ്റത്തിങ്കല്വെച്ചു അവനെ വെട്ടി; അവന് മെഗിദ്ദോവിലേക്കു ഔടിച്ചെന്നു അവിടെവെച്ചു മരിച്ചുപോയി.

27. And when Ohoziah the king of Juda saw that, he fled the way to the garden house. And Jehu followed after him and said: smite him also. And they smote him in his chariot at the going up to Sur by Jeblaam, and he fled to Magedo and there died.

28. അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാര് അവനെ രഥത്തില്വെച്ചു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു കെണ്ടുപോയി ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തില് അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടുകൂടെ അവന്റെ കല്ലറയില് അവനെ അടക്കംചെയ്തു.

28. And his servants carried him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his sepulchre with his fathers in the city of David.

29. ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോരാമിന്റെ പതിനൊന്നാം ആണ്ടില് ആയിരുന്നു അഹസ്യാവു യെഹൂദയില് രാജാവായതു.

29. And in the eleventh year of Jehoram son of David, began Ohoziah to reign over Juda.

30. യേഹൂ യിസ്രായേലില് വന്നതു ഈസേബെല് കേട്ടിട്ടു തന്റെ കണ്ണില് മഷിയെഴുതി തലചീകി മിനുക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു കിളിവാതില്ക്കല്കൂടി നോക്കി.

30. And when Jehu was come to Jezrahel, Jezabel heard of it, and starched her eyes and tired her head and looked out at a window.

31. യേഹൂ പടിവാതില് കടന്നപ്പോള് അവള്യജമാനനെ കൊന്നവനായ സിമ്രിക്കു സമാധാനമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

31. And as Jehu entered at the gate she said: had Zamri peace which slew his master?

32. അവന് തന്റെ മുഖം കിളിവാതില്ക്കലേക്കു ഉയര്ത്തിആരുള്ളു എന്റെ പക്ഷത്തു? ആരുള്ളു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. എന്നാറെ രണ്ടുമൂന്നു ഷണ്ഡന്മാര് പുറത്തേക്കു നോക്കി.

32. And he lifted up his eyes to the window and said, who is of my side who? And there looked out to him two or three lords that were chamberlains.

33. അവളെ താഴെ തള്ളിയിടുവിന് എന്നു അവന് കല്പിച്ചു. ഉടനെ അവര് അവളെ താഴെ തള്ളിയിട്ടു; അവളുടെ രക്തം ചുവരിന്മേലും കുതിരകളിന്മേലും തെറിച്ചു; അവന് അവളെ ചവിട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

33. And he said: Throw her down. And they threw her down. And he sprinkled of her blood upon the walls and on the horses, and trod her under foot.

34. അവന് ചെന്നു ഭക്ഷിച്ചു പാനം ചെയ്തശേഷംആ ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവളെ ചെന്നു നോക്കി അടക്കം ചെയ്വിന് ; അവള് രാജകുമാരിയല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

34. And then when he was come in and had eaten and drunk, he said: go and visit I pray you, yonder cursed creature, and bury her, for she is a king's daughter.

35. അവര് അവളെ അടക്കം ചെയ്വാന് ചെന്നാറെ അവളുടെ തലമണ്ടയും കാലുകളും കൈപ്പത്തികളും അല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊന്നും കണ്ടില്ല.

35. And when they came to bury her, they found no more of her, than the skull and the two feet and the two hands.

36. അവര് മടങ്ങിവന്നു അവനോടു അതു അറിയിച്ചു. അപ്പോള് അവന് യിസ്രെയേല് പ്രദേശത്തുവെച്ചു നായ്ക്കള് ഈസേബെലിന്റെ മാംസം തിന്നുകളയും;

36. And they came again and told him. And he said: it is the word of the LORD which he spake by the hand of his servant Eliah the Thesbite saying: in the field of Jezrahel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezabel,

37. അതു ഈസേബെല് എന്നു പറവാന് കഴിയാതവണ്ണം ഈസേബെലിന്റെ പിണം യിസ്രെയേല്പ്രദേശത്തു വയലിലെ ചാണകം പോലെ ആകും എന്നിങ്ങനെ യഹോവ തിശ്ബ്യനായ എലീയാവു എന്ന തന്റെ ദാസന് മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനം തന്നേ ഇതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

37. and the carcass of Jezabel shall be dung upon the earth, in the field of Jezrahel, that men shall not say, this is Jezabel.
