1. അമസ്യാവു വാഴ്ചതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് അവന്നു ഇരുപത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു. അവന് ഇരുപത്തൊമ്പതു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമില് വാണു. അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു യെഹോവദ്ദാന് എന്നു പേര്; അവള് യെരൂശലേംകാരത്തിയായിരുന്നു.

1. Amaziah [was] twenty-five years old [when] he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name [was] Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

2. അവന് യഹോവേക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു; ഏകാഗ്രഹൃദയത്തോടെ അല്ലതാനും.

2. And he did [what was] right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a loyal heart.

3. രാജത്വം അവന്നു ഉറെച്ചശേഷം അവന് തന്റെ അപ്പനായ രാജാവിനെ കൊന്ന തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാര്ക്കും മരണശിക്ഷ നടത്തി.

3. Now it happened, as soon as the kingdom was established for him, that he executed his servants who had murdered his father the king.

4. എങ്കിലും അവരുടെ പുത്രന്മാരെ അവന് കൊല്ലിച്ചില്ല; അപ്പന്മാര് പുത്രന്മാരുടെ നിമിത്തം മരിക്കരുതു; പുത്രന്മാര് അപ്പന്മാരുടെ നിമിത്തവും മരിക്കരുതു; ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ സ്വന്തപാപം നിമിത്തമേ മരിക്കാവു എന്നു യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതായി മോശെയുടെ പുസ്തകത്തിലെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു പോലെ തന്നേ.

4. However he did not execute their children, but [did] as [it is] written in the Law in the Book of Moses, where the LORD commanded, saying, 'The fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall the children be put to death for their fathers; but a person shall die for his own sin.'

5. എന്നാല് അമസ്യാവു യെഹൂദയെ കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി; എല്ലായെഹൂദയും ബെന്യാമീനുമായ അവരെ സഹസ്രാധിപന്മാര്ക്കും ശതാധിപന്മാര്ക്കും കീഴെ പിതൃഭവനം പിതൃഭവനമായി നിര്ത്തി. ഇരുപതു വയസ്സുമുതല് മേലോട്ടുള്ളവരെ എണ്ണി, കുന്തവും പരിചയും എടുപ്പാന് പ്രാപ്തിയുള്ള ശ്രേഷ്ഠയോദ്ധാക്കള് മൂന്നു ലക്ഷം എന്നു കണ്ടു.

5. Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together and set over them captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, according to [their] fathers' houses, throughout all Judah and Benjamin; and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them to be three hundred thousand choice [men, able] to go to war, who could handle spear and shield.

6. അവന് യിസ്രായേലില്നിന്നും ഒരു ലക്ഷം പരാക്രമശാലികളെ നൂറു താലന്ത് വെള്ളി കൊടുത്തു കൂലിക്കു വാങ്ങി.

6. He also hired one hundred thousand mighty men of valor from Israel for one hundred talents of silver.

7. എന്നാല് ഒരു ദൈവപുരുഷന് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുരാജാവേ, യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ സൈന്യം നിന്നോടുകൂടെ പോരരുതു; യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിനോടു കൂടെ, എല്ലാ എഫ്രയീമ്യരോടുംകൂടെ തന്നേ ഇല്ല.

7. But a man of God came to him, saying, 'O king, do not let the army of Israel go with you, for the LORD [is] not with Israel -- [not with] any of the children of Ephraim.

8. നീ തന്നേ ചെന്നു യുദ്ധത്തില് ധൈര്യം കാണിക്ക; അല്ലാത്തപക്ഷം ദൈവം നിന്നെ ശത്രുവിന്റെ മുമ്പില് വീഴിച്ചേക്കാം; സഹായിപ്പാനും വീഴിപ്പാനും ദൈവത്തിന്നു ശക്തിയുണ്ടല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. 'But if you go, be gone! Be strong in battle! [Even so,] God shall make you fall before the enemy; for God has power to help and to overthrow.'

9. അമസ്യാവു ദൈവപുരുഷനോടുഎന്നാല് ഞാന് യിസ്രായേല്പടക്കൂട്ടത്തിന്നു കൊടുത്ത നൂറു താലന്തിന്നു എന്തു ചെയ്യേണ്ടു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു ദൈവപുരുഷന് അതിനെക്കാള് അധികം നിനക്കു തരുവാന് യഹോവേക്കു കഴിയും എന്നുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

9. Then Amaziah said to the man of God, 'But what [shall we] do about the hundred talents which I have given to the troops of Israel?' And the man of God answered, 'The LORD is able to give you much more than this.'

10. അങ്ങനെ അമസ്യാവു അവരെ, എഫ്രയീമില്നിന്നു അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്ന പടക്കൂട്ടത്തെ തന്നേ, അവരുടെ നാട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകേണ്ടതിന്നു വേര്തിരിച്ചു; അവരുടെ കോപം യെഹൂദെക്കു നേരെ ഏറ്റവും ജ്വലിച്ചു; അവര് അതികോപത്തോടെ തങ്ങളുടെ നാട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

10. So Amaziah discharged the troops that had come to him from Ephraim, to go back home. Therefore their anger was greatly aroused against Judah, and they returned home in great anger.

11. അനന്തരം അമസ്യാവു ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടു തന്റെ പടജ്ജനത്തെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു ഉപ്പുതാഴ്വരയില് ചെന്നു സേയീര്യ്യരില് പതിനായിരംപേരെ നിഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

11. Then Amaziah strengthened himself, and leading his people, he went to the Valley of Salt and killed ten thousand of the people of Seir.

12. വേറെ പതിനായിരംപേരെ യെഹൂദ്യര് ജീവനോടെ പിടിച്ചു പാറമുകളില് കൊണ്ടുപോയി പാറമുകളില്നിന്നു തള്ളിയിട്ടു; അവരെല്ലാവരും തകര്ന്നുപോയി.

12. Also the children of Judah took captive ten thousand alive, brought them to the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, so that they all were dashed in pieces.

13. എന്നാല് തന്നോടുകൂടെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോരാതെയിരിപ്പാന് അമസ്യാവു മടക്കി അയച്ചിരുന്ന പടക്കൂട്ടത്തിലെ ആളുകള് ശമര്യ്യമുതല് ബേത്ത്-ഹോരോന് വരെയുള്ള യെഹൂദാനഗരങ്ങളെ ആക്രമിച്ചു മൂവായിരം ആളുകളെ കൊന്നു വളരെ കൊള്ളയിട്ടു.

13. But as for the soldiers of the army which Amaziah had discharged, so that they would not go with him to battle, they raided the cities of Judah from Samaria to Beth Horon, killed three thousand in them, and took much spoil.

14. എന്നാല് അമസ്യാവു എദോമ്യരെ സംഹരിച്ചു മടങ്ങിവന്നശേഷം അവന് സേയീര്യ്യരുടെ ദേവന്മാരെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അവയെ തനിക്കു ദേവന്മാരായി നിര്ത്തി അവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നമസ്കരിക്കയും അവേക്കു ധൂപം കാട്ടുകയും ചെയ്തു.

14. Now it was so, after Amaziah came from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the people of Seir, set them up [to be] his gods, and bowed down before them and burned incense to them.

15. അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവയുടെ കോപം അമസ്യാവിന്റെ നേരെ ജ്വലിച്ചു അവന് ഒരു പ്രവാചകനെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചു; നിന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ സ്വന്തജനത്തെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന് കഴിയാത്ത ജാതികളുടെ ദേവന്മാരെ നീ അന്വേഷിച്ചതു എന്തു എന്നു അവനോടു പറയിച്ചു.

15. Therefore the anger of the LORD was aroused against Amaziah, and He sent him a prophet who said to him, 'Why have you sought the gods of the people, which could not rescue their own people from your hand?'

16. അവന് സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് രാജാവു അവനോടുഞങ്ങള് നിന്നെ രാജാവിന്നു മന്ത്രിയാക്കി വെച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ? മതി; നീ വെറുതെ വെട്ടുകൊണ്ടു ചാകുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ പ്രവാചകന് മതിയാക്കിനീ എന്റെ ആലോചന കേള്ക്കാതെ ഇതു ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു ദൈവം നിന്നെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാന് നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. So it was, as he talked with him, that [the king] said to him, 'Have we made you the king's counselor? Cease! Why should you be killed?' Then the prophet ceased, and said, 'I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not heeded my advice.'

17. അനന്തരം യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അമസ്യാവു ആലോചന കഴിച്ചിട്ടു യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായി യേഹൂവിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോവാഹാസിന്റെ മകന് യോവാശിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചുവരിക, നാം തമ്മില് ഒന്നു നോക്കുക എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

17. Now Amaziah king of Judah asked advice and sent to Joash the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, 'Come, let us face one another [in battle.']

18. അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ യോവാശ് യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അമസ്യാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് പറഞ്ഞയച്ചതെന്തെന്നാല്ലെബാനോനിലെ മുള്പടര്പ്പു ലെബാനോനിലെ ദേവദാരുവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചുനിന്റെ മകളെ എന്റെ മകന്നു ഭാര്യയായി തരിക എന്നു പറയിച്ചു; എന്നാല് ലെബാനോനിലെ ഒരു കാട്ടുമൃഗം കടന്നുചെന്നു മുള്പടര്പ്പിനെ ചവിട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

18. And Joash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, 'The thistle that [was] in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, 'Give your daughter to my son as wife'; and a wild beast that [was] in Lebanon passed by and trampled the thistle.

19. എദോമ്യരെ തോല്പിച്ചു എന്നു നീ വിചാരിക്കുന്നു; വമ്പുപറവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം നിന്റെ മനസ്സു നിഗളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; വീട്ടില് അടങ്ങി പാര്ത്തുകൊള്ക; നീയും യെഹൂദയും വീഴുവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അനര്ത്ഥത്തില് ഇടപെടുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു?

19. 'Indeed you say that you have defeated the Edomites, and your heart is lifted up to boast. Stay at home now; why should you meddle with trouble, that you should fall -- you and Judah with you?'

20. എന്നാല് അമസ്യാവു കേട്ടില്ല; അവര് എദോമ്യദേവന്മാരെ ആശ്രയിക്കകൊണ്ടു അവരെ ശത്രുവിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അതു ദൈവഹിതത്താല് സംഭവിച്ചു.

20. But Amaziah would not heed, for it [came] from God, that He might give them into the hand [of their enemies,] because they sought the gods of Edom.

21. അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ യോവാശ് പുറപ്പെട്ടുചെന്നു; അവനും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അമസ്യാവും യെഹൂദെക്കുള്ള ബേത്ത്-ശേമെശില്വെച്ചു തമ്മില് നേരിട്ടു.

21. So Joash king of Israel went out; and he and Amaziah king of Judah faced one another at Beth Shemesh, which [belongs] to Judah.

22. യെഹൂദാ യിസ്രായേലിനോടു തോറ്റു ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ കൂടാരത്തിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി.

22. And Judah was defeated by Israel, and every man fled to his tent.

23. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ യോവാശ്, യെഹോവാഹാസിന്റെ മകനായ യോവാശിന്റെ മകനായി, യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അമസ്യാവെ ബേത്ത്-ശെമെശില്വെച്ചു പിടിച്ചു യെരൂശലേമില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ മതില് എഫ്രയീമിന്റെ പടിവാതില്മുതല് കോണ്പടിവാതില്വരെ നാനൂറുമുഴം ഇടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

23. Then Joash the king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, at Beth Shemesh; and he brought him to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Gate of Ephraim to the Corner Gate -- four hundred cubits.

24. അവന് ദൈവാലയത്തില് ഔബേദ്-എദോമിന്റെ പക്കല് കണ്ട എല്ലാപൊന്നും വെള്ളിയും സകലപാത്രങ്ങളും രാജധാനിയിലെ ഭണ്ഡാരവും എടുത്തു ജാമ്യക്കാരെയും പിടിച്ചു ശമര്യ്യയിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

24. And [he took] all the gold and silver, all the articles that were found in the house of God with Obed-Edom, the treasures of the king's house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.

25. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ യെഹോവാഹാസിന്റെ മകന് യോവാശ് മരിച്ചശേഷം യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യോവാശിന്റെ മകന് അമസ്യാവു പതിനഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു.

25. Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, lived fifteen years after the death of Joash the son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel.

26. എന്നാല് അമസ്യാവിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ളവൃത്താന്തങ്ങള് ആദ്യാവസാനം യെഹൂദയിലെയും യിസ്രായേലിലെയും രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ പുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

26. Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, from first to last, indeed [are] they not written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel?

27. അമസ്യാവു യഹോവയെ വിട്ടുമാറിയ കാലംമുതല് അവര് യെരൂശലേമില് അവന്റെ നേരെ കൂട്ടുകെട്ടുണ്ടാക്കി; അതുനിമിത്തം അവന് ലാഖീശിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയിഎന്നാല് അവര് ലാഖീശിലേക്കു അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ആളയച്ചു അവിടെവെച്ചു അവനെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

27. After the time that Amaziah turned away from following the LORD, they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish and killed him there.

28. അവനെ കുതിരപ്പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു യെഹൂദയുടെ മൂലനഗരത്തില് അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.

28. Then they brought him on horses and buried him with his fathers in the City of Judah.
