1. സര്വ്വശക്തന് ശിക്ഷാസമയങ്ങളെ നിയമിക്കാത്തതും അവന്റെ ഭക്തന്മാര് അവന്റെ വിസ്താര ദിവസങ്ങളെ കാണാതിരിക്കുന്നതും എന്തു?

1. 'Why are times not appointed by the Almighty? Why do those who know him not see his days?

2. ചിലര് അതിരുകളെ മാറ്റുന്നു; ചിലര് ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടത്തെ കവര്ന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോയി മേയക്കുന്നു.

2. Men move boundary stones; they seize the flock and pasture them.

3. ചിലര് അനാഥന്മാരുടെ കഴുതയെ കൊണ്ടു പൊയ്ക്കളയുന്നു; ചിലര് വിധവയുടെ കാളയെ പണയംവാങ്ങുന്നു.

3. They drive away the orphan's donkey; they take the widow's ox as a pledge.

4. ചിലര് സാധുക്കളെ വഴി തെറ്റിക്കുന്നു; ദേശത്തെ എളിയവര് ഒരുപോലെ ഒളിച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നു.

4. They turn the needy from the pathway, and the poor of the land hide themselves together.

5. അവര് മരുഭൂമിയിലെ കാട്ടുകഴുതകളെപ്പോലെ ഇര തേടി വേലെക്കു പുറപ്പെടുന്നു; ശൂന്യപ്രദേശം മക്കള്ക്കു വേണ്ടി അവര്ക്കും ആഹാരം.

5. Like wild donkeys in the desert they go out to their labor, seeking diligently for food; the wasteland provides food for them and for their children.

6. അവര് വയലില് അന്യന്റെ പയറ് പറിക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തില് കാലാ പെറുക്കുന്നു.

6. They reap fodder in the field, and glean in the vineyard of the wicked.

7. അവര് വസ്ത്രമില്ലാതെ നഗ്നരായി രാത്രി കഴിച്ചുകൂട്ടുന്നു; കുളിരില് അവര്ക്കും പുതപ്പും ഇല്ല.

7. They spend the night naked because they lack clothing; they have no covering against the cold.

8. അവര് മലകളില് മഴ നനയുന്നു; മറവിടം ഇല്ലായ്കയാല് അവര് പാറയെ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നു.

8. They are soaked by mountain rains and huddle in the rocks because they lack shelter.

9. ചിലര് മുലകുടിക്കുന്ന അനാഥകൂട്ടികളെ അപഹരിക്കുന്നു; ചിലര് ദരിദ്രനോടു പണയം വാങ്ങുന്നു.

9. The fatherless child is snatched from the breast, the infant of the poor is taken as a pledge.

10. അവര് വസ്ത്രം കൂടാതെ നഗ്നരായി നടക്കുന്നു; പട്ടിണി കിടന്നുകൊണ്ടു കറ്റ ചുമക്കുന്നു.

10. They go about naked, without clothing, and go hungry while they carry the sheaves.

11. അന്യരുടെ മതിലുകള്ക്കകത്തു അവര് ചക്കാട്ടുന്നു; മുന്തരിച്ചകൂ ചവിട്ടുകയും ദാഹിച്ചിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

11. They press out the olive oil between the rows of olive trees; they tread the winepresses while they are thirsty.

12. പട്ടണത്തില് ആളുകള് ഞരങ്ങുന്നു; പട്ടുപോയവരുടെ പ്രാണന് നിലവിളിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്നോ അതില് നീരസം തോന്നുന്നില്ല.

12. From the city the dying groan, and the wounded cry out for help, but God charges no one with wrongdoing.

13. ഇവര് വെളിച്ചത്തോടു മത്സരിക്കുന്നു; അതിന്റെ വഴികളെ അറിയുന്നില്ല; അതിന്റെ പാതകളില് നടക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

13. There are those who rebel against the light; they do not know its ways and they do not stay on its paths.

14. കുലപാതകന് രാവിലെ എഴുന്നേലക്കുന്നു; ദരിദ്രനെയും എളിയവനെയും കൊല്ലുന്നു; രാത്രിയില് കള്ളനായി നടക്കുന്നു.

14. Before daybreak the murderer rises up; he kills the poor and the needy; in the night he is like a thief.

15. വ്യഭിചാരിയുടെ കണ്ണു അസ്തമാനം കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് മുഖം മറെച്ചു നടന്നു ഒരു കണ്ണും എന്നെ കാണുകയില്ല എന്നു പറയുന്നു.

15. And the eye of the adulterer watches for the twilight, thinking, 'No eye can see me,' and covers his face with a mask.

16. ചിലര് ഇരുട്ടത്തു വീടു തുരന്നു കയറുന്നു; പകല് അവര് വാതില് അടെച്ചു പാര്ക്കുംന്നു; വെളിച്ചത്തു ഇറങ്ങുന്നതുമില്ല.

16. In the dark the robber breaks into houses, but by day they shut themselves in; they do not know the light.

17. പ്രഭാതം അവര്ക്കൊക്കെയും അന്ധതമസ്സു തന്നേ; അന്ധതമസ്സിന്റെ ഘോരത്വങ്ങള് അവര്ക്കും പരിചയമുണ്ടല്ലോ.

17. For all of them, the morning is to them like deep darkness; they are friends with the terrors of darkness.

18. വെള്ളത്തിന്മേല് അവര് വേഗത്തില് പൊയ്പോകുന്നു; അവരുടെ ഔഹരി ഭൂമിയില് ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടങ്ങളുടെ വഴിക്കു അവര് തിരിയുന്നില്ല.

18. 'You say, 'He is foam on the face of the waters; their portion of the land is cursed so that no one goes to their vineyard.

19. ഹിമജലം വരള്ച്ചെക്കും ഉഷ്ണത്തിന്നും പാപം ചെയ്തവന് പാതാളത്തിന്നും ഇരയാകുന്നു.

19. The drought as well as the heat carry away the melted snow; so the grave takes away those who have sinned.

20. ഗര്ഭപാത്രം അവനെ മറന്നുകളയും; കൃമി അവനെ തിന്നു രസിക്കും; പിന്നെ ആരും അവനെ ഔര്ക്കയില്ല; നീതികേടു ഒരു വൃക്ഷംപോലെ തകര്ന്നു പോകും.

20. The womb forgets him, the worm feasts on him, no longer will he be remembered. Like a tree, wickedness will be broken down.

21. പ്രസവിക്കാത്ത മച്ചിയെ അവന് വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളയുന്നു; വിധവേക്കു നന്മ ചെയ്യുന്നതുമില്ല.

21. He preys on the barren and childless woman, and does not treat the widow well.

22. അവന് തന്റെ ശക്തിയാല് നിഷ്കണ്ടകന്മാരെ നിലനിലക്കുമാറാക്കുന്നു; ജീവനെക്കുറിച്ചു നിരാശപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കെ അവര് എഴുന്നേലക്കുന്നു.

22. But God drags off the mighty by his power; when God rises up against him, he has no faith in his life.

23. അവന് അവര്ക്കും നിര്ഭയവാസം നലകുന്നു; അവര് ഉറെച്ചുനിലക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും അവന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടി അവരുടെ വഴികളിന്മേല് ഉണ്ടു.

23. God may let them rest in a feeling of security, but he is constantly watching all their ways.

24. അവര് ഉയര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; കുറെകഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടോ അവര് ഇല്ല; അവരെ താഴ്ത്തി മറ്റെല്ലാവരെയുംപോലെ നീക്കിക്കളയുന്നു; കതിരുകളുടെ തലപോലെ അവരെ അറുക്കുന്നു.

24. They are exalted for a little while, and then they are gone, they are brought low like all others, and gathered in, and like a head of grain they are cut off.'

25. ഇങ്ങനെയല്ലെങ്കില് എന്നെ കള്ളനാക്കുകയും എന്റെ വാക്കു ഖണ്ഡിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ആര്?

25. 'If this is not so, who can prove me a liar and reduce my words to nothing?'
