1. ദൈവമേ, നിന്റെ ദയെക്കു തക്കവണ്ണം എന്നോടു കൃപയുണ്ടാകേണമേ; നിന്റെ കരുണയുടെ ബഹുത്വപ്രകാരം എന്റെ ലംഘനങ്ങളെ മായിച്ചുകളയേണമേ.

1. To the Chief Musician. A Melody of David. When Nathan the Prophet had come to him, after he had gone in unto Bath-sheba. Be favorable unto me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness, And, in the multitude of thy compassions, blot out my transgressions;

2. എന്നെ നന്നായി കഴുകി എന്റെ അകൃത്യം പോക്കേണമേ; എന്റെ പാപം നീക്കി എന്നെ വെടിപ്പാക്കേണമേ.

2. Thoroughly wash me from mine iniquity, And, from my sin, make me pure;

3. എന്റെ ലംഘനങ്ങളെ ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു; എന്റെ പാപം എപ്പോഴും എന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

3. For, my transgressions, do, I, acknowledge, And, my sin, is before me continually:

4. നിന്നോടു തന്നേ ഞാന് പാപം ചെയ്തു; നിനക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ഞാന് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. സംസാരിക്കുമ്പോള് നീ നീതിമാനായും വിധിക്കുമ്പോള് നിര്മ്മലനായും ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

4. Against thee against thee alone, have I sinned, And, wickedness in thine eyes, have I done, That thou mayest, Be justified when thou speakest, Be clear when thou judgest.

5. Lo! in iniquity, was I brought forth, And, in sin, did my mother conceive me.

6. അന്തര്ഭാഗത്തിലെ സത്യമല്ലോ നീ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നതു; അന്തരംഗത്തില് എന്നെ ജ്ഞാനം ഗ്രഹിപ്പിക്കേണമേ.

6. Lo! faithfulness, hast thou desired in the inward parts, Yea, in the hidden part, wilt thou cause me to know, wisdom.

7. ഞാന് നിര്മ്മലനാകേണ്ടതിന്നു ഈസോപ്പുകൊണ്ടു എന്നെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കേണമേ; ഞാന് ഹിമത്തെക്കാള് വെളുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നെ കഴുകേണമേ.

7. Wilt thou cleanse me from sin with hyssop, That I may be pure? Wilt thou wash me, That I may be whiter, than snow?

8. സന്തോഷവും ആനന്ദവും എന്നെ കേള്ക്കുമാറാക്കേണമേ; നീ ഒടിച്ച അസ്ഥികള് ഉല്ലസിക്കട്ടെ.

8. Wilt thou cause me to hear joy and gladness? The bones thou hast crushed would exult.

9. എന്റെ പാപങ്ങളെ കാണാതവണ്ണം നിന്റെ മുഖം മറെക്കേണമേ. എന്റെ അകൃത്യങ്ങളെ ഒക്കെയും മായിച്ചു കളയേണമേ.

9. Hide thy face from my sins, And, all mine iniquities, blot out;

10. ദൈവമേ, നിര്മ്മലമായോരു ഹൃദയം എന്നില് സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു സ്ഥിരമായോരാത്മാവിനെ എന്നില് പുതുക്കേണമേ.

10. A pure heart, create for me, O God, And, a steadfast spirit, renew within me.

11. നിന്റെ സന്നിധിയില്നിന്നു എന്നെ തള്ളിക്കളയരുതേ; നിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനെ എന്നില്നിന്നു എടുക്കയുമരുതേ.

11. Do not cast me away from thy presence, And, thy Holy Spirit, do not take from me:

12. നിന്റെ രക്ഷയുടെ സന്തോഷം എനിക്കു തിരികെ തരേണമേ; മനസ്സൊരുക്കമുള്ള ആത്മാവിനാല് എന്നെ താങ്ങേണമേ.

12. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, And, with a willing spirit, wilt thou uphold me:

13. അപ്പോള് ഞാന് അതിക്രമക്കാരോടു നിന്റെ വഴികളെ ഉപദേശിക്കും; പാപികള് നിങ്കലേക്കു മനംതിരിയും.

13. I would teach transgressors thy ways, And, sinners, unto thee, should return.

14. എന്റെ രക്ഷയുടെ ദൈവമായ ദൈവമേ, രക്തപാതകത്തില്നിന്നു എന്നെ വിടുവിക്കേണമേ; എന്നാല് എന്റെ നാവു നിന്റെ നീതിയെ ഘോഷിക്കും.

14. Rescue me from shed-blood, O God, the God of my salvation, My tongue should shout thy righteousness;

15. കര്ത്താവേ, എന്റെ അധരങ്ങളെ തുറക്കേണമേ; എന്നാല് എന്റെ വായ് നിന്റെ സ്തുതിയെ വര്ണ്ണിക്കും.

15. O My Lord! my lips, wilt thou open, And, my mouth, shall declare thy praise.

16. ഹനനയാഗം നീ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നില്ല; അല്ലെങ്കില് ഞാന് അര്പ്പിക്കുമായിരുന്നു; ഹോമയാഗത്തില് നിനക്കു പ്രസാദവുമില്ല.

16. For thou wilt not desire sacrifice that I should give it, Ascending-offering, will not please:

17. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഹനനയാഗങ്ങള് തകര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്ന മനസ്സു; തകര്ന്നും നുറുങ്ങിയുമിരിക്കുന്ന ഹൃദയത്തെ, ദൈവമേ, നീ നിരസിക്കയില്ല.

17. The sacrifices of God, are a spirit that is broken, A heart broken and crushed, O God, thou wilt not despise.

18. നിന്റെ പ്രസാദപ്രകാരം സീയോനോടു നന്മ ചെയ്യേണമേ; യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ മതിലുകളെ പണിയേണമേ;

18. Do good, in thy good-pleasure, unto Zion, Wilt thou build the walls of Jerusalem!

19. അപ്പോള് നീ നീതിയാഗങ്ങളിലും ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളിലും സര്വ്വാംഗഹോമങ്ങളിലും പ്രസാദിക്കും; അപ്പോള് നിന്റെ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേല് കാളകളെ അര്പ്പിക്കും. (സംഗീതപ്രമാണിക്കു; ദാവീദിന്റെ ഒരു ധ്യാനം. എദോമ്യനായ ദോവേഗ് ചെന്നു ശൌലിനോടുദാവീദ് അഹീമേലെക്കിന്റെ വീട്ടില് വന്നിരുന്നു എന്നറിയിച്ചപ്പോള് ചമെച്ചതു.)

19. Then, shalt thou desire the sacrifices of righteousness, Ascending-sacrifice and whole burnt-offering, Then, shall ascend upon thine altar, young bulls.
