1. An Instruction of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my law, Incline your ear to sayings of my mouth.

2. ഞാന് ഉപമ പ്രസ്താവിപ്പാന് വായ് തുറക്കും; പുരാതനകടങ്കഥകളെ ഞാന് പറയും.

2. I open with a simile my mouth, I bring forth hidden things of old,

3. നാം അവയെ കേട്ടറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് നമ്മോടു പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

3. That we have heard and do know, And our fathers have recounted to us.

4. നാം അവരുടെ മക്കളോടു അവയെ മറെച്ചുവെക്കാതെ വരുവാനുള്ള തലമുറയോടു യഹോവയുടെ സ്തുതിയും ബലവും അവന് ചെയ്ത അത്ഭുതപ്രവൃത്തികളും വിവരിച്ചുപറയും.

4. We do not hide from their sons, To a later generation recounting praises of Jehovah, And His strength, and His wonders that He hath done.

5. അവന് യാക്കോബില് ഒരു സാക്ഷ്യം സ്ഥാപിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലില് ഒരു ന്യായപ്രമാണം നിയമിച്ചു; നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു അവയെ തങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളെ അറിയിപ്പാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

5. And He raiseth up a testimony in Jacob, And a law hath placed in Israel, That He commanded our fathers, To make them known to their sons.

6. വരുവാനുള്ള തലമുറ, ജനിപ്പാനിരിക്കുന്ന മക്കള് തന്നേ, അവയെ ഗ്രഹിച്ചു എഴുന്നേറ്റു തങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളോടറിയിക്കയും

6. So that a later generation doth know, Sons who are born, do rise and recount to their sons,

7. അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ ആശ്രയം ദൈവത്തില് വെക്കുകയും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെ മറന്നുകളയാതെ അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചുനടക്കയും

7. And place in God their confidence, And forget not the doings of God, But keep His commands.

8. തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപോലെ ശാഠ്യവും മത്സരവും ഉള്ള തലമുറയായി ഹൃദയത്തെ സ്ഥിരമാക്കാതെ ദൈവത്തോടു അവിശ്വസ്തമനസ്സുള്ളോരു തലമുറയായി തീരാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

8. And they are not like their fathers, A generation apostate and rebellious, A generation! it hath not prepared its heart, Nor stedfast with God [is] its spirit.

9. ആയുധം ധരിച്ച വില്ലാളികളായ എഫ്രയീമ്യര് യുദ്ധദിവസത്തില് പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞുപോയി.

9. Sons of Ephraim -- armed bearers of bow, Have turned in a day of conflict.

10. അവര് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നിയമം പ്രമാണിച്ചില്ല. അവന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു നടന്നു.

10. They have not kept the covenant of God, And in His law they have refused to walk,

11. അവര് അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെയും അവരെ കാണിച്ച അത്ഭുതങ്ങളെയും മറന്നു കളഞ്ഞു.

11. And they forget His doings, And His wonders that He shewed them.

12. അവന് മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു, സോവാന് വയലില്വെച്ചു അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് കാണ്കെ, അത്ഭുതം പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു.

12. Before their fathers He hath done wonders, In the land of Egypt -- the field of Zoan.

13. അവന് സമുദ്രത്തെ വിഭാഗിച്ചു, അതില്കൂടി അവരെ കടത്തി; അവന് വെള്ളത്തെ ചിറപോലെ നിലക്കുമാറാക്കി.

13. He cleft a sea, and causeth them to pass over, Yea, He causeth waters to stand as a heap.

14. പകല്സമയത്തു അവന് മേഘംകൊണ്ടും രാത്രി മുഴുവനും അഗ്നിപ്രകാശംകൊണ്ടും അവരെ നടത്തി.

14. And leadeth them with a cloud by day, And all the night with a light of fire.

15. അവന് മരുഭൂമിയില് പാറകളെ പിളര്ന്നു ആഴികളാല് എന്നപോലെ അവര്ക്കും ധാരാളം കുടിപ്പാന് കൊടുത്തു.

15. He cleaveth rocks in a wilderness, And giveth drink -- as the great deep.

16. പാറയില്നിന്നു അവന് ഒഴുക്കുകളെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; വെള്ളം നദികളെപ്പോലെ ഒഴുകുമാറാക്കി.

16. And bringeth out streams from a rock, And causeth waters to come down as rivers.

17. എങ്കിലും അവര് അവനോടു പാപം ചെയ്തു; അത്യുന്നതനോടു മരുഭൂമിയില്വെച്ചു മത്സരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

17. And they add still to sin against Him, To provoke the Most High in the dry place.

18. തങ്ങളുടെ കൊതിക്കു ഭക്ഷണം ചോദിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു അവര് ഹൃദയത്തില് ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു.

18. And they try God in their heart, To ask food for their lust.

19. അവര് ദൈവത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി സംസാരിച്ചുമരുഭൂമിയില് മേശ ഒരുക്കുവാന് ദൈവത്തിന്നു കഴിയുമോ?

19. And they speak against God -- they said: 'Is God able to array a table in a wilderness?'

20. അവന് പാറയെ അടിച്ചു, വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെട്ടു, തോടുകളും കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകി സത്യം; എന്നാല് അപ്പംകൂടെ തരുവാന് അവന്നു കഴിയുമോ? തന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു അവന് മാംസം വരുത്തി കൊടുക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. Lo, He hath smitten a rock, And waters flow, yea, streams overflow. 'Also -- bread [is] He able to give? Doth He prepare flesh for His people?'

21. ആകയാല് യഹോവ അതു കേട്ടു കോപിച്ചു; യാക്കോബിന്റെ നേരെ തീ ജ്വലിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നേരെ കോപവും പൊങ്ങി.

21. Therefore hath Jehovah heard, And He sheweth Himself wroth, And fire hath been kindled against Jacob, And anger also hath gone up against Israel,

22. അവര് ദൈവത്തില് വിശ്വസിക്കയും അവന്റെ രക്ഷയില് ആശ്രയിക്കയും ചെയ്യായ്കയാല് തന്നേ.

22. For they have not believed in God, Nor have they trusted in His salvation.

23. അവന് മീതെ മേഘങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചു; ആകാശത്തിന്റെ വാതിലുകളെ തുറന്നു.

23. And He commandeth clouds from above, Yea, doors of the heavens He hath opened.

24. അവര്ക്കും തിന്മാന് മന്ന വര്ഷിപ്പിച്ചു; സ്വര്ഗ്ഗീയധാന്യം അവര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തു.

24. And He raineth on them manna to eat, Yea, corn of heaven He hath given to them.

25. മനുഷ്യര് ശക്തിമാന്മാരുടെ അപ്പം തിന്നു; അവന് അവര്ക്കും തൃപ്തിയാകുംവണ്ണം ആഹാരം അയച്ചു.

25. Food of the mighty hath each eaten, Venison He sent to them to satiety.

26. അവന് ആകാശത്തില് കിഴക്കന് കാറ്റു അടിപ്പിച്ചു; തന്റെ ശക്തിയാല് കിഴക്കന് കാറ്റു വരുത്തി.

26. He causeth an east wind to journey in the heavens, And leadeth by His strength a south wind,

27. അവന് അവര്ക്കും പൊടിപോലെ മാംസത്തെയും കടല്പുറത്തെ മണല്പോലെ പക്ഷികളെയും വര്ഷിപ്പിച്ചു;

27. And He raineth on them flesh as dust, And as sand of the seas -- winged fowl,

28. അവരുടെ പാളയത്തിന്റെ നടുവിലും പാര്പ്പിടങ്ങളുടെ ചുറ്റിലും അവയെ പൊഴിച്ചു.

28. And causeth [it] to fall in the midst of His camp, Round about His tabernacles.

29. അങ്ങനെ അവര് തിന്നു തൃപ്തരായ്തീര്ന്നു; അവര് ആഗ്രഹിച്ചതു അവന് അവര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തു.

29. And they eat, and are greatly satisfied, And their desire He bringeth to them.

30. അവരുടെ കൊതിക്കു മതിവന്നില്ല; ഭക്ഷണം അവരുടെ വായില് ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ,

30. They have not been estranged from their desire, Yet [is] their food in their mouth,

31. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കോപം അവരുടെമേല് വന്നു; അവരുടെ അതിപുഷ്ടന്മാരില് ചിലരെ കൊന്നു യിസ്രായേലിലെ യൌവനക്കാരെ സംഹരിച്ചു.
1 കൊരിന്ത്യർ 10:5

31. And the anger of God hath gone up against them, And He slayeth among their fat ones, And youths of Israel He caused to bend.

32. ഇതെല്ലാമായിട്ടും അവര് പിന്നെയും പാപം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ അത്ഭുതപ്രവൃത്തികളെ വിശ്വസിച്ചതുമില്ല.

32. With all this they have sinned again, And have not believed in His wonders.

33. അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് അവരുടെ നാളുകളെ ശ്വാസംപോലെയും അവരുടെ സംവത്സരങ്ങളെ അതിവേഗത്തിലും കഴിയുമാറാക്കി.

33. And He consumeth in vanity their days, And their years in trouble.

34. അവന് അവരെ കൊല്ലുമ്പോള് അവര് അവനെ അന്വേഷിക്കും; അവര് തിരിഞ്ഞു ജാഗ്രതയോടെ ദൈവത്തെ തിരയും.

34. If He slew them, then they sought Him, And turned back, and sought God earnestly,

35. ദൈവം തങ്ങളുടെ പാറ എന്നും അത്യുന്നതനായ ദൈവം തങ്ങളുടെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരന് എന്നും അവര് ഔര്ക്കും.

35. And they remember that God [is] their rock, And God Most High their redeemer.

36. എങ്കിലും അവര് വായ്കൊണ്ടു അവനോടു കപടം സംസാരിക്കും നാവുകൊണ്ടു അവനോടു ഭോഷകു പറയും.

36. And -- they deceive Him with their mouth, And with their tongue do lie to Him,

37. അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം അവങ്കല് സ്ഥിരമായിരുന്നില്ല, അവന്റെ നിയമത്തോടു അവര് വിശ്വസ്തത കാണിച്ചതുമില്ല.

37. And their heart hath not been right with Him, And they have not been stedfast in His covenant.

38. എങ്കിലും അവന് കരുണയുള്ളവനാകകൊണ്ടു അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കാതെ അവരുടെ അകൃത്യം ക്ഷമിച്ചു; തന്റെ ക്രോധത്തെ മുഴുവനും ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കാതെ തന്റെ കോപത്തെ പലപ്പോഴും അടക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

38. And He -- the Merciful One, Pardoneth iniquity, and destroyeth not, And hath often turned back His anger, And waketh not up all His fury.

39. അവര് ജഡമത്രേ എന്നും മടങ്ങിവരാതെ കടന്നുപോകുന്ന കാറ്റു എന്നും അവന് ഔര്ത്തു.

39. And He remembereth that they [are] flesh, A wind going on -- and it returneth not.

40. മരുഭൂമിയില് അവര് എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം അവനോടു മത്സരിച്ചു! ശൂന്യപ്രദേശത്തു എത്രപ്രാവശ്യം അവനെ ദുഃഖിപ്പിച്ചു!

40. How often do they provoke Him in the wilderness, Grieve Him in the desolate place?

41. അവര് പിന്നെയും പിന്നെയും ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധനെ മുഷിപ്പിച്ചു.

41. Yea, they turn back, and try God, And the Holy One of Israel have limited.

42. മിസ്രയീമില് അടയാളങ്ങളെയും സോവാന് വയലില് അത്ഭുതങ്ങളെയും ചെയ്ത അവന്റെ കയ്യും

42. They have not remembered His hand The day He ransomed them from the adversary.

43. അവന് ശത്രുവിന് വശത്തുനിന്നു അവരെ വിടുവിച്ച ദിവസവും അവര് ഔര്ത്തില്ല.

43. When He set His signs in Egypt, And His wonders in the field of Zoan,

44. അവന് അവരുടെ നദികളെയും തോടുകളെയും അവര്ക്കും കുടിപ്പാന് വഹിയാതവണ്ണം രക്തമാക്കി തീര്ത്തു.

44. And He turneth to blood their streams, And their floods they drink not.

45. അവന് അവരുടെ ഇടയില് ഈച്ചയെ അയച്ചു; അവ അവരെ അരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞുതവളയെയും അയച്ചു അവ അവര്ക്കും നാശം ചെയ്തു.

45. He sendeth among them the beetle, and it consumeth them, And the frog, and it destroyeth them,

46. അവരുടെ വിള അവന് തുള്ളന്നും അവരുടെ പ്രയത്നം വെട്ടുക്കിളിക്കും കൊടുത്തു.

46. And giveth to the caterpillar their increase, And their labour to the locust.

47. അവന് അവരുടെ മുന്തിരിവള്ളികളെ കല്മഴകൊണ്ടും അവരുടെ കാട്ടത്തിവൃക്ഷങ്ങളെ ആലിപ്പഴം കൊണ്ടും നശിപ്പിച്ചു.

47. He destroyeth with hail their vine, And their sycamores with frost,

48. അവന് അവരുടെ കന്നുകാലികളെ കല്മഴെക്കും അവരുടെ ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടങ്ങളെ ഇടിത്തീക്കും ഏല്പിച്ചു.

48. And delivereth up to the hail their beasts, And their cattle to the burning flames.

49. അവന് അവരുടെ ഇടയില് തന്റെ കോപാഗ്നിയും ക്രോധവും രോഷവും കഷ്ടവും അയച്ചു; അനര്ത്ഥദൂതന്മാരുടെ ഒരു ഗണത്തെ തന്നേ.

49. He sendeth on them the fury of His anger, Wrath, and indignation, and distress -- A discharge of evil messengers.

50. അവന് തന്റെ കോപത്തിന്നു ഒരു പാത ഒരുക്കി, അവരുടെ പ്രാണനെ മരണത്തില്നിന്നു വിടുവിക്കാതെ അവരുടെ ജീവനെ മഹാമാരിക്കു ഏല്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

50. He pondereth a path for His anger, He kept not back their soul from death, Yea, their life to the pestilence He delivered up.

51. അവന് മിസ്രയീമിലെ എല്ലാ കടിഞ്ഞൂലിനെയും ഹാംകൂടാരങ്ങളിലുള്ളവരുടെ വീര്യത്തിന്റെ പ്രഥമഫലത്തെയും സംഹരിച്ചു.

51. And He smiteth every first-born in Egypt, The first-fruit of the strong in tents of Ham.

52. എന്നാല് തന്റെ ജനത്തെ അവന് ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; മരുഭൂമിയില് ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടത്തെപ്പോലെ അവരെ നടത്തി.

52. And causeth His people to journey as a flock, And guideth them as a drove in a wilderness,

53. അവന് അവരെ നിര്ഭയമായി നടത്തുകയാല് അവര്ക്കും പേടിയുണ്ടായില്ല; അവരുടെ ശത്രുക്കളെ സമുദ്രം മൂടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

53. And He leadeth them confidently, And they have not been afraid, And their enemies hath the sea covered.

54. അവന് അവരെ തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധദേശത്തിലേക്കും തന്റെ വലങ്കൈ സമ്പാദിച്ച ഈ പര്വ്വതത്തിലേക്കും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

54. And He bringeth them in unto the border of His sanctuary, This mountain His right hand had got,

55. അവരുടെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു അവന് ജാതികളെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു; ചരടുകൊണ്ടു അളന്നു അവര്ക്കും അവകാശം പകുത്തുകൊടുത്തു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ഗോത്രങ്ങളെ അവരവരുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളില് പാര്പ്പിച്ചു.

55. And casteth out nations from before them, And causeth them to fall in the line of inheritance, And causeth the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents,

56. എങ്കിലും അവര് അത്യുന്നതനായ ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു മത്സരിച്ചു; അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യങ്ങളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചതുമില്ല.

56. And they tempt and provoke God Most High, And His testimonies have not kept.

57. അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞു ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്തു; വഞ്ചനയുള്ള വില്ലുപോലെ അവര് മാറിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

57. And they turn back, And deal treacherously like their fathers, They have been turned like a deceitful bow,

58. അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ പൂജാഗിരികളെക്കൊണ്ടു അവനെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചു; വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ടു അവന്നു തീക്ഷണതജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

58. And make Him angry with their high places, And with their graven images make Him zealous,

59. ദൈവം കേട്ടു ക്രുദ്ധിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിനെ ഏറ്റവും വെറുത്തു.

59. God hath heard, and sheweth Himself wroth. And kicketh exceedingly against Israel.

60. ആകയാല് അവന് ശീലോവിലെ തിരുനിവാസവും താന് മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയില് അടിച്ചിരുന്ന കൂടാരവും ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

60. And He leaveth the tabernacle of Shiloh, The tent He had placed among men,

61. തന്റെ ബലത്തെ പ്രവാസത്തിലും തന്റെ മഹത്വത്തെ ശത്രുവിന്റെ കയ്യിലും ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

61. And He giveth His strength to captivity, And His beauty into the hand of an adversary,

62. അവന് തന്റെ അവകാശത്തോടു കോപിച്ചു; തന്റെ ജനത്തെ വാളിന്നു വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു.

62. And delivereth up to the sword His people, And with His inheritance shewed Himself angry.

63. അവരുടെ യൌവനക്കാര് തീക്കു ഇരയായിതീര്ന്നു; അവരുടെ കന്യകമാര്ക്കും വിവാഹഗീതം ഉണ്ടായതുമില്ല.

63. His young men hath fire consumed, And His virgins have not been praised.

64. അവരുടെ പുരോഹിതന്മാര് വാള്കൊണ്ടു വീണു; അവരുടെ വിധവമാര് വിലാപം കഴിച്ചതുമില്ല.

64. His priests by the sword have fallen, And their widows weep not.

65. അപ്പോള് കര്ത്താവു ഉറക്കുണര്ന്നുവരുന്നവനെപ്പോലെയും വീഞ്ഞുകുടിച്ചു അട്ടഹസിക്കുന്ന വീരനെപ്പോലെയും ഉണര്ന്നു.

65. And the Lord waketh as a sleeper, As a mighty one crying aloud from wine.

66. അവന് തന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ പുറകോട്ടു അടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; അവര്ക്കും നിത്യനിന്ദവരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.

66. And He smiteth His adversaries backward, A reproach age-during He hath put on them,

67. എന്നാല് അവന് യോസേഫിന്റെ കൂടാരത്തെ ത്യജിച്ചു; എഫ്രയീംഗോത്രത്തെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതുമില്ല.

67. And He kicketh against the tent of Joseph, And on the tribe of Ephraim hath not fixed.

68. അവന് യെഹൂദാഗോത്രത്തെയും താന് പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട സീയോന് പര്വ്വതത്തെയും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.

68. And He chooseth the tribe of Judah, With mount Zion that He loved,

69. താന് സദാകാലത്തേക്കും സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഭൂമിയെപ്പോലെയും സ്വര്ഗ്ഗോന്നതികളെപ്പോലെയും അവന് തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തെ പണിതു.

69. And buildeth His sanctuary as a high place, Like the earth, He founded it to the age.

70. അവന് തന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിനെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു; ആട്ടിന് തൊഴുത്തുകളില്നിന്നു അവനെ വരുത്തി.

70. And He fixeth on David His servant, And taketh him from the folds of a flock,

71. തന്റെ ജനമായ യാക്കോബിനെയും തന്റെ അവകാശമായ യിസ്രായേലിനെയും മേയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന് അവനെ തള്ളയാടുകളെ നോക്കുന്ന വേലയില്നിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

71. From behind suckling ones He hath brought him in, To rule over Jacob His people, And over Israel His inheritance.

72. അങ്ങനെ അവന് പരമാര്ത്ഥഹൃദയത്തോടെ അവരെ മേയിച്ചു; കൈമിടുക്കോടെ അവരെ നടത്തി. (ആസാഫിന്റെ ഒരു സങ്കീര്ത്തനം.)

72. And he ruleth them according to the integrity of his heart, And by the skilfulness of his hands leadeth them!
