1. ദൈവം മോശെക്കും തന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്നും വേണ്ടി ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിനെ മിസ്രയീമില് നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചതും മിദ്യാനിലെ പുരോഹിതനായി മോശെയുടെ അമ്മായപ്പനായ യിത്രോ കേട്ടു.

1. Moses' father-in-law Jethro was the priest of Midian. He heard about everything God had done for Moses and for his people Israel. He heard how the Lord had brought Israel out of Egypt.

2. അപ്പോള് മോശെയുടെ അമ്മായപ്പനായ യിത്രോ മോശെ മടക്കി അയച്ചിരുന്ന അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ സിപ്പോറയെയും അവളുടെ രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാരെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

2. Moses had sent his wife Zipporah to his father-in-law. So Jethro welcomed her

3. ഞാന് അന്യദേശത്തു പരദേശിയായി എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതു കൊണ്ടു അവരില് ഒരുത്തന്നു ഗേര്ഷോം എന്നു പേര്.

3. and her two sons. One son was named Gershom. That's because Moses had said, 'I'm an outsider in a strange land.'

4. The other was named Eliezer. That's because Moses had said, 'My father's God helped me. He saved me from Pharaoh's sword.'

5. എന്നാല് മോശെയുടെ അമ്മായപ്പനായ യിത്രോ അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരോടും അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയോടുംകൂടെ, മോശെ പാളയമിറങ്ങിയിരുന്ന മരുഭൂമിയില് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പര്വ്വതത്തിങ്കല് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു.

5. Moses' father-in-law Jethro came to Moses in the desert. Moses' sons and wife came with Jethro. Moses was camped near the mountain of God.

6. നിന്റെ അമ്മായപ്പന് യിത്രോ എന്ന ഞാനും നിന്റെ ഭാര്യയും രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാരും നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവന് മോശെയോടു പറയിച്ചു.

6. Jethro had sent a message to him. It said, 'I, your father-in-law Jethro, am coming to you. I'm bringing your wife and her two sons.'

7. മോശെ തന്റെ അമ്മായപ്പനെ എതിരേല്പാന് ചെന്നു വണങ്ങി അവനെ ചുംബിച്ചു; അവര് തമ്മില് കുശലപ്രശ്നം ചെയ്തു കൂടാരത്തില് വന്നു.

7. So Moses went out to meet his father-in-law. Moses bowed down and kissed him. They greeted each other. Then they went into the tent.

8. മോശെ തന്റെ അമ്മായപ്പനോടു യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്നുവേണ്ടി ഫറവോനോടും മിസ്രയീമ്യരോടും ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും വഴിയില് തങ്ങള്ക്കു നേരിട്ട പ്രയാസം ഒക്കെയും യഹോവ തങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിച്ചപ്രകാരവും വിവരിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. Moses told his father-in-law about everything the Lord had done to Pharaoh and the Egyptians because of how much he loved Israel. He told him about all of their hard times along the way. He told him about how the Lord had saved them.

9. യഹോവ മിസ്രയീമ്യരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു യിസ്രായേലിനെ വിടുവിച്ചതിനാല് അവര്ക്കും ചെയ്ത എല്ലാ നന്മനിമിത്തവും യിത്രോ സന്തോഷിച്ചു.

9. Jethro was delighted to hear about all of the good things the Lord had done for Israel. He heard about how God had saved them from the power of Egypt.

10. യിത്രോ പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്നിങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീമ്യരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നും ഫറവോന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നും രക്ഷിച്ചു മിസ്രയീമ്യരുടെ കൈക്കീഴില്നിന്നു ജനത്തെ വിടുവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന യഹോവ സ്തുതിക്കപ്പെടുമാറാകട്ടെ.

10. He said, 'I praise the Lord. He saved you and your people from the power of Pharaoh and Egypt.

11. യഹോവ സകലദേവന്മാരിലും വലിയവന് എന്നു ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള് അറിയുന്നു. അതേ, ഇവരോടു അവര് അഹങ്കരിച്ച കാര്യത്തില് തന്നേ.

11. Now I know that the Lord is greater than all other gods. See what he did to those who looked down on Israel.'

12. മോശെയുടെ അമ്മായപ്പനായ യിത്രോ ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഹോമവും ഹനനയാഗവും കഴിച്ചു; അഹരോനും യിസ്രായേല് മൂപ്പന്മാരെല്ലാവരും വന്നു മോശെയുടെ അമ്മായപ്പനോടുകൂടെ ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചു.

12. Then Moses' father-in-law Jethro brought a burnt offering and other sacrifices to God. Aaron came with all of the elders of Israel. They ate with Moses' father-in-law in the sight of God.

13. പിറ്റെന്നാള് മോശെ ജനത്തിന്നു ന്യായം വിധിപ്പാന് ഇരുന്നു; ജനം രാവിലെ തുടങ്ങി വൈകുന്നേരംവരെ മോശെയുടെ ചുറ്റും നിന്നു.

13. The next day Moses took his seat to serve the people as their judge. They stood around him from morning until evening.

14. അവന് ജനത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി ചെയ്യുന്നതൊക്കെയും മോശെയുടെ അമ്മായപ്പന് കണ്ടപ്പോള്നീ ജനത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ കാര്യം എന്തു? നീ ഏകനായി വിസ്തരിപ്പാന് ഇരിക്കയും ജനം ഒക്കെയും രാവിലേ തുടങ്ങി വൈകുന്നേരംവരെ നിന്റെ ചുറ്റും നില്ക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു അവന് ചോദിച്ചു.

14. His father-in-law saw everything Moses was doing for the people. So he said, 'Aren't you trying to do too much for the people? You are the only judge. And all of these people are standing around you from morning until evening.'

15. മോശെ തന്റെ അമ്മായപ്പനോടുദൈവത്തോടു ചോദിപ്പാന് ജനം എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുന്നു.

15. Moses answered him. He said, 'The people come to me to find out what God wants them to do.

16. അവര്ക്കും ഒരു കാര്യം ഉണ്ടാകുമ്പോള് അവര് എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരും. അവര്ക്കും തമ്മിലുള്ള കാര്യം ഞാന് കേട്ടു വിധിക്കയും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കല്പനകളും പ്രമാണങ്ങളും അവരെ അറിയിക്കയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. Anytime they don't agree, they come to me. I decide between them. I tell them about God's rules and laws.'

17. അതിന്നു മോശെയുടെ അമ്മായപ്പന് അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു

17. Moses' father-in-law replied, 'What you are doing isn't good.

18. നീ ചെയ്യുന്ന കാര്യം നന്നല്ല; നീയും നിന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ള ഈ ജനവും ക്ഷീണിച്ചുപോകും; ഈ കാര്യം നിനക്കു അതിഭാരമാകുന്നു; ഏകനായി അതു നിവര്ത്തിപ്പാന് നിനക്കു കഴിയുന്നതല്ല.

18. You will just get worn out. And so will these people who come to you. There's too much work for you. You can't possibly handle it by yourself.

19. ആകയാല് എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്ക; ഞാന് ഒരാലോചന പറഞ്ഞുതരാം. ദൈവം നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കും; നീ ജനത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് ഇരിക്ക; നീ കാര്യങ്ങളെ ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് കൊണ്ടുചെല്ലുക.

19. 'Listen to me. I'll give you some advice, and may God be with you. You must speak to God for the people. Take their problems to him.

20. അവര്ക്കും കല്പനകളും പ്രമാണങ്ങളും ഉപദേശിക്കയും നടക്കേണ്ടുന്ന വഴിയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടുന്ന പ്രവൃത്തിയും അവരെ അറിയിക്കയും ചെയ്ക.

20. Teach them the rules and laws. Show them how to live and what to do.

21. അതല്ലാതെ, ദൈവഭക്തന്മാരും സത്യവാന്മാരും ദുരാദായം വെറുക്കുന്നവരുമായ പ്രാപ്തിയുള്ള പുരുഷന്മാരെ സകലജനത്തില്നിന്നും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു അവരെ ആയിരംപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിമാരായും നൂറുപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിമാരായും അമ്പതുപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിമാരായും പത്തുപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിമാരായും നിയമിക്ക.

21. 'But choose men of ability from all of the people. They must have respect for God. You must be able to trust them. They must not try to get money by cheating others. Appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.

22. അവര് എല്ലാസമയത്തും ജനത്തിന്നു ന്യായം വിധിക്കട്ടെ; വലിയ കാര്യം ഒക്കെയും അവര് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരട്ടെ; ചെറിയ കാര്യം ഒക്കെയും അവര് തന്നേ തീര്ക്കട്ടെ; ഇങ്ങനെ അവര് നിന്നോടുകൂടെ വഹിക്കുന്നതിനാല് നിനക്കു ഭാരം കുറയും.

22. Let them serve the people as judges. But have them bring every hard case to you. They can decide the easy ones themselves. That will make your load lighter. They will share it with you.

23. നീ ഈ കാര്യം ചെയ്കയും ദൈവം അതു അനുവദിക്കയും ചെയ്താല് നിനക്കു നിന്നുപൊറുക്കാം. ഈ ജനത്തിന്നൊക്കെയും സമാധാനത്തോടെ തങ്ങളുടെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു പോകയുമാം.

23. 'If this is what God wants and if you do it, then you will be able to carry the load. And all of these people will go home satisfied.'

24. മോശെ തന്റെ അമ്മായപ്പന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു, അവന് പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്തു.

24. Moses listened to his father-in-law. He did everything Jethro said.

25. മോശെ എല്ലായിസ്രായേലില്നിന്നും പ്രാപ്തിയുള്ള പുരുഷന്മാരെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു അവരെ ആയിരംപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിമാരായും നൂറുപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിമാരായും അമ്പതുപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിമാരായും പത്തുപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിമാരായും ജനത്തിന്നു തലവന്മാരാക്കി.

25. He chose men of ability from the whole community of Israel. He made them leaders of the people. They became officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.

26. അവര് എല്ലാസമയത്തും ജനത്തിന്നു ന്യായം വിധിച്ചു വന്നു; വിഷമമുള്ള കാര്യം അവര് മോശെയുടെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരും; ചെറിയ കാര്യം ഒക്കെയും അവര് തന്നേ തീര്ക്കും.

26. They judged the people at all times. They brought the hard cases to Moses. But they decided the easy ones themselves.

27. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം മോശെ തന്റെ അമ്മായപ്പനെ യാത്ര അയച്ചു; അവന് സ്വദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

27. Moses sent his father-in-law on his way. So Jethro returned to his own country.
