1. അവരുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നീ വെക്കേണ്ടുന്ന ന്യായങ്ങളാവിതു

1. 'Give the Israelites the following laws:

2. ഒരു എബ്രായദാസനെ വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങിയാല് ആറു സംവത്സരം സേവിച്ചിട്ടു ഏഴാം സംവത്സരത്തില് അവന് ഒന്നും കൊടുക്കാതെ സ്വതന്ത്രനായി പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളട്ടെ.
യോഹന്നാൻ 8:35

2. If you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve you for six years. In the seventh year he is to be set free without having to pay anything.

3. ഏകനായി വന്നു എങ്കില് ഏകനായി പോകട്ടെ; അവന്നു ഭാര്യയുണ്ടായിരുന്നു എങ്കില് ഭാര്യയും അവനോടുകൂടെ പോകട്ടെ.

3. If he was unmarried when he became your slave, he is not to take a wife with him when he leaves; but if he was married when he became your slave, he may take his wife with him.

4. അവന്റെ യജമാനന് അവന്നു ഭാര്യയെ കൊടുക്കയും അവള് അവന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയോ പുത്രിമാരെയോ പ്രസവിക്കയും ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കില് ഭാര്യയും മക്കളും യജമാനന്നു ഇരിക്കേണം; അവന് ഏകനായി പോകേണം.

4. If his master gave him a wife and she bore him sons or daughters, the woman and her children belong to the master, and the man is to leave by himself.

5. എന്നാല് ദാസന് ഞാന് എന്റെ യജമാനനെയും എന്റെ ഭാര്യയെയും മക്കളെയും സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് സ്വതന്ത്രനായി പോകയില്ല എന്നു തീര്ത്തു പറഞ്ഞാല്

5. But if the slave declares that he loves his master, his wife, and his children and does not want to be set free,

6. യജമാനന് അവനെ ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു കതകിന്റെയോ കട്ടളക്കാലിന്റെയോ അടുക്കല് നിറുത്തീട്ടു സൂചികൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ കാതു കുത്തി തുളക്കേണം; പിന്നെ അവന് എന്നേക്കും അവന്നു ദാസനായിരിക്കേണം.

6. then his master shall take him to the place of worship. There he is to make him stand against the door or the doorpost and put a hole through his ear. Then he will be his slave for life.

7. ഒരുത്തന് തന്റെ പുത്രിയെ ദാസിയായി വിറ്റാല് അവള് ദാസന്മാര് പോകുന്നതു പോലെ പോകരുതു.

7. 'If a man sells his daughter as a slave, she is not to be set free, as male slaves are.

8. അവളെ തനിക്കു സംബന്ധത്തിന്നു നിയമിച്ച യജമാനന്നു അവളെ ബോധിക്കാതിരുന്നാല് അവളെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാന് അവന് അനുവദിക്കേണം; അവളെ ചതിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അന്യജാതിക്കു വിറ്റുകളവാന് അവന്നു അധികാരമില്ല.

8. If she is sold to someone who intends to make her his wife, but he doesn't like her, then she is to be sold back to her father; her master cannot sell her to foreigners, because he has treated her unfairly.

9. അവന് അവളെ തന്റെ പുത്രന്നു നിയമിച്ചു എങ്കില് പുത്രിമാരുടെ ന്യായത്തിന്നു തക്കവണ്ണം അവളോടു പെരുമാറേണം.

9. If a man buys a female slave to give to his son, he is to treat her like a daughter.

10. അവന് മറ്റൊരുത്തിയെ പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചാല് ഇവളുടെ ഉപജീവനവും ഉടുപ്പും വിവാഹമുറയും കുറെക്കരുതു.

10. If a man takes a second wife, he must continue to give his first wife the same amount of food and clothing and the same rights that she had before.

11. ഈ മൂന്നു കാര്യവും അവന് അവള്ക്കു ചെയ്യാതിരുന്നാല് അവളെ പണം വാങ്ങാതെ വെറുതെ വിട്ടയക്കേണം.

11. If he does not fulfill these duties to her, he must set her free and not receive any payment.

12. ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ അടിച്ചുകൊല്ലുന്നവന് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.

12. 'Whoever hits someone and kills him is to be put to death.

13. അവന് കരുതിക്കൂട്ടാതെ അങ്ങനെ അവന്റെ കയ്യാല് സംഭവിപ്പാന് ദൈവം സംഗതിവരുത്തിയതായാല് അവന് ഔടിപ്പോകേണ്ടുന്ന സ്ഥലം ഞാന് നിയമിക്കും.

13. But if it was an accident and he did not mean to kill him, he can escape to a place which I will choose for you, and there he will be safe.

14. എന്നാല് ഒരുത്തല് കരുതിക്കൂട്ടി കൂട്ടുകാരനെ ചതിച്ചു കൊന്നതെങ്കില് അവന് മരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ അവനെ എന്റെ യാഗപീഠത്തിങ്കല് നിന്നും പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോകേണം.

14. But when someone gets angry and deliberately kills someone else, he is to be put to death, even if he has run to my altar for safety.

15. തന്റെ അപ്പനെയോ അമ്മയെയോ അടിക്കുന്നവന് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.

15. 'Whoever hits his father or his mother is to be put to death.

16. ഒരുത്തന് ഒരാളെ മോഷ്ടിച്ചിട്ടു അവനെ വില്ക്കയാകട്ടെ അവന്റെ കൈവശം അവനെ കണ്ടുപിടിക്കയാകട്ടെ ചെയ്താല് അവന് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.

16. 'Whoever kidnaps someone, either to sell him or to keep him as a slave, is to be put to death.

17. തന്റെ അപ്പനെയോ അമ്മയെയോ ശപിക്കുന്നവന് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.

17. 'Whoever curses his father or his mother is to be put to death.

18. മനുഷ്യര് തമ്മില് ശണ്ഠകൂടീട്ടു ഒരുത്തന് മറ്റവനെ കല്ലുകൊണ്ടോ മുഷ്ടികൊണ്ടോ കുത്തിയതിനാല് അവന് മരിച്ചുപോകാതെ കിടപ്പിലാകയും

18. 'If there is a fight and someone hits someone else with a stone or with his fist, but does not kill him, he is not to be punished. If the one who was hit has to stay in bed, but later is able to get up and walk outside with the help of a cane, the one who hit him is to pay for his lost time and take care of him until he gets well.

19. പിന്നെയും എഴുന്നേറ്റു വടി ഊന്നി വെളിയില് നടക്കയും ചെയ്താല് കുത്തിയവനെ ശിക്ഷിക്കരുതു; എങ്കിലും അവന് അവന്റെ മിനക്കേടിന്നുവേണ്ടി കൊടുത്തു അവനെ നല്ലവണ്ണം ചികിത്സിപ്പിക്കേണം.

20. ഒരുത്തന് തന്റെ ദാസനെയോ ദാസിയെയോ തല്ക്ഷണം മരിച്ചുപോകത്തക്കവണ്ണം വടികൊണ്ടു അടിച്ചാല് അവനെ നിശ്ചയമായി ശിക്ഷിക്കേണം.

20. 'If a slave owner takes a stick and beats his slave, whether male or female, and the slave dies on the spot, the owner is to be punished.

21. എങ്കിലും അവന് ഒന്നു രണ്ടു ദിവസം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നാല് അവനെ ശിക്ഷിക്കരുതു; അവന് അവന്റെ മുതലല്ലോ.

21. But if the slave does not die for a day or two, the master is not to be punished. The loss of his property is punishment enough.

22. മനുഷ്യര് തമ്മില് ശണ്ഠകൂടീട്ടു ഗര്ഭിണിയായ ഒരു സ്ത്രീയെ അടിച്ചതിനാല് ഗര്ഭം അലസിയതല്ലാതെ അവള്ക്കു മറ്റൊരു ദോഷവും വന്നില്ലെങ്കില് അടിച്ചവന് ആ സ്ത്രീയുടെ ഭര്ത്താവു ചുമത്തുന്ന പിഴ കൊടുക്കേണം; ന്യായാധിപന്മാര് വിധിക്കുമ്പോലെ അവന് കൊടുക്കേണം.

22. 'If some men are fighting and hurt a pregnant woman so that she loses her child, but she is not injured in any other way, the one who hurt her is to be fined whatever amount the woman's husband demands, subject to the approval of the judges.

23. മറ്റു ദോഷം വന്നിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കില് ജീവന്നു പകരം ജീവന് കൊടുക്കേണം.

23. But if the woman herself is injured, the punishment shall be life for life,

24. കണ്ണിന്നു പകരം കണ്ണു; പല്ലിന്നു പകരം പല്ലു; കൈകൂ പകരം കൈ; കാലിന്നു പകരം കാല്;
മത്തായി 5:38

24. eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,

25. പൊള്ളലിന്നു പകരം പൊള്ളല്; മുറിവിന്നു പകരം മുറിവു; തിണര്പ്പിന്നു പകരം തിണര്പ്പു.

25. burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.

26. ഒരുത്തന് അടിച്ചു തന്റെ ദാസന്റെയോ ദാസിയുടെയോ കണ്ണു കളഞ്ഞാല് അവന് കണ്ണിന്നു പകരം അവനെ സ്വതന്ത്രനായി വിട്ടയക്കേണം.

26. 'If someone hits his male or female slave in the eye and puts it out, he is to free the slave as payment for the eye.

27. അവന് തന്റെ ദാസന്റെയോ ദാസിയുടെയോ പല്ലുഅടിച്ചു തകര്ത്താല് അവന് പല്ലിന്നു പകരം അവനെ സ്വതന്ത്രനായി വിട്ടയക്കേണം.

27. If he knocks out a tooth, he is to free the slave as payment for the tooth.

28. ഒരു കാള ഒരു പുരുഷനെയോ സ്ത്രീയെയോ കുത്തിക്കൊന്നാല് ആ കാളയെ കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞു കൊല്ലേണം; അതിന്റെ മാംസം തിന്നരുതു; കാളയുടെ ഉടമസ്ഥനോ കുറ്റമില്ലാത്തവന് .

28. 'If a bull gores someone to death, it is to be stoned, and its flesh shall not be eaten; but its owner is not to be punished.

29. എന്നാല് ആ കാള മുമ്പെ തന്നേ കുത്തുന്നതായും ഉടമസ്ഥന് അതു അറിഞ്ഞുമിരിക്കെ അവന് അതിനെ സൂക്ഷിക്കായ്കകൊണ്ടു അതു ഒരു പുരുഷനെയോ സ്ത്രീയെയോ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞാല് ആ കാളയെ കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞു കൊല്ലേണം; അതിന്റെ ഉടമസ്ഥനും മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.

29. But if the bull had been in the habit of attacking people and its owner had been warned, but did not keep it penned up---then if it gores someone to death, it is to be stoned, and its owner is to be put to death also.

30. ഉദ്ധാരണ ദ്രവ്യം അവന്റെ മോല് ചുമത്തിയാല് തന്റെ ജീവന്റെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പിന്നായി തന്റെ മേല് ചുമത്തിയതു ഒക്കെയും അവന് കൊടുക്കേണം.

30. However, if the owner is allowed to pay a fine to save his life, he must pay the full amount required.

31. അതു ഒരു ബാലനെ കുത്തിയാലും ഒരു ബാലയെ കുത്തിയാലും ഈ ന്യായപ്രകാരം അവനോടു ചെയ്യേണം.

31. If the bull kills a boy or a girl, the same rule applies.

32. കാള ഒരു ദാസനെയോ ദാസിയെയോ കുത്തിയാല് അവന് അവരുടെ ഉടമസ്ഥന്നു മുപ്പതു ശേക്കെല് വെള്ളി കൊടുക്കേണം; കാളയെ കൊന്നുകളകയും വേണം.

32. If the bull kills a male or female slave, its owner shall pay the owner of the slave thirty pieces of silver, and the bull shall be stoned to death.

33. ഒരുത്തന് ഒരു കുഴി തുറന്നുവെക്കുകയോ കുഴി കുഴിച്ചു അതിനെ മൂടാതിരിക്കയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടു അതില് ഒരു കാളയോ കഴുതയോ വീണാല്,

33. 'If someone takes the cover off a pit or if he digs one and does not cover it, and a bull or a donkey falls into it,

34. കുഴിയുടെ ഉടമസ്ഥന് വലികൊടുത്തു അതിന്റെ യജമാനന്നു തൃപ്തിവരുത്തേണം; എന്നാല് ചത്തുപോയതു അവന്നുള്ളതായിരിക്കേണം.

34. he must pay for the animal. He is to pay the money to the owner and may keep the dead animal.

35. ഒരുത്തന്റെ കാള മറ്റൊരുത്തന്റെ കാളയെ കുത്തീട്ടു അതു ചത്തുപോയാല് അവര് ജീവനോടിരിക്കുന്ന കാളയെ വിറ്റു അതിന്റെ വില പകുത്തെടുക്കേണം; ചത്തുപോയതിനെയും പകുത്തെടുക്കേണം.

35. If someone's bull kills someone else's bull, the two of them shall sell the live bull and divide the money; they shall also divide up the meat from the dead animal.

36. അല്ലെങ്കില് ആ കാള മുമ്പെ തന്നേ കുത്തുന്നതു എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടും ഉടമസ്ഥന് അതിനെ സൂക്ഷിക്കാതിരുന്നു എങ്കില് അവന് കാളെക്കു പകരം കാളയെ കൊടുക്കേണം; എന്നാല് ചത്തുപോയതു അവന്നുള്ളതായിരിക്കേണം.

36. But if it was known that the bull had been in the habit of attacking and its owner did not keep it penned up, he must make good the loss by giving the other man a live bull, but he may keep the dead animal.
