1. അനന്തരം യഹോവ മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാല് നീയും മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു നീ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ജനവും ഇവിടെ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു, നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കു കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു ഞാന് അബ്രാഹാമിനോടും യിസ്ഹാക്കിനോടും യാക്കോബിനോടും സത്യംചെയ്ത ദേശത്തേക്കു,

1. And the LORD said unto Moses: depart and go hence: both thou and the people which thou hast brought out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I swore unto Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, saying: unto thy seed I will give it.

2. പാലും തേനും ഒഴുകുന്ന ദേശത്തേക്കു, തന്നേ, പോകുവിന് . ഞാന് ഒരു ദൂതനെ നിനക്കു മുമ്പായി അയക്കും; കനാന്യന് , അമോര്യ്യന് , ഹിത്യന് , പെരിസ്യന് , ഹിവ്യന് , യെബൂസ്യന് എന്നിവരെ ഞാന് ഔടിച്ചുകളയും.

2. And I will send an angel before thee, and will cast out the Cananites, the Amorites, the Hethites, the Pherezites, the Hevites, and the Jebusites:

3. വഴിയില്വെച്ചു ഞാന് നിന്നെ നശിപ്പിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് നിന്റെ നടുവില് നടക്കയില്ല; നീ ദുശ്ശാഠ്യമുള്ള ജനം ആകുന്നു.

3. that thou mayst go in to a land that floweth with milk and honey. But I will not go among you myself, for ye are a stiffnecked people: lest I consume you by the way.

4. ദോഷകരമായ ഈ വചനം കേട്ടപ്പോള് ജനം ദുഃഖിച്ചു; ആരും തന്റെ ആഭരണം ധരിച്ചതുമില്ല.

4. And when the people heard this evil tidings, they sorrowed: and no man did put on his best raiment.

5. നിങ്ങള് ദുശ്ശാഠ്യമുള്ള ജനം ആകുന്നു; ഞാന് ഒരു നിമിഷനേരം നിന്റെ നടുവില് നടന്നാല് നിന്നെ സംഹരിച്ചുകളയും; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ നിന്റെ ആഭരണം നീക്കിക്കളക എന്നിങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല് മക്കളോടു പറക എന്നു യഹോവ മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.

5. And the LORD spake unto Moses, say unto the children of Israel: ye are a stiffnecked people: I must come once suddenly upon you, and make an end of you. But now put your goodly raiment from you, that I may wete what to do unto you.

6. അങ്ങനെ ഹോരേബ് പര്വ്വതത്തിങ്കല് തുടങ്ങി യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് ആഭരണം ധരിച്ചില്ല.

6. And the children of Israel laid their goodly raiment from them even under the mount Horeb.

7. മോശെ കൂടാരം എടുത്തു പാളയത്തിന്നു പുറത്തു പാളയത്തില്നിന്നു ദൂരത്തു അടിച്ചു; അതിന്നു സമാഗമനക്കുടാരം എന്നു പേര് ഇട്ടു. യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവനെല്ലാം പുറപ്പെട്ടു പാളയത്തിന്നു പുറത്തുള്ള സമാഗമന കൂടാരത്തിലേക്കു ചെന്നു.

7. And Moses took the tabernacle and pitched it without the host, afar off from the host, and called it the tabernacle of witness. And all that would ask any question of the LORD, went out unto the tabernacle of witness which was without the host.

8. മോശെ കൂടാരത്തിലേക്കു പോകുമ്പോള് ജനം ഒക്കെയും എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഒരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ കൂടാരവാതില്ക്കല് നിന്നു, മോശെ കൂടാരത്തിന്നകത്തു കടക്കുവേളം അവനെ നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

8. And when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, all the people rose up and stood every man in his tent door and looked after Moses, until he was gone in to the tabernacle.

9. മോശെ കൂടാരത്തില് കടക്കുമ്പോള് മേഘസ്തംഭം ഇറങ്ങി കൂടാരവാതില്ക്കല് നില്ക്കയും യഹോവ മോശെയോടു സംസാരിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

9. And as soon as Moses was entered into the tabernacle, the clouden pillar descended and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and he talked with Moses.

10. ജനം എല്ലാം കൂടാരവാതില്ക്കല് മേഘസ്തംഭം നിലക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു. ജനം എല്ലാം എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ കൂടാരവാതില്ക്കല്വെച്ചു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

10. And when all the people saw the clouden pillar stand in the tabernacle door, they rose up and worshipped: every man in his tent door.

11. ഒരുത്തന് തന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു പോലെ യഹോവ മോശെയോടു അഭിമുഖമായി സംസാരിച്ചു. പിന്നെ അവന് പാളയത്തിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിവന്നു; അവന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷക്കാരനായ നൂന്റെ പുത്രനായ യോശുവ എന്ന ബാല്യക്കാരനോ കൂടാരത്തെ വിട്ടുപിരിയാതിരുന്നു.

11. And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And when Moses turned again in to the host, the lad Josua his servant the son of Nun departed not out of the tabernacle.

12. മോശെ യഹോവയോടു പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാല്ഈ ജനത്തെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പോക എന്നു നീ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചുവല്ലോ; എങ്കിലും ആരെ എന്നോടുകൂടെ അയക്കുമെന്നു അറിയിച്ചുതന്നില്ല; എന്നാല്ഞാന് നിന്നെ അടുത്തു അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; എനിക്കു നിന്നോടു കൃപ തോന്നിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നീ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.

12. And Moses said unto the LORD: see, thou saidest unto me: lead this people forth, but thou shewest me not whom thou wilt send with me. And hast said moreover: I know thee by name and thou hast also found grace in my sight:

13. ആകയാല് എന്നോടു കൃപയുണ്ടെങ്കില് നിന്റെ വഴി എന്നെ അറിയിക്കേണമേ; നിനക്കു എന്നോടു കൃപയുണ്ടാകുവാന്തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാന് നിന്നെ അറിയുമാറാകട്ടെ; ഈ ജാതി നിന്റെ ജനം എന്നു ഔര്ക്കേണമേ.

13. Now therefore, if I have found favour in thy sight, then shew me thy way and let me know thee: that I may find grace in thy sight. And look on this also, how that this nation is thy people.

14. അതിന്നു അവന് എന്റെ സാന്നിദ്ധ്യം നിന്നോടുകൂടെ പോരും; ഞാന് നിനക്കു സ്വസ്ഥത നലകും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

14. And he said: my presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

15. അവന് അവനോടുതിരുസാന്നിദ്ധ്യം എന്നോടുകൂടെ പോരുന്നില്ല എങ്കില് ഞങ്ങളെ ഇവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കരുതേ.

15. And he said: If thy presence go not with me, carry us not hence,

16. എന്നോടും നിന്റെ ജനത്തോടും കൃപ ഉണ്ടെന്നുള്ളതു ഏതിനാല് അറിയും? നീ ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ പോരുന്നതിനാലല്ലയോ? അങ്ങനെ ഞാനും നിന്റെ ജനവും ഭൂതലത്തിലുള്ള സകലജാതികളിലുംവെച്ചു വിശേഷതയുള്ളവരായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. for how shall it be known now that both I and thy people have found favour in thy sight, but in that thou goest with us: that both I and thy people have a preeminence before all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

17. യഹോവ മോശെയോടുനീ പറഞ്ഞ ഈ വാക്കുപോലെ ഞാന് ചെയ്യും; എനിക്കു നിന്നോടു കൃപ തോന്നിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് നിന്നെ അടുത്തു അറിഞ്ഞുമിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

17. And the LORD said unto Moses: I will do this also that thou hast said, for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.

18. അപ്പോള് അവന് നിന്റെ തേജസ്സു എനിക്കു കാണിച്ചു തരേണമേ എന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

18. And he said: I beseech thee, shew me thy glory:

19. അതിന്നു അവന് ഞാന് എന്റെ മഹിമ ഒക്കെയും നിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ കടക്കുമാറാക്കി യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തെ നിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഘോഷിക്കും; കൃപ ചെയ്വാന് എനിക്കു മനസ്സുള്ളവനോടു ഞാന് കൃപ ചെയ്യും; കരുണ കാണിപ്പാന് എനിക്കു മനസ്സുള്ളവന്നു ഞാന് കരുണ കാണിക്കും എന്നരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

19. And he said: I will make all my good go before thee, and I will be called in this name Jehovah(Iehouah) before thee, and will shew mercy to whom I shew mercy, and will have compassion on whom I have compassion.

20. നിനക്കു എന്റെ മുഖം കാണ്മാന് കഴികയില്ല; ഒരു മനുഷ്യനും എന്നെ കണ്ടു ജീവനോടെ ഇരിക്കയില്ല എന്നും അവന് കല്പിച്ചു.

20. And he said furthermore: thou mayst not see my face, for there shall no man see me and live.

21. ഇതാ, എന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഒരു സ്ഥലം ഉണ്ടു; അവിടെ ആ പാറമേല് നീ നില്ക്കേണം.

21. And the LORD said: behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock,

22. എന്റെ തേജസ്സു കടന്നുപോകുമ്പോള് ഞാന് നിന്നെ പാറയുടെ ഒരു പിളര്പ്പില് ആക്കി ഞാന് കടന്നുപോകുവോളം എന്റെ കൈകൊണ്ടു നിന്നെ മറെക്കും.

22. and while my glory goeth forth I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will put mine hand upon thee while I pass by.

23. പിന്നെ എന്റെ കൈ നീക്കും; നീ എന്റെ പിന് ഭാഗം കാണും; എന്റെ മുഖമോ കാണാവതല്ല എന്നും യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

23. And then I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
