1. ജ്ഞാനമുള്ള മകന് അപ്പനെ സന്തോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; ഭോഷനായ മകന് അമ്മെക്കു വ്യസനഹേതുവാകുന്നു.

1. The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father; But a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

2. ദുഷ്ടതയാല് സമ്പാദിച്ച നിക്ഷേപങ്ങള് ഉപകരിക്കുന്നില്ല; നീതിയോ മരണത്തില്നിന്നു വിടുവിക്കുന്നു.

2. Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; But righteousness delivereth from death.

3. യഹോവ നീതിമാനെ പട്ടിണി കിടത്തുകയില്ല; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ കൊതിയോ അവന് തള്ളിക്കളയുന്നു.

3. Jehovah will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish; But he thrusteth away the desire of the wicked.

4. മടിയുള്ള കൈകൊണ്ടു പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നവന് ദരിദ്രനായ്തീരുന്നു; ഉത്സാഹിയുടെ കയ്യോ സമ്പത്തുണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.

4. He becometh poor that worketh with a slack hand; But the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

5. വേനല്ക്കാലത്തു ശേഖരിച്ചുവെക്കുന്നവന് ബുദ്ധിമാന് ; കൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്തു ഉറങ്ങുന്നവനോ നാണംകെട്ടവന് .

5. He that gathereth in summer is a wise son; [But] he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

6. നീതിമാന്റെ ശിരസ്സിന്മേല് അനുഗ്രഹങ്ങള് വരുന്നു; എന്നാല് ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വായെ സാഹസംമൂടുന്നു.

6. Blessings are upon the head of the righteous; But violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

7. നീതിമാന്റെ ഔര്മ്മ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടതു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ പേരോ കെട്ടുപോകും.

7. The memory of the righteous is blessed; But the name of the wicked shall rot.

8. ജ്ഞാനഹൃദയന് കല്പനകളെ കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നു; വിടുവായനായ ഭോഷനോ വീണുപോകും.

8. The wise in heart will receive commandments; But a prating fool shall fall.

9. നേരായി നടക്കുന്നവന് നിര്ഭയമായി നടക്കുന്നു; നടപ്പില് വക്രതയുള്ളവനോ വെളിപ്പെട്ടുവരും.

9. He that walketh uprightly walketh surely; But he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

10. കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു ആംഗ്യം കാട്ടുന്നവന് ദുഃഖം വരുത്തുന്നു; തുറന്നു ശാസിക്കുന്നവനോ സമാധാനം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.

10. He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow; But a prating fool shall fall.

11. നീതിമാന്റെ വായ് ജീവന്റെ ഉറവാകുന്നു. എന്നാല് ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വായെ സാഹസംമൂടുന്നു.

11. The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life; But violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

12. പക വഴക്കുകള്ക്കു കാരണം ആകുന്നു; സ്നേഹമോ, സകലലംഘനങ്ങളെയും മൂടുന്നു.

12. Hatred stirreth up strifes; But love covereth all transgressions.

13. വിവേകിയുടെ അധരങ്ങളില് ജ്ഞാനം ഉണ്ടു; ബുദ്ധിഹീനന്റെ മുതുകിന്നോ വടികൊള്ളാം.

13. In the lips of him that hath discernment wisdom is found; But a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

14. ജ്ഞാനികള് പരിജ്ഞാനം അടക്കിവെക്കുന്നു; ഭോഷന്റെ വായോ അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന നാശം.

14. Wise men lay up knowledge; But the mouth of the foolish is a present destruction.

15. ധനവാന്റെ സമ്പത്തു, അവന്നു ഉറപ്പുള്ളോരു പട്ടണം; എളിയവരുടെ നാശമോ അവരുടെ ദാരിദ്ര്യം തന്നേ.

15. The rich man's wealth is his strong city: The destruction of the poor is their poverty.

16. നീതിമാന്റെ സമ്പാദ്യം ജീവഹേതുവും ദുഷ്ടന്റെ ആദായം പാപകാരണവും ആകുന്നു.

16. The labor of the righteous [tendeth] to life; The increase of the wicked, to sin.

17. പ്രബോധനം പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നവന് ജീവമാര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; ശാസന ത്യജിക്കുന്നവനോ ഉഴന്നുനടക്കുന്നു;

17. He is in the way of life that heedeth correction; But he that forsaketh reproof erreth.

18. പക മറെച്ചുവെക്കുന്നവന് പൊളിവായന് ; ഏഷണി പറയുന്നവന് ഭോഷന് .

18. He that hideth hatred is of lying lips; And he that uttereth a slander is a fool.

19. വാക്കു പെരുകിയാല് ലംഘനം ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കയില്ല; അധരങ്ങളെ അടക്കുന്നവനോ ബുദ്ധിമാന് .

19. In the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression; But he that refraineth his lips doeth wisely.

20. നീതിമാന്റെ നാവു മേത്തരമായ വെള്ളി; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ഹൃദയമോ നിസ്സാരം.

20. The tongue of the righteous is [as] choice silver: The heart of the wicked is little worth.

21. നീതിമാന്റെ അധരങ്ങള് പലരെയും പോഷിപ്പിക്കും; ഭോഷന്മാരോ ബുദ്ധിഹീനതയാല് മരിക്കുന്നു.

21. The lips of the righteous feed many; But the foolish die for lack of understanding.

22. യഹോവയുടെ അനുഗ്രഹത്താല് സമ്പത്തുണ്ടാകുന്നു; അദ്ധ്വാനത്താല് അതിനോടു ഒന്നും കൂടുന്നില്ല.

22. The blessing of Jehovah, it maketh rich; And he addeth no sorrow therewith.

23. ദോഷം ചെയ്യുന്നതു ഭോഷന്നു കളിയാകുന്നു; ജ്ഞാനം വിവേകിക്കു അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ.

23. It is as sport to a fool to do wickedness; And [so is] wisdom to a man of understanding.

24. ദുഷ്ടന് പേടിക്കുന്നതു തന്നേ അവന്നു ഭവിക്കും; നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ ആഗ്രഹമോ സാധിക്കും.

24. The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him; And the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

25. ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റു കടന്നുപോകുമ്പോള് ദുഷ്ടന് ഇല്ലാതെയായി; നീതിമാനോ ശാശ്വതമായ അടിസ്ഥാനം ഉള്ളവന് .

25. When the whirlwind passeth, the wicked is no more; But the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

26. ചൊറുക്ക പല്ലിന്നും പുക കണ്ണിന്നും ആകുന്നതുപോലെ മടിയന് തന്നേ അയക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും ആകുന്നു.

26. As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, So is the sluggard to them that send him.

27. യഹോവാഭക്തി ആയുസ്സിനെ ദീര്ഘമാക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ സംവത്സരങ്ങളോ കുറഞ്ഞുപോകും.

27. The fear of Jehovah prolongeth days; But the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

28. നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പ്രത്യാശ സന്തോഷമാകുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ പ്രതീക്ഷെക്കോ ഭംഗം വരും.

28. The hope of the righteous [shall be] gladness; But the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

29. യഹോവയുടെ വഴി നേരുള്ളവന്നു ഒരു ദുര്ഗ്ഗം; ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാര്ക്കോ അതു നാശകരം.

29. The way of Jehovah is a stronghold to the upright; But it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.

30. നീതിമാന് ഒരുനാളും കുലുങ്ങിപ്പോകയില്ല; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരോ ദേശത്തു വസിക്കയില്ല.

30. The righteous shall never be removed; But the wicked shall not dwell in the land.

31. നീതിമാന്റെ വായ് ജ്ഞാനം മുളെപ്പിക്കുന്നു; വക്രതയുള്ള നാവോ ഛേദിക്കപ്പെടും.

31. The mouth of the righteous bringeth forth wisdom; But the perverse tongue shall be cut off.

32. നീതിമാന്റെ അധരങ്ങള് പ്രസാദകരമായതു അറിയുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വായോ വക്രതയുള്ളതാകുന്നു.

32. The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable; But the mouth of the wicked [speaketh] perverseness.
