1. ജാതികളേ, അടുത്തുവന്നു കേള്പ്പിന് ; വംശങ്ങളേ, ശ്രദ്ധതരുവിന് ; ഭൂമിയും അതിന്റെ നിറവും ഭൂതലവും അതില് മുളെക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും കേള്ക്കട്ടെ.

1. Come near, ye Gentiles, to hear; and hearken, ye peoples; let the earth hear, and all that is therein, the world and all things that come forth of it.

2. യഹോവേക്കു സകലജാതികളോടും കോപവും അവരുടെ സര്വ്വസൈന്യത്തോടും ക്രോധവും ഉണ്ടു; അവന് അവരെ ശപഥാര്പ്പിതമായി കുലെക്കു ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

2. For the indignation of the LORD [is] upon all the Gentiles, and [his] fury upon the entire army of them; he shall destroy them and deliver them to the slaughter.

3. അവരുടെ ഹതന്മാരെ എറിഞ്ഞുകളയും; അവരുടെ ശവങ്ങളില്നിന്നു നാറ്റം പുറപ്പെടും; അവരുടെ രക്തം കൊണ്ടു മലകള് ഒഴുകിപ്പോകും.

3. Their slain shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcasses, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.

4. ആകാശത്തിലെ സൈന്യമെല്ലാം അലിഞ്ഞുപോകും; ആകാശവും ഒരു ചുരുള്പോലെ ചുരുണ്ടുപോകും; അതിനെ സൈന്യമൊക്കെയും മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയുടെ ഇല വാടി പൊഴിയുന്നതുപോലെയും അത്തിവൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെ കായ് വാടി പൊഴിയുന്നതുപോലെയും പൊഴിഞ്ഞുപോകും.

4. And all the host of heavens shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll; and all their host shall fall down as the leaf falls off from the vine and as the [leaf] falls from the fig tree.

5. എന്റെ വാള് സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് ലഹരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു എദോമിന്മേലും എന്റെ ശപഥാര്പ്പിതജാതിയുടെമേലും ന്യായവിധിക്കായി ഇറങ്ങിവരും.

5. For in the heavens my sword shall become drunk; behold, it shall come down in judgment upon Idumea [or Edom] and upon the people of my anathema.

6. യഹോവയുടെ വാള് രക്തം പുരണ്ടും കൊഴുപ്പു പൊതിഞ്ഞും ഇരിക്കുന്നു; കുഞ്ഞാടുകളുടെയും കോലാടുകളുടെയും രക്തം കൊണ്ടും ആട്ടുകൊറ്റന്മാരുടെ മൂത്രപിണ്ഡങ്ങളുടെ കൊഴുപ്പുംകൊണ്ടും തന്നേ; യഹോവേക്കു ബൊസ്രയില് ഒരു യാഗവും എദോംദേശത്തു ഒരു മഹാസംഹാരവും ഉണ്ടു.

6. The sword of the LORD is filled with blood; it is made fat with fatness [and] with the blood of lambs and goats with the fat of the kidneys of rams, for the LORD has a sacrifice in Bozrah and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea.

7. അവയോടുകൂടെ കാട്ടുപോത്തുകളും കാളകളോടുകൂടെ മൂരികളും വീഴും; അവരുടെ ദേശം രക്തം കുടിച്ചു ലഹരി പിടിക്കും; അവരുടെ നിലം കൊഴുപ്പുകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കും.

7. And the unicorns shall fall with them, and the bulls with the calves; and their land shall become drunk with blood, and their dust shall be greased with fatness.

8. അതു യഹോവ പ്രതികാരം നടത്തുന്ന ദിവസവും സീയോന്റെ വ്യവഹാരത്തില് പ്രതിഫലം കൊടുക്കുന്ന സംവത്സരവും ആകുന്നു.

8. For [it shall be] the day of the LORD'S vengeance [and] the year of recompenses for the controversy of Zion.

9. അവിടത്തെ തോടുകള് കീലായും മണ്ണു ഗന്ധകമായും നിലം കത്തുന്ന കീലായും ഭവിക്കും.

9. And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into sulphur, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.

10. രാവും പകലും അതു കെടുകയില്ല; അതിന്റെ പുക സദാകാലം പൊങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കും; തലമുറതലമുറയായി അതു ശൂന്യമായ്ക്കിടക്കും; ഒരുത്തനും ഒരുനാളും അതില്കൂടി കടന്നു പോകയുമില്ല.

10. It shall not be quenched night nor day; its smoke shall go up for ever; from generation to generation it shall lie waste; no one shall pass through it for ever and ever.

11. വേഴാമ്പലും മുള്ളന് പന്നിയും അതിനെ കൈവശമാക്കും; മൂങ്ങയും മലങ്കാക്കയും അതില് പാര്ക്കും; അവന് അതിന്മേല് പാഴിന്റെ നൂലും ശൂന്യത്തിന്റെ തൂക്കുകട്ടിയും പിടിക്കും.

11. But the cormorant and the bittern shall possess it; the owl also and the raven shall dwell in it; and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion and the level of desolation.

12. അതിലെ കുലീനന്മാര് ആരും രാജത്വം ഘോഷിക്കയില്ല; അതിലെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര് എല്ലാവരും നാസ്തിയായ്പോകും.

12. They shall call the princes thereof, princes without a kingdom; and all her great ones shall be nothing.

13. അതിന്റെ അരമനകളില് മുള്ളും അതിന്റെ കോട്ടകളില് തൂവയും ഞെരിഞ്ഞിലും മുളെക്കും; അതു കുറുക്കന്മാര്ക്കും പാര്പ്പിടവും ഒട്ടകപ്പക്ഷികള്ക്കു താവളവും ആകും.

13. And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof; and it shall be a habitation of dragons [and] a court for young owls.

14. മരുമൃഗങ്ങളും ചെന്നായ്ക്കളും തമ്മില് എതിര്പ്പെടും; വനഭൂതം വനഭൂതത്തെ വിളിക്കും; അവിടെ വേതാളം കിടക്കുകയും വിശ്രാമം പ്രാപിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

14. The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl shall have his seat there and find for himself a place of rest.

15. അവിടെ അസ്ത്രനാഗം കൂടുണ്ടാക്കി മുട്ടയിട്ടു പൊരുന്നി കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ തന്റെ നിഴലിന് കീഴെ ചേര്ത്തുകൊള്ളും; അവിടെ പരുന്തു അതതിന്റെ ഇണയോടു കൂടും.

15. There shall the great owl make his nest and conserve [his eggs] and hatch his young and gather them under his wings; there shall the vultures also be gathered, each one with his mate.

16. യഹോവയുടെ പുസ്തകത്തില് അന്വേഷിച്ചു വായിച്ചു നോക്കുവിന് ; അവയില് ഒന്നും കാണാതിരിക്കയില്ല; ഒന്നിന്നും ഇണ ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കയുമില്ല; അവന്റെ വായല്ലോ കല്പിച്ചതു; അവന്റെ ആത്മാവത്രേ അവയെ കൂട്ടിവരുത്തിയതു.

16. Seek ye out [that which is written in] the book of the LORD and read; if one of these is lacking, none is missing with his mate, for his mouth has commanded it, and his same Spirit has gathered them.

17. അവന് അവെക്കായി ചീട്ടിട്ടു, അവന്റെ കൈ അതിനെ അവേക്കു ചരടുകൊണ്ടു വിഭാഗിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു; അവ സദാകാലത്തേക്കും അതിനെ കൈവശമാക്കി തലമുറതലമുറയായി അതില് പാര്ക്കും.

17. And he has cast the lot for them, and his hand has divided it unto them by line; therefore they shall have it as an inheritance for ever; from generation to generation they shall dwell therein.:
