1. യോശീയാവിന്റെ മകനായി യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീമിന്റെ നാലാം ആണ്ടില്, നേര്യ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ ബാരൂക് ഈ വചനങ്ങളെ യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ വാമൊഴിപ്രകാരം ഒരു പുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയപ്പോള് യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകന് അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞ വചനം എന്തെന്നാല്

1. The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews who dwell in the land of Egypt, who dwell at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying,

2. ബാരൂക്കേ, നിന്നോടു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു

2. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem and upon all the cities of Judah; and behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein,

3. യഹോവ എന്റെ വേദനയോടു ദുഃഖം കൂട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം! ഞാന് എന്റെ ഞരക്കംകൊണ്ടു തളര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ഒരു ആശ്വാസവും കാണുന്നില്ല എന്നു നീ പറയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

3. because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke Me to anger, in that they went to burn incense and to serve other gods whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers.

4. ഞാന് പണിതതു ഞാന് തന്നേ ഇടിച്ചുകളയുന്നു; ഞാന് നട്ടതു ഞാന് തന്നേ പറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു; ഭൂമിയില് എങ്ങും അതു അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ.

4. Nevertheless, I sent unto you all My servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, `Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.'

5. എന്നാല് നീ നിനക്കായിട്ടു വലിയ കാര്യങ്ങളെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നുവോ? ആഗ്രഹിക്കരുതു; ഞാന് സര്വ്വജഡത്തിന്നും അനര്ത്ഥം വരുത്തും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു; എങ്കിലും നീ പോകുന്ന എല്ലാ ഇടത്തും ഞാന് നിന്റെ ജീവനെ നിനക്കു കൊള്ളപോലെ തരും എന്നിങ്ങനെ നീ അവനോടു പറയേണം എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

5. But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.
