1. സിദെക്കീയാവു വാണുതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോ അവന്നു ഇരുപത്തൊന്നു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവ പതിനൊന്നു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമി വാണു; അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു ഹമൂത എന്നു പേ; അവ ലിബ്നക്കാരനായ യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ മക ആയിരുന്നു.

1. ZEDEKIAH WAS twenty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah [not the prophet] of Libnah. [II Kings 24:18-25:21.]

2. യെഹോയാക്കീം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും അവ യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.

2. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.

3. യഹോവയുടെ കോപം ഹേതുവായി യെരൂശലേമിന്നും യെഹൂദെക്കും അങ്ങനെ ഭവിച്ചു; അവ ഒടുവി അവരെ തന്റെ സന്നിധിയിനിന്നു തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞു; എന്നാ സിദെക്കീയാവു ബാബേ രാജാവിനോടു മത്സരിച്ചു.

3. For all this came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah because of the anger of the Lord, and [in the end] He cast them out from His presence. And Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

4. അവന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ ഒമ്പതാം ആണ്ടി പത്താം മാസം പത്താം തിയ്യതി, ബാബേരാജാവായ നെബൂഖദ്നേസ തന്റെ സവ്വസൈന്യവുമായി യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ നേരെ വന്നു പാളയമിറങ്ങി അതിന്നെതിരെ ചുറ്റും കൊത്തളങ്ങ പണിതു.

4. And in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem; and they pitched against it and built moveable towers and siege mounds against it round about. [Jer. 39:1-10.]

5. അങ്ങനെ സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവിന്റെ പതിനൊന്നാം ആണ്ടുവരെ നഗരം നിരോധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.

5. So the city was besieged until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah. [II Chron. 36:11-13.]

6. നാലാം മാസം ഒമ്പതാം തിയ്യതി ക്ഷാമം നഗരത്തി കലശലായി ദേശത്തെ ജനത്തിന്നു ആഹാരമില്ലാതെ ഭവിച്ചു.

6. And in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the famine was so severe in the city that there was no bread for the people of the land.

7. അപ്പോ നഗരത്തിന്റെ മതി ഒരിടം പൊളിച്ചുതുറന്നു; കല്ദയ നഗരം വളഞ്ഞിരിക്കെ പടയാളിക ഒക്കെയും രാത്രിസമയത്തു രാജാവിന്റെ തോട്ടത്തിന്നരികെ രണ്ടു മതിലുകളുടെ മദ്ധ്യേയുള്ള പടിവാതിക്ക കൂടി നഗരം വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അരാബയിലേക്കുള്ള വഴിയായി ഓടിപ്പോയി.

7. Then the city [wall] was broken through, so that all the men of war might flee, and they went forth out of the city by night [as Ezekiel had foretold] by way of the gate between the two walls by the king's garden, though the Chaldeans were round about the city. And they [the Jewish soldiers fled] by way of the Arabah (the Jordan Valley). [Ezek. 12:12.]

8. എന്നാ കല്ദയരുടെ സൈന്യം രാജാവിനെ പിന്തുടന്നു, യെരീഹോസമഭൂമിയിവെച്ചു സിദെക്കീയാവോടു എത്തി; അവന്റെ സൈന്യമൊക്കെയും അവനെ വിട്ടു ചിതറിപ്പോയി.

8. But the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.

9. അവ രാജാവിനെ പിടിച്ചു, ഹമാത്ത് ദേശത്തിലെ രിബ്ളയി ബാബേരാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്ക കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു; അവ അവന്നു വിധി കല്പിച്ചു.

9. Then they seized the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the [Syrian] land of Hamath [on the northern border of Israel], where he pronounced sentence upon him.

10. ബാബേരാജാവു സിദെക്കീയാവിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെ അവ കാകെ കൊന്നു; യെഹൂദാപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും അവ രിബ്ളയിവെച്ചു കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

10. And the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes; he slew also all the princes of Judah at Riblah.

11. പിന്നെ അവ സിദെക്കീയാവിന്റെ കണ്ണു പൊട്ടിച്ചു; ബാബേരാജാവു അവനെ ചങ്ങലകൊണ്ടു ബന്ധിച്ചു ബാബേലിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു ജീവപര്യന്തം കാരാഗൃഹത്തി ആക്കി.

11. Then he put out the eyes of Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him with shackles and carried him to Babylon and put him in prison [mill] till the day of his death. [Ezek. 12:13.]

12. അഞ്ചാം മാസം പത്താം തിയ്യതി, ബാബേരാജാവായ നെബൂഖദ്നേസരിന്റെ പത്തൊമ്പതാം ആണ്ടി തന്നേ, ബാബേരാജാവിന്റെ തിരുമുമ്പി നിലക്കുന്നവനും അകമ്പടിനായകനുമായ നെബൂസ-അദാ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു വന്നു.

12. Now in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, there came to Jerusalem Nebuzaradan captain of the guard, who stood and served before the king of Babylon.

13. അവ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയവും രാജധാനിയും ചുട്ടു, യെരൂശലേമിലെ എല്ലാ വീടുകളും പ്രധാനഭവനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും തീ വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

13. And he burned the house of the Lord and the king's house and all the houses of Jerusalem; every great house he consumed with fire.

14. അകമ്പടിനായകനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന കല്ദയസൈന്യമൊക്കെയും യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ ചുറ്റുമുള്ള മതിലുകളെല്ലാം ഇടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

14. And all the army of the Chaldeans who were with the captain of the guard broke down all the walls round about Jerusalem.

15. ജനത്തി എളിയവരായ ചിലരെയും നഗരത്തി ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്ന ജനശിഷ്ടത്തെയും ബാബേരാജാവിനെ ചെന്നു ശരണംപ്രാപിച്ചവരെയും പുരുഷാരത്തി ശേഷിച്ചവരെയും അകമ്പടിനായകനായ നെബൂസ-അദാ ബദ്ധരാക്കി കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

15. Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive some of the poorest of the people and those who were left in the city [at the time it was captured], along with those who went out to the king of Babylon [during the siege] and the remnant of the multitude [the country's working people].

16. എന്നാ അകമ്പടിനായകനായ നെബൂസ-അദാ ദേശത്തെ എളിയവരി ചിലരെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടക്കാരായും കൃഷിക്കാരായും വിട്ടേച്ചുപോയി.

16. But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left some of the poorest of the land to be vinedressers and tillers of the soil.

17. യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ താമ്രസ്തംഭങ്ങളും പീഠങ്ങളും യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ താമ്രംകൊണ്ടുള്ള കടലും കല്ദയ ഉടെച്ചു താമ്രം ഒക്കെയും ബാബേലിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

17. Also the pillars of bronze that belonged to the house of the Lord, and the bronze bases or pedestals [which supported the ten basins] and the bronze Sea or huge laver that were in the house of the Lord, the Chaldeans broke into pieces and carried all the bronze of them to Babylon.

18. കലങ്ങളും ചട്ടുകങ്ങളും കത്രികകളും കിണ്ണങ്ങളും തവികളും ശുശ്രൂഷെക്കുള്ള സകലതാമ്രോപകരണങ്ങളും അവ എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുപോയി.

18. The pots [for carrying away ashes] also and the shovels and the snuffers and the bowls and the spoons and all the vessels of bronze used in the temple service they took away.

19. പാനപാത്രങ്ങളും തീച്ചട്ടികളും കിണ്ണങ്ങളും കലങ്ങളും വിളകൂതണ്ടുകളും തവികളും കുടങ്ങളും പൊന്നുകൊണ്ടുള്ളതും വെള്ളികൊണ്ടുള്ളതും എല്ലാം അകമ്പടിനായക കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

19. Also the small bowls and the firepans and the basins and the pots and the lampstands and the incense cups and the bowls for the drink offerings--whatever was of gold the captain of the guard took away as gold, and whatever was of silver as silver.

20. ശലോമോ രാജാവു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയംവകെക്കു ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ രണ്ടു സ്തംഭവും ഒരു കടലും പീഠങ്ങളുടെ കീഴെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന പന്ത്രണ്ടു താമ്രക്കാളയും തന്നേ; ഈ സകലസാധനങ്ങളുടെയും താമ്രത്തിന്നു തൂക്കമില്ലാതെയിരുന്നു.

20. The two pillars, one Sea or huge laver, and twelve bronze bulls or oxen under the Sea, which King Solomon had made in the house of the Lord--the bronze of all these things was beyond weighing.

21. സ്തംഭങ്ങളോ, ഓരോന്നു പതിനെട്ടു മുഴം ഉയരവും പന്ത്രണ്ടു മുഴം ചുറ്റളവും നാലു വിര കനവും ഉള്ളതായിരുന്നു; അതു പൊള്ളയുമായിരുന്നു.

21. Concerning the pillars, the height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits (twenty-seven feet), and an ornamental molding of twelve cubits (eighteen feet) went around its circumference; it was four fingers thick, and it [the pillar] was hollow.

22. അതിന്മേ താമ്രംകൊണ്ടു ഒരു പോതിക ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; പോതികയുടെ ഉയരം അഞ്ചു മുഴം പോതികമേ ചുറ്റും വലപ്പണിയും മാതളപ്പഴവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; സകലവും താമ്രംകൊണ്ടായിരുന്നു; രണ്ടാമത്തെ സ്തംഭത്തിന്നു ഇതുപോലെയുള്ള പണിയും മാതളപ്പഴവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

22. An upper part or capital of bronze was on top of it. The height of one capital was five cubits (seven and one-half feet), with a network and pomegranates around it, all of bronze. The second pillar also, with its pomegranates, was similar to these.

23. നാലുപുറത്തുംകൂടെ തൊണ്ണൂറ്റാറു മാതളപ്പഴവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു: വലപ്പണിയി ചുറ്റുമുള്ള മാതളപ്പഴം ആകെ നൂറു ആയിരുന്നു.

23. And there were ninety-six pomegranates on the sides; and all the pomegranates upon the network were a hundred round about.

24. അകമ്പടിനായക മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ സെരായാവെയും രണ്ടാം പുരോഹിതനായ സെഫന്യാവെയും മൂന്നു വാതികാവക്കാരെയും പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുപോയി.

24. And the captain of the guard took [as prisoners] Seraiah the chief priest and Zephaniah the second priest and the three keepers of the door.

25. നഗരത്തിനിന്നു അവ യോദ്ധാക്കളുടെ വിചാരകനായ ഒരു ഷണ്ഡനെയും നഗരത്തിവെച്ചു കണ്ട ഏഴു രാജപരിചാരകന്മാരെയും ദേശത്തിലെ ജനത്തെ പടെക്കു ശേഖരിക്കുന്ന സേനാപതിയുടെ രായസക്കാരനെയും നഗരത്തി കണ്ട അറുപതു നാട്ടുപുറക്കാരെയും പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

25. He took also out of the city a court officer who had been overseer of the soldiers, and seven men of them who were next to the king [as advisers] and saw his face, who were found in the city, and the scribe of the prince or captain of the army who mustered the people of the land, and sixty men of the people of the land who were found in the midst of the city.

26. ഇവരെ അകമ്പടിനായകനായ നെബൂസ-അദാ പിടിച്ചു രിബ്ളയി ബാബേരാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്ക കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു.

26. And Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah.

27. ബാബേരാജാവു ഹമാത്ത് ദേശത്തിലെ രിബ്ളയിവെച്ചു അവരെ വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നു; ഇങ്ങനെ യെഹൂദാ സ്വദേശം വിട്ടു പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു പോകേണ്ടിവന്നു.

27. And the king of Babylon smote them and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. Thus Judah was carried away captive out of his own land.

28. നെബൂഖദ്നേസ പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയ ജനം: ഏഴാം ആണ്ടി മൂവായിരത്തിരുപത്തുമൂന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാ;

28. This is the number of people whom Nebuchadrezzar carried away captive: in the seventh year, 3,023 Jews;

29. നെബൂഖദ്നേസരിന്റെ പതിനെട്ടാം ആണ്ടി അവ യെരൂശലേമിനിന്നു പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയ എണ്ണൂറ്റിമുപ്പത്തുരണ്ടു പേ;

29. In the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar, he carried away captive from Jerusalem 832 persons;

30. നെബൂഖദ്നേസരിന്റെ ഇരുപത്തുമൂന്നാം ആണ്ടി, അകമ്പടിനായകനായ നെബൂസ-അദാ പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയ യെഹൂദന്മാ എഴുനൂറ്റി നാല്പത്തഞ്ചുപേ; ഇങ്ങനെ ആകെ നാലായിരത്തറുനൂറു പേരായിരുന്നു.

30. In the twenty-third year of Nebuchadrezzar, Nebuzaradan the captain of the [Babylonian] guard carried away captive of the Jews 745 persons. All the persons were 4,600.

31. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാഖീന്റെ പ്രവാസത്തിന്റെ മുപ്പത്തേഴാമാണ്ടി പന്ത്രണ്ടാം മാസം ഇരുപത്തഞ്ചാം തിയ്യതി ബാബേരാജാവായ എവീ-മെരോദ തന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ ഒന്നാം ആണ്ടി യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാഖീനെ കടാക്ഷിച്ചു കാരാഗൃഹത്തിനിന്നു വിടുവിച്ചു,

31. And in the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin [also called Coniah and Jeconiah] king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-fifth day of the month, Evil-merodach king of Babylon in the first year of his reign lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah [and showed favor to him] and brought him out of prison. [II Kings 25:27-30.]

32. അവനോടു ആദരവായി സംസാരിച്ചു, അവന്റെ ആസനത്തെ തന്നോടു കൂടെ ബാബേലി ഉള്ള രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ ആസനങ്ങക്കു മേലായി വെച്ചു,

32. He spoke kindly to him and gave him a seat above the seats of the kings who were [captives] with him in Babylon,

33. അവന്റെ കാരാഗൃഹവസ്ത്രം മാറ്റി, അവ ജീവപര്യന്തം നിത്യവും അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയി ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചുപോന്നു.

33. Jehoiachin put off his prison garments, and he dined regularly at the king's table all the days of his life.

34. അവന്റെ അഹോവൃത്തിയോ ബാബേരാജാവു അവന്നു അവന്റെ മരണദിവസംവരെ അവന്റെ ജീവകാലമൊക്കെയും നിത്യവൃത്തിക്കു ദിവസം പ്രതിയുള്ള ഓഹരി കൊടുത്തുപോന്നു.

34. And his allowance, a continual one, was given him by the king of Babylon, a portion according to his requirements until the day of his death, all the days of his life.
