1. യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എനിക്കുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

2. മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ, നീ യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹത്തോടു ഒരു കടങ്കഥ പറഞ്ഞു ഒരു ഉപമ പ്രസ്താവിക്കേണ്ടതു;

2. Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable to the house of Israel,

3. യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുവലിയ ചിറകും നീണ്ട തൂവലും ഉള്ളതും പലനിറമായ പപ്പു നിറഞ്ഞതുമായ ഒരു വലിയ കഴുകന് ലെബനോനില് വന്നു ഒരു ദേവദാരുവിന്റെ ശിഖരം എടുത്തു.

3. And say: Thus saith the Lord God: A large eagle with great wings, long-limbed, full of feathers, and of variety, came to Libanus, and took away the marrow of the cedar.

4. അവന് അതിന്റെ ഇളഞ്ചില്ലികളുടെ അറ്റം മുറിച്ചു കച്ചവടമുള്ളോരു ദേശത്തു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു, കച്ചവടക്കാരുടെ പട്ടണത്തില് നട്ടു.

4. He cropped off the top of the twigs thereof: and carried it away into the land of Chanaan, and he set it in a city of merchants.

5. അവന് ദേശത്തിലെ തൈകളില് ഒന്നു എടുത്തു ഒരു വിളനിലത്തു നട്ടു; അവന് അതിനെ വളരെ വെള്ളത്തിന്നരികെ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു അലരിവൃക്ഷംപോലെ നട്ടു.

5. And he took of the seed of the land, and put it in the ground for seed, that it might take a firm root over many waters: he planted it on the surface of the earth.

6. അതു വളര്ന്നു, പൊക്കം കുറഞ്ഞു പടരുന്ന മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയായിത്തീര്ന്നു; അതിന്റെ വള്ളി അവങ്കലേക്കു തിരിയേണ്ടതും അതിന്റെ വേര് അവന്നു കിഴ്പെടേണ്ടതും ആയിരുന്നു; ഇങ്ങനെ അതു മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയായി കൊമ്പുകളെ പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കയും ചില്ലികളെ നീട്ടുകയും ചെയ്തു.

6. And it sprung up and grew into a spreading vine of low stature, and the branches thereof looked towards him: and the roots thereof were under him. So it became a vine, and grew into branches, and shot forth sprigs.

7. എന്നാല് വലിയ ചിറകും വളരെ പപ്പും ഉള്ള മറ്റൊരു വലിയ കഴുകന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന് അതു നനെക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആ മുന്തിരിവള്ളി തന്റെ തടത്തില്നിന്നു വേരുകളെ അവങ്കലേക്കു തിരിച്ചു കൊമ്പുകളെ അവങ്കലേക്കു നീട്ടി.

7. And there was another large eagle, with great wings, and many feathers: and behold this vine, bending as it were her roots towards him, stretched forth her branches to him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation.

8. കൊമ്പുകളെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു ഫലം കായിപ്പാനും നല്ലമുന്തിരിവള്ളി ആയിത്തീരുവാനും തക്കവണ്ണം അതിനെ വളരെ വെള്ളത്തിന്നരികെ നല്ലനിലത്തു നട്ടിരുന്നു.

8. It was planted in a good ground upon many waters, that it might bring forth branches, and bear fruit, that it might become a large vine.

9. ഇതു സാധിക്കുമോ? അതു വാടിപ്പോകത്തക്കവണ്ണം, അതിന്റെ തളിര്ത്ത ഇലകളൊക്കെയും വാടിപ്പോകത്തക്കവണ്ണം തന്നേ, അവന് അതിന്റെ വേരുകളെ മാന്തുകയും കായി പറിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്കില്ലയോ? അതിനെ വേരോടെ പിഴുതുകളയേണ്ടതിന്നു വലിയ ബലമോ വളരെ ജനമോ ആവശ്യമില്ല.

9. Say thou: Thus saith the Lord God: Shall it prosper then? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and strip off its fruit, and dry up all the branches it hath shot forth, and make it wither: and this without a strong arm, or many people, to pluck it up by the root?

10. അതു നട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു സത്യം; അതു തഴെക്കുമോ? കിഴക്കന് കാറ്റു തട്ടുമ്പോള് അതു തീരെ വാടിപ്പോകയില്ലയോ? വളര്ന്ന തടത്തില് തന്നേ അതു ഉണങ്ങിപ്പോകും എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു നീ പറക.

10. Behold, it is planted: shall it prosper then? shall it not be dried up when the burning wind shall touch it, and shall it not wither in the furrows where it grew?

11. യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എനിക്കുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

11. And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

12. ഇതിന്റെ അര്ത്ഥം നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ എന്നു നീ ആ മത്സരഗൃഹത്തോടു ചോദിച്ചിട്ടു അവരോടു പറയേണ്ടതുബാബേല്രാജാവു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു വന്നു അതിന്റെ രാജാവിനെയും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെയും പിടിച്ചു തന്നോടുകൂടെ ബാബേലിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി;

12. Say to the provoking house: Know you not what these things mean? Tell them: Behold the king of Babylon cometh to Jerusalem: and he shall take away the king and the princes thereof, and carry them with him to Babylon.

13. രാജസന്തതിയില് ഒരുത്തനെ അവന് എടുത്തു അവനുമായി ഒരു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്തു അവനെക്കൊണ്ടു സത്യം ചെയ്യിച്ചു;

13. And he shall take one of the king's seed, and make a covenant with him, and take an oath of him. Yea, and he shall take away the mighty men of the land,

14. രാജ്യം തന്നെത്താന് ഉയര്ത്താതെ താണിരുന്നു അവന്റെ ഉടമ്പടി പ്രമാണിച്ചു നിലനിന്നുപോരേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന് ദേശത്തിലെ ബലവാന്മാരെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

14. That it may be a low kingdom and not lift itself up, but keep his covenant, and observe it.

15. എങ്കിലും അവനോടു മത്സരിച്ചു ഇവന് തനിക്കു കുതിരകളെയും വളരെ പടജ്ജനത്തെയും അയച്ചുതരേണമെന്നു പറവാന് ദൂതന്മാരെ മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു അയച്ചുഅവന് കൃതാര്ത്ഥനാകുമോ? ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നവന് തെറ്റി ഒഴിയുമോ? അല്ല, അവന് ഉടമ്പടി ലംഘിച്ചിട്ടു വഴുതിപ്പോകുമോ?

15. But he hath revolted from him and sent ambassadors to Egypt, that it might give him horses, and much people. And shall he that hath done thus prosper, or be saved? and shall he escape that hath broken the covenant?

16. എന്നാണ, അവനെ രാജാവാക്കിയ രാജാവിന്റെ സ്ഥലമായ ബാബേലില്, അവന്റെ അരികെ വെച്ചു തന്നേ, അവന് മരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു; അവനോടു ചെയ്ത സത്യം അവന് ധിക്കരിക്കയും അവനുമായുള്ള ഉടമ്പടി ലംഘിക്കയും ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ.

16. As I live, saith the Lord God: In the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he hath made void, and whose covenant he broke, even in the midst of Babylon shall he die.

17. ബഹുജനത്തെ നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അവര് വാടകോരി കൊത്തളം പണിയുമ്പോള് ഫറവോന് മഹാസൈന്യത്തോടും വലിയ കൂട്ടത്തോടും കൂടെ അവന്നുവേണ്ടി യുദ്ധത്തില് ഒന്നും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കയില്ല.

17. And not with a great army, nor with much people shall Pharao fight against him: when he shall cast up mounts, and build forts, to cut off many souls.

18. അവന് ഉടമ്പടി ലംഘിച്ചു സത്യം ധിക്കരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് കയ്യടിച്ചിട്ടും ഇതൊക്കെയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ആകയാല് അവന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകയില്ല.

18. For he had despised the oath, breaking his covenant, and behold he hath given his hand: and having done all these things, he shall not escape.

19. അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഎന്നാണ, അവന് ധിക്കരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന എന്റെ സത്യവും ലംഘിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന എന്റെ ഉടമ്പടിയും ഞാന് അവന്റെ തലമേല് വരുത്തും.

19. Therefore thus saith the Lord God: As I live, I will lay upon his head the oath he hath despised, and the covenant he hath broken.

20. ഞാന് എന്റെ വല അവന്റെമേല് വീശും; അവന് എന്റെ കണിയില് അകപ്പെടും; ഞാന് അവനെ ബാബേലിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു, അവന് എന്നോടു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന ദ്രോഹത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അവിടെവെച്ചു അവനോടു വ്യവഹരിക്കും.

20. And I will spread my net over him, and he shall be taken in my net: and I will bring him into Babylon, and will judge him there for the transgression by which he hath despised me.

21. അവന്റെ ശ്രേഷ്ഠ യോദ്ധാക്കള് ഒക്കെയും അവന്റെ എല്ലാപടക്കൂട്ടങ്ങളും വാളാല് വീഴും; ശേഷിപ്പുള്ളവരോ നാലു ദിക്കിലേക്കും ചിതറിപ്പോകും; യഹോവയായ ഞാന് അതു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയും.

21. And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword: and the residue shall be scattered into every wind: and you shall know that I the Lord have spoken.

22. യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാനും ഉയരമുള്ള ദേവദാരുവിന്റെ ഒരു ശിഖരം എടുത്തു നടും; അതിന്റെ ഇളഞ്ചില്ലികളുടെ അറ്റത്തുനിന്നു ഇളയതായിരിക്കുന്ന ഒന്നു ഞാന് മുറിച്ചെടുത്തു ഉയരവും ഉന്നതവുമായുള്ള ഒരു പര്വ്വതത്തില് നടും.

22. Thus saith the Lord God: I myself will take of the marrow of the high cedar, and will set it: I will crop off a tender twig from the top of the branches thereof, and I will plant it on a mountain high and eminent.

23. യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ഉയര്ന്ന പര്വ്വതത്തില് ഞാന് അതു നടും; അതു കൊമ്പുകളെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു ഫലം കായിച്ചു ഭംഗിയുള്ളോരു ദേവദാരുവായിത്തീരും; അതിന്റെ കീഴില് പലവിധം ചിറകുള്ള പക്ഷികളൊക്കെയും പാര്ക്കും; അതിന്റെ കൊമ്പുകളുടെ നിഴലില് അവ വസിക്കും.

23. On the high mountains of Israel will I plant it, and it shall shoot forth into branches, and shall bear fruit, and it shall become a great cedar: and all birds shall dwell under it, and every fowl shall make its nest under the shadow of the branches thereof.

24. യഹോവയായ ഞാന് ഉയരമുള്ള വൃക്ഷത്തെ താഴ്ത്തി താണിരുന്ന വൃക്ഷത്തെ ഉയര്ത്തുകയും പച്ചയായുള്ള വൃക്ഷത്തെ ഉണക്കി ഉണങ്ങിയ വൃക്ഷത്തെ തഴെപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു കാട്ടിലെ സകലവൃക്ഷങ്ങളും അറിയും; യഹോവയായ ഞാന് അതു പ്രസ്താവിച്ചും അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

24. And all the trees of the country shall know that I the Lord have brought down the high tree, and exalted the low tree: and have dried up the green tree, and have caused the dry tree to flourish. I the Lord have spoken and have done it.
