1. അനന്തരം ഞാന് കേള്ക്കെ അവന് അത്യുച്ചത്തില് വിളിച്ചു നഗരത്തിന്റെ സന്ദര്ശനങ്ങളെ അടുത്തു വരുമാറാക്കുവിന് ; ഔരോരുത്തനും നാശകരമായ ആയുധം കയ്യില് എടുക്കട്ടെ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

1. And He crieth in mine ears -- a loud voice -- saying, 'Drawn near have inspectors of the city, and each his destroying weapon in his hand.'

2. അപ്പോള് ആറു പുരുഷന്മാര്, ഔരോരുത്തനും വെണ്മഴു കയ്യില് എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു വടക്കോട്ടുള്ള മേലത്തെ പടിവാതിലിന്റെ വഴിയായി വന്നു; അവരുടെ നടുവില് ശണവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു അരയില് എഴുത്തുകാരന്റെ മഷിക്കുപ്പിയുമായി ഒരുത്തന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവര് അകത്തു ചെന്നു താമ്രയാഗപീഠത്തിന്റെ അരികെ നിന്നു.

2. And lo, six men are coming from the way of the upper gate, that is facing the north, and each his slaughter-weapon in his hand, and one man in their midst is clothed with linen, and a scribe's inkhorn at his loins, and they come in, and stand near the brazen altar.

3. യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മഹത്വം, അതു ഇരുന്നിരുന്ന കെരൂബിന്മേല്നിന്നു ആലയത്തിന്റെ ഉമ്മരപ്പടിക്കല് വന്നിരുന്നു; പിന്നെ അവന് , ശണവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു അരയില് എഴുത്തുകാരന്റെ മഷിക്കുപ്പിയുമായി നിന്നിരുന്ന പുരുഷനെ വിളിച്ചു.

3. And the honour of the God of Israel hath gone up from off the cherub, on which it hath been, unto the threshold of the house.

4. അവനോടു യഹോവനീ നഗരത്തിന്റെ നടുവില്, യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ നടുവില്കൂടി ചെന്നു, അതില് നടക്കുന്ന സകലമ്ളേച്ഛതകളും നിമിത്തം നെടുവീര്പ്പിട്ടു കരയുന്ന പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ നെറ്റികളില് ഒരു അടയാളം ഇടുക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

4. And He calleth unto the man who is clothed with linen, who hath the scribe's inkhorn at his loins, and Jehovah saith unto him, 'Pass on into the midst of the city, into the midst of Jerusalem, and thou hast made a mark on the foreheads of the men who are sighing and who are groaning for all the abominations that are done in its midst.'

5. മറ്റേവരോടു ഞാന് കേള്ക്കെ അവന് നിങ്ങള് അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ നഗരത്തില്കൂടി ചെന്നു വെട്ടുവിന് ! നിങ്ങളുടെ കണ്ണിന്നു ആദരവു തോന്നരുതു; നിങ്ങള് കരുണ കാണിക്കയുമരുതു.

5. And to the others he said in mine ears, 'Pass on into the city after him, and smite; your eye doth not pity, nor do ye spare;

6. വൃദ്ധന്മാരെയും യൌവനക്കാരെയും കന്യകമാരെയും പൈതങ്ങളെയും സ്ത്രീകളെയും കൊന്നുകളവിന് ! എന്നാല് അടയാളമുള്ള ഒരുത്തനെയും തൊടരുതു; എന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തില് തന്നേ തുടങ്ങുവിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ അവര് ആലയത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന മൂപ്പന്മാരുടെ ഇടയില് തുടങ്ങി.

6. aged, young man, and virgin, and infant, and women, ye do slay -- to destruction; and against any man on whom [is] the mark ye do not go nigh, and from My sanctuary ye begin.'

7. അവന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് ആലയത്തെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കി, പ്രാകാരങ്ങളെ നിഹതന്മാരെക്കൊണ്ടു നിറെപ്പിന് ; പുറപ്പെടുവിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ അവര് പുറപ്പെട്ടു, നഗരത്തില് സംഹാരം നടത്തി.

7. And they begin among the aged men who [are] before the house, and He saith unto them, 'Defile the house, and fill the courts with the wounded, go forth.' And they have gone forth and have smitten in the city.

8. അവരെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞശേഷം ഞാന് മാത്രം ശേഷിച്ചു; ഞാന് കവിണ്ണുവീണു; അയ്യോ, യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവേ, യെരൂശലേമിന്മേല് നിന്റെ ക്രോധം പകരുന്നതിനാല് യിസ്രായേലില് ശേഷിപ്പുള്ളവരെ ഒക്കെയും സംഹരിക്കുമോ? എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. And it cometh to pass, as they are smiting, and I -- I am left -- that I fall on my face, and cry, and say, 'Ah, Lord Jehovah, art Thou destroying all the remnant of Israel, in Thy pouring out Thy wrath on Jerusalem?'

9. അതിന്നു അവന് എന്നോടുയിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെയും യെഹൂദാഗൃഹത്തിന്റെയും അകൃത്യം ഏറ്റവും വലുതായിരിക്കുന്നു; ദേശം രക്തപാതകംകൊണ്ടും നഗരം അന്യായംകൊണ്ടും നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവ ദേശത്തെ വിട്ടുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവ കാണുന്നില്ല എന്നു അവര് പറയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

9. And He saith unto me, 'The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah [is] very very great, and the land is full of blood, and the city hath been full of perverseness, for they have said: Jehovah hath forsaken the land, and Jehovah is not seeing.

10. ഞാനോ എന്റെ കണ്ണിന്നു ആദരവു തോന്നാതെയും ഞാന് കരുണ കാണിക്കാതെയും അവരുടെ നടപ്പിന്നു തക്കവണ്ണം അവരുടെ തലമേല് പകരം കൊടുക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

10. And I also, Mine eye doth not pity, nor do I spare; their way on their own head I have put.'

11. ശണവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു അരയില് മഷിക്കുപ്പിയുമായുള്ള പുരുഷന് എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഞാന് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു വസ്തുത ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

11. And lo, the man clothed with linen, at whose loins [is] the inkhorn, is bringing back word, saying, 'I have done as Thou hast commanded me.'
