1. എഫ്രയീം സംസാരിച്ചപ്പോള് വിറയല് ഉണ്ടായി; അവന് യിസ്രായേലില് മികെച്ചവനായിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് ബാല്മുഖാന്തരം കുറ്റം ചെയ്തപ്പോള് അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയി.

1. When Ephraim spoke trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died.

2. ഇപ്പോഴോ, അവര് അധികമധികം പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നു; അവര് വെള്ളികൊണ്ടു ബിംബങ്ങളെയും ബോധിച്ചതുപോലെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെയും ഉണ്ടാക്കി; ഇവയൊക്കെയും കൌശലപ്പണിക്കാരുടെ പണിയത്രേ; അവയോടു അവര് സംസാരിക്കുന്നു; ബലികഴിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യര് കാളക്കിടാക്കളെ ചുംബിക്കുന്നു.

2. And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, [and] idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.

3. അതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് പ്രഭാതമേഘംപോലെയും കാലത്തെ ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്ന മഞ്ഞുപോലെയും കളത്തില്നിന്നു കൊടുങ്കാറ്റു പറപ്പിക്കുന്ന പതിര്പോലെയും പുകകൂഴലില്നിന്നു പൊങ്ങുന്ന പുകപോലെയും ഇരിക്കും.

3. Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the early dew that passeth away, as the chaff [that] is driven with the whirlwind from the floor, and as the smoke from the chimney.

4. ഞാനോ മിസ്രയീംദേശംമുതല് നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു; എന്നെയല്ലാതെ വേറൊരു ദൈവത്തെയും നീ അറിയുന്നില്ല;

4. Yet I [am] the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no God but me: for [there is] no saviour besides me.

5. ഞാനല്ലാതെ ഒരു രക്ഷിതാവു ഇല്ലല്ലോ. ഞാന് മരുഭൂമിയില് ഏറ്റവും വരണ്ട ദേശത്തു തന്നേ നിന്നെ മേയിച്ചു.

5. I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.

6. അവര്ക്കും മേച്ചല് ഉള്ളതുപോലെ അവര് മേഞ്ഞു തൃപ്തരായപ്പോള് അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം ഉയര്ന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് എന്നെ മറന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

6. According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.

7. ആകയാല് ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും ഒരു സിംഹത്തെപ്പോലെ ഇരിക്കും; വഴിയരികെ വള്ളിപ്പുലിയെപ്പോലെ ഞാന് അവര്ക്കായി പതിയിരിക്കും;

7. Therefore I will be to them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe [them]:

8. കുട്ടികള് പൊയ്പോയ കരടിയെപ്പോലെ ഞാന് അവരെ എതിരിട്ടു അവരുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ നെയ്വല കീറിക്കളയും; അവിടെവെച്ചു ഞാന് അവരെ ഒരു സിംഹംപോലെ തിന്നുകളയും; കാട്ടുമൃഗം അവരെ കടിച്ചുകീറും.

8. I will meet them as a bear [that is] bereaved [of her whelps], and will rend the fat of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.

9. യിസ്രായേലേ, നിന്റെ സഹായമായിരിക്കുന്ന എന്നോടു നീ മറുക്കുന്നതു നിന്റെ നാശം ആകുന്നു.

9. O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me [is] thy help.

10. നിന്റെ എല്ലാപട്ടണങ്ങളിലും നിന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കാകുന്ന നിന്റെ രാജാവു ഇപ്പോള് എവിടെ? എനിക്കു ഒരു രാജാവിനെയും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെയും തരേണം എന്നു നീ അപേക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ ന്യായാധിപന്മാര് എവിടെ?

10. I will be thy king: where [is any other] that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?

11. എന്റെ കോപത്തില് ഞാന് നിനക്കു ഒരു രാജാവിനെ തന്നു, എന്റെ ക്രോധത്തില് ഞാന് അവനെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

11. I gave thee a king in my anger, and took [him] away in my wrath.

12. എഫ്രയീമിന്റെ അകൃത്യം സംഗ്രഹിച്ചും അവന്റെ പാപം സൂക്ഷിച്ചും വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. The iniquity of Ephraim [is] bound up; his sin [is] hid.

13. നോവുകിട്ടിയ സ്ത്രീയുടെ വേദന അവന്നു ഉണ്ടാകും; അവന് ബുദ്ധിയില്ലാത്ത മകന് ; സമയമാകുമ്പോള് അവന് ഗര്ഭദ്വാരത്തിങ്കല് എത്തുന്നില്ല.

13. The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he [is] an unwise son; for he should not stay long in [the place of] the breaking forth of children.

14. ഞാന് അവരെ പാതാളത്തിന്റെ അധീനത്തില്നിന്നു വീണ്ടെടുക്കും; മരണത്തില്നിന്നു ഞാന് അവരെ വിടുവിക്കും; മരണമേ, നിന്റെ ബാധകള് എവിടെ? പാതാളമേ, നിന്റെ സംഹാരം എവിടെ? എനിക്കു സഹതാപം തോന്നുകയില്ല.

14. I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from my eyes.

15. അവന് തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ ഇടയില് ഫലപുഷ്ടിയുള്ളവനായിരുന്നാലും ഒരു കിഴക്കന് കാറ്റു വരും; അവന്റെ ഉറവു വറ്റി കിണര് ഉണങ്ങിപ്പോകുവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം യഹോവയുടെ കാറ്റു മരുഭൂമിയില്നിന്നു വരും; അവന് സകലമനോഹരവസ്തുക്കളുടെയും നിക്ഷേപത്തെ കവര്ന്നുകൊണ്ടുപോകും.

15. Though he is fruitful among [his] brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall plunder the treasure of all pleasant vessels.

16. ശമര്യ്യാ തന്റെ ദൈവത്തോടു മത്സരിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവള് തന്റെ അകൃത്യം വഹിക്കേണ്ടിവരും; അവര് വാള്കൊണ്ടു വീഴും; അവരുടെ ശിശുക്കളെ അവര് തകര്ത്തുകളയും; അവരുടെ ഗര്ഭിണികളുടെ ഉദരം പിളര്ന്നുകളയും.

16. Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.
