1. യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു എനിക്കു ഒരു കൊട്ട പഴുത്ത പഴം കാണിച്ചുതന്നു.

1. The Lord Jehovah made me see this: And, behold, a basket of summer fruit!

2. ആമോസേ, നീ എന്തു കാണുന്നു എന്നു അവന് ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഒരു കൊട്ട പഴുത്തപഴം എന്നു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞു. യഹോവ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുഎന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു പഴുപ്പു വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് ഇനി അവരെ ശിക്ഷിക്കാതെ വിടുകയില്ല.

2. And He said, Amos, what do you see? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. And Jehovah said to me, The end has come on My people Israel; I will not again pass over him any more.

3. അന്നാളില് മന്ദിരത്തിലെ ഗീതങ്ങള് മുറവിളിയാകും എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു. ശവം അനവധി! എല്ലാടത്തും അവയെ എറിഞ്ഞുകളയും; മിണ്ടരുതു.

3. And they will howl the songs of the temple in that day, declares the Lord Jehovah. The dead bodies shall be many; in every place one shall throw them out, saying, Hush!

4. ഞങ്ങള് ഏഫയെ കുറെച്ചു ശേക്കേലിനെ വലുതാക്കി കള്ളത്തുലാസ്സുകൊണ്ടു വഞ്ചന പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു എളിയവരെ പണത്തിന്നും ദരിദ്രന്മാരെ ഒരു കൂട്ടു ചെരിപ്പിന്നും മേടിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും കോതമ്പിന്റെ പതിര് വില്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും

4. Hear this, you who swallow up the poor, even to make the humble of the land to cease,

5. ധാന്യവ്യാപാരം ചെയ്വാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അമാവാസിയും കോതമ്പുപീടിക തുറന്നുവെപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ശബ്ബത്തും എപ്പോള് കഴിഞ്ഞുപോകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു,

5. saying, When will the new moon have passed, so that we may buy grain? Or the sabbath, so that we may open the wheat, making smaller the ephah, and making greater the shekel, and to falsify the deceitful balances,

6. ദരിദ്രന്മാരെ വിഴുങ്ങുവാനും ദേശത്തിലെ സാധുക്കളെ ഇല്ലാതാക്കുവാനും പോകുന്നവരേ, ഇതു കേള്പ്പിന് .

6. in order to buy the helpless with silver, and the poor for a pair of sandals, and sell the chaff of the wheat?

7. ഞാന് അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികളില് യാതൊന്നും ഒരുനാളും മറക്കയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ യാക്കോബിന്റെ മഹിമയെച്ചൊല്ലി സത്യം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

7. Jehovah has sworn by the Pride of Jacob, Surely I will not ever forget all their works.

8. അതു നിമിത്തം ഭൂമി നടുങ്ങുകയും അതില് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന ഏവനും ഭ്രമിച്ചുപോകയും ചെയ്കയില്ലയോ? അതു മുഴുവനും നീലനദിപോലെ പൊങ്ങും; മിസ്രയീമിലെ നദിപോലെ പൊങ്ങുകയും താഴുകയും ചെയ്യും.

8. Shall not the land tremble for this, and all who dwell in it mourn? And all of it shall go up like the light, and it shall overflow and sink like the Nile of Egypt.

9. അന്നാളില് ഞാന് ഉച്ചെക്കു സൂര്യനെ അസ്തമിപ്പിക്കയും പട്ടാപ്പകല് ഭൂമിയെ ഇരുട്ടാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.

9. And it shall be in that day, declares the Lord Jehovah, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in light of the day.

10. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉത്സവങ്ങളെ ദുഃഖമായും നിങ്ങളുടെ ഗീതങ്ങളെ വിലാപമായും മാറ്റും; ഞാന് ഏതു അരയിലും രട്ടും ഏതു തലയിലും കഷണ്ടിയും വരുത്തും; ഞാന് അതിനെ ഒരു ഏകജാതനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള വിലാപംപോലെയും അതിന്റെ അവസാനത്തെ കൈപ്പുള്ള ദിവസംപോലെയും ആക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

10. And I will turn your feasts to mourning, and all your songs into a dirge. And I will bring up sackcloth on all loins, and baldness on every head. And I will make it like the mourning for an only one; and the end of it shall be like a bitter day.

11. അപ്പത്തിന്നായുള്ള വിശപ്പല്ല വെള്ളത്തിന്നായുള്ള ദാഹവുമല്ല, യഹോവയുടെ വചനങ്ങളെ കേള്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നുള്ള വിശപ്പുതന്നേ ഞാന് ദേശത്തേക്കു അയക്കുന്ന നാളുകള് വരുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

11. Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord Jehovah, that I will send a famine into the land, not a famine for bread, nor a thirst for water, but rather a famine for hearing the Words of Jehovah.

12. അന്നു അവര് സമുദ്രംമുതല് സമുദ്രംവരെയും വടക്കുമുതല് കിഴക്കുവരെയും ഉഴന്നുചെന്നു യഹോവയുടെ വചനം അന്വേഷിച്ചു അലഞ്ഞുനടക്കും; കണ്ടുകിട്ടുകയില്ലതാനും.

12. And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to east; they shall roam about to seek the Word of Jehovah, and they shall not find it.

13. അന്നാളില് സൌന്ദര്യമുള്ള കന്യകമാരും യൌവനക്കാരും ദാഹംകൊണ്ടു ബോധംകെട്ടുവീഴും.

13. In that day the beautiful virgins and the young men shall faint with thirst.

14. ദാനേ, നിന്റെ ദൈവത്താണ, ബേര്-ശേബാമാര്ഗ്ഗത്താണ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുംകൊണ്ടു ശമര്യ്യയുടെ അകൃത്യത്തെച്ചൊല്ലി സത്യം ചെയ്യുന്നവര് വീഴും; ഇനി എഴുന്നേല്ക്കയുമില്ല.

14. They who swear by the guilt of Samaria, and say, As your God lives, O Dan! And, As the way of Beer-sheba lives! Even they shall fall, and not rise again.
