1. രക്തപാതകങ്ങളുടെ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം! അതു മുഴുവനും വ്യാജവും അപഹാരവും നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; കവര്ച്ച വിട്ടുപോകുന്നതുമില്ല.

1. It is bad for the city of blood, full of lies and stolen riches! There is no end of her prizes of war!

2. ചമ്മട്ടിയുടെ ഒച്ച; ചക്രങ്ങള് കിരുകിരുക്കുന്ന ശബ്ദം; പായുന്ന കുതിരകള്; ഔടുന്ന രഥങ്ങള്!

2. The noise of the whip, the noise of the wheel, running horses and rolling war-wagons!

3. കുതിരകയറുന്ന കുതിരച്ചേവകര്; ജ്വലിക്കുന്ന വാള്; മിന്നുന്ന കുന്തം; അനേകനിഹതന്മാര്; അനവധി ശവങ്ങള്; പിണങ്ങള്ക്കു കണക്കില്ല; അവര് പിണങ്ങള് തടഞ്ഞു വീഴുന്നു.

3. Horsemen rushing to battle, swords and spears shining, many dead, too many dead bodies to number! They fall over the dead bodies!

4. പരസംഗംകൊണ്ടു ജാതികളെയും ക്ഷുദ്രപ്രയോഗംകൊണ്ടു വംശങ്ങളെയും വിലക്കുന്നവളായി ക്ഷുദ്രനൈപുണ്യവും സൌന്ദര്യവുമുള്ള വേശ്യയുടെ പരസംഗബഹുത്വംനിമിത്തം തന്നേ ഇങ്ങനെ ഭവിച്ചതു.

4. All this is because of the many sins of the woman who sells the use of her body. She tempts with her beauty and uses witchcraft. She sells nations by her sinful acts, and families by her witchcraft.

5. ഞാന് നിന്റെ നേരെ വരും, ഞാന് നിന്റെ വസ്ത്രാഗ്രങ്ങളെ നിന്റെ മുഖംവരെ പൊക്കി ജാതികളെ നിന്റെ നഗ്നതയും രാജ്യങ്ങളെ നിന്റെ നാണിടവും കാണിക്കും എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

5. 'I am against you,' says the Lord of All. 'I will lift up your clothing over your face and let the nations see your body. The nations will see your shame.

6. ഞാന് അമേദ്ധ്യം നിന്റെ മേല് എറിഞ്ഞു നിന്നെ കുത്സിതയും നിന്ദാവിഷയവുമാക്കും.

6. I will throw dirt on you and make you unclean. People will look at you and see how bad you are.

7. അങ്ങനെ നിന്നെ കാണുന്ന ഏവരും നിന്നെ വിട്ടു ഔടിനീനെവേ ശൂന്യമായിക്കിടക്കുന്നു; ആര് അവളോടു സഹതാപം കാണിക്കും; ഞാന് എവിടെനിന്നു നിനക്കു ആശ്വാസകന്മാരെ അന്വേഷിക്കേണ്ടു എന്നു പറയും.

7. All who see you will leave you and say, 'Nineveh is destroyed! Who will have sorrow for her?' Where can I find anyone to comfort you?'

8. നദികളുടെ ഇടയില് ഇരിക്കുന്നതും ചുറ്റും വെള്ളം ഉള്ളതും സമുദ്രം വാടയും സമുദ്രം മതിലും ആയിരിക്കുന്നതുമായ നോ-അമ്മോനെക്കാള് നീ ഉത്തമ ആകുന്നുവോ? കൂശും മിസ്രയീമും അവളുടെ ബലമായിരുന്നു; അതു സീമയില്ലാത്തതായിരുന്നു; പൂത്യരും ലൂബ്യരും നിന്റെ സഹായകന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

9. എന്നിട്ടും അവള് ബദ്ധയായി പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു പോകേണ്ടിവന്നു; അവളുടെ പൈതങ്ങളെ അവര് സകലവീഥികളുടെയും തലെക്കല്വെച്ചു തകര്ത്തുകളഞ്ഞു; അവളുടെ മാന്യന്മാര്ക്കും അവര് ചീട്ടിട്ടു, അവളുടെ സകലമഹാന്മാരെയും ചങ്ങലകൊണ്ടു ബന്ധിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

10. അങ്ങനെ നീയും ലഹരിപിടിച്ചു ബോധംകെട്ടു വീഴും; നീയും ശത്രുനിമിത്തം ഒരു അഭയസ്ഥാനം അന്വേഷിക്കും.

10. Yet she was taken away to a strange land. She was taken away in chains. Her small children were beaten to death at every street corner. They drew names to see who would get her men of honor. And all her great men were put in chains.

11. നിന്റെ കോട്ടകള് ഒക്കെയും തലപ്പഴത്തോടുകൂടിയ അത്തിവൃക്ഷങ്ങള് പോലെയാകും; കുലുക്കിയാല് അവ തിന്നുന്നവന്റെ വായില്തന്നേ വീഴും.

11. You also will become drunk. You will be hidden. You will look for a safe place from those who hate you.

12. നിന്റെ ജനം നിന്റെ നടുവില് പെണ്ണുങ്ങള് ആകുന്നു; നിന്റെ ദേശത്തിന്റെ വാതിലുകള് നിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കള്ക്കു വിസ്താരമായി തുറന്നുകിടക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ ഔടാമ്പലുകള് തീക്കു ഇരയായ്തീര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. All your strong towers are like fig trees with first-fruits. When they are shaken, they fall into the mouth of the one who eats them.

13. നിരോധത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി വെള്ളം കോരിക്കൊള്ക; നിന്റെ കൊത്തളങ്ങളെ ഉറപ്പിക്ക; ചെളിയില് ചെന്നു കളിമണ്ണു ചവിട്ടുക; ഇഷ്ടകയച്ചു പിടിക്ക!

13. Your soldiers are all women. The gates of your land are opened wide to those who hate you. Fire destroys your gates.

14. അവിടെ തീ നിന്നെ ദഹിപ്പിച്ചുകളയും; വാള് നിന്നെ ഛേദിച്ചു വിട്ടില് എന്നപോലെ നിന്നെ തിന്നുകളയും; വിട്ടില് എന്നപോലെ നിന്നെ തന്നേ പെരുക്കുക; വെട്ടുക്കിളി എന്നപോലെ നിന്നെത്തന്നേ പെരുക്കുക.

14. Store up water to drink when you are shut in by armies! Make your walls stronger! Go into the clay to make more clay blocks for building!

15. നിന്റെ വര്ത്തകന്മാരെ നീ ആകാശത്തിലെ നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളെക്കാള് വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചുവല്ലൊ; വിട്ടില് പടം കഴിച്ചു പറന്നുപോകുന്നു.

15. There the fire will destroy you. The sword will kill you. It will destroy you like the locust. Make yourselves as many as the locusts, as many as the flying locusts.

16. നിന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര് വെട്ടുക്കിളികള്പോലെയും നിന്റെ സേനാധിപതിമാര് ശിതമുള്ള ദിവസത്തില് മതിലുകളിന്മേല് പറ്റുന്ന വിട്ടില്കൂട്ടംപോലെയും ആകുന്നു; സൂര്യന് ഉദിക്കുമ്പോള് അവ പറന്നുപോകുന്നു; അവ ചെന്നിരിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലം ആരും അറിയുന്നില്ല.

16. You have more traders than the stars of heaven. The locust destroys everything from the land and flies away.

17. അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവേ, നിന്റെ ഇടയന്മാര് ഉറങ്ങുന്നു; നിന്റെ കുലീനന്മാര് വിശ്രമിച്ചു കിടക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ ജനം പര്വ്വതങ്ങളില് ചിതറിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവരെ കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്പ്പാന് ആരുമില്ല.

17. Your watchmen are like the flying locusts. Your leaders are like clouds of locusts. They stay in the stone walls on a cold day. When the sun rises they fly away and no one knows where they are.

18. നിന്റെ കേടിന്നു ഉപശാന്തി ഇല്ല; നിന്റെ മുറിവു വിഷമമാകുന്നു; നിന്റെ വര്ത്തമാനം കേള്ക്കുന്ന ഏവരും നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു കൈകൊട്ടും; ആരുടെ മേലാകുന്നു നിന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത ഇടവിടാതെ കവിഞ്ഞുവരാതിരുന്നതു?

18. Your shepherds are sleeping, O king of Assyria. Your leaders are lying down. Your people have gone everywhere on the mountains. And there is no one to gather them together again.
