1. ഹബക്കൂക് പ്രവാചകന് ദര്ശിച്ച പ്രവാചകം.

1. The burden, which Habakkuk the Prophet did see.

2. യഹോവേ, എത്രത്തോളം ഞാന് അയ്യം വിളിക്കയും നീ കേള്ക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യും? സാഹസംനിമിത്തം ഞാന് എത്രത്തോളം നിന്നോടു നിലവിളിക്കയും നീ രക്ഷിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യും?

2. O Lord, howe long shall I crye, and thou wilt not heare! euen crye out vnto thee for violence, and thou wilt not helpe!

3. നീ എന്നെ നീതികേടു കാണുമാറാക്കുന്നതും പീഡനം വെറുതെ നോക്കുന്നതും എന്തിനു? കവര്ച്ചയും സാഹസവും എന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഉണ്ടു; കലഹം നടക്കുന്നു; ശണ്ഠ ഉളവായി വരും.

3. Why doest thou shewe mee iniquitie, and cause me to beholde sorowe? for spoyling, and violence are before me: and there are that rayse vp strife and contention.

4. അതുകൊണ്ടു ന്യായപ്രമാണം അയഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ന്യായം ഒരുനാളും വെളിപ്പെട്ടുവരുന്നതുമില്ല; ദുഷ്ടന് നീതിമാനെ വളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു ന്യായം വക്രതയായി വെളിപ്പെട്ടുവരുന്നു.

4. Therefore the Lawe is dissolued, and iudgement doeth neuer go forth: for the wicked doeth compasse about the righteous: therefore wrong iudgement proceedeth.

5. ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയില് ദൃഷ്ടിവെച്ചു നോക്കുവിന് ! ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു വിസ്മയിപ്പിന് ! ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ കാലത്തു ഒരു പ്രവൃത്തി ചെയ്യും; അതു വിവരിച്ചുകേട്ടാല് നിങ്ങള് വിശ്വസിക്കയില്ല.

5. Beholde among the heathen, and regarde, and wonder, and maruaile: for I will worke a worke in your dayes: yee will not beleeue it, though it be tolde you.

6. ഞാന് ഉഗ്രതയും വേഗതയുമുള്ള ജാതിയായ കല്ദയരെ ഉണര്ത്തും; അവര് തങ്ങളുടേതല്ലാത്ത വാസസ്ഥലങ്ങളെ കൈവശമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഭൂമണ്ഡലത്തില് നീളെ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നു.

6. For lo, I raise vp the Caldeans, that bitter and furious nation, which shall goe vpon the breadth of the lande to possesse the dwelling places, that are not theirs.

7. അവര് ഘോരവും ഭയങ്കരവുമായുള്ളവര്; അവരുടെ ന്യായവും ശ്രേഷ്ഠതയും അവരില്നിന്നു തന്നേ പുറപ്പെടുന്നു.

7. They are terrible and fearefull: their iudgement and their dignitie shall proceede of theselues.

8. അവരുടെ കുതിരകള് പുള്ളിപ്പുലികളെക്കാള് വേഗതയും വൈകുന്നേരത്തെ ചെന്നായ്ക്കളെക്കാള് ഉഗ്രതയുമുള്ളവ; അവരുടെ കുതിരച്ചേവകര് ഗര്വ്വിച്ചോടിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ കുതിരച്ചേവകര് ദൂരത്തുനിന്നു വരുന്നു; തിന്നുവാന് ബദ്ധപ്പെടുന്ന കഴുകനെപ്പോലെ അവര് പറന്നു വരുന്നു.

8. Their horses also are swifter then the leopards, and are more fierce then the wolues in the euening: and their horsemen are many: and their horsemen shall come from farre: they shall flie as the eagle hasting to meate.

9. അവര് ഏവരും സംഹാരത്തിന്നായി വരുന്നു; അവരുടെ മുഖം മുമ്പോട്ടു ബദ്ധപ്പെടുന്നു; അവര് മണല്പോലെ ബദ്ധന്മാരെ പിടിച്ചുചേര്ക്കുംന്നു.

9. They come all to spoyle: before their faces shalbe an Eastwinde, and they shall gather the captiuitie, as the sand.

10. അവര് രാജാക്കന്മാരെ പരിഹസിക്കുന്നു; പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര് അവര്ക്കും ഹാസ്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് ഏതു കോട്ടയെയും കുറിച്ചു ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് മണ്ണു കുന്നിച്ചു അതിനെ പിടിക്കും.

10. And they shall mocke the Kings, and the princes shalbe a skorne vnto them: they shall deride euery strong holde: for they shall gather dust, and take it.

11. അന്നു അവന് കാറ്റുപോലെ അടിച്ചുകടന്നു അതിക്രമിച്ചു കുറ്റക്കാരനായ്തീരും; സ്വന്തശക്തിയല്ലോ അവന്നു ദൈവം.

11. Then shall they take a courage, and transgresse and doe wickedly, imputing this their power vnto their god.

12. എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, നീ പുരാതനമേ എന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധനല്ലയോ? ഞങ്ങള് മരിക്കയില്ല; യഹോവേ, നീ അവനെ ന്യായവിധിക്കായി നിയമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; പാറയായുള്ളോവേ, ശിക്ഷെക്കായി നീ അവനെ നിയോഗിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. Art thou not of olde, O Lord my God, mine holy one? we shall not die: O Lord, thou hast ordeined them for iudgement, and O God, thou hast established them for correction.

13. ദോഷം കണ്ടുകൂടാതവണ്ണം നിര്മ്മലദൃഷ്ടിയുള്ളവനും പീഡനം കാണ്മാന് കഴിയാത്തവനുമായുള്ളോവേ, ദ്രോഹം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നവരെ നീ വെറുതെ നോക്കുന്നതും ദുഷ്ടന് തന്നിലും നീതിമാനായവനെ വിഴുങ്ങുമ്പോള്

13. Thou art of pure eyes, and canst not see euill: thou canst not behold wickednesse: wherefore doest thou looke vpon the transgressors, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked deuoureth the man, that is more righteous then he?

14. നീ മിണ്ടാതിരിക്കുന്നതും മനുഷ്യരെ സമുദ്രത്തിലെ മത്സ്യങ്ങളെപ്പോലെയും അധിപതിയില്ലാത്ത ഇഴജാതികളെപ്പോലെയും ആക്കുന്നതും എന്തു?

14. And makest men as the fishes of the sea, and as the creeping things, that haue no ruler ouer them.

15. അവന് അവയെ ഒക്കെയും ചൂണ്ടല്കൊണ്ടു പിടിച്ചെടുക്കുന്നു; അവന് വലകൊണ്ടു അവയെ വലിച്ചെടുക്കുന്നു; കോരുവലയില് ചേര്ത്തുകൊള്ളുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് സന്തോഷിച്ചാനന്ദിക്കുന്നു.

15. They take vp all with the angle: they catch it in their net, and gather it in their yarne, whereof they reioyce and are glad.

16. അതു ഹേതുവായി അവന് തന്റെ വലെക്കു ബലികഴിക്കുന്നു; കോരുവലെക്കു ധൂപം കാട്ടുന്നു; അവയാലല്ലോ അവന്റെ ഔഹരി പുഷ്ടിയുള്ളതും അവന്റെ ആഹാരം പൂര്ത്തിയുള്ളതുമായ്തീരുന്നതു.

16. Therefore they sacrifice vnto their net, and burne incense vnto their yarne, because by them their portion is fat and their meat plenteous.

17. അതുനിമിത്തം അവന് തന്റെ വല കുടഞ്ഞു, ജാതികളെ ആദരിക്കാതെ നിത്യം കൊല്ലുവാന് പോകുമോ?

17. Shall they therefore stretch out their net and not spare continually to slay the nations?
