1. ദാര്യ്യാവേശ് രാജാവിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടു, ആറാം മാസം, ഒന്നാം തിയ്യതി യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ഹഗ്ഗായിപ്രവാചകന് മുഖാന്തരം യെഹൂദാദേശാധിപതിയായി ശെയല്തീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ സെരുബ്ബാബേലിന്നും മഹാപുരോഹിതനായി യെഹോസാദാക്കിന്റെ മകനായ യോശുവേക്കും ഉണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. During the second year that Darius was emperor of Persia, on the first day of the sixth month, the LORD spoke through the prophet Haggai. The message was for the governor of Judah, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and for the High Priest, Joshua son of Jehozadak.

2. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുയഹോവയുടെ ആലയം പണിവാനുള്ള കാലം വന്നിട്ടില്ലെന്നു ഈ ജനം പറയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

2. The LORD Almighty said to Haggai, 'These people say that this is not the right time to rebuild the Temple.'

3. ഹഗ്ഗായി പ്രവാചകന് മുഖാന്തരം യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

3. The LORD then gave this message to the people through the prophet Haggai:

4. ഈ ആലയം ശൂന്യമായിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തട്ടിട്ട വീടുകളില് പാര്പ്പാന് കാലമായോ?

4. 'My people, why should you be living in well-built houses while my Temple lies in ruins?

5. ആകയാല് സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങളുടെ വഴികളെ വിചാരിച്ചുനോക്കുവിന് .

5. Don't you see what is happening to you?

6. നിങ്ങള് വളരെ വിതെച്ചിട്ടും അല്പമേ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നുള്ളു; നിങ്ങള് ഭക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടും പൂര്ത്തിവരുന്നില്ല; പാനം ചെയ്തിട്ടും തൃപ്തിവരുന്നില്ല വസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചിട്ടും ആര്ക്കും കുളിര് മാറുന്നില്ല; കൂലിക്കാരന് ഔട്ടസഞ്ചിയില് ഇടുവാന് കൂലിവാങ്ങുന്നു.

6. You have planted much grain, but have harvested very little. You have food to eat, but not enough to make you full. You have wine to drink, but not enough to get drunk on! You have clothing, but not enough to keep you warm. And workers cannot earn enough to live on.

7. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങളുടെ വഴികളെ വിചാരിച്ചുനോക്കുവിന് .

7. Can't you see why this has happened?

8. നിങ്ങള് മലയില് ചെന്നു മരം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ആലയം പണിവിന് ; ഞാന് അതില് പ്രസാദിച്ചു മഹത്വപ്പെടും എന്നു യഹോവ കല്പിക്കുന്നു.

8. Now go up into the hills, get lumber, and rebuild the Temple; then I will be pleased and will be worshiped as I should be.

9. നിങ്ങള് അധികം കിട്ടുമെന്നു കാത്തിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് അതു അല്പമായ്തീര്ന്നു; നിങ്ങള് അതു വീട്ടില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; ഞാനോ അതു ഊതിക്കളഞ്ഞു; അതെന്തുകൊണ്ടു? എന്റെ ആലയം ശൂന്യമായ്ക്കിടക്കയും നിങ്ങള് ഔരോരുത്തനും താന്താന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു ഔടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു തന്നേ എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

9. 'You hoped for large harvests, but they turned out to be small. And when you brought the harvest home, I blew it away. Why did I do that? Because my Temple lies in ruins while every one of you is busy working on your own house.

10. അതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങള്നിമിത്തം ആകാശം മഞ്ഞു പെയ്യാതെ അടഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ഭൂമി അനുഭവം തരുന്നതുമില്ല.

10. That is why there is no rain and nothing can grow.

11. ഞാന് ദേശത്തിന്മേലും മലകളിന്മേലും ധാന്യത്തിന്മേലും വീഞ്ഞിന്മേലും എണ്ണയിന്മേലും നിലത്തെ വിളവിന്മേലും മനുഷ്യരുടെമേലും മൃഗങ്ങളുടെ മേലും കൈകളുടെ സകല പ്രയത്നത്തിന്മേലും വറുതിയെ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

11. I have brought drought on the land---on its hills, grainfields, vineyards, and olive orchards---on every crop the ground produces, on people and animals, on everything you try to grow.'

12. അങ്ങനെ ശെയല്തീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ സെരുബ്ബാബേലും മഹാപുരോഹിതനായി യെഹോസാദാക്കിന്റെ മകനായ യോശുവയും ജനത്തില് ശേഷിപ്പുള്ള ഏവരുമായി തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കും തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നിയോഗത്തിന്നു ഒത്തവണ്ണം ഹഗ്ഗായി പ്രവാചകന്റെ വചനങ്ങളും കേട്ടനുസരിച്ചു; ജനം യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു.

12. Then Zerubbabel and Joshua and all the people who had returned from the exile in Babylonia, did what the LORD their God told them to do. They were afraid and obeyed the prophet Haggai, the LORD's messenger.

13. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതനായ ഹഗ്ഗായി യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതായി ജനത്തോടുഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു കൂടെ ഉണ്ടെന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. Then Haggai gave the LORD's message to the people: 'I will be with you---that is my promise.'

14. യഹോവ യെഹൂദാദേശാധിപതിയായി ശെയല്തീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ സെരുബ്ബാബേലിന്റെ മനസ്സും മഹാപുരോഹിതനായി യെഹോസാദാക്കിന്റെ മകനായ യോശുവയുടെ മനസ്സും ജനത്തില് ശേഷിപ്പുള്ള ഏവരുടെയും മനസ്സും ഉണര്ത്തി; അവര് വന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിങ്കല് വേല ചെയ്തു.

14. The LORD inspired everyone to work on the Temple: Zerubbabel, the governor of Judah; Joshua, the High Priest, and all the people who had returned from the exile. They began working on the Temple of the LORD Almighty, their God,

15. ദാര്യ്യാവേശ് രാജാവിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടു ആറാം മാസം ഇരുപത്തുനാലാം തിയ്യതി തന്നേ.

15. on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month of the second year that Darius was emperor.
