1. എനിക്കു മുമ്പായി വഴി നിരത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് എന്റെ ദൂതനെ അയക്കുന്നു. നിങ്ങള് അന്വേഷിക്കുന്ന കര്ത്താവും നിങ്ങള് ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്ന നിയമദൂതനുമായവന് പെട്ടെന്നു തന്റെ മന്ദിരത്തിലേക്കു വരും; ഇതാ, അവന് വരുന്നു എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

1. Behold, I will send my messenger, which shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord(LORDE) whom ye would have, shall soon come to his temple, yea, even the messenger of the covenant whom ye long for. Behold, he cometh, sayeth the LORD of Hosts.(Behold, I send my messenger which shall prepare the way before me. And suddenly shall the Lord whom ye seek, come unto his temple, and the messenger of the covenant whom ye desire. Behold, he cometh saith the LORD Sabaoth.)

2. But who may abide the day of his coming? Who shall be able to endure, when he appeareth? For he is like a goldsmith's fire, and like washer's soap.(Who shall endure in the day of his coming, or who shall stand to behold him? For he is as trying fire and as the herb that fullers scour withal.)

3. He shall sit him down to try and to cleanse the silver, he shall purge the children of Levi, and purify them like as gold and silver: that they may bring meatofferings unto the LORD in righteousness.(And he shall sit trying and purging silver, and shall purify the sons of Levi, and shall fine them as gold and silver. And they shall bring offering unto the LORD of righteousness.)

4. അന്നു യെഹൂദയുടെയും യെരൂശലേമിന്റെയും വഴിപാടു പുരാതനകാലത്തെന്നപോലെയും പണ്ടത്തെ ആണ്ടുകളിലെന്നപോലെയും യഹോവേക്കു പ്രസാദകരമായിരിക്കും.

4. Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be acceptable unto the LORD, like as from the beginning and in the years afore time.(And the sacrifice of Judah and of Jerusalem shall be delicious unto the LORD as in the old time and in the years that were at the beginning.)

5. ഞാന് ന്യായവിധിക്കായി നിങ്ങളോടു അടുത്തുവരും; ഞാന് ക്ഷുദ്രക്കാര്ക്കും വ്യഭിചാരികള്ക്കും കള്ളസ്സത്യം ചെയ്യുന്നവര്ക്കും കൂലിയുടെ കാര്യത്തില് കൂലിക്കാരനെയും വിധവയെയും അനാഥനെയും പീഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും എന്നെ ഭയപ്പെടാതെ പരദേശിയുടെ ന്യായം മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നവര്ക്കും വിരോധമായി ഒരു ശീഘ്രസാക്ഷിയായിരിക്കും എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

5. I will come and punish you, and I myself will be a swift witness against the witches, against the advouterers, against false swearers: yea and against those, that wrongfully(wrongeously) keep back the hirelings duty: which vex the widows and the fatherless, and oppress the stranger, and fear not me, sayeth the LORD of Hosts.

6. യഹോവയായ ഞാന് മാറാത്തവന് ; അതുകൊണ്ടു യാക്കോബിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങള് മുടിഞ്ഞുപേകാതിരിക്കുന്നു.

6. For I am the LORD that change not, and ye (O children of Jacob) will not leave off:

7. നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ കാലംമുതല് നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെ പ്രമാണിക്കാതെ തെറ്റിനടന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കു മടങ്ങിവരുവിന് ; ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കും മടങ്ങിവരും എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു. എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള്ഏതില് ഞങ്ങള് മടങ്ങിവരേണ്ടു എന്നു ചോദിക്കുന്നു.

7. ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and since the time of your forefathers have ye not kept them. Turn you now unto me, and I will turn me unto you, sayeth the LORD of Hosts. Ye say: Wherein shall we turn?

8. മനുഷ്യന്നു ദൈവത്തെ തോല്പിക്കാമോ? എങ്കിലും നിങ്ങള് എന്നെ തോല്പിക്കുന്നു. എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള്ഏതില് ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നെ തോല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിക്കുന്നു. ദശാംശത്തിലും വഴിപാടിലും തന്നേ.

8. Should a man use falsity and deceit with God, as ye use falsity and deceit with me. Yet ye say wherein use we deceit with thee? In Tithes and heave offerings.

9. നിങ്ങള്, ഈ ജാതി മുഴുവനും തന്നേ, എന്നെ തോല്പിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങള് ശാപഗ്രസ്തരാകുന്നു.

9. Therefore are ye cursed with penury, because ye dissemble with me, all the sort of you.

10. എന്റെ ആലയത്തില് ആഹാരം ഉണ്ടാകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് ദശാംശം മുഴുവനും ഭണ്ഡാരത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവരുവിന് . ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ആകാശത്തിന്റെ കിളിവാതിലുകളെ തുറന്നു, സ്ഥലം പോരാതെവരുവോളം നിങ്ങളുടെമേല് അനുഗ്രഹം പകരുകയില്ലയോ? എന്നിങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങള് ഇതിനാല് എന്നെ പരീക്ഷിപ്പിന് എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

10. Bring every Tithe in to my barn, that there may be meat in mine house: and prove me withall (sayeth the LORD of Hosts) if I will not open the windows of heaven unto you, and pour you out a blessing with plenteousness.

11. ഞാന് വെട്ടുക്കിളിയെ ശാസിക്കും; അതു നിങ്ങളുടെ നിലത്തിലെ അനുഭവം നശിപ്പിച്ചു കളകയില്ല; പറമ്പിലെ മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയുടെ ഫലം മൂക്കാതെ കൊഴിഞ്ഞുപോകയുമില്ല എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

11. Yea, I shall reprove the consumer for your sakes, so that he shall not eat up the fruit of your ground, neither shall the vineyard be barren in the field, sayeth the LORD of Hosts:

12. നിങ്ങള് മനോഹരമായോരു ദേശം ആയിരിക്കയാല് സകലജാതികളും നിങ്ങളെ ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാര് എന്നു പറയും എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

12. In so much that all people shall say, that ye be blessed, for ye shall be a pleasant land, sayeth the LORD of Hosts.

13. നിങ്ങളുടെ വാക്കുകള് എന്റെനേരെ അതികഠിനമായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു. എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള്ഞങ്ങള് നിന്റെ നേരെ എന്തു സംസാരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിക്കുന്നു.

13. Ye speak hard words against me, sayeth the LORD. And yet ye say: What have we spoken against thee?

14. യഹോവേക്കു ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്യുന്നതു വ്യര്ത്ഥം; ഞങ്ങള് അവന്റെ കാര്യം നോക്കുന്നതിനാലും സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ കറുപ്പുടുത്തു നടന്നതിനാലും എന്തു പ്രയോജനമുള്ളു?

14. Ye have said: It is but lost labour, to serve God: What profit have we for keeping his commandments, and for walking humbly before the LORD of Hosts?

15. ആകയാല് ഞങ്ങള് അഹങ്കാരികളെ ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാര് എന്നു പറയുന്നു; ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാര് അഭ്യുദയം പ്രാപിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിക്കുന്നവര് ശിക്ഷ ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നു.

15. Therefore may we say, that the proud are happy, and that they which deal with ungodliness, are set up: for they tempt God and yet escape.

16. യഹോവാഭക്തന്മാര് അന്നു തമ്മില് തമ്മില് സംസാരിച്ചു; യഹോവ ശ്രദ്ധവെച്ചു കേട്ടു; യഹോവാഭക്തന്മാര്ക്കും അവന്റെ നാമത്തെ സ്മരിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും വേണ്ടി അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് ഒരു സ്മരണപുസ്തകം എഴുതിവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. But they that fear God, say thus one to another: the LORD considereth and heareth it. Yea it is before him a memorial book, written for such as fear the LORD, and remember his name.

17. ഞാന് ഉണ്ടാക്കുവാനുള്ള ദിവസത്തില് അവന് എനിക്കു ഒരു നിക്ഷേപം ആയിരിക്കും എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു; ഒരു മനുഷ്യന് തനിക്കു ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്യുന്ന മകനെ ആദരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ഞാന് അവരെ ആദരിക്കും.

17. And in the day that I will make (sayeth the LORD of Hosts) they shall be mine own possession: and I will favour them, like as a man favoureth his own son, that doth him service.

18. അപ്പോള് നിങ്ങള് നീതിമാനും ദുഷ്ടനും തമ്മിലും ദൈവത്തെ സേവിക്കുന്നവനും സേവിക്കാത്തവനും തമ്മിലുള്ള വ്യത്യാസം വീണ്ടും കാണും.

18. Turn you therefore, and consider what difference is betwixt the righteous and ungodly: betwixt him that serveth God, and him that serveth him not.
