1. യിസ്രായേല് അഥാരീംവഴിയായി വരുന്നു എന്നു തെക്കെ ദേശത്തു വസിച്ചിരുന്ന കനാന്യനായ അരാദ്രാജാവു കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവന് യിസ്രായേലിനോടു യുദ്ധം തുടങ്ങി ചിലരെ പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

1. And the Canaanite, the king of Arad who dwelt in the South, heard that Israel had entered by the way of Atharim, so he made war with Israel, and took some of them captive.

2. അപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല് യഹോവേക്കു ഒരു നേര്ച്ച നേര്ന്നു; ഈ ജനത്തെ നീ എന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചാല് ഞാന് അവരുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങള് ശപഥാര്പ്പിതമായി നശിപ്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. Then Israel vowed vow unto Yahweh, and said, If thou wilt, surely deliver up, this people into my band, then will I utterly destroy their cities.

3. യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു കനാന്യരെ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു; അവര് അവരെയും അവരുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങളെയും ശപഥാര്പ്പിതമായി നശിപ്പിച്ചു; ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു ഹോര്മ്മാ എന്നു പേരായി.

3. And Yahweh hearkened unto the voice of Israel and delivered up the Canaanite into his hand, so he utterly destroyed them, and their cities, and called the name of the place Hormah that is, Utter Destruction.

4. പിന്നെ അവര് എദോംദേശത്തെ ചുറ്റിപ്പോകുവാന് ഹോര്പര്വ്വതത്തിങ്കല്നിന്നു ചെങ്കടല്വഴിയായി യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു; വഴിനിമിത്തം ജനത്തിന്റെ മനസ്സു ക്ഷീണിച്ചു.

4. Then brake they up from Mount Hor, by way of the Red Sea, to go round the land of Edom, and the soul of the people became impatient because of the way,

5. ജനം ദൈവത്തിന്നും മോശെക്കും വിരോധമായി സംസാരിച്ചുമരുഭൂമിയില് മരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? ഇവിടെ അപ്പവുമില്ല, വെള്ളവുമില്ല; ഈ സാരമില്ലാത്ത ആഹാരം ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു വെറുപ്പാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. So then the people spake against God and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt, to die in the desert? for there is neither bread nor water, and our soul, doth loathe this contemptible bread!

6. അപ്പോള് യഹോവ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില് അഗ്നിസര്പ്പങ്ങളെ അയച്ചു; അവ ജനത്തെ കടിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലില് വളരെ ജനം മരിച്ചു.

6. And Yahweh sent among the people the poisonous serpents, and they bit the people, and much people out of Israel died.

7. ആകയാല് ജനം മോശെയുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു; ഞങ്ങള് യഹോവേക്കും നിനക്കും വിരോധമായി സംസാരിച്ചതിനാല് പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. സര്പ്പങ്ങളെ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളവാന് യഹോവയോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; മോശെ ജനത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു.

7. Then tame the people of Israel unto Moses and said We have sinned in that we spake against Yahweh and against thee, Pray thou unto Yahweh, that he may take from us the serpent. So Moses prayed for the people.

8. യഹോവ മോശെയോടുഒരു അഗ്നിസര്പ്പത്തെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി കൊടിമരത്തിന്മേല് തൂക്കുക; കടിയേലക്കുന്നവന് ആരെങ്കിലും അതിനെ നോക്കിയാല് ജീവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. Then said Yahweh unto Moses Make thee a like serpent, and put it upon standard, and it shall come to pass, that, any one who is bitten, as soon as he seeth it, shall live.

9. അങ്ങനെ മോശെ താമ്രംകൊണ്ടു ഒരു സര്പ്പത്തെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി കൊടിമരത്തിന്മേല് തൂക്കി; പിന്നെ സര്പ്പം ആരെയെങ്കിലും കടിച്ചിട്ടു അവന് താമ്രസര്പ്പത്തെ നോക്കിയാല് ജീവിക്കും.
യോഹന്നാൻ 3:14

9. So Moses made a serpent of bronze, and put it upon the standard, and it came to pass that if the serpent had bitten any man, as soon as he directed his look unto the serpent of bronze, he lived.

10. അനന്തരം യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഔബോത്തില് പാളയമിറങ്ങി.

10. And the sons of Israel brake up, and encamped in Oboth.

11. ഔബോത്തില്നിന്നു യാത്ര പുറപ്പെട്ടു സൂര്യോദയത്തിന്നു നേരെ മോവാബിന്റെ കിഴക്കുള്ള മരുഭൂമിയില് ഇയ്യെ-അബാരീമില് പാളയമിറങ്ങി.

11. And they brake up from Oboth, and encamped in Ije-Abarim, in the desert which is over against Moab, towards the rising of the sun.

12. അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു സാരോദ് താഴ്വരയില് പാളയമിറങ്ങി.

12. From thence, brake they up, and encamped in the ravine of Zered.

13. അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അമോര്യ്യരുടെ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഉത്ഭവിച്ചു മരുഭൂമിയില് കൂടി ഒഴുകുന്ന അര്ന്നോന് തോട്ടിന്നക്കരെ പാളയമിറങ്ങി; അര്ന്നോന് മോവാബിന്നും അമോര്യ്യര്ക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ മോവാബിന്നുള്ള അതിര് ആകുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ടു

13. From thence, brake they up, and encamped on the other side of Arnon which is in the desert, that cometh forth out of the boundary of the Amorites, for, Arnon, is the boundary of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.

14. “സൂഫയിലെ വാഹേബും അര്ന്നോന് താഴ്വരകളും ആരിന്റെ നിവാസത്തോളം നീണ്ടു.

14. For this cause is it said, in the Book of the Wars of Yahweh, Waheb with a hurricane, And the ravines of Arnon;

15. മോവാബിന്റെ അതിരോടു ചാഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന താഴ്വരച്ചരിവു” എന്നിങ്ങനെ യഹോവയുടെ യുദ്ധപുസ്തകത്തില് പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

15. And the bottom of the ravines, that extendeth toward the dwelling of Ar, And adjoineth to the boundary of Moab,

16. അവിടെനിന്നു അവര് ബേരിലേക്കു പോയി; യഹോവ മോശെയോടുജനത്തെ ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടുകഞാന് അവര്ക്കും വെള്ളം കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു കല്പിച്ച കിണര് അതു തന്നേ.

16. And from thence, towards Beer, the same, is the well whereof Yahweh said unto Moses, Gather together the people, that I may give them water.

17. ആ സമയത്തു യിസ്രായേല്“കിണറേ, പൊങ്ങിവാ; അതിന്നു പാടുവിന് .

17. Then, sang Israel this song, Spring thou up, O well! Respond ye thereunto;

18. പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര് കുഴിച്ച കിണര്; ജനശ്രേഷ്ഠന്മാര് ചെങ്കോല്കൊണ്ടും തങ്ങളുടെ ദണ്ഡുകള്കൊണ്ടും കുത്തിയ കിണര് എന്നുള്ള പാട്ടുപാടി.

18. A well! princes digged it, Nobles of the people, delved it, With a sceptre, With their staves. And, from the desert, to Mattanah;

19. പിന്നെ അവര് മരുഭൂമിയില്നിന്നു മത്ഥാനെക്കും മത്ഥാനയില്നിന്നു നഹലീയേലിന്നും നഹലീയേലില്നിന്നു

19. and from Mattanah, to Nahaliel; and from Nahaliel, to Bamoth;

20. ബാമോത്തിന്നും ബാമോത്തില്നിന്നു മോവാബിന്റെ പ്രദേശത്തുള്ള താഴ്വരയിലേക്കും മരുഭൂമിക്കെതിരെയുള്ള പിസ്ഗമുകളിലേക്കും യാത്രചെയ്തു.

20. and, from Bamoth of the valley, which is in the field-country of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which over-looketh Jeshimon.

21. അവിടെനിന്നു യിസ്രായേല് അമോര്യ്യരുടെ രാജാവായ സീഹോന്റെ അടുക്കല് ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു

21. Then sent Israel messengers, unto Sihon king of the Amorites, saying:

22. ഞാന് നിന്റെ ദേശത്തുകൂടി കടന്നുപോകുവാന് അനുവദിക്കേണമേ; ഞങ്ങള് വയലിലെങ്കിലും മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിലെങ്കിലും കയറുകയില്ല, കിണറ്റിലെ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയുമില്ല; ഞങ്ങള് നിന്റെ അതിര്കഴിയുംവരെ രാജപാതയില്കൂടി തന്നേ പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളാം എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

22. Let me pass through thy land we will not turn aside into field or into vineyard, nor will we drink the water of a well, by the kings road, will we go, until we get through thy boundary.

23. എന്നാല് സീഹോന് തന്റെ ദേശത്തുകൂടി യിസ്രായേല് കടന്നുപോവാന് സമ്മതിക്കാതെ തന്റെ ജനത്തെയെല്ലാം ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നേരെ മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവന് യാഹാസില് വന്നു യിസ്രായേലിനോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തു.

23. And Sihon suffered not Israel to pass through his boundary, but Sihon gathered together all his people, and came forth to meet Israel, towards the desert, and entered Jahaz, and fought with Israel.

24. യിസ്രായേല് അവനെ വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലകൊണ്ടു വെട്ടി, അര്ന്നോന് മുതല് യബ്ബോക്ക്വരെയും അമ്മോന്യരുടെ അതിര്വരെയും ഉള്ള അവന്റെ ദേശത്തെ കൈവശമാക്കി; അമ്മോന്യരുടെ അതിരോ ഉറപ്പുള്ളതു ആയിരുന്നു.

24. And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and took possession of his land, from Arnon unto Jabbok, unto the sons of Ammon, for strong, was the boundary of the sons of Ammon.

25. ഈ പട്ടണങ്ങള് എല്ലാം യിസ്രായേല് പിടിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല് അമോര്യ്യരുടെ എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലും കുടിപാര്ത്തു; ഹെശ്ബോനിലും അതിന്റെ സകല ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും തന്നേ.

25. So Israel took all these cities, and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon and in all her villages;

26. ഹെശ്ബോന് അമോര്യ്യരുടെ രാജാവായ സീഹോന്റെ നഗരം ആയിരുന്നു; അവന് മുമ്പിലത്തെ മോവാബ് രാജാവിനോടു പടയെടുത്തു അര്ന്നോന് വരെ ഉള്ള അവന്റെ ദേശമൊക്കെയും അവന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു പിടിച്ചിരുന്നു.

26. for, as for Heshbon, the city of Sihon king of the Amorites, it was, he, having fought with the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, unto Arnon.

27. അതുകൊണ്ടു കവിവരന്മാര് പറയുന്നതു“ഹെശ്ബോനില് വരുവിന് ; സീഹോന്റെ നഗരം പണിതുറപ്പിക്കട്ടെ.

27. For this cause, say the poets Enter ye Heshbon, Built and prepared be the city of Sihon;

28. ഹെശ്ബോനില്നിന്നു തീയും സീഹോന്റെ നഗരത്തില്നിന്നു ജ്വാലയും പുറപ്പെട്ടു, മോവാബിലെ ആരിനെയും അര്ന്നോന് തീരത്തെ ഗിരിനിവാസികളെയും ദഹിപ്പിച്ചു.

28. For, a fire, hath come forth out of Heshbon, A flame, out of the stronghold of Sihon; It hath consumed Ar of Moab, The lords of the high places of Arnon.

29. മോവാബേ, നിനക്കു ഹാ കഷ്ടം! കെമോശിന്റെ ജനമേ, നീ മുടിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. അവന് തന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെ പലായനത്തിന്നും പുത്രിമാരെ അമോര്യ്യരാജാവായ സീഹോന്നു അടിമയായും കൊടുത്തു.

29. Woe to thee, Moab, Thou art lost, O people of Chemosh, He hath given up his sons as fugitives, And his daughters into captivity, Unto the king of the Amorites, Sihon.

30. ഞങ്ങള് അവരെ അമ്പെയ്തു; ദീബോന് വരെ ഹെശ്ബോന് നശിച്ചു; മെദബവരെയുള്ള നോഫയോളം അവരെ ശൂന്യമാക്കി.”

30. Then we shot them Heshbon is destroyed, as far as Dibon, Then laid we waste as far as Nophah, A fire reacheth unto Medeba.

31. ഇങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല് അമോര്യ്യരുടെ ദേശത്തു കുടിപാര്ത്തു.

31. So then Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites.

32. അനന്തരം മോശെ യസേരിനെ ഒറ്റുനോക്കുവാന് ആളയച്ചു; അവര് അതിന്റെ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളെ പിടിച്ചു അവിടെയുള്ള അമോര്യ്യരെ ഔടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

32. And Moses sent to spy out Jazer, and they captured the villages thereof, and dispossessed the Amorites that were there.

33. പിന്നെ അവര് തിരിഞ്ഞു ബാശാന് വഴിയായി പോയി; ബാശാന് രാജാവായ ഔഗ് തന്റെ സകലജനവുമായി അവരുടെനേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു എദ്രെയില്വെച്ചു പടയേറ്റു.

33. Then turned they, and went up by the way of Bashan, and Og, king of Bashan, came forth to meet them he and all his people, to give battle at Edrei.

34. അപ്പോള് യഹോവ മോശെയോടുഅവനെ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; അവനെയും അവന്റെ സകലജനത്തെയും അവന്റെ ദേശത്തെയും ഞാന് നിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ ഹെശ്ബോനില് പാര്ത്ത അമോര്യ്യരാജാവായ സീഹോനോടു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അവനോടും ചെയ്യും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

34. Then said Yahweh unto Moses Do not fear him, for into thy hand, have I delivered him and all his people, and his land, Therefore shalt thou do unto him, as thou didst unto Sihon king of he Amorites, who was dwelling in Heshbon.

35. അങ്ങനെ അവര് അവനെയും അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും അവന്റെ സകലജനത്തെയും ഒട്ടൊഴിയാതെ സംഹരിച്ചു, അവന്റെ ദേശത്തെ കൈവശമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

35. So then they smote him and his sons and all his people, until there was not left him a remnant, and took possession of his land.
