1. അനന്തരം യഹോവ മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു

1. And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

2. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള്ക്കു വേണ്ടി മിദ്യാന്യരോടു പ്രതികാരം നടത്തുക; അതിന്റെ ശേഷം നീ നിന്റെ ജനത്തോടു ചേരും.

2. Avenge the wrongs of the children of Israel on the Midianites, and afterwards you shall be added to your people.

3. അപ്പോള് മോശെ ജനത്തോടു സംസാരിച്ചുമിദ്യാന്യരുടെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു യഹോവേക്കുവേണ്ടി മിദ്യാനോടു പ്രതികാരം നടത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങളില്നിന്നു ആളുകളെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു ഒരുക്കുവിന് .

3. And Moses spoke to the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves for war, and set yourselves in array before the Lord against Midian, to inflict vengeance on Midian from the Lord.

4. നിങ്ങള് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ സകലഗോത്രങ്ങളിലും ഔരോന്നില്നിന്നു ആയിരംപോരെ വീതം യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു അയക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. Send a thousand of each tribe from all the tribes of the children of Israel to set themselves in array.

5. അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്യസഹസ്രങ്ങളില്നിന്നു ഔരോ ഗോത്രത്തില് ആയിരം പേര് വീതം പന്തീരായിരം പേരെ യുദ്ധസന്നദ്ധരായി വേര്തിരിച്ചു.

5. And they numbered of the thousands of Israel a thousand of [each] tribe, twelve thousand; [these were] armed for war.

6. മോശെ ഔരോ ഗോത്രത്തില്നിന്നു ആയിരം പേര് വീതമുള്ള അവരെയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിന്റെ മകന് ഫീനെഹാസിനെയും യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു അയച്ചു; അവന്റെ കൈവശം വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തിലെ ഉപകരണങ്ങളും ഗംഭീരനാദകാഹളങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

6. And Moses sent them away, a thousand of every tribe with their forces, and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest. And the holy instruments, and the signal trumpets [were] in their hands.

7. യഹോവ മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അവര് മിദ്യാന്യരോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തു ആണുങ്ങളെ ഒക്കെയും കൊന്നു.

7. And they set themselves in array against Midian, as the Lord commanded Moses; and they killed every male.

8. നിഹതന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് അവര് മിദ്യാന്യ രാജാക്കന്മാരായ ഏവി, രേക്കെം, സൂര്, ഹൂര്, രേബ എന്നീ അഞ്ചു രാജാക്കന്മാരെയും കൊന്നു; ബെയോരിന്റെ മകനായ ബിലെയാമിനെയും അവര് വാളുകൊണ്ടു കൊന്നു.

8. And they killed the kings of Midian together with their slain [subjects]; even Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian; and they killed with the sword Balaam the son of Beor with their [other] slain.

9. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് മിദ്യാന്യസ്ത്രീകളെയും അവരുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയും ബദ്ധരാക്കി; അവരുടെ സകലവാഹനമൃഗങ്ങളെയും ആടുമാടുകളെയും അവരുടെ സമ്പത്തൊക്കെയും കൊള്ളയിട്ടു.

9. And they made a prey of the women of Midian, and their store, and their cattle, and all their possessions; and they spoiled their forces.

10. അവര് പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന എല്ലാപട്ടണങ്ങളും എല്ലാപാളയങ്ങളും തീയിട്ടു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

10. And they burned with fire all their cities in the places of their habitation, and they burned their villages with fire.

11. അവര് എല്ലാകൊള്ളയും മനുഷ്യരും മൃഗങ്ങളുമായുള്ള അപഹൃതമൊക്കെയും എടുത്തു.

11. And they took all their plunder, and all their spoils, both man and beast.

12. ബദ്ധന്മാരെ അപഹൃതത്തോടും കൊള്ളയോടുംകൂടെ യെരീഹോവിന്റെ സമീപത്തു യോര്ദ്ദാന്നരികെയുള്ള മോവാബ് സമഭൂമിയില് പാളയത്തിലേക്കു മോശെയുടെയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിന്റെയും യിസ്രായേല്സഭയുടെയും അടുക്കല്കൊണ്ടു വന്നു.

12. And they brought to Moses and to Eleazar the priest, and to all the children of Israel, the captives, and the spoils, and the plunder, to the camp to Araboth Moab, which is at the Jordan by Jericho.

13. മോശെയും പുരോഹിതന് എലെയാസാരും സഭയുടെ സകലപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും പാളയത്തിന്നു പുറത്തു അവരെ എതിരേറ്റു ചെന്നു.

13. And Moses and Eleazar the priest and all the rulers of the synagogue went forth out of the camp to meet them.

14. എന്നാല് മോശെ യുദ്ധത്തില്നിന്നു വന്നിട്ടുള്ള സഹസ്രാധിപന്മാരും ശതാധിപന്മാരുമായ സൈന്യനായകന്മാരോടു കോപിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

14. And Moses was angry with the captains of the army, the heads of thousands and the heads of hundreds who came from the battle array.

15. നിങ്ങള് സ്ത്രീകളെയെല്ലാം ജീവനോടെ വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

15. And Moses said to them, Why have you saved every female alive?

16. ഇവരത്രേ പെയോരിന്റെ സംഗതിയില് ബിലെയാമിന്റെ ഉപദേശത്താല് യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് യഹോവയോടു ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്വാനും യഹോവയുടെ സഭയില് ബാധ ഉണ്ടാവാനും ഹോതുവായതു.

16. For they were [the occasion] to the children of Israel by the word of Balaam of their revolting and despising the word of the Lord, because of Peor. And there was a plague in the congregation of the Lord.

17. ആകയാല് ഇപ്പോള് കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളിലുള്ള ആണിനെയൊക്കെയും പുരുഷനോടുകൂടെ ശയിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള സകലസ്ത്രീകളെയും കൊന്നുകളവിന് .

17. Now then kill every male in all the spoil, kill every woman, who has known a man intimately.

18. പുരുഷനോടുകൂടെ ശയിക്കാത്ത പെണ്കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ ജീവനോടു വെച്ചുകൊള്വിന് .

18. And as for all the captivity of women, who have not known a man intimately, keep them alive.

19. നിങ്ങള് ഏഴു ദിവസം പാളയത്തിന്നു പുറത്തു പാര്ക്കേണം; ഒരുത്തനെ കൊന്നവനും കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടവനെ തൊട്ടവനുമെല്ലാം മൂന്നാം ദിവസവും ഏഴാം ദിവസവും തങ്ങളെയും തങ്ങളുടെ ബദ്ധന്മാരെയും ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കേണം.

19. And you shall remain outside the camp for seven days; whoever has killed, and whoever has touched a dead body, shall be purified on the third day, and you and your captivity [shall purify yourselves] on the seventh day.

20. സകലവസ്ത്രവും തോല്കൊണ്ടുള്ള എല്ലാകോപ്പും കോലാട്ടുരോമംകൊണ്ടുണ്ടാക്കിയതൊക്കെയും മരംകൊണ്ടുള്ള സകലസാധനവും ശുദ്ധീകരിപ്പിന് .

20. And you shall purify every garment and every leather utensil, and all furniture of goat skin, and every wooden vessel.

21. പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാര് യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോയിരുന്ന യോദ്ധാക്കളോടു പറഞ്ഞതുയഹോവ മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള ന്യായപ്രമാണം ആവിതു

21. And Eleazar the priest said to the men of the army that came from the battle array, This [is] the ordinance of the law which the Lord has commanded Moses.

22. പൊന്നു, വെള്ളി, ചെമ്പു, ഇരിമ്പു,

22. Beside the gold, the silver, the brass, the iron, the lead, and the tin,

23. വെള്ളീയും, കാരീയം, മുതലായി തീയില് നശിച്ചുപോകാത്ത സാധനമൊക്കെയും തീയില് ഇട്ടെടുക്കേണം; എന്നാല് അതു ശുദ്ധമാകും; എങ്കിലും ശുദ്ധീകരണജലത്താലും അതു ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കേണം. തീയില് നശിച്ചുപോകുന്നതെല്ലാം നിങ്ങള് വെള്ളത്തില് മുക്കിയെടുക്കേണം.

23. everything that shall pass through the fire shall so be clean, nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of sanctification; and whatsoever will not pass through the fire shall pass through water.

24. ഏഴാം ദിവസം വസ്ത്രം അലക്കി ശുദ്ധിയുള്ളവരായശേഷം നിങ്ങള്ക്കു പാളയത്തിലേക്കു വരാം.

24. And on the seventh day you shall wash your garments and be clean; and afterwards you shall come into the camp.

25. പിന്നെ യഹോവ മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു

25. And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

26. നീയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരും സഭയിലെ ഗോത്രപ്രധാനികളും കൊള്ളയായി പിടിക്കപ്പെട്ട മനുഷ്യരുടെയും മൃഗങ്ങളുടെയും തുക നോക്കി

26. Take the sum of the spoils of the captivity both of man and beast, you and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the families of the congregation.

27. പടെക്കുപോയ യോദ്ധാക്കള്ക്കും സഭെക്കും ഇങ്ങനെ രണ്ടു ഔഹരിയായി കൊള്ള വിഭാഗിപ്പിന് .

27. And you shall divide the spoils between the warriors that went out to battle, and the whole congregation.

28. യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോയ യോദ്ധാക്കളോടു മനുഷ്യരിലും മാടു, കഴുത, ആടു എന്നിവയിലും അഞ്ഞൂറ്റില് ഒന്നു യഹോവയുടെ ഔഹരിയായി വാങ്ങേണം.

28. And you shall take a tribute for the Lord from the warriors that went out to battle; one soul out of five hundred, from the men and from the cattle, even from the oxen, and from the sheep, and from the donkeys; and you shall take from their half.

29. അവര്ക്കുംള്ള പാതിയില്നിന്നു അതു എടുത്തു യഹോവേക്കു ഉദര്ച്ചാര്പ്പണമായി പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിന്നു കൊടുക്കേണം.

29. And you shall give [them] to Eleazar the priest [as] the firstfruits of the Lord.

30. എന്നാല് യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള്ക്കുള്ള പാതിയില്നിന്നു മനുഷ്യരിലും മാടു, കഴുത, ആടു മുതലായ സകലവിധമൃഗത്തിലും അമ്പതില് ഒന്നു എടുത്തു യഹോവയുടെ തിരുനിവാസത്തിലെ വേലചെയ്യുന്ന ലേവ്യര്ക്കും കൊടുക്കേണം.

30. And from the half belonging to the children of Israel you shall take one in fifty from the men, and from the oxen, and from the sheep, and from the donkeys, and from all the cattle; and you shall give them to the Levites that keep the charges in the tabernacle of the Lord.

31. യഹോവ മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ മോശെയും എലെയാസാരും ചെയ്തു.

31. And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the Lord commanded Moses.

32. യോദ്ധാക്കള് കൈവശമാക്കിയതിന്നു പുറമെയുള്ള കൊള്ള ആറു ലക്ഷത്തെഴുപത്തയ്യായിരം ആടും

32. And that which remained of the spoil which the warriors took was six hundred and seventy-five thousand, among the sheep.

33. എഴുപത്തീരായിരം മാടും

33. And oxen, seventy-two thousand;

34. അറുപത്തോരായിരം കഴുതയും

34. and donkeys, sixty-one thousand;

35. പുരുഷനോടുകൂടെ ശയിക്കാത്ത പെണ്ണുങ്ങള് എല്ലാംകൂടി മുപ്പത്തീരായിരംപേരും ആയിരുന്നു.

35. and of women who had not known a man intimately [were] thirty-two thousand.

36. യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോയവരുടെ ഔഹരിക്കുള്ള പാതിയില് ആടു മൂന്നുലക്ഷത്തി മുപ്പത്തേഴായിരത്തഞ്ഞൂറു.

36. And the half, [even] the portion of them that went out to war, from the number of the sheep, was three hundred and thirty-seven thousand five hundred.

37. ആടില് യഹോവേക്കുള്ള ഔഹരി അറുനൂറ്റെഴുപത്തഞ്ചു;

37. And the tribute to the Lord from the sheep was six hundred and seventy-five.

38. കന്നുകാലി മുപ്പത്താറായിരം; അതില് യഹോവേക്കുള്ള ഔഹരി എഴുപത്തുരണ്ടു;

38. And the oxen, thirty-six thousand, and the tribute to the Lord seventy-two.

39. കഴുത മുപ്പതിനായിരത്തഞ്ഞൂറു; അതില് യഹോവേക്കുള്ള ഔഹരി അറുപത്തൊന്നു;

39. And donkeys, thirty thousand five hundred, and the tribute to the Lord [was] sixty-one.

40. ആള് പതിനാറായിരം; അവരില് യഹോവേക്കുള്ള ഔഹരി മുപ്പത്തി രണ്ടു.

40. And the persons [were] sixteen thousand, and the tribute of them to the Lord [was] thirty-two souls.

41. യഹോവേക്കു ഉദര്ച്ചാര്പ്പണമായിരുന്ന ഔഹരി യഹോവ മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ചതു പോലെ മോശെ പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിന്നു കൊടുത്തു.

41. And Moses gave the tribute to the Lord, the heave offering of God, to Eleazar the priest, as the Lord commanded Moses;

42. മോശെ പടയാളികളുടെ പക്കല് നിന്നു യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള്ക്കു വിഭാഗിച്ചുകൊടുത്ത പാതിയില്നിന്നു -

42. from the half belonging to the children of Israel, whom Moses separated from the men of war.

43. സഭെക്കുള്ള പാതി മൂന്നു ലക്ഷത്തി മുപ്പത്തേഴായിരത്തഞ്ഞൂറു ആടും

43. And the half [taken] from the sheep, belonging to the congregation, was three hundred and thirty-seven thousand five hundred.

44. മുപ്പത്താറായിരം മാടും

44. And the oxen, thirty-six thousand;

45. , 46 മുപ്പതിനായിരത്തഞ്ഞൂറു കഴുതയും പതിനാറായിരം ആളും ആയിരുന്നു -

45. [and the] donkeys, thirty thousand five hundred;

46. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ പാതിയില്നിന്നു മോശെ മനുഷ്യരിലും മൃഗങ്ങളിലും അമ്പതില് ഒന്നു എടുത്തു യഹോവ മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ യഹോവയുടെ തിരുനിവാസത്തിലെ വേല ചെയ്യുന്ന ലേവ്യര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തു.

46. and persons, sixteen thousand.

47. പിന്നെ സൈന്യസഹസ്രങ്ങള്ക്കു നായകന്മാരായ സഹസ്രാധിപന്മാരും ശതാധിപന്മാരും മോശെയുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു മോശെയോടു

47. And Moses took of the half belonging to the children of Israel the fiftieth part, of men and of cattle, and he gave them to the Levites who keep the charges of the tabernacle of the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.

48. അടിയങ്ങള് അടിയങ്ങളുടെ കീഴുള്ള യോദ്ധാക്കളുടെ തുക നോക്കി, ഒരുത്തനും കുറഞ്ഞു പോയിട്ടില്ല.

48. And all those who were appointed to be officers of thousands of the army, captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, approached Moses, and said to Moses,

49. അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ഔരോരുത്തന്നു കിട്ടിയ പൊന്നാഭരണങ്ങളായ മാല, കൈവള, മോതിരം, കുണുകൂ, കടകം എന്നിവ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം കഴിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങള് യഹോവേക്കു വഴിപാടായി കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

49. Your servants have taken the sum of the men of war with us, and not one is missing.

50. മോശെയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരും വിചിത്രപ്പണിയുള്ള ആഭരണങ്ങളായ പൊന്നു അവരോടു വാങ്ങി.

50. And we have brought our gift to the Lord, [every] man who has found an article of gold, whether an armlet, or a chain, or a ring, or a bracelet, or a clasp for hair, to make atonement for us before the Lord.

51. സഹസ്രാധിപന്മാരും ശതാധിപന്മാരും യഹോവേക്കു ഉദര്ച്ചാര്പ്പണം ചെയ്ത പൊന്നു എല്ലാം കൂടെ പതിനാറായിരത്തെഴുനൂറ്റമ്പതു ശേക്കെല് ആയിരുന്നു.

51. And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from them, even every wrought article.

52. യോദ്ധാക്കളില് ഒരോരുത്തന്നും താന്താന്നു വേണ്ടി കൊള്ളയിട്ടു എടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

52. And all the wrought gold, even the offering that they offered to the Lord, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels from the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds.

53. മോശെയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരും സഹാസ്രാധിപന്മാരോടും ശതാധിപന്മാരോടും ആ പൊന്നു വാങ്ങി യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ ഔര്മ്മെക്കായി സമാഗമനക്കുടാരത്തില്കൊണ്ടു പോയി.

53. For the men of war took plunder, every man for himself.
