1. അനന്തരം യേശു പുരുഷാരത്തോടും തന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടും പറഞ്ഞതു

1. Then spake Iesus to the multitudes, and to his disciples,

2. “ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും പരീശന്മാരും മോശെയുടെ പീഠത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

2. Saying: The Scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moyses seate.

3. ആകയാല് അവര് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നതു ഒക്കെയും പ്രമാണിച്ചു ചെയ്വിന് ; അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികള് പോലെ ചെയ്യരുതു താനും. അവര് പറയുന്നതല്ലാതെ ചെയ്യുന്നില്ലല്ലോ.

3. All therfore, whatsoeuer they bid you obserue, that obserue and do: but do not ye after their workes, for they say, and do not.

4. അവര് ഘനമുള്ള ചുമടുകളെ കെട്ടി മനുഷ്യരുടെ തോളില് വെക്കുന്നു; ഒരു വിരല് കെണ്ടുപോലും അവയെ തൊടുവാന് അവര്ക്കും മനസ്സില്ല.

4. Yea, they bynde together heauy burthens, and greeuous to be borne, and lay them on mens shoulders: but they them selues wyll not moue them with [one] of their fingers.

5. അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികള് എല്ലാം മനുഷ്യര് കാണേണ്ടതിന്നത്രേ ചെയ്യുന്നതു; തങ്ങളുടെ മന്ത്രപ്പട്ട വീതിയാക്കി തൊങ്ങല് വലുതാക്കുന്നു.

5. All their workes they do, for to be sene of men: They make broade their philacteries, and enlarge the hemmes of their garmentes.

6. And loue the vppermost seates at feastes, and to syt in the chiefe place in councels,

7. അങ്ങാടിയില് വന്ദനവും മനുഷ്യര് റബ്ബീ എന്നു വളിക്കുന്നതും അവര്ക്കും പ്രിയമാകുന്നു.

7. And greetynges in the markettes, and to be called of men, Rabbi.

8. നിങ്ങളോ റബ്ബീ എന്നു പേര് എടുക്കരുതു. ഒരുത്തന് അത്രേ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഗുരു;

8. But be not ye called Rabbi: For one is your maister, [euen] Christe, and all ye are brethren.

9. നിങ്ങളോ എല്ലാവരും സഹോദരന്മാര്. ഭൂമിയില് ആരെയും പിതാവു എന്നു വിളിക്കരുതു; ഒരുത്തന് അത്രേ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവു, സ്വര്ഗ്ഗസ്ഥന് തന്നേ.

9. And call [no man] your father, vpon the earth: for one is your father, which is in heauen.

10. നിങ്ങള് നായകന്മാര് എന്നും പേര് എടുക്കരുതു, ഒരുത്തന് അത്രേ നിങ്ങളുടെ നായകന് , ക്രിസ്തു തന്നെ.

10. Neither be ye called maisters: for one is your maister [euen] Christe.

11. നിങ്ങളില് ഏറ്റവും വലിയവന് നിങ്ങളുടെ ശുശ്രൂഷക്കാരന് ആകേണം.

11. He that is greatest among you, shalbe your seruaunt.

12. തന്നെത്താന് ഉയര്ത്തുന്നവന് എല്ലാം താഴ്ത്തപ്പെടും; തന്നെത്താന് താഴ്ത്തുന്നവന് എല്ലാം ഉയര്ത്തപ്പെടും.

12. But whosoeuer exalteth hym selfe, shalbe brought lowe: And he that humbleth hym selfe, shalbe exalted.

13. കപടഭക്തിക്കാരായ ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും പരീശന്മാരുമായുള്ളോരേ, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഹാ കഷ്ടം; നിങ്ങള് മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും സ്വര്ഗ്ഗരാജ്യം അടെച്ചുകളയുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് കടക്കുന്നില്ല, കടക്കുന്നവരെ കടപ്പാന് സമ്മതിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല. (കപടഭക്തിക്കാരായ ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും പരീശന്മാരുമായുള്ളോരേ, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഹാ കഷ്ടം; നിങ്ങള് വിധവമാരുടെ വീടുകളെ വിഴുങ്ങുകയും ഉപായരൂപേണ ദീര്ഘമായി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; ഇതു ഹേതുവായി നിങ്ങള്ക്കു കടുമയേറിയ ശിക്ഷാവിധി വരും;)

13. Wo vnto you Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: for ye shut vp the kingdome of heauen before men: ye neither go in your selues, neither suffer ye them that come, to enter in.

14. കപടഭക്തിക്കാരായ ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും പരീശന്മാരുമായുള്ളോരേ, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഹാ കഷ്ടം; നിങ്ങള് ഒരുത്തനെ മതത്തില് ചേര്ക്കുംവാന് കടലും കരയും ചുറ്റി നടക്കുന്നു; ചേര്ന്നശേഷം അവനെ നിങ്ങളെക്കാള് ഇരട്ടിച്ച നരകയോഗ്യന് ആക്കുന്നു.

14. Wo vnto you Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: for ye deuoure widdowes houses, and that vnder a pretence of long prayer: therfore ye shall receaue the greater dampnation.

15. ആരെങ്കിലും മന്ദിരത്തെച്ചൊല്ലി സത്യം ചെയ്താല് ഏതുമില്ല എന്നും മന്ദിരത്തിലെ സ്വര്ണ്ണത്തെച്ചൊല്ലി സത്യം ചെയ്യുന്നവനോ കടക്കാരന് എന്നും പറയുന്ന കുരുടന്മാരായ വഴികാട്ടികളേ, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഹാ കഷ്ടം.

15. Wo vnto you Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: for ye compasse sea and lande, to make one proselite: & when he is become one, ye make hym two folde more the chylde of hell, then ye your selues [are].

16. മൂഢന്മാരും കുരുടുന്മാരുമായുള്ളോരേ, ഏതു വലിയതു? സ്വര്ണ്ണമോ സ്വര്ണ്ണത്തെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്ന മന്ദിരമോ?

16. Wo be vnto you ye blynde guides: for ye say, whosoeuer doth sweare by the temple, it is nothyng: but whosoeuer sweareth by the golde of the temple, he is a detter.

17. യാഗപീഠത്തെച്ചൊല്ലി സത്യം ചെയ്താല് ഏതുമില്ല; അതിന്മേലുള്ള വഴിപാടു ചൊല്ലി സത്യം ചെയ്യുന്നവനോ കടക്കാരന് എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നു.

17. Ye fooles and blynde. For whether is greater, the golde, or the temple that sanctifieth the golde?

18. കുരുടന്മാരായുള്ളോരേ, ഏതു വലിയതു? വഴിപാടോ വഴിപാടിനെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്ന യാഗ പീഠമോ?

18. And whosoeuer sweareth by the aulter, it is nothyng: but whosoeuer sweareth by the gyft that is vpon it, he is a detter.

19. ആകയാല് യാഗപിഠത്തെച്ചൊല്ലി സത്യം ചെയ്യുന്നവന് അതിനെയും അതിന്മേലുള്ള സകലത്തെയും ചൊല്ലി സത്യം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

19. Ye fooles and blynde, for whether is greater, the gyft: or the aulter that sanctifieth the gyft?

20. മന്ദിരത്തെച്ചൊല്ലി സത്യം ചെയ്യുന്നവന് അതിനെയും അതില് വസിക്കുന്നവനെയും ചൊല്ലി സത്യം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

20. Who so therfore sweareth by the aulter, sweareth by it, and by all thynges theron.

21. സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തെച്ചൊല്ലി സത്യംചെയ്യുന്നവന് , ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തെയും അതില് ഇരിക്കുന്നവനെയും ചൊല്ലി സത്യം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

21. And who so sweareth by the temple, sweareth by it, and by hym that dwelleth therin.

22. കപട ഭക്തിക്കാരായ ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും പരീശന്മാരുമായുള്ളോരേ, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഹാ കഷ്ടം; നിങ്ങള് തുളസി, ചതകുപ്പ, ജീരകം ഇവയില് പതാരം കൊടുക്കയും ന്യായം, കരുണ, വിശ്വസ്തത ഇങ്ങനെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില് ഘനമേറിയവ ത്യജിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. അതു ചെയ്കയും ഇതു ത്യജിക്കാതിരിക്കയും വേണം.

22. And he that sweareth by heauen, sweareth by the seate of God, and by hym that sitteth theron.

23. കുരുടന്മാരായ വഴികാട്ടികളേ, നിങ്ങള് കൊതുകിനെ അരിച്ചെടുക്കയും ഒട്ടകത്തെ വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

23. Wo vnto you Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye tythe mynt, and annise, and cummyn: and haue left the wayghtier matters of the lawe, iudgement, mercy, and fayth. These ought ye to haue done, and not to leaue the other vndone.

24. കപടഭക്തിക്കാരായ ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും പരീശന്മാരുമായുള്ളോരേ, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഹാ കഷ്ടം; നിങ്ങള് കിണ്ടികിണ്ണങ്ങളുടെ പുറം വെടിപ്പാക്കുന്നു; അകത്തോ കവര്ച്ചയും അതിക്രമവും നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

24. Ye blynde guides, which strayne out a gnat, and swalowe a Camel.

25. കുരുടനായ പരീശനെ, കിണ്ടികിണ്ണങ്ങളുടെ പുറം വെടിപ്പാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു മുമ്പെ അവയുടെ അകം വെടിപ്പാക്കുക.

25. Wo vnto you Scribes and Pharisees hypocrites: for ye make cleane the vtter syde of the cup, & of the platter: but within they are full of brybery & excesse.

26. കപടഭക്തിക്കാരായ ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും പരീശന്മാരുമായുള്ളോരേ, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഹാ കഷ്ടം; വെള്ളതേച്ച ശവക്കല്ലറകളോടു നിങ്ങള് ഒത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവ പുറമെ അഴകായി ശോഭിക്കുന്നെങ്കിലും അകമെ ചത്തവരുടെ അസ്ഥികളും സകലവിധ അശുദ്ധിയും നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. Thou blynde Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outsyde of them may be cleane also.

27. അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ പുറമെ നിങ്ങള് നീതിമാന്മാര് എന്നു മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും തോന്നുന്നു; അകമെയോ കപടഭക്തിയും അധര്മ്മവും നിറഞ്ഞവരത്രേ.

27. Wo vnto you Scribes and Pharisees hypocrites: for ye are lyke vnto paynted sepulchres, which in dede appeare beautifull outwarde, but are within full of dead [mens] bones, and of all fylthynes.

28. കപടഭക്തിക്കാരായ ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും പരീശന്മാരുമായുള്ളോരേ, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഹാ കഷ്ടം; നിങ്ങള് പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ കല്ലറകളെ പണിതും നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ കല്ലറകളെ അലങ്കരിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു

28. Euen so, ye also, outwardly appeare ryghteous vnto men: But within, ye are full of hypocrisie and iniquitie.

29. ഞങ്ങള് പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ കാലത്തു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എങ്കില് പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ കൊല്ലുന്നതില് കൂട്ടാളികള് ആകയില്ലായിരുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്നു.

29. Wo vnto you Scribes and Pharisees hypocrites: ye builde the tombes of the Prophetes, and garnishe the sepulchres of the ryghteous:

30. അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങള് പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ കൊന്നവരുടെ മക്കള് എന്നു നിങ്ങള് തന്നേ സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

30. And say, yf we had ben in the dayes of our fathers, we woulde not haue ben parteners with them in the blood of the prophetes.

31. പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അളവു നിങ്ങള് പൂരിച്ചു കൊള്വിന് .

31. And so ye be witnesses vnto your selues, that ye are the chyldren of them which kylled the prophetes.

32. പാമ്പുകളേ, സര്പ്പസന്തതികളേ, നിങ്ങള് നരകവിധി എങ്ങനെ ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകും?

32. Fulfyll ye lykewyse, the measure of your fathers.

33. അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് പ്രവാചകന്മാരെയും ജ്ഞാനികളെയും ശാസ്ത്രിമാരെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് അയക്കുന്നു; അവരില് ചിലരെ നിങ്ങള് ക്രൂശിച്ചു കൊല്ലുകയും ചിലരെ നിങ്ങളുടെ പള്ളികളില് ചമ്മട്ടികൊണ്ടു അടിക്കയും പട്ടണത്തില് നിന്നു പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു ഔടിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

33. Ye serpentes, ye generation of vipers, howe wyll ye escape the dampnation of hell?

34. നീതിമാനായ ഹാബേലിന്റെ രക്തംമുതല് നിങ്ങള് മന്ദിരത്തിന്നും യാഗപീഠത്തിന്നും നടുവില്വെച്ചു കൊന്നവനായി ബെരെഖ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ സെഖര്യാവിന്റെ രക്തംവരെ ഭൂമിയില് ചൊരിഞ്ഞ നീതിയുള്ള രക്തം എല്ലാം നിങ്ങളുടെമേല് വരേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

34. Wherfore, beholde I sende vnto you prophetes, and wyse men, and Scribes, and [some] of them ye shall kyll and crucifie: and [some] of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from citie to citie.

35. ഇതൊക്കെയും ഈ തലമുറമേല് വരും എന്നു ഞാന് സത്യമായിട്ടു നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

35. That vpon you may come all the ryghteous blood, which hath ben shed vpon the earth, from the blood of ryghteous Abel, vnto the blood of Zacharias, sonne of Barachias, whom ye slewe betwene the temple & the aulter.

36. യെരൂശലേമേ, യെരൂശലേമേ, പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ കൊല്ലുകയും നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവരെ കല്ലെറികയും ചെയ്യുന്നവളേ, കോഴി തന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ ചിറകിന് കീഴില് ചേര്ക്കുംപോലെ നിന്റെ മക്കളെ ചേര്ത്തുകൊള്വാന് എനിക്കു എത്രവട്ടം മനസ്സായിരുന്നു; നിങ്ങള്ക്കോ മനസ്സായില്ല.

36. Ueryly I say vnto you: all these thynges shal come vpon this generatio.

37. നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭവനം ശൂന്യമായ്തീരും.

37. O Hierusalem, Hierusalem, thou that kyllest the prophetes, and stonest them which are sent vnto thee: Howe often woulde I haue gathered thy chyldren together, euen as the henne gathereth her chickens vnder her wynges, and ye woulde not?

38. 'കര്ത്താവിന്റെ നാമത്തില് വരുന്നവന് അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന്' എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറയുവോളം നിങ്ങള് ഇനി എന്നെ കാണുകയില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.”

38. Beholde, your house is left vnto you desolate.
