1. അവന് ഗന്നേസരെത്ത് തടാകത്തിന്റെ കരയില് നിലക്കുമ്പോള് പുരുഷാരം ദൈവവചനം കേള്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ തിക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കയില്

1. Now it came to pass, while the crowd pressed upon Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret,

2. രണ്ടു പടകു കരെക്കു അടുത്തു നിലക്കുന്നതു അവന് കണ്ടു; അവയില് നിന്നു മീന് പിടിക്കാര് ഇറങ്ങി വല കഴുകുകയായിരുന്നു.

2. and He saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen, [after] getting out of them, were washing their nets.

3. ആ പടകുകളില് ശിമോന്നുള്ളതായ ഒന്നില് അവന് കയറി കരയില് നിന്നു അല്പം നീക്കേണം എന്നു അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ അവന് പടകില് ഇരുന്നു പുരുഷാരത്തെ ഉപദേശിച്ചു.

3. Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and He asked him to put out a little from the land. And sitting down, He began to teach the crowds from the boat.

4. സംസാരിച്ചു തീര്ന്നപ്പോള് അവന് ശിമോനോടുആഴത്തിലേക്കു നീക്കി മീമ്പിടിത്തത്തിന്നു വല ഇറക്കുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. Now when He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, 'Put out into the deep and lower your nets for a catch.'

5. അതിന്നു ശിമോന് നാഥാ, ഞങ്ങള് രാത്രി മുഴുവനും അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചിട്ടും ഒന്നും കിട്ടിയില്ല; എങ്കിലും നിന്റെ വാക്കിന്നു ഞാന് വല ഇറക്കാം എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

5. But Simon answered and said to Him, 'Master, we have labored all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will lower the net.'

6. അവര് അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തപ്പോള് പെരുത്തു മീന് കൂട്ടം അകപ്പെട്ടു വല കീറാറായി.

6. And when they had done this, they caught a great multitude of fish, and their net was tearing.

7. അവര് മറ്റെ പടകിലുള്ള കൂട്ടാളികള് വന്നു സഹായിപ്പാന് അവരെ മാടിവിളിച്ചു. അവര് വന്നു പടകു രണ്ടും മുങ്ങുമാറാകുവോളും നിറെച്ചു.

7. So they beckoned to their partners who were in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they were sinking.

8. ശിമോന് പത്രൊസ് അതു കണ്ടിട്ടു യേശുവിന്റെ കാല്ക്കല് വീണുകര്ത്താവേ, ഞാന് പാപിയായ മനുഷ്യന് ആകകൊണ്ടു എന്നെ വിട്ടുപോകേണമേ എന്നു പറഞഞു.

8. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, 'Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!'

9. അവര്ക്കും ഉണ്ടായ മീമ്പിടിത്തത്തില് അവന്നു അവനോടു കൂടെയുള്ളവര്ക്കും എല്ലാവര്ക്കും സംഭ്രമം പിടിച്ചിരുന്നു.

9. For astonishment gripped him and all who were with him at the haul of fish which they had taken.

10. ശിമോന്റെ കൂട്ടാളികളായ യാക്കോബ് യോഹന്നാന് എന്ന സെബെദിമക്കള്ക്കും അവ്വണ്ണം തന്നേ. യേശു ശിമോനോടുഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ ഇന്നു മുതല് നീ മനുഷ്യരെ പിടിക്കുന്നവന് ആകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. And likewise also [it gripped] James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, 'Do not fear; from now on you shall be catching men.'

11. പിന്നെ അവര് പടകുകളെ കരെക്കു അടുപ്പിച്ചിട്ടു സകലവും വിട്ടു അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ചു.

11. And having brought the boats to land, they left everything and followed Him.

12. അവന് ഒരു പട്ടണത്തില് ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള് കുഷ്ഠം നിറഞ്ഞോരു മനുഷ്യന് യേശുവിനെ കണ്ടു കവിണ്ണു വീണുകര്ത്താവേ, നിനക്കു മനസ്സുണ്ടെങ്കില് എന്നെ ശുദ്ധമാക്കുവാന് കഴിയും എന്നു അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

12. And it came to pass while He was in a certain city, that behold, there was a man full of leprosy. And when he saw Jesus, falling on his face he begged Him, saying, 'Lord, if You are willing, You can cleanse me.'

13. യേശു കൈ നീട്ടി അവനെ തൊട്ടുഎനിക്കു മനസ്സുണ്ടു; ശുദ്ധമാക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഉടനെ കുഷ്ഠം വിട്ടു മാറി.

13. And reaching out His hand, He touched him, saying, 'I am willing; be cleansed.' Immediately the leprosy departed from him.

14. അവന് അവനോടുഇതു ആരോടും പറയരുതു; എന്നാല് പോയി നിന്നെത്തന്നേ പുരോഹിതന്നു കാണിച്ചു, അവര്ക്കും സാക്ഷ്യത്തിന്നായി മോശെ കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ നിന്റെ ശുദ്ധീകരണത്തിന്നുള്ള വഴിപാടു അര്പ്പിക്ക എന്നു അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചു.

14. And He ordered him to tell no one, 'But go and show yourself to the priest, and bring an offering for your cleansing, as a testimony to them, just as Moses prescribed.'

15. എന്നാല് അവനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള വര്ത്തമാനം അധികം പരന്നു. വളരെ പുരുഷാരം വചനം കേള്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും കൂടി വന്നു.

15. But the report about Him spread all the more; and great crowds came together to hear, and to be healed by Him from their sicknesses.

16. അവനോ നിര്ജ്ജനദേശത്തു വാങ്ങിപ്പോയി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

16. But He Himself would withdraw into the wilderness and would pray.

17. അവന് ഒരു ദിവസം ഉപദേശിക്കുമ്പോള് ഗലീലയിലും യെഹൂദ്യയിലുമുള്ള സകലഗ്രാമത്തില്നിന്നും യെരൂശലേമില്നിന്നും വന്ന പരീശന്മാരും ന്യായശാസ്ത്രിമാരും അവിടെ ഇരുന്നിരുന്നു. സൌഖ്യമാക്കുവാന് കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ശക്തി അവനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

17. Now it happened on a certain day that He was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there, who had come out of every village of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was [present] to heal them.

18. അപ്പോള് ചില ആളുകള് പക്ഷവാതം പിടിച്ച ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ കിടക്കയില് എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവനെ അകത്തുകൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് വെപ്പാന് ശ്രമിച്ചു.

18. And behold, men [were] carrying on a bed a man who was paralyzed, and they were seeking to bring him in and to lay [him] before Him.

19. പുരുഷാരം ഹേതുവായി അവനെ അകത്തു കൊണ്ടുചെല്ലുവാന് വഴി കാണാഞ്ഞിട്ടു പുരമേല് കയറി ഔടു നീക്കി അവനെ കിടക്കയോടെ നടുവില് യേശുവിന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഇറക്കിവെച്ചു.

19. And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, going up on the roof, they lowered him down with his bed through the tiles into the midst in front of Jesus.

20. അവരുടെ വിശ്വാസം കണ്ടിട്ടു. അവന് മനുഷ്യാ, നിന്റെ പാപങ്ങള് മോചിച്ചുതന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. And seeing their faith, He said to him, 'Man, your sins have been forgiven you.'

21. ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും പരീശന്മാരുംദൈവദൂഷണം പറയുന്ന ഇവന് ആര്? ദൈവം ഒരുവന് അല്ലാതെ പാപങ്ങളെ മോചിപ്പാന് കഴിയുന്നവന് ആര് എന്നു ചിന്തിച്ചുതുടങ്ങി.

21. And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, 'Who is this [Man] who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins except God alone?'

22. യേശു അവരുടെ ചിന്തകളെ അറിഞ്ഞു അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് ഹൃദയത്തില് ചിന്തിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു?

22. But when Jesus perceived their reasonings, He answered and said to them, 'Why are you reasoning in your hearts?

23. നിന്റെ പാപങ്ങള് മോചിച്ചുതന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്നതോ എഴുന്നേറ്റു നടക്ക എന്നു പറയുന്നതോ ഏതാകുന്നു എളുപ്പം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

23. Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Arise and walk'?

24. എങ്കിലും ഭൂമിയില് പാപങ്ങളെ മോചിപ്പാന് മനുഷ്യപുത്രന്നു അധികാരം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു - അവന് പക്ഷവാതക്കാരനോടുഎഴുന്നേറ്റു കിടക്ക എടുത്തു വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോക എന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins'--He said to the man who was paralyzed, 'I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.'

25. ഉടനെ അവര് കാണ്കെ അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു, താന് കിടന്ന കിടക്ക എടുത്തു ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വീകരിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോയി.

25. Immediately he rose up before them, taking up [the bed] which he had been lying on, he went off to his own house, glorifying God.

26. എല്ലാവരും വിസ്മയംപൂണ്ടു ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തി ഭയം നിറഞ്ഞവരായിഇന്നു നാം അപൂര്വ്വ കാര്യങ്ങളെ കണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. And amazement gripped [them] all, and they were glorifying God, and they were filled with fear, saying, 'We have seen extraordinary things today!'

27. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം അവന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു, ലേവി എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു ചുങ്കകാരന് ചുങ്കസ്ഥലത്തു ഇരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു; എന്നെ അനുഗമിക്ക എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. After these things He went out and saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, 'Follow Me.'

28. അവന് സകലവും വിട്ടു എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ചു.

28. And leaving everything, he arose and followed Him.

29. ലേവി തന്റെ വീട്ടില് അവന്നു ഒരു വലിയ വിരുന്നു ഒരുക്കി; ചുങ്കക്കാരും മറ്റും വലിയോരു പുരുഷാരം അവരോടുകൂടെ പന്തിയില് ഇരുന്നു.

29. Then Levi made a great banquet for Him in his own house. And there was a great number of tax collectors and others who were reclining with them [to eat].

30. പരീശന്മാരും അവരുടെ ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടുനിങ്ങള് ചുങ്കക്കാരോടും പാപികളോടും കൂടെ തിന്നുകുടിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു പിറുപിറുത്തു.

30. And their scribes and the Pharisees complained against His disciples, saying, 'Why do You eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?'

31. യേശു അവരോടുദീനക്കാര്ക്കല്ലാതെ സൌഖ്യമുള്ളവര്ക്കും വൈദ്യനെക്കൊണ്ടു ആവശ്യമില്ല;

31. Jesus answered and said to them, 'Those who are healthy have no need of a physician, but those who are ill.

32. ഞാന് നീതിമാന്മാരെ അല്ല പാപികളെ അത്രേ മാനസാന്തരത്തിന്നു വിളിപ്പാന് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

32. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.'

33. അവര് അവനോടുയോഹന്നാന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര് കൂടക്കൂടെ ഉപവസിച്ചു പ്രാര്ത്ഥനകഴിച്ചുവരുന്നു; പരീശന്മാരുടെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരും അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചെയ്യുന്നു; നിന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോ തിന്നുകയും കുടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

33. Then they said to Him, 'Why do the disciples of John fast often and make prayers, and likewise also the [disciples] of the Pharisees, but Yours eat and drink?'

34. യേശു അവരോടുമണവാളന് തോഴ്മക്കാരോടുകൂടെ ഉള്ളപ്പോള് അവരെ ഉപവാസം ചെയ്യിപ്പാന് കഴിയുമോ?

34. And He said to them, 'Can you make the groomsmen fast while the bridegroom is with them?

35. മണവാളന് അവരെ വിട്ടുപിരിയേണ്ടുന്ന കാലം വരും; അന്നു, ആ കാലത്തു, അവര് ഉപവസിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

35. But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them; then they will fast in those days.'

36. ഒരു ഉപമയും അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞുആരും കോടിത്തുണിക്കണ്ടം കീറിയെടുത്തു പഴയവസ്ത്രത്തോടു ചേര്ത്തു തുന്നുമാറില്ല. തുന്നിയാലോ പുതിയതു കീറുകയും പുതിയകണ്ടം പഴയതിനോടു ചേരാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

36. Then He spoke a parable to them: 'No one puts a patch of a new garment on an old one; otherwise both the new [garment] tears, and also the patch that was taken out of the new [garment] does not match with the old [garment].

37. ആരും പുതുവീഞ്ഞു പഴയതുരുത്തിയില് പകരുമാറില്ല, പകര്ന്നാല് പുതുവീഞ്ഞു തുരുത്തിയെ പൊളിച്ചു ഒഴുകിപ്പോകും; തുരുത്തിയും നശിച്ചുപോകും;

37. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the wineskins and it will be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined.

38. പുതുവീഞ്ഞു പുതിയതുരുത്തിയില് അത്രേ പകര്ന്നുവെക്കേണ്ടതു.

38. But [one] must put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved together.

39. പിന്നെ പഴയതു കുടിച്ചിട്ടു ആരും പുതിയതു ഉടനെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ല; പഴയതു ഏറെ നല്ലതു എന്നു പറയും.

39. And no one, having drunk old [wine], immediately desires new; for he says, 'The old is better.''
