1. എന്നാല് നമ്മുടെ പൂര്വ്വപിതാവായ അബ്രാഹാം ജഡപ്രകാരം എന്തു പ്രാപിച്ചു എന്നു പറയേണ്ടു?

1. What shall we say then that Abraham our father according to flesh has found?

2. അബ്രാഹാം പ്രവൃത്തിയാല് നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടു എങ്കില് അവന്നു പ്രശംസിപ്പാന് സംഗതി ഉണ്ടു; ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് ഇല്ലതാനും,
ഉല്പത്തി 15:6

2. For if Abraham has been justified on the principle of works, he has whereof to boast: but not before God;

3. തിരുവെഴുത്തു എന്തു പറയുന്നു? “അബ്രാഹാം ദൈവത്തെ വിശ്വസിച്ചു; അതു അവന്നു നീതിയായി കണക്കിട്ടു” എന്നു തന്നേ.

3. for what does the scripture say? And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.

4. എന്നാല് പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നവന്നു കൂലി കണക്കിടുന്നതു കൃപയായിട്ടല്ല കടമായിട്ടത്രേ.

4. Now to him that works the reward is not reckoned as of grace, but of debt:

5. പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കാത്തവന് എങ്കിലും അഭക്തനെ നിതീകരിക്കുന്നവനില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന്നോ അവന്റെ വിശ്വാസം നീതിയായി കണക്കിടുന്നു.

5. but to him who does not work, but believes on him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is reckoned as righteousness.

6. ദൈവം പ്രവൃത്തിക്കുടാതെ നീതികണക്കിടുന്ന മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഭാഗ്യം ദാവീദും വര്ണ്ണിക്കുന്നതു

6. Even as David also declares the blessedness of the man to whom God reckons righteousness without works:

7. “അധര്മ്മം മോചിച്ചും പാപം മറെച്ചും കിട്ടിയവര് ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാര്.
സങ്കീർത്തനങ്ങൾ 32:1-2

7. Blessed [they] whose lawlessnesses have been forgiven, and whose sins have been covered:

8. കര്ത്താവു പാപം കണക്കിടാത്ത മനുഷ്യന് ഭാഗ്യവാന് .”

8. blessed [the] man to whom [the] Lord shall not at all reckon sin.

9. ഈ ഭാഗ്യവര്ണ്ണനം പരിച്ഛേദനെക്കോ? അഗ്രചര്മ്മത്തിന്നു കൂടെയോ? അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു വിശ്വാസം നീതിയായി കണക്കിട്ടു എന്നല്ലോ നാം പറയുന്നതു.

9. [Does] this blessedness then [rest] on the circumcision, or also on the uncircumcision? For we say that faith has been reckoned to Abraham as righteousness.

10. എങ്ങനെ കണക്കിട്ടതു? പരിച്ഛേദനയിലോ? അഗ്രചര്മ്മത്തിലോ? പരിച്ഛേദനയിലല്ല. അഗ്രചര്മ്മത്തിലത്രേ.

10. How then has it been reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.

11. അഗ്രചര്മ്മത്തില്വെച്ചു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു വിശ്വാസനീതിക്കു മുദ്രയായി പരിച്ഛേദന എന്ന അടയാളം അവന്നു ലഭിച്ചതു അഗ്രചര്മ്മത്തോട വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും കൂടെ നീതി കണക്കിടപ്പെടുവാന്തക്കവണ്ണം താന് അവര്ക്കും എല്ലാവര്ക്കും പിതാവായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും

11. And he received [the] sign of circumcision [as] seal of the righteousness of faith which [he had] being in uncircumcision, that he might be [the] father of all them that believe being in uncircumcision, that righteousness might be reckoned to them also;

12. പരിച്ഛേദന മാത്രമുള്ളവരല്ല നമ്മുടെ പിതാവായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു അഗ്രചര്മ്മത്തില്വെച്ചു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന വിശ്വാസത്തെ അനുഗമിക്കുന്നവരുമായ പരിച്ഛേദനക്കാര്ക്കും പിതാവായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും തന്നേ.

12. and father of circumcision, not only to those who are of [the] circumcision, but to those also who walk in the steps of the faith, during uncircumcision, of our father Abraham.

13. ലോകാവകാശി ആകും എന്നുള്ള വാഗ്ദത്തം അബ്രാഹാമിന്നോ അവന്റെ സന്തതിക്കോ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്താലല്ല വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ നീതിയാലല്ലോ ലഭിച്ചതു.

13. For [it was] not by law that the promise was to Abraham, or to his seed, that he should be heir of [the] world, but by righteousness of faith.

14. എന്നാല് ന്യായപ്രമാണമുള്ളവര് അവകാശികള് എങ്കില് വിശ്വാസം വ്യര്ത്ഥവും വാഗ്ദത്തം ദുര്ബ്ബലവും എന്നു വരും.

14. For if they which [are] of law be heirs, faith is made vain, and the promise made of no effect.

15. ന്യായപ്രമാണമോ കോപത്തിന്നു ഹേതുവാകുന്നു; ന്യായപ്രമാണം ഇല്ലാത്തേടത്തു ലംഘനവുമില്ല.

15. For law works wrath; but where no law is neither [is there] transgression.

16. അതു കൊണ്ടു കൃപാദാനം എന്നു വരേണ്ടതിന്നു വിശ്വാസത്താലത്രേ അവകാശികള് ആകുന്നതു; വാഗ്ദത്തം സകലസന്തതിക്കും, ന്യായപ്രമാണമുള്ളവര്ക്കും മാത്രമല്ല, അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ വിശ്വാസമുള്ളവര്ക്കും കൂടെ ഉറപ്പാകേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നെ.

16. Therefore [it is] on the principle of faith, that [it might be] according to grace, in order to the promise being sure to all the seed, not to that only which [is] of the law, but to that also which [is] of Abraham's faith, who is father of us all,

17. മരിച്ചവരെ ജീവിപ്പിക്കയും ഇല്ലാത്തതിനെ ഉള്ളതിനെപ്പോലെ വിളിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവനായി താന് വിശ്വസിച്ച ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയില് അവന് നമുക്കെല്ലാവര്ക്കും പിതാവാകേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ. “ഞാന് നിന്നെ ബഹുജാതികള്ക്കു പിതാവാക്കിവെച്ചു” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

17. (according as it is written, I have made thee father of many nations,) before the God whom he believed, who quickens the dead, and calls the things which be not as being;

18. “നിന്റെ സന്തതി ഇവ്വണ്ണം ആകും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ താന് ബഹുജാതികള്ക്കു പിതാവാകും എന്നു അവന് ആശെക്കു വിരോധമായി ആശയോടെ വിശ്വസിച്ചു.

18. who against hope believed in hope to his becoming father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be:

19. അവന് ഏകദേശം നൂറു വയസ്സുള്ളവനാകയാല് തന്റെ ശരീരം നിര്ജ്ജീവമായിപ്പോയതും സാറയുടെ ഗര്ഭപാത്രത്തിന്റെ നിര്ജ്ജീവത്വവും ഗ്രഹിച്ചിട്ടും വിശ്വാസത്തില് ക്ഷീണിച്ചില്ല.
ഉല്പത്തി 17:17

19. and not being weak in faith, he considered not his own body already become dead, being about a hundred years old, and the deadening of Sarah's womb,

20. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വാഗ്ദത്തത്തിങ്കല് അവിശ്വാസത്താല് സംശയിക്കാതെ വിശ്വാസത്തില് ശക്തിപ്പെട്ടു ദൈവത്തിന്നു മഹത്വം കൊടുത്തു,

20. and hesitated not at the promise of God through unbelief; but found strength in faith, giving glory to God;

21. അവന് വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്തതു പ്രവര്ത്തിപ്പാനും ശക്തന് എന്നു പൂര്ണ്ണമായി ഉറെച്ചു.

21. and being fully persuaded that what he has promised he is able also to do;

22. അതുകൊണ്ടു അതു അവന്നു നീതിയായി കണക്കിട്ടു.

22. wherefore also it was reckoned to him as righteousness.

23. അവന്നു കണക്കിട്ടു എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു അവനെ വിചാരിച്ചു മാത്രം അല്ല,

23. Now it was not written on his account alone that it was reckoned to him,

24. നമ്മെ വിചാരിച്ചുംകൂടെ ആകുന്നു. നമ്മുടെ അതിക്രമങ്ങള് നിമിത്തം മരണത്തിന്നു ഏല്പിച്ചും നമ്മുടെ നീതീകരണത്തിന്നായി ഉയിര്പ്പിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്ന

24. but on ours also, to whom, believing on him who has raised from among [the] dead Jesus our Lord,

25. നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുവിനെ മരിച്ചവരില്നിന്നു ഉയര്പ്പിച്ചവനില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന നമുക്കും കണക്കിടുവാനുള്ളതാകയാല് തന്നേ.

25. who has been delivered for our offences and has been raised for our justification, it will be reckoned.
