1. നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു തരുന്ന ദേശത്തിലെ ജാതികളെ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഛേദിച്ചുകളകയും നീ അവരുടെ ദേശം അടക്കി അവരുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലും വീടുകളിലും പാര്ക്കയും ചെയ്യുമ്പോള്

1. 'The Lord your God will destroy the nations whose land the Lord your God gives you. You will take their place and live in their cities and in their houses. At that time

2. നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു അവകാശമായി തരുന്ന ദേശത്തില് മൂന്നു പട്ടണം വേറുതിരിക്കേണം.

2. you should set apart three cities for yourself in the land the Lord your God gives you for your own.

3. ആരെങ്കിലും കുലചെയ്തുപോയാല് അവിടേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോകേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ ഒരു വഴി ഉണ്ടാക്കുകയും നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു അവകാശമായി തരുന്ന ദേശം മൂന്നായി വിഭാഗിക്കയും വേണം;

3. Make the roads good that lead to these cities. Divide into three parts the land the Lord your God gives you for your own. Any man who kills another may run to a city and be safe.

4. കുല ചെയ്തിട്ടു അവിടേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി ജീവനോടിരിക്കേണ്ടുന്നവന്റെ സംഗതി എന്തെന്നാല്ഒരുത്തന് പൂര്വ്വദ്വേഷംകൂടാതെ അബദ്ധവശാല് കൂട്ടുകാരനെ കൊന്നുപോയെങ്കില്, എങ്ങനെയെന്നാല്

4. 'This is the law of the person who kills another and runs to a city to save his life. He might have killed his friend without meaning to, a friend he did not hate in the past.

5. മരംവെട്ടുവാന് ഒരുത്തന് കൂട്ടുകാരനോടുകൂടെ കാട്ടില് പോയി മരംവെട്ടുവാന് കോടാലി ഔങ്ങുമ്പോള് കോടാലി ഊരി തെറിച്ചു കൂട്ടുകാരന്നു കൊണ്ടിട്ടു അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയാല്,

5. He could have gone among the trees with his friend to cut wood. As he was using his ax to cut down a tree, the ax head could have come off the stick and hit his friend, killing him. Then he may run to one of these cities and live.

6. ഇങ്ങനെ കുല ചെയ്തവനെ രക്തപ്രതികാരകന് മനസ്സിന്റെ ഉഷ്ണത്തോടെ പിന് തുടര്ന്നു വഴിയുടെ ദൂരംനിമിത്തം അവനെ പിടിച്ചു അവന്റെ ജീവനെ നശിപ്പിക്കാതിരിപ്പാന് അവന് ആ പട്ടണങ്ങളില് ഒന്നില് ഔടിപ്പോയി ജീവനോടിരിക്കേണം; അവന്നു അവനോടു പൂര്വ്വദ്വേഷമില്ലാതിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു മരണശിക്ഷെക്കു ഹേതുവില്ല.

6. Or else the one who is angry will want to punish him for the killing, and will catch him and kill him. But the killer should not be put to death, because he had not hated the man in the past.

7. അതുകൊണ്ടു മൂന്നു പട്ടണം വേറുതിരിക്കേണമെന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു ആജ്ഞാപിക്കുന്നു.

7. So I tell you, 'Set apart three cities for yourself.'

8. നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ നീ സ്നേഹിച്ചു എല്ലാനാളും അവന്റെ വഴികളില് നടക്കയും ഞാന് ഇന്നു നിന്നോടു ആജ്ഞാപിക്കുന്ന ഈ സകലകല്പനകളും ജാഗ്രതയോടെ പ്രമാണിക്കയും ചെയ്താല് നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ

8. The Lord your God will give you even more land, as He has promised your fathers. He will give you all the land which He promised to give your fathers,

9. നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു സത്യംചെയ്തതുപോലെ നിന്റെ അതിര് വിശാലമാക്കി നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാര്ക്കും കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്ത ദേശം ഒക്കെയും നിനക്കു തന്നാല് ഈ മൂന്നു പട്ടണങ്ങള് കൂടാതെ വേറെയും മൂന്നു വേറുതിരിക്കേണം.

9. if you are careful to obey all the Laws I tell you today. Love the Lord your God. Walk in His ways always. Then you will add three other cities to these three.

10. നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു അവകാശമായി തരുന്ന ദേശത്തു കുറ്റമില്ലാത്ത രക്തം ചിന്നീട്ടു നിന്റെമേല് രക്തപാതകം ഉണ്ടാകരുതു.

10. So the person without guilt will not be put to death in the land the Lord your God gives you as a gift. And you will not be guilty of blood.

11. എന്നാല് ഒരുത്തന് കൂട്ടുകാരനെ ദ്വേഷിച്ചു തരംനോക്കി അവനോടു കയര്ത്തു അവനെ അടിച്ചുകൊന്നിട്ടു ഈ പട്ടണങ്ങളില് ഒന്നില് ഔടിപ്പോയാല്,

11. 'But there might be a man who hates his neighbor, lies in wait for him, goes against him, and hurts him so that he dies. After this he might run to one of these cities.

12. അവന്റെ പട്ടണത്തിലെ മൂപ്പന്മാര് ആളയച്ചു അവനെ അവിടെനിന്നു വരുത്തി അവനെ കൊല്ലേണ്ടതിന്നു രക്തപ്രതികാരകന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കേണം.

12. Then the leaders of his city should send men to take him from there and bring him to the one who wants to punish him for the killing that he may die.

13. നിനക്കു അവനോടു കനിവു തോന്നരുതു; നിനക്കു നന്മ വരുവാനായി കുറ്റമില്ലാത്ത രക്തം ചൊരിഞ്ഞ പാതകം യിസ്രായേലില്നിന്നു നീക്കക്കളയേണം.

13. Do not pity him. In Israel be free from the blood of those that are not guilty. Then it will go well with you.

14. നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു അവകാശമായി തരുന്ന ദേശത്തു നീ കൈവശമാക്കുവാനിരിക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ അവകാശത്തില് പൂര്വ്വന്മാര് വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതായ കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ അതിര് നീക്കരുതു.

14. 'Do not move your neighbor's land-mark which the fathers of long ago have set in the land the Lord your God gives you for your own.

15. മനുഷ്യന് ചെയ്യുന്ന യാതൊരു അകൃത്യത്തിന്നോ പാപത്തിന്നോ അവന്റെ നേരെ ഏകസാക്ഷി നില്ക്കരുതു; രണ്ടോ മൂന്നോ സാക്ഷികളുടെ വാമൊഴിമേല് കാര്യം ഉറപ്പാക്കേണം.

15. 'One person will not prove the guilt of a sin another man may have done. It will take two or three people who know about the sin to prove the man's guilt.

16. ഒരുത്തന്റെ നേരെ അകൃത്യം സാക്ഷീകരിപ്പാന് ഒരു കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷി അവന്നു വിരോധമായി എഴുന്നേറ്റാല്

16. If an angry person speaks against a man, saying that he did something wrong,

17. തമ്മില് വ്യവഹാരമുള്ള രണ്ടുപേരും യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് അന്നുള്ള പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെയും ന്യായാധിപന്മാരുടെയും മുമ്പാകെ നില്ക്കേണം.

17. then both men who are arguing should stand before the Lord, in front of the religious leaders and the judges who are at work at that time.

18. ന്യായാധിപന്മാര് നല്ലവണ്ണം വിസ്താരം കഴിക്കേണം; സാക്ഷി കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷി എന്നും സഹോദരന്റെ നേരെ കള്ളസ്സാകഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞു എന്നും കണ്ടാല്

18. The judges will choose careful questions to ask about the problem. If the man lied who said his brother is guilty,

19. അവന് സഹോദരന്നു വരുത്തുവാന് നിരൂപിച്ചതുപോലെ നിങ്ങള് അവനോടു ചെയ്യേണം; ഇങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു ദോഷം നീക്കിക്കളയേണം.

19. then you should do to him just what he wanted to do to his brother. In this way you will get rid of the sin among you.

20. ഇനി നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് അതുപോലെയുള്ള ദോഷം നടക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ശേഷമുള്ളവര് കേട്ടു ഭയപ്പെടേണം. നിനക്കു കനിവു തോന്നരുതു; ജീവന്നു പകരം ജീവന് , കണ്ണിന്നു പകരം കണ്ണു, പല്ലിന്നു പകരം പല്ലു, കൈകൂ പകരം കൈ, കാലിന്നു പകരം കാല്.

20. The rest of the people will hear and be afraid. They will never do such a sinful thing among you again.
