1. നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു അവകാശമായി തരുന്ന ദേശത്തു വയലില് ഒരുത്തനെ കൊന്നിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നതു കാണുകയും അവനെ കൊന്നവന് ആരെന്നു അറിയാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്താല് നിന്റെ മൂപ്പന്മാരും

1. If one be found slain in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it, lying in the field, and it be not known who hath slain him,

2. ന്യായധിപതിമാരും പുറത്തു ചെന്നു കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടവന്റെ ചുറ്റുമിരിക്കുന്ന അതതു പട്ടണംവരെയുള്ള ദൂരം അളക്കേണം.

2. then thy elders and thy judges shall come forth, and they shall measure the distance unto the cities which are round about him that is slain.

3. കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടവന്നു അധികം അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന പട്ടണത്തിലെ മൂപ്പന്മാര്, വേല ചെയ്യിക്കാത്തതും നുകം വെക്കാത്തതുമായ ഒരു പശുക്കിടാവിനെ കൊണ്ടുവരേണം.

3. And it shall be that the city which is next unto the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take a heifer which hath not been worked and which hath not drawn in the yoke;

4. ആ പട്ടണത്തിലെ മൂപ്പന്മാര് ഉഴവും വിതയും ഇല്ലാത്തതും നിരൊഴുകൂള്ളതുമായ ഒരു താഴ്വരയില് പശുക്കിടാവിനെ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു അവിടെവെച്ചു പശുക്കിടാവിന്റെ കഴുത്തു ഒടിച്ചുകളയേണം.

4. and the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer unto a rough valley, which is neither eared nor sown, and shall strike off the heifer's neck there in the valley.

5. പിന്നെ ലേവ്യരായ പുരോഹിതന്മാര് അടുത്തു ചെല്ലേണം; അവരെയല്ലോ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ തനിക്കു ശുശ്രൂഷചെയ്വാനും യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില് അനുഗ്രഹിപ്പാനും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നതു; അവരുടെ വാക്കിന് പ്രകാരം സകലവ്യവഹാരവും അടികലശലും തീര്ക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

5. And the priests, the sons of Levi, shall come near, for them the LORD thy God hath chosen to minister unto Him and to bless in the name of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried.

6. കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടവന്നു അടുത്ത പട്ടണത്തിലെ മൂപ്പന്മാര് എല്ലാവരും താഴ്വരയില്വെച്ചു കഴുത്തൊടിച്ച പശുക്കിടാവിന്മേല് തങ്ങളുടെ കൈ കഴുകി

6. And all the elders of that city who are next unto the slain man shall wash their hands over the heifer that is beheaded in the valley.

7. ഞങ്ങളുടെ കൈകള് ആ രക്തം ചിന്നീട്ടില്ല, ഞങ്ങളുടെ കണ്ണു അതു കണ്ടിട്ടുമില്ല.

7. And they shall answer and say, `Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it.

8. യഹോവ, നീ വീണ്ടെടുത്തിട്ടുള്ള നിന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിനോടു ക്ഷമിക്കേണമേ; നിന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ മദ്ധ്യേ കുറ്റമില്ലാത്ത രക്തം ഇരിപ്പാന് ഇടവരുത്തരുതേ എന്നു പറയേണം; എന്നാല് ആ രക്തപാതകം അവരോടു മോചിക്കപ്പെടും.

8. Be merciful, O LORD, unto Thy people Israel, whom Thou hast redeemed, and lay not innocent blood unto Thy people of Israel's charge.' And the blood shall be forgiven them.

9. ഇങ്ങനെ യഹോവേക്കു ഹിതമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു കുറ്റമില്ലാത്ത രക്തം നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളയേണം.

9. So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.

10. നീ ശത്രുക്കളോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്വാന് പുറപ്പെട്ടിട്ടു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവരെ നിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കയും നീ അവരെ ബദ്ധന്മാരായി പിടിക്കയും ചെയ്താല്

10. When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and the LORD thy God hath delivered them into thine hands and thou hast taken them captive,

11. ആ ബദ്ധന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് സുന്ദരിയായൊരു സ്ത്രീയെ കണ്ടു ഭാര്യയായി എടുപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അവളോടു പ്രേമം ജനിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില്

11. and seest among the captives a beautiful woman and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her for thy wife,

12. നീ അവളെ വീട്ടില് കൊണ്ടുപോകേണം; അവള് തലമുടി ചിരെക്കയും നഖം മുറിക്കയും ബദ്ധവസ്ത്രം മാറി

12. then thou shalt bring her home to thine house. And she shall shave her head and pare her nails;

13. നിന്റെ വീട്ടില് പാര്ത്തു ഒരു മാസം തന്റെ അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും കുറിച്ചു ദുഃഖിക്കയും ചെയ്തശേഷം നീ അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു അവള്ക്കു ഭര്ത്താവായും അവള് നിനക്കു ഭാര്യയായും ഇരിക്കേണം.

13. and she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thine house and bewail her father and her mother a full month. And after that thou shalt go in unto her and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.

14. എന്നാല് നിനക്കു അവളോടു ഇഷ്ടമില്ലാതെയായെങ്കില് അവളെ സ്വതന്ത്രയായി വിട്ടയക്കേണം; അവളെ ഒരിക്കലും വിലെക്കു വില്ക്കരുതു; നീ അവളെ പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവളോടു കാഠിന്യം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കരുതു.

14. And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither she will, but thou shalt not sell her at all for money; thou shalt not make merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her.

15. ഒരുത്തി ഇഷ്ടയായും മറ്റവള് അനിഷ്ടയായും ഇങ്ങനെ ഒരാള്ക്കു രണ്ടു ഭാര്യമാര് ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കയും അവര് ഇരുവരും അവന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെ പ്രസവിക്കയും ആദ്യജാതന് അനിഷ്ടയുടെ മകന് ആയിരിക്കയും ചെയ്താല്

15. If a man have two wives, one beloved and another hated, and they have borne him children, both the beloved and the hated, and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated,

16. അവന് തന്റെ സ്വത്തു പുത്രന്മാര്ക്കും ഭാഗിച്ചു കൊടുക്കുമ്പോള് അനിഷ്ടയുടെ മകനായ ആദ്യജാതന്നു പകരം ഇഷ്ടയുടെ മകന്നു ജ്യേഷ്ഠാവകാശം കൊടുത്തുകൂടാ.

16. then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, who is indeed the firstborn.

17. തനിക്കുള്ള സകലത്തിലും രണ്ടു പങ്കു അനിഷ്ടയുടെ മകന്നു കൊടുത്തു അവനെ ആദ്യജാതനെന്നു സ്വീകരിക്കേണം; അവന് അവന്റെ ബലത്തിന്റെ ആരംഭമല്ലോ; ജ്യേഷ്ഠാവകാശം അവന്നുള്ളതാകുന്നു.

17. But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated as the firstborn by giving him a double portion of all that he hath, for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.

18. അപ്പന്റെയോ അമ്മയുടെയോ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കാതെയും അവര് ശാസിച്ചാലും അനുസരിക്കാതെയുമിരിക്കുന്ന ശഠനും മത്സരിയുമായ മകന് ഒരുത്തന്നു ഉണ്ടെങ്കില്

18. If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and who, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them,

19. അമ്മയപ്പന്മാര് അവനെ പിടിച്ചു പട്ടണത്തിലെ മൂപ്പന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് പട്ടണവാതില്ക്കലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി

19. then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city and unto the gate of his place.

20. ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഈ മകന് ശഠനും മത്സരിയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കാത്തവനും തിന്നിയും കുടിയനും ആകുന്നു എന്നു പട്ടണത്തിലെ മൂപ്പന്മാരോടു പറയേണം.

20. And they shall say unto the elders of his city, `This, our son, is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.'

21. പിന്നെ അവന്റെ പട്ടണക്കാര് എല്ലാവരും അവനെ കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞുകൊല്ലേണം. ഇങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു ദോഷം നീക്കിക്കളയേണം; യിസ്രായേലെല്ലാം കേട്ടു ഭയപ്പെടേണം.

21. And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, so that he die. So shalt thou put evil away from among you, and all Israel shall hear and fear.

22. ഒരുത്തന് മരണയോഗ്യമായ ഒരു പാപം ചെയ്തിട്ടു അവനെ കൊന്നു ഒരു മരത്തില് തൂക്കിയാല് അവന്റെ ശവം മരത്തിന്മേല് രാത്രിമുഴുവനും ഇരിക്കരുതു; അന്നുതന്നേ അതു കുഴിച്ചിടേണം; തൂങ്ങിമരിച്ചവന് ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് ശാപഗ്രസ്തന് ആകുന്നു; നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു അവകാശമായി തരുന്ന ദേശം നീ അശുദ്ധമാക്കരുതു.

22. And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he is to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree,
